Positive test but I’m bleeding

Norrisskipjack · 27/06/2019 20:15

I started bleeding a week after my period finished today which was weird so I took a test and for the first time in my life, it was positive. Obviously I then immediately took about 40 more tests Blush

I’ve attached my Flo app screen which is accurate and I know I ov’ed on the 5th because I tested.

WTF is going on and why am I bleeding? Am I early miscarrying? Sad

Bleeding is when I wipe and there was a little bit of cramping earlier. My period on the 17th- 20th was completely normal.

Do I need to call 111?

I'm so sorry, please look after yourself x

NavyBerry · 01/07/2019 15:05

Oh so sorry! Fingers crossed it's not ectopic. Please take care of yourself!

Michellebops · 01/07/2019 15:02

Sorry you're going through this. The hcg level is quite low, if the repeat the test in 2 days they'll be looking to see if it drops as per the miscarriage or increase if the pregnancy is viable.

Norrisskipjack · 01/07/2019 14:40

They’ve just called, HCG is 105, I don’t know what that means.

I am so sorry OP

Norrisskipjack · 01/07/2019 12:43

I’ve taken the week off work and I’m going to do a lot of things I love doing. I’m going to read books and paint and take my dogs for long walks. It feels like I need that time.

You are not an imposter!! Even if you knew you were pregnant for an hour, that’s a lifetime in your mind becuase you start visualising and imagining! Do not feel that you can’t be sad - you have suffered a loss, however that loss has manifested itself. I’ve had 2 MC’s and they are shit but I PROMISE things do get better in time and you will get through this. But the next couple of weeks will be hard emotionally, so be gentle with yourself xx

Norrisskipjack · 01/07/2019 10:28

They’ve taken blood, got to go back on wednesday for another blood test and after that they’ll decide what to do.

It’s ridiculous, I didn’t know I was pregnant until I bled but I feel such a sense of loss. I’m in bits and feel like an imposter on other women’s grief because it was so early for me.

Oh I am so so sorry. I know how you are feeling and there are literally no words that will take the pain away. It’s the shittiest of places to be. What are they going to do next? Xxx

Contraceptionismyfriend · 01/07/2019 10:08

I'm so so sorry OP. Do you have someone who can support you? Did they go through the next steps with you?

Norrisskipjack · 01/07/2019 10:06

No signs of a viable pregnancy in my womb.

There’s ‘something’ in one of my tubes, looks like it could be a cyst but could be ectopic.

You poor pet: it’s such a strange experience but it will be over soon. They never say much at them because they can’t so until they’ve scanned you they don’t know anything so don’t read into them not telling you anything at this stage! I made the mistake of going to a breast cancer referral (all was fine!!) by myself last year - like you, I felt I’d handle it better by myself but then as soon as got there, wished DH was with me! I know it’s no replacement for IRL handhold, but we are here for you xxx

Contraceptionismyfriend · 01/07/2019 09:36

I've been there OP. And it's horrible, I hated having no control and just waiting for them to tell me what was happening with my own body.

Norrisskipjack · 01/07/2019 09:31

Just in the waiting room. I’ve been seen by a midwife, she was lovely and they’re going to scan me in a minute then I’ll talk through results with the midwife again.

No one is saying much and I’m frightened. I’m usually fairly strong headed and don’t get scared but I’m sitting here surrounded by other women with their partners trying desperately not to cry Confused I feel so unlike myself.

So sorry to hear this OP. Hope you get good news.

LittleRedSocks · 01/07/2019 09:27

Yeah HCG can be quicker at hospitals (I got some taken in a&e once and it was about 3 hours) but GP is usually a couple days. Thinking of you and hope you are currently being given very good news xx

DieCryHate · 01/07/2019 08:56

Good luck for this morning @Norrisskipjack. At my EPU I got the blood results later that day (about 4-5 hours later) by phone, may be different where you are though.

Norrisskipjack · 01/07/2019 08:33

No I’m on my own. When things are hard I find it a lot easier to handle it if I’ve got some time alone to get my head straight before I talk to people. DH is on standby on the phone though if I need him.

Slightly regretting coming on my own but can’t change that now.

Do you get the HCG results straight away or do you have to call them at a later date?

OP posts:
LittleRedSocks · 01/07/2019 08:30

Ooh @Joopy mine didn’t take bloods, but I was able to get bloods taken twice a week till about 9 weeks for reassurance becuase of previous miscarriage and being seen by EPU.

LittleRedSocks · 01/07/2019 08:29

You poor thing, not long to wait now! They’ll take a few quick details from you and the. because you are early on, this will likely be a TV (transvaginal) scan, which means they will scan you internally - so an ultrasound wand will be inserted into the vagina. It doesn’t hurt (just a bit cold from the gel!) and doesn’t harm the pregnancy. It may be too early for heartbeat (average is 7 weeks but you never know!), but they will check for a sac and fetal pole. Good luck and handhold - do you have anyone with you? Xxx

Joopy · 01/07/2019 08:26

Good luck, you'll probably have an internal scan, which isn't as bad as it sounds, then they'll take your bloods to see if your HCG levels are rising.

Norrisskipjack · 01/07/2019 08:23

Thanks everyone. I’ve been fairly steady emotionally over the weekend but I’m an absolute wreck today! Just had a good cry in the car which has weirdly helped Confused

Anyone know what will happen at this appointment?

I bled so badly with DS2 at 11 weeks that I was absolutely convinced I was miscarrying. It turns out I wasn't and the doctors couldn't really explain where the bleeding had come from. Really hope it works out for you OP xxx

LeanneMFord · 01/07/2019 07:09

Good luck @Norrisskipjack hope everything goes ok for you! X

Norrisskipjack · 01/07/2019 06:51

I’ve got my appointment at the early pregnancy unit at 9, I’ve just tested and it’s still positive although I’m driving myself mad thinking the line is appearing slower/ is fainter.

Trying to remind myself that a positive is a positive but it’s so difficult Sad
