7th month TTC

Hello,

I’m in my 7th cycle of ttc No1 and feeling slightly impatient, I’m 27 and I get a positive OPK every month, get ovulation pains and have a very regular 28 day cycle.
I do feel positive that it will happen and I don’t feel too upset, I guess I’m just feeling slightly impatient and possibly a wee bit worried.
Has anyone got positive stories of conceiving after 6 months of trying? Is this normal?

Thank you!

Hello! I am in a similar boat so totally know how you feel.. TTC since getting my implant out in May and getting very impatient 😞 I had high hopes for this month as had a couple of new symptoms but back to CD1 today! I am 31 and although I know I am still young, I now wish I had started TTC earlier as we were ready, we were just waiting for one final holiday we had booked (which never happened anyway! 🤦🏻‍♀️)
I feel like I am only living for TTC at the moment, it's absorbing all of my head space so determined to change, and I am going to distract myself with decorating my flat and tell myself it would have been more difficult to do that while pregnant. I like the idea of not testing early so as not yet get hopes up, I am going to try that this month and see if it helps.
Good luck ladies!

I'm not sure if my last reply sent so I'll try again haha..

I'm with you 100%, not even a hint of a BFP. I think you spend so much of your time trying not to get pregnant that its really surprising that its not that easy to just fall pregnant! But I do think as time goes on I'm finding it harder to stay positive and feel like an awful friend as terrible as it sounds im scared for another friend to tell me they are expecting.. im scared ill cry as much as I mnow im happy for them!

I just wanted to see if anyone else has had implantation bleeding? My cycles are normally every 28 days and a spot the day before for as long as I can remember.. however the past 3 months ive had spotting up to 4 days before .. google has me belive its implantation and then AF arrives to ruin the party, and this month 2 days early. Im starting to worry there's actually something wrong.

Hi ladies, in the same boat - been trying since July 20 and not even a hint of a BFP - I have regular 30 day cycles and ovulate every month (apart from one month as I took too much EPO, will not be doing that again!). I try and be positive with every new month but it is very upsetting when AF does arrive, I've also stopped testing really early I test the day before AF is due to manage my expectations but still doesn't make it any easier - as much as I say I will stay away from these forums I always find myself back here in every 2WW!
I've just turnt 32 this month, part of me does wish I started trying earlier xx

Not sure if this thread is still active... but i am in your situation just now... 27, cycle no 7 started this week and starting to get pretty down about it! I think I tend to get my hopes up and look for any wee sign. Hopeful for the future still and hoping it happens for us soon 🤞

Totally know how you feel! I’ve been off the contraceptive pill for 7 months and have been TTC (trying to conceive) in that time (6 months properly trying using opks). I’m 34.

Getting impatient I had some blood tests done at my GP surgery because I was worried that my periods were short (only last two days of proper flow!) even though my cycles are fairly regular between 27 and 30 days and I do get a ‘peak’ on the opks every month. I was also worried about a short luteal phase - mine is 12/13 days (up from 11 a few months ago) but I spot from day 10 or 11.

My GP had no idea about the short luteal phase thing but said I could test for progesterone 7 days after ovulation rather than on day 21 so that’s what I did (which was day 25).

My gp said my day 3 and day 21 blood test results were ‘normal’ although my testosterone was just outside of the upper end of normal (it was 1.7 and should only be 1.6). She said that wouldn’t be PCOS because my fsh/LH would be inversed from what they actually were.

However I’ve looked online and am not sure my results are normal at all. My fsh was 10 which seems very high. LH seems low at 3.5

My day 21 progesterone was 42

Anyone else had similar results or any advice??

We’re going on to be on cycle 9 in a few days so you’re not alone. It seems to be everyone falls pregnant quickly but I think people just don’t talk about it taking longer than expected which doesn’t help

MrFlibblesEyes · 24/06/2019 17:49

Took me around 20 cycles (actually lost count which I never thought I'd do!) Happily I'm 23+5 today! Just takes some of us longer - although hopefully for you not quite as long as me!

LookDontTeuch · 24/06/2019 14:25

I think one of the problems is that people don't really talk openly about ttc - few people announce they are 'trying' and most folk actively cover it up so that friends/family don't suspect, partly throwback to the whole thing about not announcing until you are 12wks pregnant.

I think if people were perfectly honest, you'd find they were trying longer than they let on and I wish everyone could speak more openly about it as you'd be amazed how much support you'd get in rl.
My first pregnancy ended in mmc and it still took 5mths after that to conceive, despite apparently being extra-fertile after first pregnancy. 2nd child took around 7-8mths.
Orgasms are important as well as trying to remember what it feels like to actually be in the mood Grin your body is actually remarkably good at flagging up when you are fertile - I'm convinced both successful conceptions happened when I was particularly horny!

No tips I’m afraid...
But in the same boat.
I’m 26 and TTC since January and not a whisper as yet.
Best of luck to all ❤️

Lolipoplady · 24/06/2019 12:54

@blueym I didn't get a positive OPK and also my cm stayed watery for days on end which it wouldn't normally. As it happens I did a test this morning and it's very almost positive so looks like I will finally ovulate in the next couple of days!

Fingers crossed that we will all get a BFP soon! It's so frustrating isn't it.

daisiesblue · 23/06/2019 22:43

I am also 27, TTC number one for seven months and have a regular 28 day cycle! So I had to comment and let you know girrrlll I feel your frustration!
I don't usually get upset but I woke up to my last period and cried my eyes out so apparently I'm a little more upset than I thought.
All my friends seem to get pregnant shaking hands with their partners!
I hope it happens for us soon! ❤️

LittleKitty1985 · 23/06/2019 20:34

No, but tbf it could just have been luck. I think 6 months of ttc is the average for people in their 30s

blueym · 23/06/2019 17:59

Me too, Lolipoplady! You only hear from ladies who fell pregnant super quick. How do you know you didn’t ovulate?

Thanks for the tip @LittleKitty1985, I don’t eat much white carbs but my hubby does so that could be worth a shot. Did you do anything else different when you conceived?

OP posts:
LittleKitty1985 · 23/06/2019 14:05

It took us 6 months and for the last couple of those we both gave up sugar and white carbs, so perhaps you could try that? There is some decent evidence out there to support a low sugar diet boosting fertility in both men and women.

Lolipoplady · 23/06/2019 13:51

Hi blue,

I don't have a positive story myself (yet!) But I just wanted to say that I am in the same position as you, cycle 7 and seem to be ovulating regularly each month - based on opks, cm and ovulation pains - but with no luck yet.

Unfortunately this month I haven't actually ovulated, which is strange, so I'm not sure what's going on but other than that everything appears to be very normal.

I am trying to remind myself that it's normal to take up to a year, but it's hard isn't it!
