Welcome all

So I'm having a very odd cycle .. I'm 5 days late AF feels like she is on her way but no sign. Boobs are killing. I'm def not pregnant as we haven't BD this month☹️ I'm miffed because I'm sure AF will arrive just as I am off on hols and that is what I do not want! Also I've been regular as clockwork day 25 for months and this is the month that things go awry! ☹️☹️☹️

Hi ladies....just a quick question....can you still do dtd whilst taking Mexdroprogesterone medication to induce a period??

Mikki2019 · 17/06/2019 14:23

Booseys - have a look at Lara Briden’s website. She has loads of info on periods and associated symptoms in 40s such as awful pms and palpitations. She gives loads of advice on solutions.

Cleo - no I haven’t! I keep trying to get an appointment but not been successful yet. So hard to fit in with work. Must do it this week.

Kim- if I were you I’d be wanting to know why my periods had gone awol. Go back to your gp and to ‘my gynae’ and demand more tests. Have you been v stressed recently? I know stress affects me hormonally now more than ever. If you suffer with ocd maybe you need to be looking into some therapy for that? I hope that doesn’t sound critical, it just stood out to me in your post. I imagine it’s a very difficult thing to cope with....hth x

BooseysMom · 17/06/2019 13:58

Hi @Realitysucks..welcome back. Sorry to hear your last ivf was unsuccesful. At 43 there is still hope.. good luck

@MaryShelley1818... sorry to hear about your bfn.

As for me, I look in the mirror and see my DM staring back at me and i realise i'm out of time. Plus omg the run-up to AF is brutal atm. I have palpitations, feel nauseas and ache all over. I confessed to a lady gp we were ttc, feeling rather embarrassed due to my advanced age, and she just advised to take folic. She wouldn't do my hormones as my periods still regular but i know something feels not quite right Confused

Hope everyone is ok ..thanks for being there to read my sob story!!

Kimm123 · 17/06/2019 13:38

And to add to all of this...i have endometriosis polyp which i recently had removed under surgery....so what would you recommend fertility meds aswell as reflexology?? Ive got letrozole how about you???

Kimm123 · 17/06/2019 13:33

Kintan....she didnt say why they may have stopped apart from my age...but last year i literally were having heavy periods were i was housebound so dr gave me tranemic acid tablets to calm the flow down..which did help also im on antidepressants too for ocd....so not sure why they have stopped... but she has given me medication to induce a bleed than to take letrozole on certain days...oh gosh its sooo confusing

Kintan · 17/06/2019 13:10

@Kimm123 Discharge isn't just linked to ovulation, but rather fluctuating hormone levels, so I wouldn't necessarily use that as a sign of ovulation. I'm 41 and currently 9 weeks pregnant. I was having regular periods though and took one round of clomid to 'strengthen ovulation' as my consultant put it. I also took loads of supplements as recommended in the book 'it starts with the egg', lost a bit of weight, had my DH also take conception vitamins, and had 3 months of fertility reflexology. Wishing you lots of luck, but I think your doc needs to get to the bottom of why your periods have stopped before you can decide what to do next x

Kimm123 · 17/06/2019 12:49

Sorry meant oh ok...not other half lol

Kimm123 · 17/06/2019 12:46

Oh ok....we will let u off then....is ivf process hard to go through? I think theres too much faffing about but i suppose if you really want to concieve than you got no choice....have you got children before the twins? xx

CritterTamer · 17/06/2019 12:31

@kimm123 there's no secret I'm afraid - the twins are the result of our second round of IVF 😊

Kimm123 · 17/06/2019 12:23

@CritterTamer....how did u concieve??? Did you use any fertility treatment or supplements??? And how old are you if you dont mind me asking??? You need to tell us your secret pls lol xx

Kimm123 · 17/06/2019 11:46

But the funny thing is i have discharge all the time....sometimes yellowish.clear white..all sorts...so whats all this about??? Im confused with this ovulating bit pls help xx

Kimm123 · 17/06/2019 11:43

Well ladies....here we ago abit update....secretary finally called back said amh test results will come back in 4 weeks as they are sent to London...and i have not ovulated this month and to increase dose on Letrozole....😂😂😂😂

Kintan · 17/06/2019 09:54

Hi @Kimm123 I wonder why your fsh results were so different - did you get both tests on day 3 of your cycle? @CritterTamer Hope you and the twins are doing well! The way my midwife explained it to me is that you can get pregnant again before your period returns as you have ovulated because they are about to return. But if periods have disappeared for non post-partum reasons I’m guessing they might not return without some kind of medical intervention. Hope you can get to the bottom of things Kimm123 x

CritterTamer · 17/06/2019 01:34

@kimm123 it's not quite the same thing, but I've been told by both doctor and midwife when discussing post partum contraception that you can absolutely ovulate and get pregnant despite not having any period0s while breast feeding, so I guess it's very possible!

Kimm123 · 17/06/2019 00:24

But i read somewere you can still get pregnant without periods but as long as you are ovulating. Not sure if this is true?? What do you think lovely ladies???

Kimm123 · 17/06/2019 00:21

@sheshootssheimplores.....thanks for replying....ive been to drs they said ive got high fsh but its fluctuating for the last 6-9 months and that it could be menopause...but apart from this no other symtoms..
The my gynae did bloods and said everything is fine...no sign of menopause...she gave me meds to induce a period then letrozole on certain days
But the funny thing is i feel i am ovulating myself with discharge etc.
I recently have done amh test and progesterone so waiting for those results.

Rose68 · 16/06/2019 22:48

Hi Ladies, sorry I have been off line for a while, we were away and we are in the process of selling our house and buying a new one, so it’s manic here really.

I haven’t read back, except the last page, but just wanted to say @Realitysucks I totally get how you feel, I did broach the subject of DE with DH and was shut down before I’d even finished my sentence. I knew what he would say before he said it, and I also know he is right. As others have said, if I had no children I wouldn’t hesitate to use donor eggs, but I still think there could be difficulties, having said that, is it any different to adoption? I guess maybe it is because the child would be biologically his, but not mine. Anyway, I digress, for us at this stage with 2 biological children, we wouldn’t use DE, but I totally get why some women would and do.
I have thought about fostering.... not now... but maybe in the future when my boys are older and less demanding (if that ever happens). I’m still finding it really quite full on at ages 9 and 7, but in a different way to when they were little. DH isn’t really on board with this idea either, but I think I have a chance of talking him round, if in the future I still want to do it.

sheshootssheimplores · 16/06/2019 22:21

Kimm i know of lots of people managing to conceive at 42. I got to 17 weeks when I was 42 but very sadly had to terminate due to the child having Edwards Syndrome which is life limiting. Have they investigated your lack of periods? Obviously you need to still be ovulating to be able to fall pregnant.

sheshootssheimplores · 16/06/2019 22:19

DE is such a difficult subject isn’t it. I always said to DP that I would have considered DE if I hadn’t have been able to conceive my own but he wouldn’t have agreed to it. As I’m trying to conceive no.3 it wouldn’t make sense to have two biologically mine and then one genetically someone else’s. I would forever feel like i would love the child differently I think.

If however it was my last attempt of having a child I would absolutely do it.

Kimm123 · 16/06/2019 21:57

Hi ladies....what are your opinons about me conceiving at 42 yrs old who has had no periods since january 2019

Kimm123 · 16/06/2019 21:38

@Russkipsy.....hope ur ok....hows the reflexology going? Im so relying on that its going to work xx

MaryShelley1818 · 16/06/2019 20:44

So...in my head I thought it would be the best Father’s Day present ever to be able to hand DH a BFP!!!
POAS 5 days early...BFN and now feel rubbish!! Whhhyyyyyy would I do that?!

Russkispy · 16/06/2019 20:00

@Realitysucks thank you. I'm ok. Had my first AF since MMC and D&C. We will TTC this cycle and if not successful then all set for DE in August. I'll have to start preparations with my next AF and embryo transfer will be in August. I'd say we tried everything and more and finally came to our very last plan B - DE which I always said it would be our last option. We had IUIs, 2 rounds of IVF and the last one showed trisomy in 18. And 2 missed miscarriages. I'm already 43 and I don't want to continue this fight forever. I think DE is our best option. Again it's never guarantee with any of the treatments but we will try. And I know it's not for everyone but we're good with it and she or he will be mine. I really hope your next IVF round will be successful! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
