Coming off the pill side effects

Hi all

I came of the pill (cerazette) 3 weeks ago today and still no sign of AF. I was just wondering how long it took for people to get back into some form of normality and what sort of side effects they experienced? For the last couple of weeks I've had massively sore boobs but that's about it.

We are going to be TTC from October and worried that because I've been on the pill for the last 12 years or so (at least 9 years on Cerazette with no period at all). I am overweight and was wondering if anyone else had experienced issues getting AF back and what you did?

That is odd. I'm now on to cycle #2 as AF arrived yesterday. Exactly 28 days after last, so I'm hoping that means my cycle is all back to normal.

MrsERH · 10/09/2019 11:59

Just another update really. This only lasted 2 days and was extremely light flow but very dark in colour. Weirdly I've had a similar flow this morning 4 days later. Odd

I guess I would describe it as normal. It certainly wasn't light. Last for 4/5 days.

MrsERH · 05/09/2019 13:07

@Wearenotyourkind Did yours feel like a normal period? This seems very light which makes me think it's more of a withdrawal one.

Exactly the same as me with cerazette @MrsERH I guess our next period will help us to start tracking and seeing what it's like (having been on the pill for so long) 🤞🏻

I cam off Noriday 3 weeks ago today, had a withdrawal bleed 2 days later and nothing since, opk tests all negative.
Then last night I got spotting and odd cramps on right hand side but nothing this morning.
I had been on Noriday for 4 years and had fairly regular bleeds every month (towards the end it was very predictable when I was due on, tracked periods with period tracker and it was right to within 1 day).
I feel all over the place at the moment now though

I've also had reduced appetite since coming off and headaches - taken more paracetamol since coming off than I had in the last 3 months

MrsERH · 05/09/2019 10:43

Just as an update - AF arrived yesterday. 5 weeks to the day I stopped taking cerazette.

Not entirely sure it is a proper AF or a withdrawal bleed but I can't remember what my AF was like before I started on the pill years ago!! We shall see Grin

@Hayley94 good luck... but I used to get a bfp OPK just before af. But I am a strange case lol. But good luck if you are ovulating soon 🤞 it is said that you are most fertile on your first cycles after stopping birth control.

@MrsERH I was on ovranette. My periods are still Irregular and all over the place. I hope yours comes quicker though x

Hayley94 · 30/08/2019 18:54

Not going to read into it to much been early days but will definitely do the deed x

wannabebump · 30/08/2019 16:44

@MrsERH I was on cerazette and it took me over 100 days to have any bleeding at all when I came off it to TTC. Hope it's quicker for you x

MrsERH · 30/08/2019 16:30

@Hayley94 Wow that would be super fast! Good luck and enjoy tonight Wink

I started with tummy cramps yesterday and feeling nausea so assumed a bleed was on the way but nope. Tested and got s positive. Child free tonight aswell so the deed is getting done 😂

PinkShake · 30/08/2019 15:54

@Hayley94 I took my last pill on the 9th and although I didn't test I felt like was ovulating around the 14th! I think it is possible and I guess your test proves it!! I have seen stories on here of people conceiving a few days after stopping the pill so it must be true x

Hayley94 · 30/08/2019 15:31

Off the pill on the 25th and this appeared today. Am I due to ovulate already??

@Carley321 Thanks - was it cerazette you came off?

I stopped taking the pill May 2018 I didn’t have a period until September. Then my cycles were between 30/40 days just the last 3 months Iv had a period under 35 days. Just be patient. It will come in sure. (I’m a special case)

Wearenotyourkind · 30/08/2019 11:18

@MrsERH it's not mine either!

MrsERH · 30/08/2019 11:16

@Mrsccc eeee that's great - now the fun can really begin haha!

@Wearenotyourkind Patience is not my strong point!

Wearenotyourkind · 29/08/2019 13:13

@MrsERH yep I totally felt the same! It will come, we just have to be more patient, which isn't easy!

Hayley94 · 29/08/2019 12:09

Yes I seen 1-3 months on NHS site. I can off 25th this month and feel like I've waited ages for bleeding 🙈🙉

MrsERH · 29/08/2019 11:50

@Mrsccc Do you mind sharing the link? I can only see advise to go to the GP after trying for 12 months?

OP posts:
Mrsccc · 29/08/2019 11:44

@MrsERH i went after 3 months as it says on the NHS website x

MrsERH · 29/08/2019 11:41

@Mrsccc and @AllTheGlitter how long did you wait until the doctor would give you a blood test to see if everything was ok?

@JaffaCakeGal Thanks for letting me know your timescale - wish I'd come off it earlier now as just assumed it would come back pretty quickly!

@Makingawish That's great news!

@Wearenotyourkind Hopefully I'll get mine shortly then! I just feel a bit in limbo at the moment Confused

Hi,
I am 27 and TTC #1
I came off pill 25th May after 7/8 years of being on microgynon and had a withdrawal bleed straight away and nothing since! It has been 92 days so far..

I went to the doctor and had a blood test but everything came back normal. He just said i might be an unlucky one and it will take longer than normal (great)

I've got to wait another 2 months and if I still get no AF then I am being referred to a gyno (fingers crossed it comes before)

x
