Over 40 TTC - lots of baby dust for us...3!

Hi @rubyroot I've had 5 pregnancies - two miscarriages then one successful and another miscarriage last year. I'm now in the early stages of pregnancy 5. I'll be 42 this weekend (!)

I think part of it is a numbers game (I.e. Keep trying) but it's up to the individual how much they think they can put themselves through and this will be different for everyone. I met a lady around the same age as me who had 11 miscarriages before having her daughter. Personally I don't think I could do that, just not strong enough. Where you draw the line is really up to you and you'll know yourself the best. I've been doing 5 elements acupuncture, taking ubiquinol, folate (instead of folic acid) and also did fertility massage this last cycle as well as take a probiotic supplement for a few months beforehand. I think even the slightest thing might help but that's just me I'm a firm believer in trusting my body and that it is capable of carrying a pregnancy - whether I stop trying before it has a chance to prove me right is another thing and one (if I get to it) I will try my best not to beat myself up over.

I'm rambling now (!) but just to reiterate, it's such a personal decision and you'll know in your heart if you want to try again - listen to that voice xx

@Chatbash72 I’ve read quite a bit about egg quality etc and as far as I can see there’s not a lot you can do to change egg quality. I’m taking the usual dosage of folic acid- I’ve taken it upon myself to take two instead of one and that’s it

It only takes one egg, are you taking anything to improve egg quality?

Hi all. I have now had 4 pregnancies, one successful and one tfmr.

I’m now starting to think that my eggs are clearly the issue- indicated by my age.

Wondering whether to give up after my latest ‘cp’ or whether to keep going on in the hope of finding a good egg.

Any ladies experience of this?

Do you know if you had any internal adhesions after your c-section? I had an ultrasound last summer which showed some scar tissue so I was advised to have them treated before trying to conceive. I'm assuming though that you probably had plenty of ultrasounds as part of the ivf so they would have picked up on that.

Russkispy - how confusing! I hope they can find answers, but on the plus side - you likely have good eggs!

Hi @Russkispy - I can imagine that v hard news to get your head around. Chromosomal problems are the most common reason for miscarriage, but if they found none I'm not sure if that means they just can't test for them all, or if it means there definitely wasn't one?
Have you been tested for blood clotting issues? I hope your clinic gives you some more answers - I know I found it strangely reassuring to know that the miscarriage they were able to test was a trisomy as at least there was a reason and there was no reason why it would repeat... the not knowing why is so hard, x

@Russkipsy.....im feeling for you sweet.Be strong and positive you know you can do this and hopefully with ivf it will go to plan. Afm after not wanting af to come for the last few months I now want it to come more than ever! When it's late for no reason I worry that it won't return. I had a 46 cycle this time last year and felt evil!
I hate being in limbo!

@Chatbash72 absolutely! Just didn't expect this news! Thought it would be the same outcome as my frozen one with trisomy 18. Anyway, deep breaths, reflexology on Friday. And breath....

but try not to drive yourself too mad by it.. I know more frustrating because it's ivf... so you can have more answers, but keep the faith that it will happen next time.. keep that positivity flowing through you.. it's good for you mind which in turn will feed your body.. xxx

@Chatbash72 it wasn't aspirin but a similar pill for blood thinning. My head is spinning here trying to find answers and what to do next

@Kimm123 I would be at drs asking them to look into missing af, I think they are very dismissive of us as an age group.. preg, conception or menopause.. when actually we are the biggest age group having babies..

just heard from our hospital that our transferred embryo didn’t have any abnormalities! We will get full report in the next couple of days but the good news is that it didn’t have any chromosomal abnormalities! Of course my main question is why miscarriage happened? And last year too! Naturally I’m worried if I’ll miscarry with DE?! And now I’m thinking shall we try IVF with my eggs again? I’m now more confused than ever! And upset as my own embryo was ok and yet I miscarried. What would you do, ladies?! Have nobody else to ask. I contact my doc and yet to hear from her.

@Kimm123 I know from when I took Clomid the doc will tell you to take it on certain days, and the days I was told to take it were different from those of a friend who was also taking it, so no one here can really advise you as these fertility drugs and their doses are tailored for the individual - can you call your doctor and ask?x

I can’t help you sorry Kimm. You really need to be asking your gp which days to take it.

Booseys - I though palps were definitely a peri symptom?!

Im scared to take it cuz last time my period was mega heavy....lol and this was in january...

Anyone out there who can help me.....im scared to take mexydroprogesterone...prob spelt it wrong....
Am i right in saying take it for 10 days..how many days after taking this med to i havr a period????? Then day 2 to 6 take letrozole...but then we do we dtd...

@littlemimosa.. Thank you for the info. I just can't believe the gp (a woman) said the palps werent menopausal. A nurse said she thinks they're def linked to hormones. Everyone in the medical profession has a different opinion!

hmmm123.. can i join you? Although not yet late I'm having a strange cycle too. It's prob just AF round the corner but i feel nauseas, crampy and have v.swollen boobs. Good luck!
