@purplefig at this stage all the vitamins are going to bankrupt me and I won't be able to afford a baby 🙈

@MrsH497 @MrsEG hope you are both doing ok, it does take time I was off for the best park of 2 weeks and by that point I was ready to go back but glad I didn't go back sooner, DP had the first week off with me.

ELW85 · 22/05/2019 10:26

@Purplefig - peas; WTF?!?

ELW85 · 22/05/2019 10:25

@Lozzlepop - ideally LP needs to be 12-14 days but I don’t think they (medical people) see it as an issue unless it’s

MrsEG · 22/05/2019 10:24

@Bettythecat She essentially said I can take more than what is in the pre-natal, yes - especially for the B12 and Zinc. I never knew that about vitamin C! Good to know :)

@MrsH497 Sorry to hear that, but at least she has signed you off to recover. I am signed off at the mo but DH went back yesterday - he is already back home now after crying in front of a client. It takes time before you’re ready for people! X

purplefig · 22/05/2019 10:21

@MrsEG ahh well that's good to know! Yes please do keep us posted. I've just found one on Prime for around £13 which seems pretty reasonable from what I've seen, so I think I'll order that + hemp protein powder as can't have my pea stuff anymore. Corrr it's a bloody minefield. This is what I'm going for if anyone want's a non-fish option: www.amazon.co.uk/Omvits-100-Vegan-Omega-Supplement/dp/B076HVR8PZ/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Bettythecat · 22/05/2019 10:16

@purplefig thanks so much for doing the research about pregnacare I was just wondering that! @MrsEG did the nurse say anything about the quantities you need? I've just started taking 2000mg of Vitamin C a day as it's supposed to be a natural progesterone booster (along with B6 and magnesium which I also take). Vitamin c is in pregancare too but in tiny amounts so not enough to have an effect on progesterone so was wondering if it's similar for zinc etc.

MrsH497 · 22/05/2019 10:16

Well back from GP much as I hate skating the NHS she wasn't great. Told her everything from the start got to the bit where I got a positive pregnancy test and she said congratulations I interjected with not anymore. She was odd. But has given me 2 weeks off work if I need it. Just need to do a test in a week to confirm it's negative. 😐

Lozzlepop · 22/05/2019 10:16

I'm sure all of you ladies are beautiful, fuzzy or not 😂

@Bettythecat how long should your LP be? is this another thing I need to start counting? Will need to get an Abacus at this rate 😂

@MrsEG sheesh theres so much conflicting info out there heads over to Amazon Prime

@Jessikka enjoy your coffee, have a large one you deserve it!

MrsEG · 22/05/2019 10:15

@purplefig Cytoplan do vegan omega - I’ve ordered them and some of their pregna-plan (which tastes a LOT like seaweed!) - only on day 2 of it so can’t report back too much yet but doctors said a vitamin is a vitamin they don’t care about specific brands, but like you I wanted to avoid fish!

purplefig · 22/05/2019 10:08

Morning everyone!

My stats: Age 28, cycle 9, CD 16.

Current status: Hating OPKs and willing ovulation to arrive before Friday! (I'm away from DH then until Tues so will miss it unless it's super late).

@LokiCat Oooo Massaman curry and jasmine rice sounds banging!

@Crossfitgirl Helloooo!! I miss your essays! How're you doing?! Crazy that they've said you can only do light yoga - I thought the rule was you can carry on with whatever you've been doing so long as it feels good?

@ELW85 How was the gym? I did another lifting session this morning and feel AMAZING. Good grief I never thought I'd love exercise.

@Dollywilde Yeah it's absolutely rank isn't it?! It always seems to help though.

@Jessikka You savour that caffeine girl! Brew

@MrsEG thanks for the tip on the vitamins. I do wonder, why on earth is this info not made more blisteringly obvious?!

For anyone else on pregnacare conception, it looks like it does contain Vitamin D, B12 and Zinc but not Omega 3.

Good overview on Omega 3 here: ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Omega3FattyAcids-Consumer/ . There are 3 types: " ALA is found mainly in plant oils such as flaxseed, soybean, and canola oils. DHA and EPA are found in fish and other seafood" - so if you don't eat seafood it looks like you need to cover the DHA + EPA basis. I'm going to get something like this: www.amazon.co.uk/Opti3-Omega-3-Vegan-Omega-Supplement/dp/B0055R0BN4?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

And on the note of Weird Shit They Don't Tell You About Getting Pregnant: I stumbled upon this the other day: www.tomakeamommy.com/peas-fertility-can-peas-and-pea-protein-cause-infertility/ - apparently they did a load of tests back in the 50s to see if peas could be use as a contraception. They stopped in the end as they found it was only 60% effective. 60%!!!!!! I haven't had time to dig into the original research, but as someone who uses pea protein smoothies every day - I'll be swapping to something else.

flossy12 · 22/05/2019 10:05

@Jessikka I don't think anyone is a good sight in a morning anyway 😂👏🏼

I have woken up with what I think is conjunctivitis this morning 🙃 eyes all crusty and blood shot!! Who ever said TTC was glamorous eh 😂

Mrskcam · 22/05/2019 10:02

Hi all just popping in to mark my place on the thread.

I’m 13dpo today, af due Friday ... not sure if I feel optimistic or not as I just don’t feel anything at all. I don’t feel like I have any possible signs of pregnancy but I also am not feeling my usual pms tell tale signs. I’m confused, I guess I’ll jist wait and see ( did a test at 11dpo and bfn)

Jessikka · 22/05/2019 09:53

@MrsEG phew! you've made me feel better!

Thank you for the replies ladies ☺️ I feel better. And since AF is arriving today I am off for coffee. F#%k it. Bring me caffeine!

MrsEG · 22/05/2019 09:50

@Jessikka Yep, I do! I’m a natural blonde and very fair, and am covered in peach fuzz and facial hair. You can hardly notice it unless up close as the hair is white, but I do sometimes go for a Dermaplaning facial to get rid of it (and no, it doesn’t grow back dark!) It’s really really common with fair hair, don’t worry.

@XjustagirlX Time of day doesn’t matter at all - as long as it’s within the ovulation window there’s a 12-36 hour (ish) window to get the egg. Your best bet is just making sure you have plenty of sex in the days leading up to Ov as well as the day of, as sperm can live up there for like 5 days :)

@Bettythecat As it’s days post ovulation I count 1DPO as the day after Ov. Always just assumed that was the case!

So ladies, after getting everyone addicted to pineapple and Brazil’s I have some more info from the doctors pre-fertility testing!
She told me to ensure your pre-conception vitamins contain Vitamin D, B12, Zinc and Omega 3 and if not, be taking those as well (I am taking all on top of my pre-natal vits now as an optimum dose) so check the backs of the packets! She said Omega is an important one and rarely included.

Me and DH have our first appointment next Thursday. DH is sooooo looking forward to (in his own delicate words) ‘having a wank in a Doctors office while everyone waits’ haha! Thank god for me for now it’s just bloods!!

Bettythecat · 22/05/2019 09:42

@ELW85 @Lozzlepop this was the article I found which defines the luteal phase as including the day of ovulation

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5337433/

@Lozzlepop I don't think you're wrong i think that's right- I don't think one necessarily follows the other. So you could be 5 DPO but day 6 of your LP...? Who knows 🤷‍♀️. Probably not that important anyway but I was recently obsessing that my LP was too short but when I read that article and realised I should be counting my day of O as well I was reassured!

Jessikka · 22/05/2019 09:25

@flossy12 thanks for replying!
See I can see I have peach fuzz on my cheeks too - I am NOT painting myself in an attractive light this morning 😂😂

I think I am just hurting more this month as my best friend got "accidentally" pregnant last month and after crying that her OH would kill her for it and generally whinging about it, she has her first midwife appt today so though I am happy for her.. I also secretly hate her 😂😂

I'm just convinced there's something wrong and waiting 6months to find out is SHIT!

Anyway, i shall take my negativity and sod off. 😂 il come back when I'm in a better mood 🙈

Jessikka · 22/05/2019 09:22

@Lozzlepop thanks! I thought that too. Everyone has different levels due to genetics etc but the internet wouldn't give examples of excessive! It's stressing me out!

flossy12 · 22/05/2019 09:21

@Jessikka hey hun, I have slight side burns but also got blonde hair so can't really see them, no peach fuzz/hair past my jaw line though, although I do get bad breakouts of stress acne and PMS acne on my chest and back

Don't know if that helps or not, I'm sure you'll be fine x

Lozzlepop · 22/05/2019 09:19

@Bettythecat oh well...... maybe I am wrong 😶

@XjustagirlX hello and welcome! We usually DTD at night as we get up for work at 6am, we would maybe have a morning sesh over the weekends though 😉

@Jessikka I thankfully don't have any as I have very dark hair so would look like a little hairy monkey! I think a little fine hair is normal though so wouldn't worry!

Jessikka · 22/05/2019 09:13

@XjustagirlX welcome to the crazy journey!

I DTD usually at night - mainly because I start work two hours earlier than him and he wouldn't appreciate the early wake up call 🙈

Well ladies, I have a personal question you can totally ignore if you want:

How much facial hair do you have 🙈
I ask because I'm trying to understand what counts as excessive!

I'm a natural redhead so my body hair is very light blonde. It's hard to see so I've never thought about it... until yesterday when I saw I have very thin very fine hair on my neck underneath my jaw/ear. It's as if my sideburns never stopped! I also get a few thin blonde hairs sprouting on my chin - but nothing I'd consider heavy 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm so lost on what's normal and what isn't.

When I combine that with some hormonal acne on my jaw line I've managed to convince myself I have PCOS!

ELW85 · 22/05/2019 09:09

@Bettythecat - don’t know if this is helpful or not, but all of my apps count LP from day after O, and there’s this link, which suggests you exclude day of O in LP?
I’m no expert though!!

m.huggies.com.au/conception/ovulation/calculator/cycle/luteal-phase

XjustagirlX · 22/05/2019 08:59

So I have officially stated TTC this morning Grin Just wondering is it best to DTD in the morning or evening or does it not matter? We both work 9-5:30 jobs so no shift work or anything.

Bettythecat · 22/05/2019 08:52

@Lozzlepop thanks that makes sense. The only reason I was confused is because you apparently count the first day of your LP from the day of ovulation so then I was like 🤷‍♀️. Definitely 4DPO for me today then!

Lozzlepop · 22/05/2019 08:48

@Bettythecat I count Day 1 as the day after, but only because my Glow app tells me so 😂

Snoozy this morning, I have really struggled this week, I think I know its because I know the holiday is so soon. Gym today and tomorrow though and a busy 2 days of work so hopefully the weekend will be here before we know it!!

Bettythecat · 22/05/2019 08:25

Hi all just marking my place but trying desperately to be less stressed and anxious about TTC and staying away from message boards and google definitely helps that so will only contribute every now and then.

My stats:
Age 30
Missed miscarriage this year diagnosed at 8 weeks surgery at around 10
Cycle #8 if you count the months i was pregnant and #6 if not. Also had sex once in fertile window the first month before that but not counting that now 😂 to keep my numbers down!!

I ovulated Saturday so am 4DPO. Do you all count day 1 as the day after ovulation or the day of ovulation?! I've always wondered and never known!

@FlapJackered have you gone via the NHS for your fertility testing? I had thought you had to wait 2 years for investigations on the NHS but good news if you don't 😊
