Hi ladies . I’ve just finished my period today and my husband and I are now going to start ttc our first baby after having my Mirena removed last week.
Is anyone else TTC this month ? I’ve ordered some ovulation tests after I said I wouldn’t because I’ve read so many success stories on them so I thought I might as well just so I have some in case !

I’d love for people to share their journey with me ! I’m 24, 25 in two weeks . So excited for our journey . I’m trying to figure out this whole lingo on here and stuff sorry! X

@Jonesbabynumber1 I had the exact same feeling in my last cycle. I took a pregnancy test even though I knew it would be a BFN, and I was really upset when I got the result. That really solidified for me how much I really want this!

Now I'm just dealing with the stress of TTC! I wish it was as simple as just deciding that we are ready for a baby and that's it!

Jonesbabynumber1 · 17/11/2019 10:48

@notalwaysalondner we must be similar in cycle I’m about 5 dpo and testing next Friday what a 30th birthday gift that would be. My temps are low but showing a drop and then peak during ovulation so I’m staying positive. Ive just been watching friends with Rachel pregnant and Monica trying god I got all emotional. This is my 3rd cycle and first time it’s hit me that I am trying for a baby and how much I want it and it’s overwhelmingly. Anyone else had that feeling?

CurbsideProphet · 17/11/2019 10:27

@Konbanwa I hear you about feeling more inclined to DTD at the weekend Grin
I really like my Pilates class. It's not in a gym, so there aren't any mirrors and as it's mat based I can't really see what everyone else is doing. It's so good for my back and neck, especially as I spend all of my time either sitting at a desk or driving.

@itsheapsswell I've had to avoid OPKs completely and just track my periods to assume when I will ovulate. I know if I start with OPKs I would get very hung up on it and it would become another thing to worry about (I'm a worrier) . I know I must be ovulating because I get the EWCM and I have a steady cycle.

Konbanwa · 17/11/2019 10:12

@notalwaysalondoner I have given up on the prospect of DTD everyday or even every other day! I think as long as we can do as many as possible between cd10 and cd17 we show be good. But how often we actually end up doing it will depend on if it is mid week or weekends! We are definitely more enthusiastic at the weekend because we aren't so busy and tired!

@Itsemily That sounds stressful for both you and DH. Maybe you can start using OPKs but in secret? Seems like it will be hard for your DH if he get into the mindset of every time you want to DTD it's because of TTC! Hope you have a good spa day!

@CurbsideProphet I've never tried a Pilates class? Is it fun? I'm more of a solo gym goer rather than joining in a group class but I do enjoy the odd yoga class 👍

Btw, is anyone else finding that they produce loads more CM now they are off birth control? This might be a bit tmi but I find that I feel very wet down there all the time since coming off the pill! I'm going to have to get some panty liners I think 😬

gemgem1404 · 17/11/2019 10:05

Anybody else get really nervous to test in case it's negative. I'm 2 days late but I can't bring myself to test in case I get a BFN 🙈

notalwaysalondoner · 17/11/2019 09:42

I feel I’m in the same boat - want to maximise chances, but don’t want to make myself and DH feel that DTD is a chore! This month my temps are still low but I’m almost sure I’ve ovulated due to OPKs, CM and cervix, so might not bother with temping next month. It’s annoying as when I temped just out of interest for three months earlier this year it worked perfectly and rose exactly when I’d expect ovulation!

@Itsemily I just haven’t mentioned OPK results to my husband and we are just DTD every other day between about CD 10 and CD17. But if I know there was a positive OPK I might initiate DTD in the morning rather than the evening or vice versa to have a better shot. Might that work for you as then your DH doesn’t need to know the results? We also find DTD every other day for the whole month a bit much!

I think I’m 4dpo and I’m going to break my own rule and do a first response test next Friday as it’s my 30th birthday and I’ve got a whole weekend planned, and would feel bad drinking loads without at least testing!

itsheapsswell · 17/11/2019 09:16

@Itsemily I feel in exactly the same scenario as you. I’m 10dpo today and had a negative 1st response at 4am this morning. My boobs are really pretty sore (as in if I’m not pregnant they haven’t been this sore before AF for at least 2 years). They also feel a lot bigger, but I could be imagining that. I also feel pretty bloated and seeing as I’m probably only 4ish days off my expected period I could definitely just be patient and wait. I think this morning I’m going to go to Boots and get 2x first response tests, do one this afternoon and one tomorrow and if they’re both negative then I won’t be doing ANYMORE this cycle because I’ve clearly missed it. Also I know exactly what you mean about the pressure. I’ve had a previous partner who would have been the same as that!

I completely know what you all mean about OKPs. I now have to start thinking that this could take a year and the best thing for my mental health is probably best to just do it every other day from CD10-22 and then whenever else in the cycle the mood strikes.

I feel REALLY disheartened today as everything seemed to match up so I know it wasn’t a case of bad timing.

CurbsideProphet · 17/11/2019 08:44

That sounds a really lovely and relaxing way to spend your Sunday Smile

GaaaaarlicBread · 17/11/2019 07:10

@Jonesbabynumber1 we tried OPK’s last month and the end of September (although end of September didn’t really count as I wasn’t having a proper cycle after my coil). The reason we stopped was because DH didn’t like the pressure even though I wasn’t saying anything , he just assumed every time I initiated sex he was like ‘are you ovulating’

@CurbsideProphet yeah I’ve started reading books more , having movie days and going out walking , work projects and we are having a spa day today - got a good code off groupon lol

Oh I feel the pain of not wanting to feel like I'm pushing DH to DTD for the specific reason of ttc. It could take months or longer and I don't want us to feel like it's another chore on the life admin list.

I've wanted to be a mum for so long it's very difficult to not know how long it might take / if it might never happen. If it helps I'm trying to fill my life with other things like having a sort out, starting a new Pilates class, looking for training opportunities at work. Just little things, but they can help fill the void.

Jonesbabynumber1 · 16/11/2019 21:43

Well you’ve tried not using opk maybe it is worth trying them as least you don’t have to stress about doing it all time just in case, it is more accurate but not totally precise. One month I got positive opk this month I think I must have missed it although I tested twice a day but my temps are showing I’ve ovulated. It’s all overwhelming and I agree I think I’d be better off without the internet. Im trying to see opks and temping as a way of understanding my body rather than relying on it for TTC if that makes sense but still having sleepless nights.

GaaaaarlicBread · 16/11/2019 21:15

@Jonesbabynumber1 let me re-write what I previously posted above lol

So, no way DH would do it that much - well he’d do it but wouldn’t be able to finish. I know this from experience. we have done every other day before but he usually struggles to go at the end. That is why I worry about OPKing as he would go into panic mode knowing I was ovulating and would stress about not finishing and he'd end up not being able to. It is all well and good him saying it's a good idea to track but he'll soon be the first to moan about stress lol. I’m hoping I have More signs of ovulation after AF this month as this month my cervical mucus wasn’t like it normally is when I ovulate, not sure why but it deffo wasn't the usual EWCM that I usually get. I can manage tracking CM by myself and not have to announce it to DH, whereas doing the kits will make me more stressed I think because I will be like omg we have to do it today. And I will end up googling relentlessly about what it means to have static smiley, how long til I ovulate etc. And if DH is on a 14 hour shift he won't want to be DTD when he gets home and I will just naturally feel sad. It's hard, I'm not liking this lol. Joining MN was the best yet worst decision of my life as I see all these wonderful 'BFP' posts etc and I am so so broody, and then read about people TTC for like 3 years and ugh it's too much

@itsemily your not out until AF shows. Did you do first response first pee of day? Must be hard with DH not wanting to do it everyday. I do every other after AF the everyday for about 3days I think ovulation then every 3 days could this work for you. Mind it hasn’t worked for me yet either.i know some people manage twice a day but I’d rather keep it more relaxed.

GaaaaarlicBread · 16/11/2019 19:13

I think AF is on the way . Really sore breasts and bloating . Similar to last month. I’ve just gone a First Response as DH said it’ll be good to know where we are etc . It was negative 👎🏻 maybe next month ! Unless I’m ovulating super late 😂 had a discussion with DH this morning about our plan going forward with regards to DTD. He says he cannot perform every day , and treat every other day is hard for him too and he’d much prefer every three days . So he said maybe testing for ovulation is a good idea now !! 😖

Thanks that’s helpful yes mine as gone up but not dramatically which is similar to yours. This is first month temping so still getting used to seeing patterns

Lea84TTC · 15/11/2019 20:09

@Jonesbabynumber1 my went up straight away really. To begin with I thought I’d have a shorter cycle but carried on with the OPK and ovulated late at the same time my temp dipped. Here is a picture.

Jonesbabynumber1 · 15/11/2019 20:00

@Lea84TTC I’m trying to temp but Finding it hard as I’m not a great sleeper so end up waking at different times. How long did it take your tempt to rise after ovulation was it slow or straight away? I had the did but my rise hasn’t been that big I’m hoping it keeps rising.

Lea84TTC · 15/11/2019 19:33

I’m currently 8DPO my temping worked by doing the same time everyday. Even at weekends but I then go back to sleep. It dropped today after rising for 7 days. Been unusually hormonally moody this morning, stomach felt bloated and weird today, headache and nipples hurt even more. Completely shattered so lying on the sofa already with a hot water bottle on my belly. CM is very creamy and sticky like now. I also have no interest in DTD. I work with 5 to 7 year olds as I’m a teacher so can’t escape facing children every day. X

Konbanwa · 15/11/2019 19:23

@Itsemily I know what you mean! I'm warring with how much I want to get in with TTC and also trying to time it right. But then I think that there is so little you can control in this process so it might be futile anyway!

Overall I'm just going to take it easy this month and just DTD when we fancy rather than scheduling it too much 🤞

GaaaaarlicBread · 15/11/2019 19:00

@Konbanwa don’t get too obsessed like me otherwise it’ll make you miserable

And I’m so glad you said that because when I was walking to work this morn and saw the school kids I thought to myself ‘hmmm well if I don’t get pregnant til like March next year , we could have a Christmas baby’ and then it got me thinking about schools and not being the youngest in the class etc 😂😂😂

Konbanwa · 15/11/2019 18:06

Hey guys! Well I relented and used my first OPK of this cycle at cd9 and had a faint second line which is promising.

After my super long cycle last time I just want to make sure that I am actually ovulating! Trying not to put too much pressure on for DTD though as I just want to take is easy and see how long this cycle is going to be so I have more of an idea of my cycle lengths. If it happens then it happens!

Also, has anyone else been thinking about due dates if they conceive in November and have a baby in August? A due date from September onwards would be best for school etc. but I really want a baby and don't want to miss any chances! I know that this is definitely me worrying and massively overthinking things though!

notalwaysalondoner · 15/11/2019 12:42

@Jonesbabynumber1 I do it at the same time every day (except weekends if I don’t wake up naturally). I thought mine were fairly predictable but then this month I did OPKs and got a positive two days ago and a very clear negative yesterday, but my temperature still hasn’t gone up! I think even drinking water or going to the loo in the last hour or so affects it. But am sure I ovulated as I had EWCM and soft cervix as well as OPK. I might stop bothering next month if we don’t get PG and just stick to OPKs, CM and cervix.

CurbsideProphet · 15/11/2019 12:09

I really wouldn't know how to check my cervix Confused
