I think I have had an immaculate conception...

Just got a BFP. I took the test during my lunch break, it was more out of boredom than a real belief that I could be preggers.

Am totally stunned.

I have only had 1 AF since giving birth a year ago. That AF was eight weeks ago. I was not surprised when another did not follow 4 weeks later as I thought it would take a while for normal service to resume.

The thing is I have not had sex since the AF. Seriously. Therefore one of the following most be true:

  1. I was pregnant before last AF and it was not a real AF. But it was very, very heavy so this seems an unlikely option. It would also make me quite far along (10 weeks?) which is too scarey for words.

  2. This is an immacualte conception.

I am not at all sure what to beleive. Am sitting at my desk staring at the test. Have not called DP yet. Maybe I should call the Vatican instead.

Have told DP. He was shocked but reacted brilliantly. If I am preggers he is delighted as he has been raring to have another (I have held back as am still in pain from first birth).

He thinks the possiblity of a second coming is hilarious. He also confirms that I have not given him even the slimmest chance of impregnating me since my last AF. Sadly he cannot make it to the scan as he is hours away. He wanted me to delay to tomorrow but he knows I don't do suspense so has consented to me going alone.

I am expecting a scan image like this www.attivissimo.net/antibufala/madonne/jesus_on_fishstick.jpg

This thread has really cheered me up!

bundle · 31/07/2007 15:34

my rabbits had immaculate conception - 2nd litter of baby bunnies without visiting t'other's cage. they "save" embryos apparently

LittleSquirt · 31/07/2007 15:33

eleusis · 31/07/2007 15:26

Go get the scan so you can tell him peacefully and happily what the story is rather than in a freaked out panic cause you can't remember having sex.

puppydavies · 31/07/2007 15:19

ooh will be on edge of seat at 6pm

greedygreedyguzzler · 31/07/2007 15:13

peanutbear · 31/07/2007 15:10

|This is the most interesting conception/pregnany thread I hve read in years

Good Luck I hope it works out well

If its younger than 8 weeks you had better call Max Clifford

There will be another coming!!!!

TootyFrooty · 31/07/2007 15:08

This is really exciting. Keep us posted.

3Ddonut · 31/07/2007 15:07

If you don't tell him he'll be upset and will possibly make him more suspicious that you've had an affair if you disclude (is that a word?) him. Keep him informed.

fawkeoff · 31/07/2007 15:07

oh my god!!!!!!!, i think u should tell dp that ur preggers and ur going for the scan as u don have a clue about anything at the mo.........u'll have to post and tell us what happens

InShockAndAwe · 31/07/2007 15:04

Have an appointment at the private place at 5.30pm. I have to know what is happening. I know if something is wrong I will be sent to NHS but I can't live with the suspense until tomorrow.

Do I explain the situation to the sonographer or just keep schtum?

Still can't decide whether to tell DP. It seems wrong to not have the dad at the scan(presuming its not the son of God - if it is then his omnipresence should come in handy).

this thread is great!!! keep us posted!!!

legalalien · 31/07/2007 14:39

I had a normal period when I was one month pregnant. Very shocked when I went for a CVS (long complicated genetic issue) and was told that I was four weeks more pregnant than I thought. So it's possible.

squashmonster · 31/07/2007 14:32

do it if you can afford to if not go to early pregnancy unit! but let us know

InShockAndAwe · 31/07/2007 14:30

Ok. Trying to be calm for a moment. I have two questions:

  1. AF was 8 weeks ago. If that was a miscarriage would I really still be getting a strong positive today? The reason I tested was I feel rather pregnant. Do symptoms make a miscarriage unlikely?

  2. If I do go for the private scan should I tell DH beforehand? He is working away today so would not be able to come and would have to be told on the phone.

  3. If I do have a scan and it shows a pregnancy that is younger than 8 weeks which newspaper should I call to get the best price for my story ??

wannaBe · 31/07/2007 14:26

ok, 1, you've had a miscarriage and still showing positive, or 2, are further along. imaculate conception does not exist.

ggglimpopo · 31/07/2007 14:26

A and E or an EPU - don't go private as if there are probs (miscarriage) you will just be referred back to NHS pronto.

If there was so little chance of you being pg - why did you do a test? Do youfeel pg?

Ring NHS direct perhaps, and ask for advice?

justaphase · 31/07/2007 14:26

go private

and let us know what happens
