Hi, i have just got married and we are ttc our first! We started about 2 years ago but then my husband had an accident and we stopped then we were planning a wedding so we only just started again 3 months ago. I am 39 and my OH is 40. I'm a bit worried about my age and what steps I should be taking etc. Any advice or someone to chat to in the same boat would be lovely as I feel really alone on this journey xx

@Moominmiss I had my mirena removed on the 11th September. So I have no idea about my cycles at all. I had a sort of period on the 13th. I've been using the purple CB OPKs and it says that I'm currently highly fertile (third day running). I'm hoping for peak fertility tomorrow.

Maybebaby2 · 26/09/2019 17:04

AF finally arrived this afternoon, thankfully before I bought a load of tests to pee on! I'm actually relieved, hadn't mentally prepared myself to get caught straight off!
So cycle 2 here we go!...

BabyMoonPie · 26/09/2019 17:03

Thanks for the welcomes. Something strange is happening to me this month: straight from negative OPKs to peak fertility - no high. Already thinking this isn't my month

Icouldstillbejoseph · 26/09/2019 12:13

@StormBaby you sound very pregnant. I'm still hopeful for you

Icouldstillbejoseph · 26/09/2019 12:12

I had a Mirena coil removed 5 months ago and so don't think I qualify as being off contraception recently.
I was also one of the lucky women who still had periods with a Mirena so, as soon as it came out, the periods just continued as normal - just got heavier and more painful. Great.

Moominmiss · 26/09/2019 12:06

Is anyone here fairly recently off birth control?
I’m supposedly now 4 days late but with constant stark white bfn’s I am convinced now it’s nothing to do with being pregnant, and that I am instead just taking forever to get a ‘normal’ period after stopping the pill.

I’m just so impatient and really feel like I’ve just left it too late, and it makes me so upset and sad when I think about it as my dp is amazing with my daughters and would just make the most amazing father. Sad

StormBaby · 26/09/2019 11:59

Welcome to all the new ladies!

I've not tested again, I'm too scared to get a negative. 10 days late today. Feel very pregnant(food aversion, sensitive nose, weeing loads, cramping constantly). I'll probably cave and test again tomorrow.
As I mentioned before, I had this with both my boy pregnancies, just couldn't get a positive test for weeks and weeks. Do remaining hopeful!

Elles1980 · 26/09/2019 11:43

Morning ladies thanks for the welcome 🥰!
@Icouldstillbejoseph oh really, it's nice to have someone to relate too. TTC is tough mentally. IV gone through the whole googling stuff every single day to last night just waiting to see and obviously that was a chem. I'm trying to remain super positive (tough job also)! Just wanted to send some hugs to all of you ❤️ xxx

Icouldstillbejoseph · 26/09/2019 07:20

@BabyMoonPie welcome :)
I have that feeling too - like it's not going to happen. I obviously want to be wrong.

BabyMoonPie · 25/09/2019 22:25

Can I join? I'm 39 and TTC number 2 since January. DD is 2.8 and took 8 cycles to conceive. I've lost weight, upped exercise, got healthier, cut out alcohol and caffeine and started reflexology. I take vitamins, use OPKs and conceive plus. I feel like I'm doing everything I can but not a hint of a BFP. I'm having blood tests next week but part of me thinks it's just not going to happen and I can't bear that thought

Maybebaby2 · 25/09/2019 22:10

Oh no @StormBaby how frustrating! But you are not out yet, still hopeful for you x

Still no sign of AF here and spotting has completely stopped. I hate this so much because now I'm sat looking at dates googling everything to do with ewcm, ovulation, implantation and I'm convincing myself that the spotting on Monday was implantation bleed.... but it wasnt! I have searched the house for an old stick to pee on but could only find old opks. I'm going to buy a test tomorrow after work, really desperate to poas now! But it will be negative and then AF will probably arrive the next day! Promised myself I wouldn't do any of this! Hmm

WooMaWang · 25/09/2019 10:28

Oh that is frustrating.

StormBaby · 25/09/2019 10:24

Yes @moowawang I've been tracking them for the whole 3 years we've been trying and they're usually 25 days ish. I'm now on day 33!

WooMaWang · 25/09/2019 09:00

That sounds really frustrating @StormBaby. Are your periods usually really reliable?

Icouldstillbejoseph · 25/09/2019 08:35

@StormBaby oh no. What a confusing, frustrating, annoying pain in the ass for you

StormBaby · 25/09/2019 08:06

Not a single thing showing on the first response. I am now 9 days late Sad

teachermam · 24/09/2019 23:47

Hello
39 and ttc also

WooMaWang · 24/09/2019 22:49

Oh yes, @Whyhaveidonethis. Definitely lots of that. 😁

I'm wondering how things will go this time. Both my sons were the result of contraception failure, so I've never tried to conceive before. But I was 18 and 27 back then.

Sheens79 · 24/09/2019 22:39

Don't lose hope ladies I conceived my first at 39. My DS is a perfect 8 month old now and we're about to try for a second at the age of 40.
Tips that worked for me
-losing weight (my BMI was 36) I fell pregnant after losing over a stone.
-prenatal vitamins
-ovulation sticks
-loads of shagging

It took 6 cycles with one loss (one bean just wasn't sticky).

Good luck.

Whyhaveidonethis · 24/09/2019 22:39

@WooMaWang I hope you've been did a lot!! 😂 welcome to the thread.

@Elles1980 sounds like you've had a horrible time. Hugs. I've had 3 CPs and that was bad enough. My DC are 19, 12 and 9 so big age gaps here too. Ttc at our age is shit. Would you believe ds3 was conceived in the one time we had sex and we used the withdrawal method. Who'd a thought it would be so hard now.

Maybebaby2 · 24/09/2019 21:45

@Icouldstillbejoseph sorry I got mixed up I thought you'd said you have high FSH but it was @Whyhaveidonethis

Hi @Elles1980 you got the link 👍I wasn't sure because my reply was quite late, anyway glad you found us! Did you have the hysteroscopy yet? Not sure exactly what a hysteroscopy is but I think it's a camera in the womb, is that right?

Icouldstillbejoseph · 24/09/2019 19:54

@Elles1980 I'm in a similar position and a lot of what you said resonated with me. I feel like I really want to experience the joy of having a baby with my new partner who is so much better than the exH

Elles1980 · 24/09/2019 18:42

Oh gosh I feel good for writing all that 😂

Elles1980 · 24/09/2019 18:41

@Maybebaby2 thank you for linking me in to the thread ❤️! So happy to have found you ladies be so honest and who are not afraid to call bullshit on TTC! I feel bad because I have 4 wonderful children ds 21 dd18 dd9 &dd5. I'm going to be 40in January and oh 42 next month, hes a new partner 1.5years, who was told he couldn't have children so we were overjoyed when I had my coil out in Jan and we fell pregnant in Feb!! Sadly in may we MC really badly the hospital said it was a 'freak occurrence' I had cervical shock and had to be ressucitated and have d&c etc. It was the most awful time ☹️, I felt more for oh than me because he has no children and we'd gotten so far. We've been trying again since July, had a bfp 2 weeks ago after having a late period and sadly MC that one too. But no where near like the first. It was more just like a period 🤷🏻‍♀️?! I use a cbfm and I peaked yesterday and Sunday, I managed to convince oh to dtd (he'd out me on a sex ban because I hadn't stopped spotting in between periods so been having lots of tests) so I guess it's just waiting for me again now. I'm taking folic acid, using pre-seed, eating healthy, exercising, what more can I do.... Loose a kidney sell an arm 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️! I wanna make this wonderful man a daddy, and I want to have a new bubba, I can't imagine my life without one more! How hard can it be, half the women in my town older than me are pregnant, just had babies it's a pain in my ass! So it's lovely to have a place to sulk! Any tips or advice would be so gratefully received ❤️😘 xxx

Yes, ubiquinol may support fertility in "advanced" maternal age. Water and fat-soluble forms absorb better. For vitamin D, test levels and work with your doctor on dosage if possible.
