Coming off the pill side effects

I came off this pill in Mid/End February and got my breakthrough bleed end of March which then set the date for my periods going forward. I also worried about struggling to conceive after being on it 5 years but am currently over 6 weeks pregnant 🤞

I came off the mini pill a few years ago (for a break not TTC) and it took nearly 6 months for my first period, after not having any for years because of the pill! I'm now back on the same pill but I've started getting bleeding/spotting every 2 weeks, so hopefully if I come off again to TTC it won't take so long for my cycle to correct itself!

@Hayley94 I went and they said it’s completely normal, got blood tests and they came back fine. Been off pill 8 months now and pretty regular

When I first came off it and had my first period I would google all the time and all I would read about is other people and them bouncing back straight away to their normal cycles. I’m having some spotting atm which started on CD23 and I’m now CD26 but me and OH DTD a week before so I don’t know what to think! It’s so light and if it is AF it’s a lot earlier than previous cycles. Oh the joys!! I don’t know whether I’m coming or going! I’ve not got any hopes up but you just can’t help but wonder.

Hi @MrsERH I came off Cerazette and had first bleed 5 weeks later. Waiting for next period to be able to track cycle etc. Good luck!

I've come off the pill on and off a few times but have taken it for about 15 years in all. Every time I've come off I've had my withdrawal bleed then back to normal periods 28/29 days later. When I had my little boy I came off the pill the end of Oct and was pregnant beginning of Feb, I'm also quite overweight

Has anyone been to see their GP when they went off the pill for advice/health check or are you all doing it yourself x

Few years back now but I came off in the February, I remember terrible headaches. I got a short cycle in the April, then Mays was bit longer then conceived in the June. I didn't go back on it after giving birth & conception second time around was loads longer and harder. I heard/read you can be more fertile in the window after coming off contraception, this did ring true for me ( but I've not looked into scientific accuracy of that ! ) Good luck

But to make you feel better I had blood tests and the GP said my levels were fine. I’ve been regular (albeit 34 day cycles) ever since :)

If I miss as few as three days of that pill it triggers a really heavy painful withdrawal bleed with big clots and all sorts and the bleeding lasts way longer than my usual 3 day long periods.

Took me 80 days before I had my first AF.

Hey.. i came off that pill after 10 years and fell pregnant before I even had a first period, unfortunately pregnancy ended in MMC at 12 week scan , TTC just now first cycle 🤞🏽

Hi @MrsERH, I came off cerazette in July last year after being on it for 10 years and hadn’t had a period at all in that time. I didn’t have a period until end of August and it was long & heavy and then didn’t have anything until the end of November and again it was long and heavy. I had another long & heavy period in March and since then i’ve had 2 cycles that were 44 days and my periods are so much better. I don’t want to scare/worry you because everyone is different but that was my experience!

I’m also overweight but I’ve been doing Slimming World since March and that’s when my cycles have gotten better. Some may say at this point I should go to the docs (I’ve read a lot about PCOS) but I’m giving myself a bit longer to see if there is a pattern forming with my cycles! It’s been a long year but I’m getting there haha!

I hope you don’t have to wait as long as I have. If I had known I would have such issues I wouldn’t have started taking it. They never talk to you about this stuff when giving it to people.

@MrsERH thanks, you're right! Just checked the NHS and it says to wait at least 21 days since you DTD so I may try and hold out until Saturday...

Must add that loestrin is a 21 day pill with 7 day break inbetween!!

I came off cerazette end of june had withdrawal bleed a few days later, got my first period 23rd July and then got my BFP monday🤗

In my experience my body went back to normal loads quicker than when i was on loestrin pill as it took 4 months for BFP when i came off that x

I'm in a similar position so will be keeping tabs on this!

I was on the mini pill and I think I must have missed a few and had a breakthrough/ withdrawal bleed around 6th Aug... I took my last pill on the 8th, we DTD on the 10th and I've had no bleeding since.

I randomly threw up at work last week before lunch and have been feeling very bloated and tired. Also (sorry tmi) I've had a lot of thick white cm the last 4 days... I can feel it and keep thinking it's AF, but no!

Not sure if I could have conceived so quickly and when I should consider doing a test as I haven't had a real period/ have no idea where my cycle is at?! Or if this is just hormonal changes affecting me...

Mine was a back to back pill. I'm such an inpatient person 😂

@MrsERH I'm on desogetrel which is s mini pill so will I not get a withdrawal bleed? I was under the assumption we had one regardless of which pill it was? X
