TTC first baby 1 year + thread 2

@starkid I had a hycosy but it’s basically the same, I was crampy after and bled for a few days. I had the whole day off and luckily it was a Friday so I didnt need to go back till Monday but I could have definitely gone back the next day, I wouldn’t have like to have gone back straight after the procedure though

@RosettaR - so hard not to symptom spot each month, fingers crossed for you.
@FlapJackered - good for you for deciding to take back some control, you deserve it after everything you've been through xx

So I just got told I can have my HSG dye test this Thursday morning!
So happy, was sure would have to wait til next cycle. For those who have had it done, did you go back to work after or take the rest of the day off? Was there a lot of discomfort after, or just a bit during?

@FlapJackered it's really harsh that a diagnosis like that doesn't mean you're eligible for ivf sooner on the nhs. What's the point of even testing if they still make you wait two years?

I am due af today, and I swore to myself that this month, I would not get my hopes up an I would not get upsrt when she does arrive. But when af is late it's so hard! Why is my body playing these games?

Thanks @Maisy24 it is really hard, but I just wish I had realised this before. Antisperm antibodies I think basically mean DHs immune system is overreacting and attacking his sperm which then clump together which means they can't access the egg.

@RosettaR ah ok so not that long: we have been not trying since July; but properly tracking and trying since January, I'm just hopeful that it's taking time and it will happen. I've not had AMH yet , I'm genuinely scared of having it, even though I know it doesn't really mean much.

@FlapJackered that's interesting, what does anti sperm antibodies actually mean then? Did you find that out from a sperm analysis? We're just waiting on the results of that. If it's 1% then you did well to get pregnant in January. I'm sorry for your loss I bet that was heartbreaking, but it's very promising for the upcoming IVF.

@RosettaR my sister went on the anti-inflammatory diet before her latest ivf round and it was successful and she is sure the diet helped. We will have to start looking for ivf tips! Which clinic are you going to use?

@Maisy24 we have been trying for 2 years in January. We aren't eligible for nhs ivf for another year because I had a miscarriage in January but I have just found out in another thread than we have about a 1% likelihood of getting pregnant naturally as DH has anti-sperm antibodies. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Just wish I had realised earlier.

@Maisy24 I've only been trying since last September so will be paying for ivf. I would probably leave it a bit longer if it wasn't for the low amh but that has me spooked!

I have spent this evening reading about recommended nutrition for ivf. It seems it is all about fat and protein which will be hard for me as I love carbs! I have also ordered co q10 supplements. Hopefully it's not too late for these things to make a difference!

@RosettaR I think doing the opks is fine and not as stressful as temping, is keep up with that as you hear so many stories of people starting ivf and then conceiving naturally!

@RosettaR @FlapJackered how long have your two been trying? So exciting that you are both going to be starting ivf. I think we're going to look Into it if we get good results from dhs sperm analysis, probably January time.

So we have decided we will go for ivf as soon as possible, and forget the clomid. We have a planning appointment booked for two weeks time, and I'm hoping we will be able to do the cycle in November.

Thanks for your messages and your support after my appointment @KatBeCool, I was feeling terrible and you really helped.

I stopped temping as I was finding them a source of anxiety. So much questioning why my temp isn't higher or lower depending on the time of month, and googling what it might mean. I'm just using opks now which is better. The consultant told me to completely stop tracking but I can't bring myself to.

Had a chat with DH yesterday and we have decided if no luck by January we will do IVF! Currently trying to decide where, but it feels good to have a deadline now.

@Maisy24 no difference in cycle length or anything but definitely felt less anxious, I think it's worth a go!

@FlapJackered @KatBeCool did you both notice any differences in cycle length when you stopped temping? I might consider it after this cycle and just put the effort into BDing every two days and using clear blue.

@KatBeCool good will power! 💪🏻 I think it is the way forward. I don't temp any more and it is amazing how I can almost forget about ttc sometimes now!

@maisy24 if my cycle wasn't monitored by the fertility clinic, I'd continue temping, but I see no point. Taking all the hormones I am, it makes my temps go crazy and make me question everything, so I'd rather not.

@bunhead34 I think we need to relax about age and put it out of our minds, as long as an egg is being released we are in the race!

The comments are awful, I would never ever say to someone when are you having a baby, it's rude. It's crazy how it would be unacceptable to say to someone "so when are you getting a career then?" Or "when are you buying your own house?" Yet constant comments about having a baby people don't think twice about

I will be pushing my doctor for a referral, I'm not sure if I want the results to come back low or normal; at least we'd have an answer if they weren't normal. Then again I don't want dh to be worried.

It's not such a bad thing he's working away for half of it, he can be building them up so you have a better chance on the times you bd!

@Maisy24 I've just turned 35, so really feeling the time pressure!
I know what you mean about the comments. It's awful! I was at a wedding last weekend and someone asked me when we were having a baby, and then told me you shouldn't ask people that as you never know 🤪
I've had the 'you're not getting any younger' comment from my dads wife. Imagine saying that to someone?!

We got the referral right after the SA results.
I'm not sure what the 'rules' are here, but it seems like the GP's either follow them or do what they want, so if the gp won't give a referral yet it's worth making an appointment with a different one!

I'm on CD 9, H is away for work for half of the FW, but hey-ho we'll give it a go!

@KatBeCool thank you, I don't blame you for not temping etc, I really do think it plays a part in it all. I wish I could stop temping but I can have a cycle that's 27 days long and a cycle that's 50 days long so I really never know when I'm going to ovulate

The funny thing is when I started ttc and naively thought it would just happen my cycles were always 28-30 days long. It's only since temping and obsessing over things they have moved longer.

@FlapJackered from every more or less medicine-adjacent source I saw, it said that between 1 and 2 is optimal. Little below 1 is fine but you don't want it above 2.

@bunhead34 sounds like we are in the exact same boat, how old are you? I'm 31 in December and feel like time is going so fast. I'm dreading my birthday as not only is it a reminder that I'm another year older with no baby, but I'll get the "are you not trying yet?" And "your not getting any younger" comments

I will push for the referral as soon as we get these results, thanks for the advice. How long did it take between the SA and the referral? I've read some have had to be trying 3 years?

I've just been on Instagram and another one of our friends have announced their pregnant with a scan picture. Im happy for them but it turns my stomach at the same time, which is awful. It's just so hard to see. I feel like everything around us is pregnant.

I swear when it does happen for us I will be really really careful about showing it off, I will always be thinking how it could make others feel. I will definitely not be smug in the slightest.

Where are you in this cycle? I'm on cd 12 so need to ramp up the bd now

@Maisy24 you should push to get referred once you get the SA results back.
We had 21day bloods,internal scan, and SA all come back fine and have now been referred.

I think it's quite routine that one of the first tests after you've been referred is AMH - I've had to go and get the blood test in advance of our 1st appointment with the consultant on the 23rd.

Sounds like you're in the same boat as me, we've been trying for around 18months. All tests fine, and never had a sniff of a line either!

It's so gutting when you hear someone else has gotten pregnant,especially without even trying. I'm finding it harder to be pleased for people, and can certainly not face and baby birthday parties / showers I have coming up. No ta!

@bunhead34 I've not been referred. This is our 16th cycle of Ttc and not so much as a symptom or faint line yet!

I've been to the doctors twice, first time I went I had the bloods done to check hormones and then the day 21 to check I was ovulating and they said everything came back perfect. This was at 9 months trying and they said to carry on for another 6 months. I was worried as my period is only a maximum of 2 days after coming off the pill. But the doctor was adamant this didn't mean anything.

I then went back at 12 months ttc as my cycle lengths were different every month (sometimes 27, sometimes 35, and one cycle was 50 odd days). This time they sent me for an internal scan, I had the scan and they said everything was fine. they said the lining was fine also as I was worried about that.

My husband is going for the SA today so hopefully we will get the results of that in the next few weeks. Once I get them I'm going back as I want to be referred.

The bloods wasn't for AMH, will this be tested once we get referred? Although like @RosettaR said I'm not sure I want to know....
