First cycle trying SMEP - Anyone else?

Each2TheirOwn · 18/08/2019 16:26

I'm currently on CD8 so am going to attempt the SMEP plan this month.

I've been referred to the fertility clinic but would love to conceive naturally before my appointment comes through so this seems like our best chance!

Is anyone else currently doing this or planning to? Would be good to have a SMEP buddy.

@Each2TheirOwn oh yay! That will be a first I seem to always be on my own in the TWW aha! Think there's a couple ladies on the Sept bus that are due to test same time as me too on the 9th Sept 👏🏼

@Positivity2019 Trying my best to manifest all my good thoughts towards a BFP 🤞🏻 💕

Positivity2019 · 20/08/2019 20:54

@flossy12 loving the positive vibes!! I’m using the ethos that keeping positive can only be a help in TTC. That’s easier said than done some days though.

Each2TheirOwn · 20/08/2019 18:34

@flossy12 oooh, we're due to OV roughly the same time! Will be good to have a TWW partner 🤞🏼 x

@Each2TheirOwn definitely feeling the positive vibes this month! 😁 we missed last night but will make sure we DTD tonight before work! Still only on every other day, due OV around 27th so will make sure we're strict this week and next

started my OPKs yesterday and obviously a negative but I'm determined to test everyday

Each2TheirOwn · 20/08/2019 08:19

@Positivity2019 Thank you! I'm definitely in the zone now 😊

@flossy12 @catsandkid Welcome! I'm currently on CD10, missed the first day of DTD but caught up last night, DTD again tonight and then every second day until Tuesday when the back-to-back DTDing begins.

I expect O on either Wednesday or Thursday next week so will try and pin it down as best I can with regular OPKs. Started OPKs CD6 (day after AF) but they've been all over the place so waiting for that nice dark line 🤞🏼

Is everyone feeling positive and confident this month? X

I'm also on the other SMEP thread for August but thought I'd drop in and say hi!

CD14 for me. Cycle #1 TTC baby #2. I'm also using clearblue fertility monitor to measure my high and peak fertile days (basically a simple to read OPK). My cycles vary from 27-39 days so the monitor helps me figure out what kind of cycle I'm in for!

We missed a few days/dtd on the wrong days early on. So we've dtd CD7, CD11, CD13 so far. Figure it shouldn't matter too much as that's still quite regular! Due to O sometime between Thursday-Sunday this week (will see what the monitor says later in the week!) so am coming up to our 'busy' time for dtd!

flossy12 · 20/08/2019 04:25

Ooh ooohh me 🙋🏼‍♀️😆 cycle 4 for me and OH and it's our first one trying SMEP as well! I'm on CD13 now so being DTD every other day since CD6 and started doing my OPK testing yesterday

Where's everyone else at today?

Positivity2019 · 19/08/2019 21:14

@Each2TheirOwn 😂 I wouldn’t necessarily recommend 14 days in a row that’s for sure. However we are trying to not be too restricting either. After all we are TTC but also enjoy each other’s company and get swept up in the moment as I’m sure we all do at times. SMEP seems like a good middle ground. Good luck starting the plan tonight.

Each2TheirOwn · 19/08/2019 20:56

@Lauralozzle @Positivity2019 just reading about your marathon sessions is making me tired 😂 you guys are dedicated!

In all my excitement to start SMEP yesterday I knackered myself out and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow 🙈 DEFINITELY starting tonight! I don't usual ovulate until around CD18 so don't think we've missed anything by starting a day late 🤞🏼

Great to see some BFP on here, congratulations. It’s great to have these positive outcomes as a reassurance and to hear others great news.

I’m definitely keen to give it a go next cycle. This last cycle we literally DTD for 14 days straight which was not ideal because when my fertile window opened up we were so tired but had to keep going or miss the chance. We just got pretty excited right after my AF since we didn’t really do it over then and then after a week or so I was like oh hang on, we now need to definitely do it because it’s my fertile window (sorry if that’s an overshare 😂). I think if it’s a no go this month with regards to BFP then it’ll be good to have a plan to go forward with.

Lauralozzle · 19/08/2019 17:45

@Each2TheirOwn @pottypotamus we ended up DTD 4 days on the trot which we haven’t done for years 😂😂😂

Still, peoples experiences seem very positive. I have my fingers crossed for this cycle

Makingawish · 19/08/2019 16:58

@Each2TheirOwn you're welcome! I didn't get on as well with the cheap ones but I know a lot of people breeze through with them so do what's best for you c

Chaosonthehorizon · 19/08/2019 16:23

What will your age gaps be?

Chaosonthehorizon · 19/08/2019 16:22

pottypotamus we are finding ttc 3 more challenging due to the existence of the others 😉. Gone are the days where you could manage twice a day etc!

Each2TheirOwn · 19/08/2019 16:17

@Makingawish Thank you very much 😊 I've been using the cheap One Step ovulation strips as I'm not convinced OPKs are accurate for me due to having PCOS but I might bite the bullet and buy the Clear Blue digital one and give it a go as I haven't tried that before 🤞🏼 Thanks again 💛 x

@Each2TheirOwn Thank you! 💜 My one piece of advice is to follow it to the letter. A lot of people do their own version and are disappointed when it doesn't work but I think there's a reason why they suggest using the CB digital ovulation tests because it's all about DTD at the perfect time! Good luck and feel free to message me if you need any further advice/support 😊

Each2TheirOwn · 19/08/2019 16:06

@Makingawish Thanks for sharing your experience and BFP picture (I love seeing them) 😊 Congratulations!

This SMEP method is sounding better and better all the time! I'll be sorely disappointed if it doesn't work for me first time 😂 As you can probably tell, I'm impatient now and probably putting far too much hope into this 🙈 x

I definitely advocate SMEP! We got out BFP on 10DPO after the first cycle using it. We also didn't find it exhausting but that might be different if you have longer cycles!

Each2TheirOwn · 18/08/2019 22:37

@Raizelrea thank you and best of luck for you too this month! I'll be testing around 11th/12th September and will definitely update you on how it goes. Fingers crossed we both get our BFPs this cycle 🤞🏼 let me know how you get on to x

OP posts:
Raizelrea · 18/08/2019 21:46

@Each2TheirOwn Yeah I reckon it's definitely a good way of maximising your chances regardless of when you ovulate. Keep us posted on how it goes for you!

Yes it's my first month of SMEP, and really the first month of trying in a more intentful way, the last two months we were sort of trying but not really during the fertile window so it would have been quite the miracle if it had happened.

2018isanewyear · 18/08/2019 20:08

We tried this after 12 cycles trying after a mc at 8 weeks.... I am now 32 weeks pregnant, maybe be chance but I would say worth a try!

pottypotamus · 18/08/2019 19:27

@Each2TheirOwn and @Positivity2019
Really hope SMEP works for you guys!
@Lauralozzle it sounds bloody exhausting! Not sure we have the energy Blush

Each2TheirOwn · 18/08/2019 19:04

@Lucyben14 CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's great news 😊 Love hearing stories like yours, keeps my positivity going 👍🏼

All the best for the next 9 months, hope they are kind to you x

OP posts:
Each2TheirOwn · 18/08/2019 19:01

@Raizelrea we are going to DTD every other day from today and then for 3 days straight over the projected ovulation period. My cycle has been 30, 32, 30 over the past 3 months so I'm hoping the app predictions are roughly accurate. Even if they aren't, every second day alone should ensure we have a good shot 🤞🏼

Credit to you for going above and beyond the necessary 🙌🏼😂

Is this your first month SMEPing?

OP posts:
Lucyben14 · 18/08/2019 18:57

I recommend! We used it and had success - this was our first month 'properly' trying rather than just seeing what happened and we got our BFP earlier in the week! Really hope it works for you!
