When I miscarried before my first son we had a thread like this and a graduated thread. Those ladies were brilliant. Might be a good idea :)

@Avocuddles could be either way. I've been having some ovulation spotting a couple of months since our TFMR.
My doctor said each pregnancy can reset/change your cycle so anything is possible.

fnej01 · 09/06/2019 18:21

@strawberrye - today is first day of cyclogest, so nothing really to report at the moment. Obvs its all glamour with the where and when of the cyclogest but needs must Blush. Sounds like you are getting good care at Coventry, I found them really good there. They diagnosed my NK cells. I have a follow up call Prof Brosens there on Tuesday to discuss my second biopsy result (which was also high like the first) so am thinking that it won't change anything treatment wise and I will be going with the pred from BFP (plus heparin and aspirin) My main RMC is st Mary's (also Tommy's), that is where they diagnosed my APS. This was after I thought my local RMC had already covered everything, but the Tommy's units clearly do a wider range of tests than local. I was really shocked that I got a different diagnosis from the local RMC, so It might be worth preparing yourself. I found the whole appt very difficult to process and fortunately DH realised and made notes.

@mistymeow - it's good they are getting a clearance from RMC before moving to IVF at least you will know what you are dealing with. Is this your first appointment with Dr S? I plan to go to him privately if I have another couple of losses.

I have to say after 4 losses, both DH and I are pretty excited to be trying again, and ready to face whatever comes. Both RMC have been pretty clear with us it might be a numbers game... Clearly I am symptom spotting like a trouper though

Kayjay2018 · 09/06/2019 18:19

@Avocuddles if I'm honest I'm not too sure of the implications. My mum tried to have children for 7 years before she had me in 1981. She was diagnosed with lupus in the 90s and when the drs went through the history they advised that (I suppose because hpts were not as sophisticated then) she may have had very early losses that she thought were just long cycles.

I believe I have raynauds and have issues with the sun which could be indicators I'm at risk. I was tested in my teens and 20s and didn't have it (I had my son when I was 22). I think this miscarriage has made me question everything so thought I may as well get checked out in case I ever get pregnant again, I'd rather know if there is anything they/I can do.

Avocuddles · 09/06/2019 18:04

@Mistymeow @Treaclepie19 thanks for the reassurance. Spotting has now changed from very dark (mc type blood) to pink which makes me wonder if it's a light af on her way, though seems early only 17 days post MC? My cycles were 40+ days prior to conception so was expecting things to be similar now. It took 11 months (6 or 7 long cycles) to conceive, I'm assuming now I've managed to get pregnant naturally that I'll need to wait a while before I broach the nhs fertility treatment question again, but thinking once 6 months have passed my GP might be receptive to starting the referral again? I'll be 36 by then....

Ironically (or perhaps not?) I conceived the month that we stopped actively 'trying' as we were waiting for our first fertility clinic appointment. No ovulation tests, no legs in the again, just standard DTD. This makes me keen to try to avoid stress and just try to DTD every other day for the time being rather than obsessing about ovulation, which I don't think was good for my mental health. Though I'm sure after my first full period I'll be all over those OPKs!

@Mistymeow I like the idea of a 'graduates' thread. It's nice to hear positive stories but hearing about early pregnancy symptoms does unsurprisingly bring back some bad memories. I will be very glad to have this community off understanding and knowledgable ladies around me if I do ever conceive again though.

@strawberrye sorry things are so challenging for you but your experience at Coventry sounds really positive, so fingers crossed everything that they are suggesting will lead to your rainbow.

@Kayjay2018 What are the implications if you test positive for lupus SLE?

Mistymeow · 09/06/2019 17:46

@indreamland agree with the others, try not to test, i don’t think it’s helping with your anxiety. Perhaps it might be an idea to call up your doctor’s and have a chat with them, they may offer a blood test. Tentative congratulations!
@tinypaws I’m also not pregnant and have been here for over a year. It’s such a long journey with so many hurdles. The clinic admin sounds like it’s not helping at all- did you change clinics in the end? Do you have a timeline for the next transfer?
@fnej01 @strawberrye I have my appointment with Dr Shehata next month and from that the assisted conception unit will make a judgement if we should go ahead and do ivf. I feel ready for the ivf but don’t want to risk it if there are undiagnosed issues, hence the rmc. Hope you’re both feeling ok.
@alicerr I would count the first day of actual flow as the start of af, rather than spotting. It sounds like your body is still settling down but if it’s making you anxious do go and see your gp.
@avocuddles sometimes you can get a little bit of spotting post miscarriage, even after a negative test. Keep an eye on it but think it’s normal.

Well I don’t think I’ll get an opportunity this next cycle as I’ll be away during fertile week, such a shame. Wondering perhaps now there are so many pregnant ladies on this thread that you may want to start your own in Pregnancy (Pregnant after loss perhaps?). I love hearing your updates but perhaps it is hard for those who are struggling right now, and at the same time you may hold back your own anxiety because you don’t want to upset anyone? There did used to be a thread in Pregnancy but I can’t see it.

Kayjay2018 · 09/06/2019 17:44

Hi, I posted a few weeks ago and not been around much since, congrats to those with bfps, I hope they are sticky ones. Sorry for any newcomers to the thread, it's awe full that anyone has to suffer a pregnancy loss.

I'm after a bit of advice. I'm 38, hubby 52, had a natural mc at 7 weeks back in mid April. Been ttc since last August when we got married. No hint of a bfp other than the baby I lost. Had two periods now since mc, first one no ovulation, second one confirmed OV with opks and bbt charts. I came on AF today, luteal phase only 11 days (prior to this 12 days was my earliest and 13 days the norm). I've been taking pregnacare conception since mc. We DTD bang on the correct times and not even a hint of a bfp.

Can anyone recommend anything else I can try? I have ordered some proceive max which will be ready to collect in boots tomorrow and have my second reflexology on weds. I temp and use opks and this month recorded heart rate, does anyone else have any suggestions as I'm willing to try almost anything? I think I'm fairly healthy and not on any other medications

Off to drs on Wednesday to discuss testing for lupus as there is a mc link, my mum has lupus SLE and there is thought it could be hereditary so I want a blood test to rule that out!

Treaclepie19 · 09/06/2019 17:39

@Avocuddles it could be AF or it could be ovulation bleeding?
Hope you're okay Flowers

rubyroot · 09/06/2019 17:12

@strawberrye- Sorry for what you are going through, but it sounds like you are seeing the right people, IVF sounds promising. Hope it doesn't get to that- fingers crossed for you. I know many many people who had multiple miscarriages with healthy babies.

Avocuddles · 09/06/2019 16:33

Hi everyone.

It's now 2 and a half weeks since my natural MC at c7 weeks. Bleeding stopped around a week ago and I took a negative pregnancy test a few days ago so DH and I are intending on resuming 'normal service', so to speak, although I'm trying to steer clear of OPKs for a month or so as I never achieved positive results in the past which led us to be referred for fertility treatment, which was the point at which I found out i was pregnant!

Today I've had a small amount of dark spotting when I wiped and wondered if anyone has had this? My CM seems a bit different to usual so prior to the spotting I wondered if I was ovulating, but now I'm just confused! I'd assume it's far too early for AF to be on her way?

AliceRR · 09/06/2019 13:08

@Bluebelltulip Yes I think you’re right. From my reading today it seems it’s probably not that unusual for cycles to be a bit irregular only three and a half months after birth. It takes some people months to get their period back at all doesn’t it? Yes I’m in touch with the BM still so I might call her or the gp but I feel more satisfied everything is most likely fine. Annoyingly the consultant asked me at the PM appointment if my period is regular and I just said “yes” (I was probably just distracted with everything). Thanks and sorry, I’m such a worrier! 🙈 x

Bluebelltulip · 09/06/2019 12:43

@AliceRR I asked the doctor at the review appointment if my unusual length cycles and he said it can take 6 months for things to even out. Obviously if you are worried there is no harm in talking to your GP I just wanted to let you know what I was told. Are you still in contact with your bereavement midwife? She might be able to advice you too.

AliceRR · 09/06/2019 12:07

The other thing is my PMT was really bad the day before the spotting started four days ago and seemed to go away when my spotting started... so I think it’s just light af and maybe it’s not “spotting” 🤔

AliceRR · 09/06/2019 12:04

But, does anyone know, does it count as spotting if it’s immediately before my period? Last month I had two days of “spotting”, 2 days af, three days “spotting”. This cycle I four days “spotting” and today it’s more af-like so is the “spotting” actually just v light af bleeding?

I was just reading about causes of spotting and something I read suggested it’s not spotting if it’s light bleeding at the beginning or end of a period

🤷🏻‍♀️

Treaclepie19 · 09/06/2019 12:00

@InDreamland Aladdin was so good! I struggled not to sing.

Well I'm a bit neurotic over here already. Cycle one and already panicking about doing couch to 5k. I've nearly finished week 2 so not far into it and worried it'll be too much to be doing (I'm very unfit 😱)

Also considering temping so there goes my chilled out approach 😂

AliceRR · 09/06/2019 11:54

@rubyroot No don’t feel bad

@strawberrye No I haven’t but I will speak to the gp I think as if there’s anything going that will make it difficult to TTC then I’d rather sort it out sooner than later

@InDreamland Yes exactly it’s a new cycle and by its still early for us in trying for #2 so I’m trying not to get too upset about it. I think I will still see the GP as this isn’t normal for me.

Don’t worry about saying you’ve taken more tests if you do BTW

InDreamland · 09/06/2019 11:35

Thank you @strawberrye @Beaglemum93 @Bluebelltulip @AliceRR @Yukka @TinyPaws @rubyroot I know you all speak perfect sense and I should step away from the tests. I won't admit on MN for the next few days when I take more tests . I know I must try to distract myself. So petrified of seeing AF tomorrow (or today). After Friday and yesterday feeling rough, today I feel absolutely fine physically. Lots of energy and just feel good. That isn't a good sign.

@strawberrye I love Aladdin the original Disney animated film and the west end show in London was amazing. My sis wants to see the film with me. Need to find time for us to both go. Did you get the urge to sing along? My sis and I had to stop ourselves when we went to see Beauty and the Beast (we were the only adults in the cinema without kids with us).

@TinyPaws fx the clinic admin start speeding up and sort the transfer out for you asap.

@AliceRR sorry AF has properly shown up now. However, fx this new cycle is the cycle for your rainbow. Will you still see your GP about the spotting?

@fnej01 fx this cycle for you. Hopefully with the support from RMC you'll get your BFP soon.

strawberrye · 09/06/2019 11:30

@fnej01 hope you had nice hols? How are you finding the cyclogest? I feel the same - will have been on this thread almost 18 months soon. 18 flipping months. You would think I'm 58 not 28 with my fertility!!

I am OK, just popping on here occasionally as I feel like most of the thread is moving on and I'm not. However on the positive side I have now been seen at Tommy's Coventry which was a much more positive experience than my local RMC. I have been given cyclogest for 7DPO onwards and am really hoping that it works. Prof Quenby has told us to try for 6 months with that, and if I get pregnant and still miscarry then she would recommend we start on one of her trials which is beginning in August looking at endometrial receptivity. If I continue to not get pregnant or just have CPs then she will recommend I have IVF on the NHS on the basis we have been TTC for 20 months and have never had a clinical pregnancy. So I feel we have a bit of direction and a plan at least. I will be interested to hear as well if the RMC bloods at Coventry show anything different to those I had done locally.

@Lilimum7 wondering how you are too?

fnej01 · 09/06/2019 11:00

@TinyPaws @strawberrye I'm still here TTC. nearly a year on this thread now 😬. I have been away on hols and laying low not wanting to disturb the pregnancy chat as am clearly in a different space. Am 6/7dpo this morning and have started my cyclogest as per RMC protocol. Not totally sure on anything this month as no opk just DTD everyday for two weeks and hoping for the best. Hope you get the blast transfer sorted tiny I bet that is hard work. How are you strawberry?

Congrats to all the bfps ladies definitely feels like a lucky thread. I hope you all have happy and healthy pregnancies.

Shout out to my aps crew How are the injections @hayleyfx? @Yukka not long now?

@Pop1234 saw your post about Dr S. I have seen others comment on his lack of bedside manner but clearly he gets results. When do you see him next?

X

rubyroot · 09/06/2019 10:35

Meant us

rubyroot · 09/06/2019 10:35

@InDreamland agree- they’re positive, now you just have to wait it out. I went to Sainsbury’s and nearly got another test, but I looked at it (like you do with creamcakes) then decided to walk away. So I understand why you feel the need to test.

I understand it’s hard seeing so many pregnant, but is pregnant ladies are so anxious. Even a heartbeat and a scan is not much reassurance to anyone. Flowers

strawberrye · 09/06/2019 09:33

@TinyPaws waves hello! I'm not pregnant (standard!) although I know what you mean it seems there are more pregnant ladies on here than TTC at the moment which is lovely to see,but hard for those of us who aren't lucky enough to be there yet. Sorry the clinic admin is proving frustrating. Do you have any idea when your next transfer will be?

@AliceRR sorry for AF, have you ever had your progesterone looked into with your pre-AF spotting?

AliceRR · 09/06/2019 09:26

@ImDreamland It’s a clear positive. I agree it’s a good idea to leave the tests alone if you can but I know it’s easier said than done.

AF has shown up for me, after four days of spotting (which is not usual), but after a 30 day cycle which is exactly when Ovia predicted it would show - went to make it on the app and it’s already marked as CD1 🤷🏻‍♀️

TinyPaws · 09/06/2019 09:13

@InDreamland Congrats on the BFP. Are you 100% sure that's a FRER and not a FRRR? They look almost identical. The line progression on the cheapies looks good (not the line progression means that much anyway).

Nothing much to report here, still in clinic admin hell trying to get our remaining blastocyst transferred. Feeling a bit left behind tbh, it feels like everyone else is pregnant.

Yukka · 09/06/2019 08:45

@indreamland you really can’t compare different brands like that, you’ll never get a consistent response - pick one and stick to it. I agree with Strawberrye you need to step away for a couple of days, and let the hcg do its thing. It’s doesn’t increase at the same rate for each pregnancy so comparing to last time isn’t going to help you either. Try and find a way to sit tight, have faith that your body is doing all the right things, let af due date pass and test again on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Panicking and stressing will add to your body’s workload right now. Try and stay calm. These first few weeks are the most important xx

Beaglemum93 · 09/06/2019 08:45

@InDreamland the line progression is looking good on the other tests. I think looking back at the photo you posted the other day the FRER looks a bit darker too. Pregnancy after loss is really hard so I completely understand why you're so anxious. I'd tell you to step away from the tests but I know that's all you can do to try and reassure yourself at this point (and it would be highly hypocritical of me to do so). Line progression tends to be quite slow in the beginning as HCG only doubles every 48-72 hours and there isn't much to double at that point so as long as you see some progression I would try not to worry. I really hope this is successful for you.
