Waiting 2 months TTC and struggling !

Dear All,

This is my first post, been thinking about TTC since January. DH and I agreed to start in August but as it turns out we have a family weeding next year and if we were lucky in August I’d be far too prego to go ans wouldn’t want to miss said wedding. Sorry for the waffle anyway this means waiting till September ... which is only 2 months ago but feels like forever.

I’ve got lots of social events to keen me busy, could do with losing half a stone, have started folic acid/ vit D and am due my smear test the first week of September. So really the waits makes sense.

But I’m almost 34 and getting increasingly worried about possible problems and how long it will take. Aside from the fact that I feel super broody and just want to try yesterday 😆.

Any other crazy ladies out there to join the wait ?

@noodlesoup99 freeedommmmm!! Grin Hopefully your cycles stay the same, I found my first was completely out of whack but now they are more regular than when it was in!

I haven't thought about getting baby equipment, although agree moses baskets seem a bit pointless as they get to the length of them in like 2 months! I think the only thing I know I want to do is use re-usable nappies as much as possible... although it might be easier said than done!
I am a bit worried it will take ages to conceive - no reason to think it but I am a bit mindful of it and am a bit scared of getting too excited. Probably really silly of me Blush

AndddddHerewegoagain · 11/07/2019 18:55

@Jasmin11 it won't let me tag you for some reason!!

We had one of the undermat sensors. Our son started rolling in his sleep around 7 months so it was constantly going off as it couldn't sense him breathing 🤦‍♀️ after it went off 3 times in 1 night i removed it. It's definitely one of those things 1 person will swear by and others don't rate it.

I do love a video monitor, though i would just spend hours watching him sleep and not getting anything else done Grin

Jasmin11 · 11/07/2019 18:26

Also another thing for the list - Im not sure what they're called exactly but my nephews had them as babies, it's a plastic mat with sensors that goes under the baby's mattress and an alarm goes off if it doesn't sense their breathing - I thought it was a really cool gadget for peace of mind and I always said I'd definitely get one for my children 😊

Jasmin11 · 11/07/2019 18:23

@MrsMeow2019 yess luckily I had Tuesday off and this weekend I'll have off too so I can't complain :) I do the same - so glad I've got nieces and nephews to use as an excuse to look at baby things Wink
@AndddddHerewegoagain we really like the mamas and papas urbo, oyster 3 or the Joie chrome :) I'm trying so hard not to look at baby clothes at the minute as it's making me sooo impatient! Haha! I'll have to make a note of Fred and Noah though! :)

AndddddHerewegoagain · 11/07/2019 15:25

@MrsMeow2019 definitely go for the bedside cot. Most babies grow out of moses baskets by 6 weeks. My son was on the 90th percentile for length and was in his snuzpod until 7 months! Its so worth the extra money

I have an icandy which i was given. Though these days i have a phil and teds which hardly gets used!

Car mirror that you put on the headrest I would also class as an essential. Means you can keep an eye on them when driving

*reusable breastpads if planning on breast feeding (reusable ones are normally cotton and more comfortable in my opinion!)

*muslin cloths

  • cheeky wipes are brilliant

*a sling

  • baby bouncer or chair- saved our sanity Grin

My waste of money things

*bottle warmer. Quicker to boil the kettle and use a jug to heat the bottle

  • wipe warmers. No-one ever uses them. Ever

Also prebaby buy/ rent a tens machine. You will thank me Wink

MrsMeow2019 · 11/07/2019 13:46

@AndddddHerewegoagain love the idea of a list ! I fear I will definitely overspend and then regret it lol. I love all the cute outfits but I'm sure you're right they'll never get worn lol

I'll attempt a start a list

Essentials

Pram
Moses Basket
Nappies
Wipes
Car seat
Vests / babygrows
Baby monitor

Would like

Bedside cot
Fancy Muslins

@Jasmin11 got to love some window shopping! Which pushchair are you looking at?

I spent so much money on clothes and got given so many clothes im pretty sure he only wore each outfit once before he outgrew it Blush

Oh but if you do want an expensive addiction check out fred and noah. Their clothes are the cutest!

Maybe we should start an essentials list and a wish list? I did this and it really helped me budget x

MrsMeow2019 · 09/07/2019 19:52

@noodlesoup99 Yay!!! It must all feel so real for you! Keep us all update :-), Could be a positive soon!!

@Jasmin11 I hope you’ve got some time off in the week! I’m always on JoJo Maman looking for things ‘for my nephew / friends’ Wink

Hi everyone - your weekends sound lovely, I was working all weekend unfortunately - already excited for that maternity leave haha! Yesss @noodlesoup99 that's great! I stopped taking the pill a few months ago in preparation and it was such a nice feeling taking the first step towards ttc :) I've been extra broody recently and it's driving me mad! OH is excited too but he doesn't do the crazy things I do like having a nosey on the Mothercare website for prams :') hope everyone's having a good week :)

noodlesoup99 · 09/07/2019 14:55

Girls! I did it.
Coil came out this morning! Eeeeek!

noodlesoup99 · 07/07/2019 22:00

Hi @MrsMeow2019 your weekend sounds lovely! I've had a quiet one, lots of nice walks and food Smile ooohhh move TTC to August!! A 37 week pregnant bridesmaid would look beautiful.
I'm wishing the next week away so I can get this bloomin' coil out x

MrsMeow2019 · 07/07/2019 17:46

Hi All , I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend :-). I can’t believe it’s the 2nd week of July already ! TTC journeys getting nearer !

We’ve spent the weekend visiting friends and holding their babies 💖. Had a serious chat about moving TTC up to August but Means potentially being a bridesmaid at 37 weeks if we got a BFP first time.

All the ifs and buts are so difficult arnt they! I’m really not used to have so little control over a situation 🤔

@Jasmin11 Welcome to the group! I'm so please there are lots of us ! Thought I was crazy lurking alone hehe.

@couscousevaporator O no! Hope you feel better for the weekend! A festival sounds like a fun weekend. I've been thinking that too - enjoying possibly the last baby free summer. Seems a shame to be wishing the time away!

@noodlesoup99 eppp! Not long at all now, very excited for you!

We've got a fairly quiet weekend just meeting up with family and friends for lunch and dinner, really not helping my diet at all! But hey ho! Hope you're all having a good week x

Hi!
Sorry I’ve been AWOL, been really poorly, awful flu like virus. I’ve just got my hearing back 😆

Welcome to the newbies! @Jasmin11 - I lurked for ages too!!

@MrsMeow2019 I have been off contraception since Feb, and we’ve been using natural family planning method since then. We just use condoms when I know I’m fertile. It’s good practice to cycle track but I also now know I ovulate later than apps predict and I’ve been looking for patterns so I hopefully won’t fall into the 2 week wait trap of symptom spotting (that’s the theory 😆)

I’ve got a festival this weekend as well, if I am up to it. I really want to go as it is hopefully the last summer kid free but also I might fall asleep in the corner!

What has everyone else got planned this weekend?

@noodlesoup99 that is exciting, last AF before it becomes real 😁 I have been counting too. 3 more periods left lol.

noodlesoup99 · 03/07/2019 19:46

Hi girls! AF arrived today (1 day early) and I actually felt really happy to see her. Like this is my last period before my coil comes out. It's all feeling very real that we're going to be TTC.
I'm so excited for the next couple of weeks to pass
How are you all doing?

Welcome to @Jasmin11

Jasmin11 · 03/07/2019 16:29

Hi everyone 😊 can I jump onto this chat too? My first post on Mumsnet but I've been lurking for a few months now 😂Thinking about ttc September/October time hopefully 😊

AndddddHerewegoagain · 02/07/2019 21:04

@noodlesoup99 it was unbelievable really. We had 3 weddings and i had to make excuses at all of them! Didn't ever imagine it would have happened that fast! My poor dh was having to eat double pate as starters to not make it obvious that i had left mine haha.

@MrsMeow2019 That's super organised. I went to 42 weeks so just remember it can be anytime from 36-42 weeks! I was so excited on my due date and it was the most anticlimatic day ever Grin

MrsMeow2019 · 02/07/2019 20:10

@noodlesoup99 That's exciting and not far away at all!!!

I use Clue and have been plotting my next few cycles working out possible EDDs - officially mad...

OP posts:
noodlesoup99 · 02/07/2019 07:41

@AndddddHerewegoagain coming off the pill and being pregnant within 5 weeks sounds like a dream! Although - when you've got bathroom floors to scrub at daft-o-clock, I bet not so much! X

noodlesoup99 · 02/07/2019 07:39

@MrsMeow2019 coil comes out on 16th.. 2 weeks today (Not that I'm counting Wink)
From my app and previous cycles where I feel twinges etc, I'd say I'm due to ovulate around the 19th... so we never know Grin
I suppose that's the beauty of the copper coil though, periods have been 7/8 days of heavy flow, but your fertility returns to normal from the day it's removed.
I mean, NOTHING ever goes how you'd ideally like it to, but maybe just this once, it could!
PMS is a total cow - I usually let myself have a day or 2 of guilt free snacking/hoovering everything in sight; get it out of my system, then back to good choices.
Today is going to be the same I think, although I'm a bit bloated from last nights feasting.
Very exciting that you've only got a packet and half left, it just starts to feel very real.
Hope you all have a lovely day - let's hope for some sunshine! X

MrsMeow2019 · 01/07/2019 22:55

@AndddddHerewegoagain don't worry I didn't interpret what you said as judge :-)

I did think about stopping early but there's no real evidence pills have a lasting effect on fertility there's only evidence for the depo injection.

I'd love to stop and get prego now Winkbut all our plans would be in a mess. And I'm sure using condoms wouldn't last long hehe.

5 weeks !!! That's amazing, hope AF turns up soon and the next one is a quick for you Smile

OP posts:
AndddddHerewegoagain · 01/07/2019 22:47

Sorry didn't mean to sound judgy was just curious!

Yes i did this exactly. Came off pill got pregnant 5 weeks later. It's a trap 😂

Definitely not gonna happen this time as still no af or any clue what my body is doing

MrsMeow2019 · 01/07/2019 22:30

@AndddddHerewegoagain

No I've decided to finish off what I've got which is until mid August-ish, I'm on norgeston an old POP. I'm sure if I stopped now we'd have an accident Blush

Has everyone else stopped their contraception for a while before TTC?

OP posts:
AndddddHerewegoagain · 01/07/2019 22:24

@noodlesoup99 im also like this. Could have eaten all day today if i didn't stop myself! Tried to keep busy at Work to stop myself snacking. So hard when all the food is free and available Grin

AndddddHerewegoagain · 01/07/2019 22:22

@MrsMeow2019 are you not coming off the pill until August?

I had a very toddler filled weekend. Was cleaning my bathroom floor at 9pm last night. #thuglife 😂😂😂
