First cycle trying SMEP - Anyone else?

I'm currently on CD8 so am going to attempt the SMEP plan this month.

I've been referred to the fertility clinic but would love to conceive naturally before my appointment comes through so this seems like our best chance!

Is anyone else currently doing this or planning to? Would be good to have a SMEP buddy.

@BeingATwatItsABingThing Yup I had a tear in work on Monday too but feeling positive now.
@Coastaldreamer welcome and good luck with this cycle. This will be my first cycle too doing SMEP once this period passes.
@SMiles14 welcome and good luck. Sorry to hear about a miscarriage, that’s so hard.
Keep up the positive thoughts, we will see some BFP on here soon I can feel it! My lovely partner has booked for us to go away this weekend and this crappy period will be over so I can start getting excited for the next ovulation period which is just round the corner.

So sorry to hear about your loss SMiles14 Flowers

SMiles14 · 28/08/2019 15:29

@BeingATwatItsABingThing @Each2TheirOwn Hello :D Thanks for the recommendations, maybe I will just try to stick with my ICs for this month. I guess you're right, so long as you are checking regularly it doesn't really matter what you use. What time of day do you POAS? Mine say not to use FMU so I'm limited to the evenings really. Last month I kept forgetting to hold it and went to pee before leaving work!!

And Yes, we are trying for our first, sadly following a MMC which was found at the 12 week scan at the beginning of July. Hoping it won't take long to fall again, really don't want to waste too much time! We were only on cycle 3 when I got my BFP that time.

Coastaldreamer · 28/08/2019 14:54

Hey 👋🏽 jumping into this thread if that's ok!

First month that we have tried SMEP... just finished the three days in a row and today is "break day"

@Each2TheirOwn I had a LOL moment reading your comment about you DH and birthdays and Xmas... it felt fun at the beginning here and now I'm actually glad it's break day, purely cause it's been so hot over the last few days and three days of dtd straight has worn us out!! Lol poor DH feeling like a piece of meat at the min 🙈

@Positivity2019 sorry you're feeling crappy, I know how it feels - everywhere I look I see pregnant women and sometimes it can drive you potty!

This is cycle 7 for us so hoping my luck is going to change now that we are trying SMEP but it's better for me to not have any expectations

Each2TheirOwn · 28/08/2019 14:15

Hi @SMiles14

I use ICs as I can't go for a pee without dipping a stick in it 🙈 was using One Step but just bought OvaView (60 for about £10 from Amazon). I think as long as you are testing regularly (at least twice a day from beginning of your fertile week) then they are reliable.

Are you TTC your first? X

Hi!

I am using Asda ovulation tests which aren’t cheap but aren’t as expensive as other brands. I’m also using an AVA bracelet which was mega bucks and I’m not convinced so far but we’ll see.

SMiles14 · 28/08/2019 10:54

Hi ladies can I join? This will be first month on SMEP, on CD13 today and usually O around CD20/21. Started bding EOD on CD11, DH's lucky day again today!!
I have been using the cheapy internet strips but considering a CB monitor... which is the best one - fertility monitor or Ovulation test strips???? There seem to be so many options and they are pricey so I don't want to get it wrong!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/08/2019 20:06

I know how you feel about your colleague. There is someone at my work due in December. When I found out, I had to leave the room. I had to go and sob in another room. I’m a teacher and my children started commenting that I didn’t look very happy even though I was trying to keep it all from them.

Positivity2019 · 27/08/2019 19:13

@Each2TheirOwn @BeingATwatItsABingThing Thanks for the reply, I was in a bit of a mess yesterday, so upset. It doesn’t help that I work with a girl who is very visibly pregnant and everybody gushes over her and although I am over the moon for her and she deserves the attention it is a smack in the face sometimes.
This is an absolute mother of a period too, so painful. But my lovely partner has booked for us to go away this weekend and where I would be been just starting a period, now it will be finished which is a massive bonus.
Keep up the positivity @Each2TheirOwn fingers crossed this is everyone’s month!!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/08/2019 14:58

Yeah. I was just super tired I think

Each2TheirOwn · 27/08/2019 14:27

Never mind, I'm sure you've done enough! Hope you're feeling better today x

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/08/2019 14:18

No we didn’t. I wasn’t feeling very well.

Each2TheirOwn · 27/08/2019 14:00

Currently CD17 which is the same day I got my peak last month, think I O'd CD19 👍🏼

Did you manage 'one for the road' last night? The TWW is the worst but also really exciting! I'm feeling so positive about this month x

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/08/2019 13:56

Perfect OPK+! What CD are you on?

Each2TheirOwn · 27/08/2019 13:48

I got my 'peak' this morning along with some lovely fertile EWCM so it's game on 😁 DH has been informed that the next 3 days will feel like all his birthdays and Christmas' have come at once 😂

Aww @Positivity2019 that's shit 😩 it's no consolation but at least, like you say, you can focus on next month! You have the right attitude so I'm sure it won't be long until you get your BFP 🤞🏼x

Oh no! I had that last month. AF was early and I saw it as a positive. At least she was putting me out of my misery.

Positivity2019 · 26/08/2019 20:42

So absolutely out of the blue and three days early but AF is here and I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve had a cry today and I’m heading for an early night today. However, new cycle, new chance for us.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 26/08/2019 18:50

We’ll have to do our good luck shag tonight. Grin

Each2TheirOwn · 26/08/2019 18:04

Don't panic! From what I understand, the last one is for 'good luck' (not sure how true that is).

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 26/08/2019 17:19

We missed DTD last night. It would have been the final time for this month according to SMEP. Confused

Each2TheirOwn · 25/08/2019 22:11

@Positivity2019 I have everything crossed for you 🤞🏼 those symptoms sound promising (it's so hard not to attribute ever little thing to potential pregnancy in the TWW isn't it?!)

I'm not even due to O until Wed/Thu so I'll be living off of everyone's success stories (hopefully) for the next few weeks x

Positivity2019 · 25/08/2019 21:25

Hi guys, loving the chat about your poor tired partners. Mine was definitely pooped at the end of our cycle but we only missed two days and then he was back at it. Only four days to go until AF arrives so test day is Friday. Feeling nervous and excited to see what happens. So far little symptoms except really tender boobs, more so than usual, feeling absolutely starving (dunno if that’s linked at all) and the fact that I would normally be having little twinges of cramps for AF coming and so far nothing. So the wait continues really and I’ve no clue what to expect at all.
Positive vibes to all!!

flossy12 · 25/08/2019 09:25

It looks the same as yesterday so we're just going to DTD for the next 3 days and I'll keep testing to check the surge lowers

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 25/08/2019 09:01

If I also get out of the habit of EOD, it will be harder to get back into that next month.
