TTC in August Looking for a BFP

Hi,
Thought I'd start a thread for those of us looking for a BFP in August. I'm ttc #2. Have a DS of 3.3. I'm current on CD15 - OD day - with a bit of luck. Have been bd'ing like mad over my fertile days and will continue to do so for a few more days yet. Then it will just be the 2ww. Anyone else in situation?

Happy anniversary-have a fun night out . DP is going fishing tonight, im home alone . I feel more tired this time-no time to rest, just a bit of sickness when i wake up, but it goes as soon as i eat. i was surprised i got such a clear BFP this time-never really have before. Hope you doing well.

ladylush · 17/08/2007 13:35

Yes I heard of it but I thought I wouldn't bother as I seem to conceive quite easily. Might be worthwhile taking when not ttc though so that I have a longer period between periods!

Hi Scorpio - I'm ok thanks. It's my wedding anniversary sunday so we're going out tomorrow night. Do you feel different to how you did with your previous pgs? I seem to remember you saying that you didn't get many symptoms with previous pgs.

libralady · 17/08/2007 13:31

LadyLush and Looneytune,
Have your heard about agnus castus?
You can get it from most health food shops especially Holland and Barrett and it apparently helps regulate periods to about 28 days. I've been thinking about taking it as some months I don't know where I am at. Only had CD24 last month!

Ladylush - CD6
Looneytune - CD27
Libralady - CD15

how are you ladylush?

ladylush · 17/08/2007 13:17

If you find you are really late menstruating you could try acupuncture or reflexology - I found it helped my cycle come back very quickly after my erpc.

looneytune · 17/08/2007 13:11

Oh no Hope I don't have to wait as long but I will prepare for that happening, thanks I've first went on the pill at 16 and came off about 10 years later and conceived straight away after 1 period BUT that one didn't work out so if it's a choice of waiting longer or going through the whole MC/ERPC thing, I'd rather just wait longer!

ladylush · 17/08/2007 13:04

Ladylush - CD6
Looneytune - CD27

ladylush · 17/08/2007 13:03

LT your cycle might change once the pill is out of your system. When I came off it my period didn't come for 3 months but hopefully that won't happen to you. Over the years my cycle has become shorter - it's rarely 28 days, more frequently around 23.

looneytune · 17/08/2007 10:22

moodymoo - cheers for that, I may give that a go. I'm actually ok with the cranberry juice, it's the water with bicarb of soda in - REALLY YUCK!!! And yes, are you going to test? It could be implantation???

Bellie - I don't think it's too late to complain, I would definitely try if you feel up to it, may help? Oh and yes, I had one of the BFP dreams and the first thing I wanted to do when I woke up was to test - but I didn't.........I did later that day though!

Loveangel - oh no, how strange, hope I didn't pass the lurgy through cyber space! How you feeling today?

Ladylush - I'm CD27 so period should be here very soon. I must say i'm a bit confused, can you guys help me? This is first month I'm expecting a proper period because I was on the pill before. I thought I had a 28 cycle on the pill because you get 21 pills in a pack and have a week break. Well, my period would always start on a Sunday and according to my workings, this makes it a 29 day cycle. Am I right? The Dr told me that I can test from when I am late based on pill periods which means if it doesn't come on Sunday then I CAN test (but it could also be that my cycles become slightly longer). Oh I'm waffling now, don't suppose it really matters, I just wondered

ladylush · 17/08/2007 10:06

moodymoo - hope it's a good sign that a bfp might be on its way rather than a what the heck is going on with auntie

bellie - so sad to read your story. Angry too. Glad you can still be positive after all that has happened.

Was just wondering if anyone feels like having a rollcall re. cycle days. I found it helpful on previous ttc threads and it saves me having to remember. I'm CD6 so about 5 days til I go 4 it iyswim (practice in the mean time)

Bellie · 17/08/2007 07:47

oohh moodymoo - could it be implantation bleed? Have you tested?

Loveangel - testing becomes addictive doesn't it? I hope that you are not getting cystitis - that would be awful - but maybe if you are would explain why you are feeling the way you are and not getting period?

I tested this morning - woke extra early after a dream of a BFP and guess what ? A BFN . Thing is that I don't feel pre-menstrual at all - no symptoms nothing.

Maybe this is the month that we all have phantom periods and are made to wait for ever

LoveAngel · 16/08/2007 21:08

Wow, Bellie that was such a sad story :-( I think you're indredibly brave for sharing.

LT - hope you're feeling better tonight? Let me tell you the weirdest thing - after posting earlier on that I had not had cystitis in 2 and a half yrs...I feel like I'm getting it tonight! How odd is that? I just had a slightly stingy wee and can feel it coming on. On the plus side, it means perhaps the achy feeling I've had in my tum isn't PMT at all but cystitis pain...which means I could be be preg...but I still refuse to get my hopes up until I see my doc on Monday. I am such a sa saddo, byt the way - i tested again this arvo and still BFN. That's 5 tests in 5 days. God, somebody stop me, I am fruit loop!

moodymoo · 16/08/2007 21:01

hmm not sure I could manage to pee on it in the car, only got a little tin can on wheels , would give my neighbours something to talk about though which would be funny .
Bellie - how weird is 'hope'? I counted myself out for this month following bad period pains , spotting and horrendous pmt (don't know what it is like to talk to dh - can only do short, snappy and shouting at the moment and what I thought was day 1 of my period - 5 days later and I am still waiting for it to arrive properly, getting really cheesed off - wish it would hurry up and get here so i can get back to ttc. don't usually have these problems so have had this little grain of hope growing that perhaps I was being too hasty, even though I know I am kidding myself.
I am sure that it isn't too late to write to the EPU and express your concerns at the way you were treated. It might help you in a theraputic? way to do it as well as you will feel like you have addressed it. When I saw the specialist consultant 4 months after i'd been in hospital she actually asked me if I had any issues with the way I had been treated and promised to review my scans to see if any errors were made in not picking up condition of my baby at earlier scan (which would have saved me having to go thru labour). I was really impressed with the way my concerns were dealt with and I am reassured that next time they will do everything they can for me.Let us know what you do x

Upsidedowncake · 16/08/2007 20:43

Hi Bellie. I don't think it would be too late to feed back now but it could be painful for you. You could perhaps write it down.

Good luck for tomorrow. Fingers crossed for good news for you.

Bellie · 16/08/2007 20:29

oops that should be a !

Bellie · 16/08/2007 20:28

Thanks girls, no I havn't managed to feedback to the epu, I know I should have done to make sure it doesn't happen again, but I just didn't want to go back through it until recently. Do you think that it would be too late to do anything now?

lol at moodymoo peeing in the car{wink]

Oh well day 28 tomorrow - testing day for me - not hopeful as have been bleeding continuously for the past 3 days but I still have a slight glimmer of hope until the morning!

Upsidedowncake · 16/08/2007 20:17

Moody. Are you planning on peeing on stick in car?

Upsidedowncake · 16/08/2007 20:13

Bellie. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm so sorry that you had such a horrible experience. The whole thing must have felt never-ending - it's good that you have positive stuff now.

It's awful that they refused to scan you till week 8. Have you felt able to feed back to the epu? It's great that by going private, you now feel more in control.

When is your hysteroscopy? Forgive me if you have said before.

moodymoo · 16/08/2007 19:50

Bellie, That is so sad. I can't believe that the hospital treated you like that - I bet they would act differently if it was them it was happening to did you complain about it afterwards? I am glad that you are now thinking positivly about the future, hopefully it wont be too long before you get a bfp followed by a lovely healthy teeney weeney baby.
Looneytune - hope the antibiotics are starting to kick in by now, don't envy you having to drink cranberry juice - yuck. Boots and Asda sell a good cystitis cure called cystapurin which works and tastes ok if you drink it really fast, obviously no good for you now but worth bearing in mind for any future occurences.
Upsidedown- hope that everything gets back to not being pg really quickly so that you can get back to ttc (if that's what you are plannig to do), it is good that you do not need an op, but it's still crap that any of this happened in the first place! How r u feeling today?
Ladylush - ov tests are stil under the car seat, just waiting for the day to slowly roll around when I can sneak one out and get a smiley face )

looneytune · 16/08/2007 19:44

Bellie - You say you shed a tear after writing that, I've just had to go upstairs so dh didn't see me and ask what's wrong. You poor poor thing. I'm so on your behalf, have you complained about the way you were treated? That's TERRIBLE. I just don't see why they refused scans, what harm is it to have a quick look?! Probably money but it's just disgusting. You sound like you've been very brave!!! {{{ hugs }}} I hope all goes well with what's coming up and fingers crossed you don't have to wait too much longer to get a BFP

Oh, and thanks, yes I felt a lot better.........till I tasted the water with bicarb of soda!!!! YUCK!! I'm trying to force it down but it's really not nice, would rather stick with the cranberry juice!

libralady · 16/08/2007 19:26

Gosh Bellie,
Your story is a long and sad one but at least you can now see light at the end of the tunnel. Hope everything goes well and you soon get a BFP.
Take care
Love LLxx

So glad to hear that you are feeling better LT - it sounds really strange to keep drinking so you keep peeing when it hurts so much, but it really does help!

Upsidedown, I don't mind sharing my story at all ! Hope it is not too long!

Got BFP In August. About week 5 I started getting really bad pains under my ribs - so bad that they would wake me up - and also pains in my lower back. I just put them down to lifting boxes as we had just moved house. Halfway though week five I started getting blood - bright red and some small clots. Went to GP and they said could be m/c but as I did not have sharp pains on one side it definately would not be ectopic .
Early Preg Unit refused to scan me until week 8 as if a m/c was going to happen there was nothing that they could do about it, and from my symptoms it was not ectopic.

Anyway keep on trying to get scan and they refused - for some reason it did not even occur to me to go private at all for a scan.

Got to week 8 - and my scan. Was scanned at 9am - they found it was ectopic and still living and my tube was huge as a result. At 10.30 I was under general and tube and baby removed. They couldn't save the tube as it had started to rupture.
Ended up with infection afterwards as had heavy bleeding for 5 weeks (huge clots the size of the palm of my hand sorry if TMI)

Had follow up with NHS surgeon in November - told that everything was OK and that the light bleeding that I was getting was normal as scarring was healing inside. Obviously this has continued and have now gone private - had intravaginal scans, ultrasounds and now booked iin for hysteroscopy and cauterisation of cervix in September.

Been a bit of a long journey, but am now feeling positive about the way future.

Hence my post when you thought that you were miscarrying about insisting on going to EPU - I would never let anyone wait like I had to . Didn't tell you my story at the time as didn't want to worry you unduly if you see what I mean.

God that feels better actually writing it down, although when I typed the bit about removing the baby I did shed a tear - but time is a healer and I think having some positive steps over the next month helps too.

looneytune · 16/08/2007 18:29

Thanks USDC, I feel much better, really I do. Think the 4 pints of water last night really helped! I'm now here with my pills, a glass of cranberry juice and a pint of water with bicarb of soda in - not sure I want to taste that one just yet!

I'm so pleased you don't need to have an operation, how awful that some people have their tubes removed JUST IN CASE

Upsidedowncake · 16/08/2007 18:24

So glad that they have identified it as a urine infection, Looney. sort of if you know what i mean Sorry that you're still feeling lousy.

Sorry Love angel about all the abbreviations. But yes it is good news of a sort that I am getting less pregnant by the day! Hope you get one or the other soon. Waiting is horrid.

And yes, I am really lucky that I won't need any intervention. Could you bear to share your story, Bellie, or would you rather not? A friend who is an obstetrician told me that most hospitals will whip your fallopian tube out just in case , but that the hospital I am at (St George's) pioneered this 'wait and see' method for people with really, really low amounts of hormone.
