A whole load of “up yours” to ttc

I saw a post like this on a non conception board and thought it was quite funny and cathartic so I thought I’d start one.

I’ve got a whole bag of “up yours” to the trying to conceive process. Who wants one?! I’ll start.

Up yours to 10 months of ttc #2 and everyone telling me it’s quicker the second time around as your body knows what to do.

Up yours to indent lines on one step tests and frer’s

Up yours to people telling me to “relax and it will happen”.

Up yours to the age gap which is quickly getting bigger and bigger between DS1 and potential DC2.

That’s me done.

I'm just thinking too on ovulation tracker apps there should be a symptom listed as:
"Feeling like a dirty bag of sh*t"
For when Aunt Flo is due....

Bananaloaf88 · 22/10/2019 19:36

@chefwifelife I feel you.

Up yours also to Aunt Flo taking her god damn time when you know she's a coming. CD39 and fed up...

Chefwifelife · 22/10/2019 19:26

Oh and I need to add my own up yours today.

Up yours to "spotting". I mean what kind of a cruel bloody (literally) game is that?! Is it implantation.... oh no wait... it's just AF creeping up on you like a sadistic red ninja!

Chefwifelife · 22/10/2019 19:24

@NeuroMama big hugs for you. Welcome to the thread where no one is ever alone. I don't know why I wanted to write "chin up cupcake" but then realised I'd be putting it on here as an "up yours" twatty comments Smile

OP posts:
NeuroMama · 22/10/2019 17:39

Oh boy did I need this thread! It's only been 7 months so I feel like I have no right to rage, but I am just so frustrated and sad with the whole process.

Up yours to waiting so long to ttc, thinking 'oh but statistically its likely it'll be easy. Might as well wait for the ideal time'.

Up yours to being in the stage where your not sure if it's just normal 'it might take a while' or if this is the start of years of infertility and heartbreak

Up yours to being 34 1/2 and having to wait 12 months not 6 to start checking if this is actually a medical issue

Up yours the indecision of whether to just go privately for tests.... if this is just normal what a waste of time and money

Up yours to treating my stupid body like a temple so I can feel like I am doing everything in my power to make it work

Up yours to missing out of fun because my body is meant to be a f**king temple

Up yours to the taint of heartbreak I feel when I cuddle my best friends newborn

Up yours to sex being tainted with sadness!

Up yours to turning down an awesome work project because I thought I'd be on maternity leave when it happened

Up yours to feeling like I am holding my breath with my career until I know if/when I need to take time off

Up yours to this process sending my depression and anxiety into a tail spin after a decade of having it under control

Up yours to the fear that infertility might topple my mental health over the precipice again

Up yours to not telling anyone about ttc because you don't want to feel the pressure of them waiting too, but then not having anyone to talk to

Up yours to being at the age where everyone in your life is having babies

Up yours to everyone constantly asking why you aren't having one yet since you seem to love babies so much!

Bananaloaf88 · 22/10/2019 10:34

I want to add some more!

  • Up yours to putting life on hold "incase your pregnant" not applying for jobs, not booking holidays, not splurging on clothes (in case they won't fit long!)
  • Up yours to people who say "at least you know you can get pregnant" after a miscarriage
  • Up yours to PMS symptoms tricking you into thinking your pregnant.
  • Up yours to not feeling like "you" anymore because "you" are someone who was pregnant and looking forward to being a mum & now Life feels false.
  • Up yours to teaching kids whose parents don't deserve the kids they have
Bananaloaf88 · 22/10/2019 10:17

I needed this today.

  • Up yours to seeing all the pregnancy announcements on FB from people who conceived around the same time as my miscarried pregnancy.
  • Up yours to mid-cycle bleeding & irregular cycle post miscarriage.
  • Up yours to being 15 DPO with no sign of AF & a BFN test.
  • Up yours to my sister who has fallen pregnant super quicky 3 times but told me after my miscarriage that i'm better of without kids
  • Up yours to the man who said "Isn't it about time you thought about kids" two weeks after my miscarriage.
  • Up yours to DH feeling pressured by "scheduled" sex and failing to finish the deed.
  • Up yours to having sore breasts & nipples for two weeks now 🙄
  • Up yours to people telling you "Forget about it and it will happen"
Goingbacktokansascity · 22/10/2019 10:03

Up you to doing a test at 8DPO even though you know it’ll be negative because there’s a tiny bit of hope. And up you to the disappointment

KCT93 · 22/10/2019 10:02

Loving this thread, so had to join!

Up yours to everyone asking if you're trying for a baby now married (yes, but it is not as easy as it is for some people!!)

Up yours to my best friend falling pregnant straight after coming off the pill, when I started trying before her! (so happy for her but so jealous!)

Up yours to the MIL for saying the present she wants for Christmas doesn't cost a thing (hinting at a Grandchild!)

Up yours to everything baby that seems to be EVERYWHERE since trying!!!

Up yours to getting no pregnancy symptoms in this TWW so knowing full well that AF is probably on its way!

Angry
Dollywilde · 22/10/2019 09:27

@BeingATwatItsABingThing Flowers to be honest I had no idea it was going to be like this this time last year. I’m trying to exercise patience as I’d have probably said the same things! I just tend to be pleased that people have been lucky and try and remember me being jealous doesn’t get me anywhere.

A slightly more lighthearted one as I’m trying to cut down my caffeine intake... up yours to all the shops which don’t sell caffeine free Diet Coke Angry

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 22/10/2019 07:42

I want to apologise to you all as a mum of a ‘happy accident’. DD was not planned at all and I conceived her within 2 months of being with DH. Now that I am struggling to conceive, I understand how much you want to punch those people. I am also remembering some of the insensitive things I did without thinking about it.

Up yours to myself for thinking TTC DC2 would be just as easy as DD.

tiggerifficmummy · 21/10/2019 21:27

I'd like to join please! So many sad but helpful insights from you all!!

I'd like to say

Up yours to 17 month of ttc and nothing

Up hours to the mc I had at 6 weeks the first time we were ttc then waited for a year before trying again!!

Up yours to being a week late but still getting bfn after bfn

Up yours to all the symptoms I think I have every month 😡

Up yours to all the people that ask me every time I see them - would you want children together though? At your age?

And up yours to oh slow swimmers and dwindling libido which always seems to dwindle around the fw 😭

whatdayisit7 · 21/10/2019 19:41

@Dollywilde used to ovulate on cd18 which felt late enough but after mc it's been cd31, 25, 22 and 21. Hoping it happens next couple of days!! Ditto to the hideous time of just WAITING AROUND, literally drives me insane.

Totally ridiculous too but feeling an up yours to yet another baby bomb of the Radford baby 22. Second one since they've announced/having since I started ttc and I can't even get sodding one. One!

Dollywilde · 21/10/2019 19:14

Quite, @banoffeepie91

Up yours to househunting and worrying a 2 bed isn’t practical for when we have our second when I’ve not even had a BFP for #1, but knowing we couldn’t afford to move after #1 even if we were that lucky...

Banoffeepie91 · 21/10/2019 19:06

Up yours to getting upset because I can feel AF on its way and taking it all out on OH even though he’s done nothing wrong.

Up yours to looking at buying a new house and checking all the primary school catchment areas for the new house to make sure we’d still be near the good schools but then deep down asking myself why I’m even bothering as never had even a sniff of a positive yet.

Dollywilde · 21/10/2019 18:22

Oh @whatdayisit7 I feel your pain. I have 35 day cycles (‘just about’ normal from what I can surmise although that’s not exactly reassuring) with a 14 day LP. As a result my weeks are

Week 1: Ragey with AF
Week 2: Ragey with impotence that NOTHING IS HAPPENING
Week 3: STILL WAITING then frenzy of DTD
Week 4: Start of 2ww
Week 5: Continuation of 2ww

Cycle days 5 - 20 when I’m waiting for ovulation just feel like wasted time. I hate them so so much. TWW is sooo preferable, at least I can symptom spot and do something

So yeah, up yours long cycles! (Guess who’s on CD11 Angry?)

whatdayisit7 · 21/10/2019 17:48

@Chefwifelife yes to this! Up yours to being 'super fertile after mc' well mine was 6 months ago and I'm not pregnant!

Up yours to having messed up cycles after mc. Cd19 now and no ovulation yet.

Chefwifelife · 21/10/2019 15:46

Yes yes yes keep em coming and lighten the load.

Up yours to the very lovely Gynae registrar who was doing so well until she uttered the words "it's only been 10 months"...... 🤬

OP posts:
BeingATwatItsABingThing · 21/10/2019 15:43

Up yours to my favourite cousin telling us she’s pregnant again and me starting to hate her.

Up yours to the class of children who seemed to be desperately trying to break me today. Why do their parents get to have children when they can’t control them and I don’t?

Up yours to being in the fertile window and not in the mood at all.

pixelflower · 21/10/2019 14:49

Up yours to all the advice is to be healthy all the time and have no unealthy habits, when sometimes feels the unhealthiest people are the ones who have accidents and surprises.

Dollywilde · 21/10/2019 12:05

Up yours to the fact I am being a total grump about:

  • lovely friend having twins this week
  • other really lovely friend announcing she's pregnant and due in May
  • lovely colleague bringing in her baby to the office

Up yours to starting mornings peeing on my hand

Up yours to 'just relax and it will happen'

Up yours to my mother who doesn't think that it's 'productive to talk about it'

Up yours to my sheer bloody naivety in assuming that I'd be pregnant by Christmas when we started this year

Up yours to the fact that I want to grumpily drink and smoke, then I think I shouldn't in case it stops me getting pregnant

Up yours to my mother in law who spent approximately 43 of the 48 hours I spent in her presence this weekend banging on about grandchildren. Not our children, precisely, but seeing as DH is an only child what the hell else am I meant to imply?!

zoomies1 · 21/10/2019 11:51

@waitingforarainbow I hear you. I was waiting for someone to mention that.

UP YOU BABY BOMBS! And that horrible feeling you get in your stomach like you’ve been punched but you have to smile and say ‘that’s great news Grin’ when you feel Envy. Only lasts a few minutes though - esp when the other person has had a sh*t time too.

waitingforarainbow · 21/10/2019 08:49

Up yours to the news story I've just read about the woman who's now expecting her 22nd baby! TWENTY SECOND!!!

Goingbacktokansascity · 21/10/2019 06:42

Amen to the up yours to accidental pregnancies and happy surprises. Absolutely UP YOU.

Up you to day dreaming about the positive test, due date, names, little bundle, and then AF shows up with a vengeance 😭

Up you to the swinging optimism and pessimism

Chefwifelife · 21/10/2019 06:28

Up yours to all the well meaning people saying "I've heard you're super fertile after a MC" and watching your temps dip, and knowing in your heart of hearts that you're not one of those people.
