Mimosa - it's hard to say until you know how it effects you. I think the cream would not be strong enough to stop a period so you could probably just use it until AF shows, or until the day it's due. The pesseries are stronger and I have found in general my period starts 3 days after I stop using them, so now I stop around 11 or 12 dpo to get a normal LP.
For this cycle I would use your cream until AF due and see how it effects it

Karigan195 · 29/05/2019 08:14

Just popping in to say congratulations to Critter and to wish baby dust to everyone else.

Chatbash72 · 28/05/2019 23:27

Have just stumbled upon Giovanna fetchers podcasts... this weeks is Arlene Philips... haven't been brave enough to listen as fear it's quite emotional but she had her baby at 47!!! Chucking more hope out there... and baby dust.. and on Thursday is get to spend the day with a dear friend who we would so at home here. Her little boy would have been 3 tomorrow and like me she is on the quest.. my age too so we will overdose of conception talk.. perfection 💕

littlemimosa · 28/05/2019 23:00

Thanks Chat for the positivity! Needed that.

Welcome back Rose. Sorry to hear you suffered two losses. Hopefully all those lovely vitamins will be helping things.

Cleo - question for you: whey do I stop the progesterone cream? I’m CD26 today but I THINK I ovulated approx CD15/16. So I’d usually be expecting a 30 day cycle (at least) and I’ve only been using the cream for 10 days. Help!

rosegardenista · 28/05/2019 18:20

Hi ladies - I've namechanged but I was in the threads late last year until took a break from TTC for various reasons. Now slowly getting back in game. I had 2 MCs last year (7 and 11 weeks) and since I had MC last May, I've been taking obviously normal prenatal vitamins, but also ubiquinol (300mg), vit C (1000mg) and vit D spray (1000), so hoping that they've helped my eggs (at my age!) and all that Grin During the "break" I've definitely enjoyed too much wine and cheese so goal is to lose some weight. I worry my periods are quite short (26-27 days) and light (compared to what I had in my twenties before I went on a pill and didn't have any for a decade) but GP is saying it's all good if they are regular Hmm

To add - I'm 40, TTC #1 (2 MCs in 2018)

I'll need to catch up on the thread but good luck all Flowers

Cleozeta · 28/05/2019 08:11

Thank you chat. I have been feeling very down trodden lately about the whole thing, and rappidly losing hope. I have 2 friends now expecting, and I'm starting to feel time is wrapping up on me as I watch them move forward.
Thankyou for the positivity, I think we all need to heae it!

Chatbash72 · 28/05/2019 00:05

Sorry DON'T be alarmed by the article title!!!! PLEASE it's taken from an article about well known LIES about menopause

Chatbash72 · 28/05/2019 00:03

PERIMENOPAUSE MEANS NO MORE BABIES
Definitely not true! Many a 50+ woman gets surprised by a perimenopause baby.
Until you have gone for a year if over 50 and 2 years under 50, you need contraception. HRT isn’t a contraceptive and women can, and do, get pregnant whilst taking it.
So if you are not quite ready for a baby don’t take a chance, it only takes one good egg!
Copied from an article from the D M, a menopausal expert, female and the rest of the article was quite good...
paying it forward on channeling some positive vibes.. thank you ladies.. felt a bit deflated today, which you know isn't my normal stance.. sending love and baby dust 💕🥰

littlemimosa · 27/05/2019 23:32

Cleo and Ellie, we’ve all been there. You’re not on your own 😂

Cleozeta · 27/05/2019 20:41

EllieJaye - I did exactly the same thing about half an hour ago 🤣
It couldn't have been any whiter. It was so white it was almost inverted, but yet I still stared at it under a lamp from every angle (and I actually did the test this morning!!)
Sometimes I think I may have actually lost the plot altogether.

EllieJaye · 27/05/2019 20:38

Sorry @chatbash72 that was supposed to be a reply to you. Im not so IT literate Grin

EllieJaye · 27/05/2019 20:37

Thank you, its good to vent. And its so hard to see some journeys are so straightforward, its natural for it to feel unfair. It hurts! Sending hugs xx

EllieJaye · 27/05/2019 20:26

Thanks everyone. Spent most of today squinting at photos of non existent lines where there's only white, then zooming in to the white, inverting the white, examining it from every angle..... all the time knowing deep down there's nothing there.....I'd feel a total loon telling anyone else this!

twinkledag · 27/05/2019 19:05

Welcome @EllieJaye, sorry to hear your journey has been tough and good luck 💐

@Chatbash72 - those announcements are tough aren't they? I was at a kids party today and felt sad when I saw my son's friends with younger siblings 😢. Although I also heard today a fellow 'over 40' friend who had ivf for a sibling for her little boy miscarried at 14 weeks and thats ahard to hear too. So sad ☹️

twinkledag · 27/05/2019 19:01

Thanks for the replies everyone. My diet is like everyone else's - normal with the odd treat thrown in! Could do with losing a stone I guess. Exercise terrible/non existent 😳. Ok vaping stops from NOW.

BooseysMom · 27/05/2019 19:00

look for rainbows in the rain.. i love this and guess what, I looked out the bedroom window just now and what did I see? .. a beautiful rainbow! What a coincidence 😊

BooseysMom · 27/05/2019 18:55

@twinkledag.. i completely echoe Cleo on this. You have to have some little vices and a glass of wine a couple of times a week won't make any difference. I actually went out and drunk the best part of 2 bottles one night when I had no idea i was pregnant!! I was 40 and nearly 41 when DS was born. I didn't take supplements but just tried to keep a healthy bmi and exercised regularly. I don't do any now and am 5 years older and half a stone heavier and not a BFP in sight for years! Just relax, def de-stress as much as poss, exercise regularly and eat and drink sensibly and there's every chance.. baby dust wafting your way!

@EllieJaye.. welcome and sorry to hear of your mcs. I had two and swore I wouldn't bother again then DS arrived not long after the last one! Good luck and baby dust x

littlemimosa · 27/05/2019 18:16

Welcome Ellie - I’m in a similar boat to you, I have 6&8 year olds, been ttc #3 for 3 years but I’m just turned 43 and have no miscarriages. So sorry for your losses. I like your saying ‘look for rainbows in the rain’! I’m currently trying progesterone cream in my luteal phase as I’ve recently been getting irregular periods. Also trying to deal with stress and some emotional cr@p (check out the books Inconceivable and Fertile Heart).

Twinkle - I agree with Cleo, a couple of wines here and there won’t hurt but I’d definitely be looking at fully quitting the vaping and cigs. Also do you do any yoga or relaxing? What’s your diet like?

Chat - big hug to you today. Pregnancy announcements are a stab in the heart when you’re long term ttc. You’re allowed to be upset💕💐

Chatbash72 · 27/05/2019 15:23

Welcome @EllieJaye I hear you!!
Just found out one of hubbys friends couples are "pregnant again" not you're not preg your wife is.. whoppty fucking do was my reply... yup today feeling warn out and normally I try to stay so positive.. sending lots of love and moan away.. xxx

EllieJaye · 27/05/2019 10:51

Wonderful to see the beautiful twins posted by CritterTamer - absolute ray of sunshine in such a difficult time!

Congratulations to everyone here who has their BFP and love to those who don't yet. When there's rain look for rainbows.

EllieJaye · 27/05/2019 10:47

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining!? Been searching the net for some comfort, hope, I don't know, and came across this thread.
I'm 40, 41 next month and have 2 children, aged 6 and 8.
We've been trying to conceive #3 for nearly 4 years. Miscarried at 6.5 weeks in 2015 and miscarried again at 10 weeks in 2018.
I swore after last time, when I miscarried 3 weeks after seeing a strong heartbeat that I couldn't do it again. However here I am, cycle 2 of actively trying (we've not prevented at all since July 15). I'm 11dpo however had a definite negative on a FRER this morning so don't think this is our month either. I feel so tired! Not fatigued but drained I guess, of the ongoing hope followed by crushing disappointment. Sorry to moan! Just one of those days after yet another BFN

Cleozeta · 27/05/2019 10:08

I think you need to be realistic. If you cut everything out and focus everything on ttc you could end up miserable and not even succeed. You have to live your life too. But cutting things down within reason is a good idea. I've cut down on stress, that seems to have been my main problem causin area. And alcohol, but I will still have one or two here and there. Suppliments and TCM may also help regulate things, but as far as actual conception, it's just luck of the draw

twinkledag · 27/05/2019 09:10

Morning everyone, wondering if anyone does anything in particular to 'help' their fertility? We both take supplements and try and eat healthily but also realistically!

We vape - a few puffs at the end of the working day with a low nicotine liquid but I've been reading even low levels aren't good so quitting that from today. I also confess to having the odd cigarette on a night out, I'd say I've had less than 5 this year? A few puffs and I feel sick and chuck it!

I don't drink as much as I did when I was younger at all, on average 2 wines a week? Should I cut it out?

I don't want to be all 'woe is me' but it's so hard to be 'good' all the time. I've been on this journey for 8 years in total, I should've had all my children by now and be out of this TTC stage!

Cleozeta · 25/05/2019 07:54

I think a lot of it is down to the luck of the draw to be honest. I'm over 2 years trying now and I've forgotten what hope feels like. Age creeps on and chances get lower day by day

sheshootssheimplores · 24/05/2019 22:11

I though AMH measured your egg reserve. In terms of the quality I suspect you wouldn’t know outside of IVF.

I seem to hear of so many people successfully conceiving healthy pregnancies in their forties. Personally I can’t seem to catch a healthy egg at all. Which is very frustrating as I don’t drink or smoke and haven’t done either since my early twenties. It makes me wonder what’s screwed my eggs up so badly 🤷‍♀️
