Does anyone want to join?

I have been TTC #1 for 15 months and had a MC at 8 weeks in February.
I am off to the GP tomorrow to try and get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.
Tried every trick and tip and old wives tale in the book to get a bfp!
It would be good to have a group of longer term ttcers to chat to.

@starkid is having sore boobs a bad sign for you? Mine were a bit better yesterday but this morning they felt so sore and heavy like they were going to fall off.

starkid · 28/08/2019 17:03

@Broodyaf - how was the appointment?

Sore boobs have started, spoke too soon! :(

KatBeCool · 28/08/2019 00:39

@Broodyaf good luck tomorrow! I am guessing that while they'll still do day 3 bloods, they don't actually expect people to coincidentally show up on on day 3 for their initial consultation, which is probably why it's so short. Plus they'll explain all options, like medicated cycles, IUI, and ivf options. And if they say you'll have to wait for ivf, I'd certainly ask for a few medicated cycles before that.

Broodyaf · 28/08/2019 00:13

Yes @KatBeCool fingers crossed ur still in with a shot!

We defo need some BFPs on this thread!!

Thanks for replying @Mrs71
I guess I'll find out for myself tomoro

Mrs71 · 28/08/2019 00:10

@Broodyaf sorry I'm not sure as I've been been to any fertility appointments yet. Good luck for tomorrow and I hope it goes well for you. X

Mrs71 · 28/08/2019 00:08

@starkid & @KatBeCool fingers crossed for you both 🤞🏼🤞🏼 We need some BFP's on this thread!!

@FlapJackered hope it clears up soon. I find when I dtd too much it happens to me!! It's so painful and annoying.

Broodyaf · 27/08/2019 23:58

Hey all

I'm very nervous for this 1st consultation appt tomoro afternoon. I have a feeling it's just gonna be general medical history questions about me and my DF and go through tests we have had done so far and maybe suggest tests that they need to take at the next appt? I don't know

The woman who rang me to make the appt said it lasts 30mins so I can't see them taking any tests tomoro

starkid · 27/08/2019 21:23

@KatBeCool - Nah, I get up too many weird times for the loo so not consistent, plus annoyed my husband with the beeping/clattering of the thermometer! :P I get tempted by those bracelets every so often, then think 'oh but if i get pregnant this cycle it will be a waste', but then each cycle rolls around again and again...!

Fingers crossed your lack of symptoms is a sign, heard that many times on the other thread! :)

KatBeCool · 27/08/2019 20:59

@FlapJackered ok that sounds super whacky. Never heard of such witch craft. Hope it works! But consider a more known method of cranberry extract :)

@starkid you're just one dpo behind! Fingers crossed! Are you temping?

FlapJackered · 27/08/2019 20:45

@KatBeCool that's the fun thing about symptom spotting - everyone is different! 😂
Yes in pain and so sore when I pee. Not fun. My aunt has sent some whacky cure involving black coffee and bicarbonate of soda 😬

Thanks @starkid - 🤞🏻for you!

I'm 7dpo, due Sunday, and also usually have sore boobs for a whole week beforehand... no sore boobs yet Shock not holding my breath though!

@FlapJackered - Oh no! Hope clears soon xx

KatBeCool · 27/08/2019 20:00

@FlapJackered i immediately checked my boobs for veins. Not veiny. But I'm sure it's not common to everyone.
What makes you think you have cystitis? Are you in pain? I know Cranberry extract and D-mannose might be helpful if you can't see your GP any time soon.

FlapJackered · 27/08/2019 19:44

@KatBeCool the month I got pregnant I barely had any conventional symptoms, just really veiny boobs at 12dpo and spotting.
🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Gah! I think I have cystitis 👎🏻 not fun at all.

KatBeCool · 27/08/2019 18:39

How's everyone doing?

As much as I'm trying not to symptom spot, I really don't have any symptoms. Sore boobs don't count, that happens every month.

starkid · 25/08/2019 16:41

@PineappleC - glad to hear there's (possibly) no abnormalities seen in your scan xx

PineappleC · 25/08/2019 09:49

@Katbecool ah sorry, I didn't realise IUI was because you didn't qualify for IVF. That really sucks - you'd think they'd go based on whether you had a good chance rather than age! I really hope it's successful though, and not long now til you find out!?

@Broodyaf that's great news about your appt! Wishing you luck for weds and that you at least get an opinion as to what you might need to do 😊

@RosettaR Sorry youve been feeling a bit shitty. I was never offered an AMH test but would just say pls try not to worry (i know that's easier said than done!) about one result, there are so many options nowadays, and also blood test results seem to fluctuate quite a bit between months and cycle days.

I had my pelvic ultrasound this week - nurse said she's not allowed to comment officially but in her opinion all looks normal. I get the doctors official comments this week. In the meantime DH had another SA - no comment on morphology on this one, bit apparently "inconsistencies" with motility. Weird, because motility was at high end of normal last time. So a big difference in just a few weeks 🤷‍♀️

You guys have really highlighted to me the different in NHS services between postcodes. It seems so unfair that some of you have had to wait so long, and get less treatment options just because of where you live. I am not sure what mine is like yet, but i will not take anything for granted xx

Broodyaf · 24/08/2019 18:46

Yes I agree with you @KatBeCool about not using that Fertility Access company. They're just out to make money out of us a whether it be success or failure!

And like I said, I don't even know that I need IVF! U were diagnosed as unexplained am I right?
Maybe IUI would be suitable for me and it's only €850 (excluding drugs etc)

Oh it must be so so hard not to symptom spot!! Ur a good'n !

KatBeCool · 24/08/2019 18:10

@Broodyaf those prices are insane if drugs aren't even included. I think it's better to go through a regular non-refundable plan. If you get pregnant in one cycle - you overpay, if you need a fourth cycle - you overpay.

I'm trying not to symptom spot. I'm feeling little twinges but maybe it's from something else. Had acid reflux and heartburn last night, that almost never happens. Beta HCG is 3rd September. I tested on IC, the trigger shot second line is gone, so if I see one again, it'll be real.

Broodyaf · 24/08/2019 17:49

How r u feeling @KatBeCool?
Any symptoms? When is ur Beta HcG?

Broodyaf · 24/08/2019 17:47

And that doesn't include the drugs! But That's for people who want to buy into them packages with that company that the private fertility offers. So u pay that company, not the fertility clinic.
But if you just want to pay the clinic direct their price for 1 round of IVF is €4,400 (excluding drugs)
So that company charges a bomb in case they have to part-refund you, which I would imagine would be pretty damn hard to get out of them. Is says the refunds are subject to medical review!

I don't even know that I will need IVF yet, but I just have a feeling I'll be steered that way...

KatBeCool · 24/08/2019 17:37

@Broodyaf it's definitely not cheap, maybe consider going abroad? The refunds are nice but not reliable. Czech Republic is a third of those prices.

Broodyaf · 24/08/2019 16:38

And these are the prices...

@Broodyaf @KatBeCool - oh nice, well i'll hopefully get it next month then.

Sounds interesting, claiming money back for unsuccessful ivf

Broodyaf · 24/08/2019 15:50

Thanks ladies! Oh I drank a whole bottle of wine last nite to celebrate 🙈
Slightly lethargic today to say the least.

@starkid
Don't be panicking if you think u didn't have your AMH done... I didn't have mine done and I nicely demanded it in the GP. She said it wasn't 1 of the tests they do and that it's the 1st test that's done at the fertility clinic when u get ur 1st appt (consultation)
But I kinda pestered her lol
And she said well we'll chance our arm but no guarantee they'll do it.
So I played dumb, went to the treatment room and they took the blood for it and Rubella lol
Results should be back tues (cos of bank hol on Monday)

@KatBeCool by NHS appt on wed I'll be CD15 but I would imagine the results of the AMH would be quite a bite to go on without the FSH?! I'm just guessing here...

Got all the forms in the post today for the private consultation - a leaflet came through with prices for Access Fertility - have you all heard of this? It's for IVF/ICSI & it's dearer but depending on the "deal" u go for u can claim a certain amount back if you don't have a baby.
