Really need some help on when I would have conceived.. Horrible situation to be in!
I went for a scan on Monday 30th September, they told me I was 7 week & 4 days. The first day of my last period was around Monday 5th August 2019 ended the Thursday/Friday that week.
I slept with my ex partner Sunday 11th & Monday 12th August after my period. I then started sleeping with my new partner from Saturday 17th August and did do for the rest of the month.
This 2 week they add on to pregnancy is really confusing me! Can anyone please help me?
Thank you.

With a normal 28day cycle and assuming you have a normal 14day luteal phase you would have ovulated around the 18th August. Unless you ovulated extremely early in your cycle I’d say it was your new partner. When did you get a positive pregnancy test?

HoppingPavlova · 03/10/2019 11:55

It really could be either, you will need a DNA test.

Rose87777 · 03/10/2019 11:45

Difficult situation OP, must be stressful for you! I would say the father is probably the 2nd partner. wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy xx

sarahc336 · 03/10/2019 10:58

Wow some people are really judgemental aren't they! I really feel for you, it's not ideal but it's happened now and if you want to carry on with the pregnancy then that is your choice. Obviously with the dates and not knowing exactly when you ovulated you will need a dna test to be sure, scans are only an estimate and as someone said befor sperm can last up to 5 days so it really is hard to know, but i wish you good luck!! Smile

I'm sorry you are getting so much negativity OP, that's not what we need when we come for advice.
New (and old) relationships are fraught enough with out the added stress of an early pregnancy and a genetic lottery!
Many women in the same position have just told their preferred partner that the baby is theirs, which you could do and test later (with or without telling him before you get the result)
According to a scientific article I read while at university up to 1/5 of children in uk schools do not have the father that their father thinks they have iyswim, so this situation is VERY much more common than people would have you believe!

Rachelover60 · 03/10/2019 09:53

Im so sorry that you thought I was judging you. When I read your opening post I pictured you as being a young teenager and I was wrong about that.

You do what you think is right and can cope with.

Ginger1982 · 03/10/2019 08:23

Did you use protection with either man?

Kayjay2018 · 03/10/2019 08:19

@Justmez0 I had a scan on Saturday and measured 7+ 5 (a couple of days ahead against my AF dates). I track my ovulation by temping so know I ovulated around 21st August and so fell pregnant around that time. You need to be kind to yourself, if you are feeling like me, hormones are all over the place and I'm less rational and more emotional than normal. Do what's right for you, not anyone else and if that's keeping going with the pregnancy then a dna test later will give you an answer.

justchecking1 · 02/10/2019 21:39

Being 7+4 means you conceived/ovulated around the 24th August. It's not an exact science but even given that it can be 3-4 days out and that sperm can live 5-7 days, it feels very unlikely that you would have conceived with sperm from the 11th or 12th August.

More likely it's your new partner but the dates aren't quite far enough apart to be entirely sure.

RunsForGummyBears · 02/10/2019 20:31

If money isn't an issue you can get a in utero DNA test - they cost around £900. Don't beat yourself up, these things happen often enough.

00100001 · 02/10/2019 20:25

So... You had unprotected sex with the new guy?

SummerHouse · 02/10/2019 19:05

Good luck OP. It is a horrible situation to be in but it could be the best thing that's ever happened to you. Flowers

SummerHouse · 02/10/2019 19:03

*Your weeks of pregnancy are dated from the first day of your last period.

This means that in the first 2 weeks or so, you aren't actually pregnant*

SummerHouse · 02/10/2019 19:00

I think you need to talk this through with a professional and your new partner. The 7 wks plus 4 has two weeks added on I am pretty sure of that. So you would technically only be 5 weeks plus 4 days.

bengalcat · 02/10/2019 17:38

In all honesty it could be either . Sperm can live for 5- 7 days so a deposit from your your ex on D7 and D8 of your cycle could be waiting in your Fallopian tube for a possible ovulation from D 11 onwards . Second man deposited on D13 so yes he could be father .
Sorry for the situation you find yourself in .
As a general rule for other ladies reading this can I suggest you only have unprotected sex with one man per menstrual cycle to minimise future confusion .

dontpooyoureyesturnbrown · 02/10/2019 17:21

Sorry @Justmez0

I read recently you can now get dna tests before a baby is born. Might be worth investigating.

Justmez0 · 02/10/2019 17:17

@dontpooyoureyesturnbrown money isn't an issue but thanks

@DtPeabodysLoosePants never asked this before in my life thanks

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 02/10/2019 17:09

Oh hello again OP. Didn't you ask this a month or so ago? And before that?

momtoj · 02/10/2019 17:02

You need to put the dating out your head, for example I jumped from 12 weeks to 12 weeks 5 days after one scan and then another day the following week. I knew that wasn’t possible as I knew the exact date I consciences (and was in line with 12 weeks not 12.5) but they said it didn’t matter it’s just measuring the baby. The only way you’ll find out is with a DNA test

Tilltheendoftheline · 02/10/2019 16:46

Did you use protection with either?

I would suggest a sexual health check.
