Yes, GillyD, had exactly that thought this morning when ds burst into histrionic wailing when I suggested he might like to sit on his potty this morning...

and then decided that it was better to bite the toothbrush that use it and have another paddy when I brushed his teeth...

But then he creeps back into the bathroom looking a bit tear stained, with a little smile on his face (very cute) and comes for a cuddle and I think, yes, I could do with another one like that, despite the occasional tantrum.

I think that my main reason for wanting a second is what if... Even if he does make it in this world (that at times feels really scary as a parent), he may never find the right person to settle down with etc etc... In some ways being an only child puts quite a lot of pressure on - if anyone is to suceed it has to be you etc. This struck home when dh's younger brother managed to produce 2 girls in between us deciding to start trying and actually getting ds. That meant that m + fil had grandchildren, but mine didn't.

Definitely the way I went 2nd time. I wore things until I didn't fit into them. I had 1 maternity pair of work trousers, 1 work skirt (that didn't get worn much), and 2 pairs of home trousers together with tops and aforesaid jacket - jumpers - just bought xL normal ones, coat - borrowed dh's old one...

One of worst issues was shoes - ruined the ones I wore to work as stretched them. Walking the dog was the biggest problem, ended up only really being able to get wellies on conveniently - not very comfortable.

Have to think along the lines of when, not if... Last time not meant to be. Next time, fingers crossed

Aww, the room sounds lovely Mistlethrush! I curently have 2 pai4s of work trousers, in a bigger size, but not maternity, sitting in the wardrobe in a carrier bag, that I didn't get to wear. I'm going to go with the 'not tempting fate' line when it happens again (said in a positive voice).

I did find it very difficult buying anything 'before the date' - got fingers burned previously when I bought jacket for work suitable for pregnancy then had mc - followed by 18months not being allowed to start ttc - with jacket skulking in a cupboard all the time... Chose and booked the buggy in about March (May edd). Better that way than the way my neighbours went about it - announced pregnancy at 7wks, bought buggy, scan at 12 wks - found it was twins, by which time buggy had been in garage so couldn't be taken back, needed to buy new twin buggy....

Ds's room was decorated by my parents the week before he arrived (didn't need it immediately anyway)

BTW, ds's favorite 'blanket' on his bed is the quilt that my mother made for him. He also likes the picture that she painted for him - and knows that she did it specially for him. His room is not remotely themed I'm afraid, although there are lots of animals - just got things picked out because I liked them and suitable for girl or boy. (Yellow walls, denim blue curtains with appliqued animals...)

Hi Toomuch, and Mistlethrush! CD 7 for me, ugly old af put in her appearance at the airport on the way home. Dh if going on another(!!) stag do from Thursday lunchtime until Saturday evening, which I think is the run up to ov - ggrrr! So, he knows he is on baby making duties immediately before he sets off and on return, to try and make sure I have the neccessary ingredients !

Glad see I am in good list making company, Nomore! Lists for lists, and I always put something on I have alreday done, just so I can cross it off..

Kensgirl - Good to have you back - Sorry that you feel as if going to the DR is failing. I totally understand that feeling, I felt it too. But Nomore is right, lots of couples need a bit of a leg-up (great choice of phrase )

Hi everyone - back from a sunny week in Wales followed by bank holiday weekend spent doing hard labour in the garden, so shattered! At least we had fantastic weather that somewhat made up for very wet week in May. Although as music week, didn't make the most of it. Ds loved day on beach though - ran around like a mad thing and made unassisted sandcastles!

Have just caught up with last week - very busy here!

Welcome Sybil - sorry I wasn't here, no, you're not the only one not ttc#1 - me ttc#2 - suggested to dh that he might like to start cooperating again (complete lack of bonging last month (- grr re ttc, but also re no ....)

Hi Kensgirl. Cd9 for me. Don't think that we'll go further than ttc naturally, given past experience and the fact that we do have one fantastic ds.

We have: Triptrap chair - fantastic - like the lack of chair, great at the table and also good for crafts at a table.

Reusable nappies: we chose different ones than we would have done if we hadn't hired a 'variety' set from a nappy lady - which enables you to try lots of different sorts out. We would have bought all shaped, but ended up getting prefolds for at least some of the time. Certainly at the beginning, this means that you can change very regularly but don't have to spend a fortune, and they also dry quicker than lots of shaped. Later on our favourite wraps have been Nature Babies. Ds used these in nursery with shaped (Totsbots) with Bamboozle Totsbots and fleece wrap at night (with extra padding when necessary). Different shapes and types fit different baby shapes better, so strongly recommned some sort of trial before you invest a lot prior to birth... And, did you notice the use of past participle re ds's use of shaped at nursery - yes, he's potty trained - bascially did it himself at about 2.2, and at nursery the other children at the same stage were largely girls several months older than him. I think that the washables makes potty training earlier and easier...

Yeah, I like Evangeline too, not as much as Genevieve but still good. I really like Evie and so does dh, its the long version he's not sure off, but I reckon that a good few months of dropping it casually into conversations and he'll just get used to it.

Like Genevieve - my sis had a childhood freind called Genevieve. Have recently read a book with a character called Evangeline - which was shortened to Eve/Evie, which I also liked.

So, don't keep us in suspense, what's the name? We also considered Charlotte but it has become very very popular.

I really like Genevieve for a girl, Evie for short, but dh is not keen. I appreciate its one of those names you either love or hate but I love it.
