Hi ladies . I’ve just finished my period today and my husband and I are now going to start ttc our first baby after having my Mirena removed last week.
Is anyone else TTC this month ? I’ve ordered some ovulation tests after I said I wouldn’t because I’ve read so many success stories on them so I thought I might as well just so I have some in case !

I’d love for people to share their journey with me ! I’m 24, 25 in two weeks . So excited for our journey . I’m trying to figure out this whole lingo on here and stuff sorry! X

We had agreed that we will just see what happens, but I can’t help but obsess over it! I have been thinking about using OPKs but really don’t want to make it more stressful than it already is! I know there is such a slim chance of it happening in the first cycle (especially since I don’t actually know if my cycles will go back to normal) but there is still that bit of hope 🙈

GaaaaarlicBread · 09/10/2019 15:43

@notalwaysalondoner Welcome to the group! And congrats on starting your journey. You ladies are giving me so much positivity with all your support for each of us. I love London, I don't live too far away on the train and I am taking my Husband there for his birthday as he has never been! We're going to watch our favourite pianist. So excited but he's unsure on the busy-ness of the City lol
You sound very prepared, and don't buy any OPK's yet-believe me haha
I am taking 5mg Folic Acid as I have Epilepsy and my Dr wanted me on a bit of a higher dose. I also just generally look after myself but not sure what else to do really other than work on DTD when we can and then prepare more when we are successful!
I honestly never ever had a single idea that we can only get pregnant during such a short window!

@Konbanwa On a night I like to watch a bit of TV too, I haven't watched that but saw everyone watch it on Gogglebox and I could see it seems like a laugh! I like my medical stuff like Hospital programmes (the real ones not Casualty etc). My Husband and I try and watch a film once or twice a week too!

I’m so confused though cause I ovulated at the weekend according to clear blue and 3 different apps, don’t know what’s going on

Konbanwa · 09/10/2019 13:36

@notalwaysalondoner Welcome to the group! It's great to have some people to talk to about all this TTC stuff! This group has been such a great support.

Congrats on starting the exciting but scary TTC journey!

So far in terms of preparation I have come off the minipill (end of August) and have now started trying in earnest after giving myself a recovery month. I'm taking folic acid and vitamin d tablets at the mo, and also have to take levothyroxine as I have hypothyroidism.

Oh, and also trying to DTD as much as possible around when I think I might be ovulating (haven't started on OPKs yet...).

Konbanwa · 09/10/2019 13:26

@Rosabuddy Hey! Seems like we might be having similar symptoms around ovulation. It's horrible isn't it?! So confusing!

@han2291 I'm not even sure if I would usually get cramps mid cycle as I have only had two cycles since coming off the pill. As it has happened both times I'm assuming it might be part of my natural cycle around ovulation 🤷🏻‍♀️

My body is making me so confused!

I think if nothing happens this month I might have to start tracking using OPKs to try to get a better idea.

On a lighter note, what does everyone enjoy doing on an evening? At the moment I've been watching The Circle on C4. It's such trash tv but it is a lot of fun! 😂

notalwaysalondoner · 09/10/2019 13:24

Can I join? I'm TTC #1, had my IUD removed October 2 (after I had already ovulated - it was a copper coil so my cycles were not affected) and am just finishing up AF today. I tried temping for a couple of months earlier this year to get a sense of my cycle and think I ovulate on Day 13, which means DTD lots this weekend... it's exciting but I also know the TWW will be really stressful and that the chances of it happening the first month are slim!
DH and I are both 29, live in London, and I work in consulting - long hours are not particularly conducive to baby making but we'll both have to make the time!
I haven't bought any OPKs yet - thought I'd wait a month or two but am very tempted! I've been taking Seven Seas preconception and extra fish oils, and have read Taking Charge of your Fertility (highly recommend!) - what have you ladies done to prepare?

han2291 · 09/10/2019 12:56

@Rosabuddy from what I've seen on Google you can get cramps after ovulation too as things settle down around there, maybe that's what it is? ☺️ but Google does tell you a million different things so honestly I don't know what to believe anymore haha

han2291 · 09/10/2019 12:55

@Konbanwa 9pm is a great time to go to sleep haha I genuinely look forward to getting into bed every night! My week has been OK, just take each day as it comes and try not to stress too much about TTC 😂 not very good at switching my brain off though!
Aah ouch, that's not fun 🙁 can totally relate to the emotions though.

Do you usually get cramps multiple times a month? Fingers crossed it wasn't just O pain!!

@Itsemily I think post acne seems to be common from what I've read online, just hope everything sorts itself out! Housework is a good way to busy yourself - do you turn into Monica from Friends? Haha probably not a bad idea to keep the ovulation bit to yourself to minimise the pressure ☺️

Konbanwa · 09/10/2019 12:11

@Itsemily That sounds like a good chat with your DH, and DTD should be more than enough for TTC. Fingers crossed for you! I'm jealous of your day at home though, but I don't think I'd be so productive with house work!

I'm at work today and I'm supposed to be busy doing paperwork but keep getting distracted by thinking about all this TTC stuff.

I'm not having any weird cramping today like I had yesterday which is making me wonder if they might have been due to ovulation. If so, I might have missed the boat this month as we last DTD on Sunday. Hopefully there are some guys chilling up there ready and waiting to catch an egg! 🙈🤞

GaaaaarlicBread · 09/10/2019 12:00

@rosabuddy morning Rosa ! I hope it is too, everyone is different so hopefully you’re getting early symptoms ! Researching the web for things is either a blessing or an absolute nightmare . I’ve been googling allllll sorts of stuff about CM, lots of tmi topics lol! It’s awful

OP posts:
Rosabuddy · 09/10/2019 11:41

So yesterday I had cramping, today I have cramping and a little back pain, I ovulated Sunday, I’m hoping it’s implantation but anything I read says it’s too early

GaaaaarlicBread · 09/10/2019 10:47

Good morning ladies

@han2291 I was on the pill as a teenager , can’t remember exact age as I started my periods quite late compared to a lot of girls and they started quite heavy , regular but heavy, so I went on the pill. When I came off it to go on the coil I got terrible acne and really sore breasts ! Other than that , nothing else. Journaling is great, I’m so glad you like to write too!

I’m doing ok, getting quite impatient with the unknown lol but I’m doing good . Doing lots of house work today to keep me busy .
My husband has said he’d prefer DTD every other day from now so I’m glad he’s spoken with me because I would’ve been so upset if he hadn’t have been honest and felt forced . He said because of his shifts he’ll be so tired . He doesn’t know I’m monitoring my ovulation anymore I’ve decided to keep it to myself to minimise any feelings of ‘chore’ lol x

@han2291 I'm good thanks! Feeling quite tired this week though so will glad to have the weekend. I was in bed by 9pm last night! How is your week going?

In regards to symptoms related to coming off the pill, I haven't had too many tbh although my biggest one is that my boobs seem to get unbelievably sore around the middle of my cycle. I'm having to go back to sleeping in a bra and I haven't had to do that since I was a teenager!

My skin is the same, although I do seem to be getting a little bit more emotional. But whether that is from coming off the pill or just life stress I don't know! Ha! 😂

han2291 · 09/10/2019 08:08

@Konbanwa I'm good ☺️ thanks for asking! How about you?

han2291 · 09/10/2019 08:07

@Itsemily oh cool ☺️ and you write! That's awesome. I keep a journal but I don't think that counts haha but yes you should definitely visit HK it's a great place!

@Konbanwa I've been feeling a bit odd and crampy as well, I think I'm either 5 or 6 DPO. Wondering though if I'd pick up on any of these feelings if I wasn't actively trying to feel them, if that makes sense. Fingers crossed for you!

@lou1904 haha I have the same issue! Luckily none of my husbands trips have been booked for the wrong days yet but it's bound to happen.. I'll try to prevent it as much as I can 😂

Any of you ladies that recently stopped the pill, are you experiencing any (non TTC) symptoms because of it? My skin is a little bumpier and keep getting big spots on my chest/back 🤦🏻‍♀️ trying to stay positive about them though, my body is slowly adjusting to natural hormones again and I should be happy about it but.. spots. Ugh 😂

Konbanwa · 09/10/2019 08:02

@Itsemily I know! I feel like a hormonal mess now I'm off contraception!

On another note, how is everyone doing this week? I'm so ready for this week to be over and I'm counting down until the weekend when I can have a good lie in!

GaaaaarlicBread · 08/10/2019 20:17

@lou1904 don't be silly you don't need to apologise. Your job sounds great, my Sister was a Legal Secretary and I remember when she started she was a lot younger and used to say how she felt so young and all her colleagues were married, had kids etc, and then she turned 30 and said how she felt so old compared to the new employees lol

@Konbanwa you are so like me. My Husband laughed at me the other day when I sobbed about how emotional and exciting it all is and I got myself overthinking about how sad I would be if the first month doesn't work out! What are we like?!

OP posts:
Konbanwa · 08/10/2019 18:14

@lou1904 Yes it is definitely too easy to symptom spot and I'm sure that these are the same feelings I got last month after ovulation so I'm trying to not get my hopes up!

It must be interesting being a legal secretary, and I know what you mean about working in a group that are at different life stages to you. All of my colleagues are either in their early 20s and are no where near thinking about kids, or have been there done that and have teenagers!

@Itsemily I agree that it feels really strange to be actively trying after actively preventing it and being paranoid about getting pregnant for so many years! Ha! It's gonna take some getting used to for sure.

But I did have a revelation today when I let myself think 'what if I am pregnant' and then found myself feeling a bit teary about if I'm not! I guess that proves that I do definitely want this!

lou1904 · 08/10/2019 17:56

@Itsemily sorry for the late reply, glad your chat went well and he felt all ok. I think us girls overthink too much about certain situations and in their head it is already over and done with! But always nice to have a new treat with new underwear and feel good about ourselves too!

I'm a legal secretary, and the girls I work with are lovely, but the majority are all very young and not even thinking of marriage and kids yet so think they think I'm old haha! I've got a couple of sisters but one of them recently told me she doesn't want to hear about me trying for a baby as it's private and I shouldn't be talking about it, so glad I've got this chat! I'm quite an open person so find it hard to keep things quiet all the time either when excited, anxious or frustrated! I did talk to my sister and say I felt like she wasn't really supporting me but I won't tell her if she would rather not know!

@han2291 wow that's exciting, but yes can understand it can be a bit lonely if work from home as well. Always welcome to talk and chat with us on here!

@Konbanwa Oo I hope it's good news for you, keep us posted. I did have some weird aches and pains last month after ovulation (if I ovulated as was first month off the pill!) and it is so easy to symptom spot!

My husband is going away this week on business right over when I am due to ovulate so not holding out much hope for this month but we will still try anyways in case it doesn't fall when apparently I am meant to 😂 x

GaaaaarlicBread · 08/10/2019 16:43

@Konbanwa you’re a star thank you. I’m so anxious for things to work out right but excited at the same time . It’s so strange to know we are actively trying if that makes sense ? When we’ve gone years ensuring we are careful lol!
So if we DTD now until day after ovulation hopefully we’ll make it !

OP posts:
Konbanwa · 08/10/2019 16:03

@Itsemily Thanks for your support! It's great getting to chat here! Definitely fingers crossed that it isn't AF!

From what I understand, the egg is only viable for 24hrs after ovulation so your best bet is to DTD before, on and just after your ovulation day. The times before will make sure the sperm have been able to swim up the Fallopian tubes and wait for when the egg is released. Especially as they can survive for up to 7 days inside the uterus!

But I'm also still learning so if anyone has any other info please correct me!

GaaaaarlicBread · 08/10/2019 15:22

@Konbanwa it’s so exciting ! Fingers crossed it’s implantation and not AF. The two week wait sounds like it can be tough with symptom spotting though ! But we are all in this together . Me and my husband had a chat last night after he asked me when I’m at my peak . I was so happy he asked - I told him wed, Thursday and Friday are the highest days. So he has said we are going to DTD as much as we can over the next three days to try and nail it by ovulation (as in try and aim every other , not every night) . Fingers crossed he’s not too tired 💤
Any tips on how best to nail it ? Did you DTD day after ovulation too? Not quite got my head round it fully although I’m slowly getting there I think....thanks to technology lol

OP posts:
Konbanwa · 08/10/2019 14:46

@Itsemily I hope that it is but I had a similar feeling last month close to AF so I'm hoping it's not just that again.

Fingers crossed that this means something and I'm not just being paranoid with symptom spotting 😅🤞

GaaaaarlicBread · 08/10/2019 13:27

@Konbanwa hmmmm could it be implantation pain ??

OP posts:
Konbanwa · 08/10/2019 13:07

Hey guys! My body is feeling so weird today. I'm feeling really uncomfortable and having some cramping.

No idea what this means as I think I'm only 3-4 days post ovulation.

Hopefully it's not that my dates are way off and this an early signal that AF might appear in a few days! 😬
