Hi, i have just got married and we are ttc our first! We started about 2 years ago but then my husband had an accident and we stopped then we were planning a wedding so we only just started again 3 months ago. I am 39 and my OH is 40. I'm a bit worried about my age and what steps I should be taking etc. Any advice or someone to chat to in the same boat would be lovely as I feel really alone on this journey xx

12 dpo and too scared to test for fear of disappointment 🙄!! When does everyone else test ladies.... I'm going nuts lol! No signs or symptoms at all so I'd guess not but still that little bit of hope xxx

Bobbielove321 · 30/09/2019 14:41

Hiya! Yes i would like to try every other day but I work nights. I ovulated last Friday ( strong ovulation pains ) but had sex on the Thursday. I hope there is a chance? As ive heard sperm can live for up to 5 days inside a woman’s body.
Did you have symptoms 3 days after conception?
I said to my partner we should have tried on the day but he had man flu! I was quite angry as he just had the sniffles to be honest.
I was sat upstairs upset and ovulating, he was downstairs just lying on the sofa. He doesn’t understand me when I say we need to try more! He thinks it will just happen when it’s meant to be.

mclover · 30/09/2019 13:45

If you are in a hurry ....
I spent / wasted a year following the OPK sticks - didn't work for me. I saw a fertility doctor and he said that if you have sex every other day for 2 months you'll get pregnant. We did ... and did! Did the same when trying for our other children and got preggie pretty much straight away.
Good luck :)

Bobbielove321 · 30/09/2019 13:07

Hello! Awww I think we are problem worrying too much. Apparently it can take a year! I hope not!
If we are ovulating we should be able to get pregnant 👍
I hope it happens as I’ve already bought some lovely maternity dresses ❤️

Bobbielove321 · 30/09/2019 13:01

Hello! Thank you for replying!

My partner likes everything to happen naturally and won’t be rushed. He has two teenagers already and I have a 12 year old.
To be honest I think he’d rather just continue like we are, and not have anymore. But I’ve always wanted another.

Should we be noticing changes in cervical fluid 2 DPO?
Surely it wouldn’t change so early? Mine just looks like the non-fertile thick-ish consistency. Driving me mad this is! haha

I work nights so can only try twice a week! You are so lucky to be able to try everyday 😁

Moominmiss · 30/09/2019 12:16

Hi and welcome to any newbies Smile

@Bobbielove321 sounds like we may be in similar situations.
I’m 37, I have 3 children already but dp has none, he’s 29. I stopped taking the pill at the end of August. Had a withdrawal bleed, and then ovulated (or at least think I may have done based on cramps and discharge). Then my expected af date was 22nd September but having only recently come off the pill I was basing my expected date on my old pill cycles, so as can often happen it took a little while longer for af to arrive, but it arrived a week later (28th) so I’m currently on cd3 and hoping it might all regulate again from now on but not holding my breath.
Dp and I both have extremely high sex drives thankfully and he’s so excited about ttc that he’s always up for it, so we tend to dtd once a day, although I’m trying to limit it to once every other day as I know it’s better for his swimmers to have time to build back up lol.
I’m a massive symptom spotter and over thinker so I know I’ll be terrible during the tww!

OnmyWayto40 · 30/09/2019 11:49

Hey everyone just found this thread - I'm 39, have a 17 year old daughter from previous relationship. Married almost 2 years (hubby almost 38 with no children) so we decided to try and see what happens! I stopped desogestrel (mini pill) after 6 years and had what I believe is a withdrawal bleed on 20 August lasted 4 days. Now just waiting to see when my period is, how my cycle behaves and of course DTD. Feel so out of touch as my only pregnancy was almost 18 years ago- taking vitamins and trying to be healthy. Feeling open minded and trying not to overthink but that's not so easy with my age! Reading posts has helped and hoping to share the journey with you 💕

Bobbielove321 · 30/09/2019 11:31

Hello! I can off the pill a month ago, I had all the ovulation signs but maybe it just didn’t happen?
I am 2 DPO, no symptoms. I had sex the day before OV, I hope there’s s chance!

Bobbielove321 · 30/09/2019 11:11

Hello!!! Can I ask ... do you have any symptoms? I have none.

I thought CM was meant to increase and not be sticky?
In my last pregnancy I had symptoms from day one, which ended in MC

Sorry for being so blunt!

Bobbielove321 · 30/09/2019 11:08

Hi can I join in please! I am nearly 37 and I have a 12 year old.

My husband and I are trying for a baby! But he said when happens it happens. He will not do it to a sex schedule, which is so unfair as I need to swap my nights around if I ovulate. But he gets funny if I plan it, he thinks I only want to have sex for a baby. He doesn’t understand 😔

Anyway I’m 2 days past ovulation, no signs!

Though I had sex day before OV, not on day as I was doing night shift.

Do you think there’s a chance?

Whyhaveidonethis · 30/09/2019 10:11

Hi @Elles1980 welcome!! I'm 8dpo today af due on Sunday. Trying not to test early as I've had 3 CPs in the last 5 cycles.

Elles1980 · 30/09/2019 09:22

Aw ladies this is exactly what I need.... Kicking up the bum and shouting at!! Still a little stuffy from this cold and had the tiniest bit of blood this morning 🤷🏻‍♀️, I'm presuming that's my old cervical erosion! So I should have introduced myself properly,
Hi gals I'm Elle 39 (40 January), oh 42.
I have 4 kids 21,18,9&5. Oh has none. Was told he was infertile so we were overjoyed when we tried and fell first month together 😱. Sadly ended in a severe MC in may I went into cervical shock and hemorrhaged pretty badly, had to be rescucitated. Oh witnessed the majority and freaked out. We got over that and had a chemical last month. He again was the more upset one (I hope I don't sound rotten I was upset also but it affects him so badly). In between this IV been having internal and external scans Wheely Neely for continuous spotting bright red blood every morning. Have been diagnosed with cervical erosion. IV received an appointment to have a hysteroscopy through also but I'm 7dpo today so will wait to next week to make that. had a stinking cold Friday when I got the letter to make it and wasn't sure what to do, but IV not bled this month except my actual (don't know wether to call it period or MC 😩) only this morning had the teeniest spot of blood ever 🤷🏻‍♀️! So that's me, also massive symptom spotter and doer of my own head lol! Xxx

Maybebaby2 · 30/09/2019 08:55

that should say still conceive*.... too many typos, my brain is not functioning this morning! 😂

Maybebaby2 · 30/09/2019 08:39

I also found this interesting NHS article if anyone else is worried about their hormone levels. It basically says as long as you are still producing eggs and not fully in menopause you still can convince no matter what your FSH levels sre. It was a really comforting read and I will get test next cycle but I'm not going to stress so mich about it.

Maybebaby2 · 30/09/2019 08:34

Thanks @Whyhaveidonethis but I'm on cd5 today so I've cancelled. I found this which explains why it needs to me on a particular day.

Whyhaveidonethis · 29/09/2019 23:15

@Maybebaby2 this link says cd2-4 so I'd go for it. labtestsonline.org.uk/tests/fsh-test

Maybebaby2 · 29/09/2019 20:23

Any advice please on what I should do because I'm really winding myself up here. I didn't get the Amazon FSH test an I'm glad because I wouldn't have trusted the results. My FSH blood test is tomorrow but as I predicted AF is on her way out after 4 days I'm just spotting today so will have finished by tomorrow... so should I go and have the blood test anyway or wait till next cycle? I don't know how much of a difference it makes but I assume they ask you to have it mid AF for a reason. If I go tomorrow I won't be sure that results weren't affected but if I have to wait till next cycle I'm going to stress the whole time. What would you do?

@WooMaWang fab on the positive opk, time to get at it! Grin

WooMaWang · 29/09/2019 11:10

Oh yes. Step away from google, @Elles1980. Under no circumstances will that make you feel better about anything.

This morning I finally got a solid smiley face on the CB OPK, after 5 flashing ones. Annoyingly DP's mum is currently staying which he found quite off-putting this morning. She leaves at lunchtime though. Wink

BabyMoonPie · 29/09/2019 06:30

Elles1980 : STEP AWAY FROM GOOGLE! Sorry for shouting and I hope you feel better soon but it is a truth universally acknowledged that when looking for comfort on Google it kicks you up the posterior (been there recently reading about secondary infertility)

Elles1980 · 28/09/2019 22:03

I'm laid in bed with a stinking cold 5dpo and thought with all this time on my hands of research how likely is be to have a healthy pregnancy after 2 MC this year and being just about 40.... Well all IV succeeded in doing is making myheadache Worse and scaring the shit outta myself 😭!! Why does Google even have to exist.... Please someone come take my phone away!! Also bring medicine 😂😭🤦🏻‍♀️! Hope all you ladies are well Xxx

Maybebaby2 · 27/09/2019 22:52

So a friend just told me about these tests you can get on Amazon that test FSH levels. There's 2 poas tests an you do one day 2-7 AF an the other a week later, if you get a positive result on both it means you are in perimenopause. I can order an have delivered tomorrow but I know I'm opening myself up to a whole world of pain that is not necessary, they surely can not be reliable so why am I still considering ordering! Confused My blood test got moved to Monday but I'll prob have finished AF by then so will have to wait till next cycle to test! Wishing I didnt know about these Amazon tests, it's too tempting even though I know it'll be unreliable!

Oh and @Whyhaveidonethis I'm sorry but I cant see anything either. Have you put it through different filters on your camera? Sometimes the faintest of faint lines can show up clearer if you change the light etc or put it through a negative filter. Sorry not helpful but it's what I always used to do if I wasnt sure if I could see a line or not.

WooMaWang · 27/09/2019 09:19

I can't see anything either @Whyhaveidonethis. Although, admittedly, I am spectacularly shit at seeing faint lines.

Hopefully you'll get better news on the 7th.

It's my birthday that weekend (I'll be 39). I won't be testing til 2 weeks after I get a sodding solid smiley face on the purple CB OPK (it's a 4th day of flashing smileys today) so I may spend my birthday in what someone on the October bus called the 'Schrödinger's pregnancy' period (where you are both pregnant and not pregnant until you can test 😂).

I told DP that I wanted a (gestating) baby for my birthday when he asked.

Whyhaveidonethis · 27/09/2019 08:00

@Icouldstillbejoseph I need honesty!! Going to just leave it now until 7th October and see what happens

Icouldstillbejoseph · 27/09/2019 07:25

@Whyhaveidonethis I'm being very honest here - I can't see anything ...

Whyhaveidonethis · 26/09/2019 23:08

Ladies, i think I'm going mad. I had a cp last month. Bleeding started on 9th so that was cd1. Thing is I've really "felt pregnant" since. I'm 5 dpo now and yesterday I noticed that my nipples have gone brown. Also I have got two brown marks on my face, which I have had when pregnant before. They appeared 4 days ago.

Thing is, I know I am not pregnant, and even if I am this cycle it is far too early to have any signs or anything BUT I found an ic in my cupboard and so just peed on it and there is a faint line, maybe. It came up straight away and I can see it very slightly, hard to get a picture of it though.

Far too faint for a BFP from last month and I KNOW it's too early for this month, I've not really tracked very well but normally I ovulate on cd13 and today it is only cd 18. I've attached a picture of it. It's an Evan or in my imagination isn't it?
