Positive test several days after taking?? FRER

I'm hoping someone can clear this up for me; I know that you're not supposed to look at tests past the set recommended time and I normally don't. However, I was going to clean out some of the old ones and I found this one (bottom in the pic) which I had taken on the day of my expected period this month. I'm 6 days late and still no sign of AF, which is why I found the bottom test strange.

When I first took it I thought that there was a second line but couldn't tell so I chucked it in a drawer. I've been using the cheapie ones that show hints of the second line as well. The top test is one from several months ago and as you can see, there is no distinct line (maybe a hint of an evap if that.)

What is the difference? Why is the bottom one showing the second line 6 days after taking and the top one, not at all? Is that a positive sign? I have more frer coming in today as I've never been this late in my life, but I just thought I'd ask out of curiosity!

@NikolaPiccola I guess IRL if people are seeing lines that's all that matters - honestly I can't see lines, except in your last photo & then because you've edited the photos, it's hard to know what I'm seeing!

I took my last one step strip test this evening and it's possibly the clearest line I've ever gotten on them! My sister saw it too and that's saying something cause these are absolutely terrible to read lol.

@glittertissues that's ok. They are super faint! But it was so much clearer in person! I didn't have to squint or anything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

@Polly7805 that's what I'm confused about too. I haven't had any of the typical miscarriage symptoms, I haven't even soaked through a pad! I'm not in any pain and the bleeding only lasted 2 days! Apparently, I could have implanted later, the nurse said that it's a possibility as she also had this sort of bleeding when she was a week late. It can also be that my hormones haven't been building up quickly enough. I was told that sometimes they start off really slow and then you get a random surge. I'm still wary but I'll remain hopeful until I'm told otherwise.

And I mean heck, I know someone who didn't get a positive pregnancy test until she was 5 months pregnant! There's always some hope lol

@anitagreen tbh I'm not really sure. We weren't tracking. Just seeing how things go. My doctor told me that a line doesn't necessarily indicate concentrate so I'm trying not to worry. I will be having tests done anyway so fingers crossed. Today's was darker though. I will see how Thursday's will be.

@kmammamalto that's ok. They are really faint on the pictures. I was honestly expecting this morning to be negative and when I turned the test over the line was very obvious to me. I didn't have to squint or anything. For some reason though with the frer tests mine have always dried lighter.
Anyway, I still haven't had my period and I'm not in any particular pain. My symptoms have gotten worse so I'm taking this as a positive sign. The nurse told me that the bleeding could have been late implantation blood so idk.We'll see.

I can see the line but confused as to why it's not darker. Go to the dr and get a blood test!

I'm so sorry to sound rude but i can't see lines on any of these pictures! I think I must need my eyes tested!
Hope you're feeling okay and not too down about it all. Hopefully when your next batch of FRERs come you might have an answer. Although your period being delayed is still something you'll need to investigate if you're not pregnant this month!

How many dpo are you it should be so much darker now it's strange it isn't showing as such x

Thanks both! I'm still worried but I'm remaining hopeful. Times going by really slow though for the doctor's appointment! I don't think I'll be comfortable until I have an early scan to see if everything is ok. Still preparing myself for the worst.

Little update! I think I may have had late implantation bleeding as it has completely stopped now (only very light traces of brown every other time that I wipe) and I have gotten a much darker positive on the first response test compared to Saturday one! My camera is a bit poo so it's not picking it up that well but I promise you it's darker. I don't have to squint to see it in person.

@anitagreen not a frer as I needed to order more (coming in tomorrow) but I did take a cheapie test one and the line was darker than the line I got yesterday. x

Small update; bleeding is almost nonexistent. I just have very pale pink blood when I wipe. There is still some blood around my cervix, but not much is actively coming out onto my pad :)

I also rang the UK help service on 111 and the out of hours GP had told me that it's normal to have to bleed this early on as long as I have no severe stomach pain or bleeding that is heavier than my normal period.

Thank you! I'm 13DPO today. I had a missed miscarriage back in March at 10+5 so I'm now no longer zen about TTC or anything to do with it! My cramps are more like bad back ache which is now common for me pre-AF. I'm just praying that Roy is right with his science and the positive I had means something's cooking in the there!
Sounds positive for you too if it's not lots of blood x

@ikphillips yes, when I had my chemical pregnancy I had a sharp pain the day before it happened and really bad cramps when my period came the next day. It was like a normal period as well, with lots of bright red blood and clots that fell out whenever I sat on the toilet.

So far I've only had small trickles of watered-down blood when I peed. Tbh though, on paper there looks to be more discharge than blood. I really really hope this is a good sign.

And fingers crossed for you! What are your cramps like? I did have some mild twinges a week ago before I knew and apparently, they're normal. Nothing is sure until Af makes an appearance :) How many DPO are you?

Keep the faith @NikolaPiccola! If it's slowing down, definitely a good sign. Lots and lots of people spot/bleed in early pregnancy - it's so common. Fingers crossed for you. I'm feeling simultaneously sick and super crampy today - so gutted - got that creeping dread that AF is on the way :(

Ok ok! So there is hope yet! The bleeding has considerably slowed down. It still is orangey in colour when I wipe but I don't have any more coming out when I pee. None seems to be coming out onto my pad either, there are only a few drops. I took a cheapie test and straight away a second line appeared which means that my hormones haven't yet dropped. I dont have any cramps apart from lower back pain but I have an old back injury and I've had this symptom from the beginning of the pregnancy. I shall keep you guys updated! Fingers crossed Flowers

I'm just thinking that if the cheapies pick it up then surely it must be there right? My morning pee was rather diluted so maybe that's why the frer didn't show anything but a small line.

So sorry to hear it's got more faint. It's hard isn't it, there isn't really a lot that can be done except to wait and see. I would maybe leave it 48hrs and see how things progress... i would def see the GP if it does turn out to be a chemical as they may be able to assist with future attempts or perhaps refer you. sending hugs x
