TTC in August Looking for a BFP

Hi,
Thought I'd start a thread for those of us looking for a BFP in August. I'm ttc #2. Have a DS of 3.3. I'm current on CD15 - OD day - with a bit of luck. Have been bd'ing like mad over my fertile days and will continue to do so for a few more days yet. Then it will just be the 2ww. Anyone else in situation?

Thanks everyone, I'm much better than yesterday, how I got through yesterday I don't know. The worse part is picking up the mindees and taking them upstairs for naps - really hurt my sides Anyway, Dr given me tablets which are fine in pg JUST IN CASE (but I'm pretty sure I can rule that one out) and I've been to the shop for cranberry juice and bicarb of soda. Hopefully with that lot I'll be better in no time. Haven't read the label but if it says I can't drink even once feeling better, I'll be well annoyed if I do end up with my period this weekend!!!

Anyway, got to run, baby mindee is being picked up early so need to finish her diary and wash bottles etc.

LT x

Sorry libralady - it was moodymoo hiding the ov sticks. I must read properly!

Upsidedowncake - glad it is happening naturally and that you are feeling a bit better today.

Bellie · 16/08/2007 15:19

upsidedown - good news in terms of the drop in units. Does this mean that you will not need any intervention?

LoveAngel · 16/08/2007 15:11

Thanks Upsidedown - I am baffled, to be honest. I can only think that stress and obsessing about getting pregnant have held up my AF - I DO NOT feel pregnant in the slightest, infact, I have really bad PMT mood swings right now! I don't really understand all the abbreviations etc, but it sounds like your news is good news ...? Good luck xx

Upsidedowncake · 16/08/2007 14:35

Hello ladies

Poor looneytunes. I hate cystitis. But least once you get the antibiotics, you'll know that you'll be on the mend. Stress doesn't help!

I'm feeling much better today. I got the results from the hospital. The hormones have dropped by 50% to 195 units (pg tests pick up 25 units; a healthy pregnancy should have been at 50,000-60,000!), so we are on the way to a bfn ...

Round at a friend's house with ds1, following your advice about keeping busy, Bellie. Good luck with the operation.

Welcome Fairysnuff, Big Fat Positive (I had to be inducted too!) fingers crossed. (Get me, everyone, helping the newbies with the lingo!)

xxx

Love angel, good luck. Could still be good news?

LoveAngel · 16/08/2007 11:46

Hi all.

Looneytune, are you feeling any better? Cystitis is a killer. I used to suffer from chronic bouts of it, but it mysteriously disappeared after the birth of my first child 2 and a half years ago and I've never had it again! As a rule of thumb, if you suffer from it for more than 3 days, see your doctor as you may need anti-b's to clear it up. I sympathise...its very painful and makes you feel so unwell :-(

Well - I still haven't got my AF. Doctor can't fit me in until Monday so hopefully it will turn up before then (I say hopefully as I feel pre-menstrual, so I'd rather it just bloody well came sooner rather than later! My cycles have been so regular up until this month, so its all a bit baffling...maybe just stress, I dunno?)

Hope you're all well today x

libralady · 16/08/2007 11:41

Hi ladylush
No it wasn't me who hid the ov sticks in my car!
I only got my cheapy ones from eBay a few days ago but I'm not going to bother using them this month. I'll just resume after next af which is due around 31st August.

Sorry I had to do 3 messages instead of one longer one as my computer was doing it's restart thing (which is very irritating). I rang the recurrent m/c clinic today and they still hadn't received the referral form which epu had promised to fax. Anyway after much searching of faxes the clerk found it in the post - they had sent it in the external mail! Anyway, they have it now so I should be getting an appointment made very soon. Then I can exhale.

ladylush · 16/08/2007 10:59

LL I read something recently about xrays which suggest there is minimal risk of damage during pg - particularly in early pregnancy. Maybe if you google it you might find some info.

ladylush · 16/08/2007 10:58

Oh sorry LT - I get confused as there are lots of us L's here! And Libralady and I are both LL to make it even more confusing It was Libra who hid ov sticks in her car - is that right?

Sorry you are both in pain for different reasons and hope it's resolved soon. I had cystitis in pg and was able to take
abs which sorted it out no problem

libralady · 16/08/2007 10:11

Morning everyone.
Sorry about the pain you are going through LT. It does sound like cystitis though. Have had it myself and it is horrible. I remeber going to the loo several times a night feeling like I was bursting and then only managing a dribble each time. Hopefully the Dr will prescribe some antibiotics. However that being said, before my op in May, I went for all the usual pre-op checks and they discovered a UTI which I was unaware of. Had a course of antibiotics which did nothing so they postponed the op whilst I took a second course which eventually cleared it up so I was able to have the op. The reason they couldn't operate is that the infection could have spread to the implant I had put into my spine and they didn't want to take the risk. Just shows you never know what is going on in your body. I had no symptoms or anything. Just got really pissed off as I had geared myself up for the op only to be told 48 hours before it was due that they had postponed it. I got really angry with myself as I was at work and burst into tears. I was pissed off at getting so upset.
Thanks for all the well wishes from everyone.
I must admit it's not feeling quite so bad today, although nowhere as good as it was at the weekend.
Trying to stay positive though. Mind you the painkillers they have prescribed are knocking me out something chronic.
Hopefully we can get back to ttc soon.
Take care everyone.
LLxxx

Yes, very painful but better this morning than last night. I had 4 pints of water last night (dh tried to get cranberry juice but didn't have any). I've had 2 bad ones before, once I thought it was just backache and so took painkillers which made better but then I collapsed in town with my brother. Couldn't believe it was my water works causing the pain Then I had one where I had the Dr sent to my house because I could hardly move and hadn't been able to wee for ages and really did feel like my insides were going to explode!!! Anyway, silly me has been reading other things into these symptoms and missed it again!!! Anyway, I KNOW it's that, it's so obvious so will see what Dr says. I had strong AB's last time which helped really quick but JUST IN CASE I am pg, I don't want to take anything risky so will see what she says. And of course I'll go and get some cranberry juice. I've also been recommended water with bicarb of soda.

Right, must go and help ds with his mouse trap game whilst little baby has her long morning nap. I'm lucky her mum was ok about me taking her to the Dr's - felt bad but can't leave it really.

Have a good day everyone

Bellie · 16/08/2007 09:20

Oh LT - sounds really painful - it could be cystitis? I had it a couple of months ago and I was in agony - could only manage a couple of hours sleep. I had to get antibiotics, the first lot didn't work and had to go and get some more which were so strong they nearly knocked me out!
Get some cranberry juice too - everyone on here recommended it and it certainly helped - it neutralises the acid in the infection or something.
\Sounds like you need to make sure you take a sample with you too - it would be awful to get there and then not be able to go!

looneytune · 16/08/2007 09:14

Upsidedowncake - how are you today? I personally think it's ok to cry in front of children, I want mine to know it's ok to show their emotions (unlike dh due to his upbringing)

Loveangel - deffo get to the Dr's and let us know how you get on!

Moodymoo - that's just horrible having to give birth like that. I found it bad enough with an early MC with everything happening being so in my face (without giving tmi) but to have to do what you did, I don't know how I'd have coped. You are very brave!

fairysnuff - welcome what CD (cycle day) are you?

Ladylush - Oh, it wasn't me with the ov sticks, I haven't got any yet but think I will for next month. How do they work anyway? What day do you start using them? If my hormones are playing up due to just coming off the pill, I'm hoping that after this period (pretty sure it's coming) it will have settled. I actually don't feel as bad for my sister as I did. I've tried and tried and can't make her leave and it's not worth me stressing about it. I was in a state but decided to tell my family and that's made me feel so much better, I'm not alone with that info now.

Libralady - sorry you are suffering but pleased it was nothing too serious

Right, just wanted to say that I'm 99.99999% sure I have a urine infection. I was in soooo much pain last night and at one point couldn't go to the toilet even though I was bursting. So, this could explain symptoms like dull ache for past couple of weeks, going to toilet more, being tired, even possibly why felt queezy, bloating and then these really painful sides. I think the other symptoms like spots on boobs, stuff coming out of them etc. is most likely due to hormones and the fact I've just come off the pill. So, I'm off to the Dr's at 3.30pm to get confirmed but pretty sure that explains things.

Bellie · 16/08/2007 07:50

libralady - ouch!! still sounds painful, but at least you know what it is now and you have a plan!
Don't think x-rays will effect future ttc, I am certain that the level of radioactivity is negligble (sp?).

welcome to fairysnuff - BFP=Big Fat Positive

libralady · 15/08/2007 23:45

Well went to see the consultant tonight and after much prodding and poking and x-rays (after he'd called the radiologist in from home) he has diagnosed just a mechanical muscle sprain. Luckily the implant doesn't appear to have shifted and he is predicting it is just a muscle spasm that can occur when you are just walking (doesn't always occur when lifting or bending). He has said this can also occur post operative and since it has only been 10 weeks since my surgery it is not unexpected!. Wish he'd warned me of that before. It should clear up within a few weeks but if I am still in pain when he returns from holiday on 6th September I should go back to him immediately. So have now officially given up ttc this month as I don't feel like trying in any case. Plus after having had x-rays, you don't know what damage could be done if I was to conceive this month. Am surprised that the radiologist didn't ask if I was pg before going ahead. Plus, I didn't have to wear one of those aprons. Do you think the lack of this could cause any problems in the future ttc? At least if I am pissed off now I can see light at the end of the tunnel which doesn't result in surgery at this moment in time. Sorry I have gone on a bit.

LT - sorry to hear about your sister. You must feel terrible

ladylush · 15/08/2007 23:01

Hello all, thanks for your kind messages

Moodymoo - having to give birth in that situation............just heartbreaking and no wonder you feel the way you do

Upsidedowncake - thinking of you and hope it doesn't drag on too long

Looneytune - lol at you hiding your ov sticks under your car seat! Hope your hormone imbalance resolves itself soon. Have you thought about going for reflexology or something similar to sort out your hormones? Might help.

fairysnuff · 15/08/2007 22:00

Hello, can I join you all?
I am ttc in August, my 2nd LO.
Just checking, I am waiting for a BFPositive, but (I know I may be dim) what does the BF bit mean?

moodymoo · 15/08/2007 19:46

Bellie - hope it does the trick. It can't be nice for you having the bleeding. I was only on the day unit for half a day, was back home mid afternoon stuffing my face with a burgerking(don't normally eat them but woke up craving one )with dh at my beck and call. Good luck with it - am sure will be chatting before then though.

Bellie · 15/08/2007 19:33

thanks moodymoo - yes I am having it done under general - I am also having my cervix cauterised at the same time. Really hope it stops all my light bleeding from cd 10 onwards - really not pleasant to be bd and bleeding all the time!!

moodymoo · 15/08/2007 19:15

Bellie - the hysteroscopy was done under general anesthetic so I didn't feel anything. My consultant siad it would be too painful to be done under a local if he had to remove anything .I had a little bit of bleeding afterwards but not as heavy as a period and a dull ache in my tummy for a few days. Are you having it under a local or a general?
Looneytune - hysteroscopy is when they put a camera up inside you and have a look around, they can then take anything away that shouldn't be there. Think they use it instead of a d&c sometimes. My bleeding didn't get heavy until a week after I had had my baby and it was just awful, I couldn't go out because it would just flood my clothes and was passing huge clots(sorry for tmi). I felt light headed and it was just horrid. I didn't realise it wasn't normal though as this was my first baby and didn't get any advice afterwards on what to expect. I was too embarrassed to talk to anyone about it but eventually spoke to my SIL who made me contact the labour ward for advice. Ended up going back on the labourward where the consultant just made me feel stupid, sent away with antibiotics which made the bleeding a bit lighter but didn't stop it.It was my bereavment midwife who ordered me to see my own doctor. Had some ultrasounds done which showed some areas of concern and was referred for a d&c. In the end the consultant decided to do a hysteroscopy, but not before scaring me half to death, telling me that my scan results were unusual and wanted more advice - you can imagine what was going through my head - I didn't want to be bloody unsual!!Anyway bleeding stopped week before the procedure but had it done away. Didn't find anything so no idea why it all happened. Sorry for going on about it but is helping get it off my chest. it's strange but it is good talking to others who know what you have been through. I don't think that some of my friends realise that when I said I had to give birth that is exactly what I did.
Upsidedowncake - just take one day at a time, it is normal to have days when you din't want to do anything, just don't let those days out number the good days. I fell into this trap and ended up having motivational counselling to get me going again. Try to plan nice things to do and you are more likely to do it. I found it worked best when I made arrangements to go and see friends and family as I knew I had to stick to it, don't like letting people down. You have lots of friends on here who can help you when you get stuck.

Bellie · 15/08/2007 18:06

good plan - yeah testing does cost a fortune doesn't it - yet another reason why I keep myself believing until day period due rather than testing early! - also you probably don't want to wait over the weekend so get an appointment tomorrow or friday!

LoveAngel · 15/08/2007 17:56

Hi Bellie. I think if AF doesnt turn up tomorrow I will go and see my GP. I can't waste anymore money on tests! :-)

Bellie · 15/08/2007 17:32

loveangel - is it worth going to your GP?
Although it could purely be the stress of wanting a BFP that is causing your period to be late and the BFN's!
