Thinking of ttc but realistic about chances. Any positive stories?

If it doesn't happen naturally we will give up after a year but really would like to try

Anyone else done this and been successful?

Happy accident at 44. Sailed through the pregnancy but then bounced almost straight into the menopause.

Suspect key factors were that I was healthy, very fit, regular periods, not taking contraceptives (thought I was too old!), younger partner. Happened within 6 mths of starting relationship but critically not TTC so under no pressure.

Women have always had babies throughout their forties, admittedly normally not their first children, but there are no guarantees. Good luck.

My sister's running club acquaintance is having a baby at 47, naturally conceived I believe.

Moralitym1n1 · 30/04/2019 07:16

Both my school friends mum and our then neighbour conceived naturally at 45. As teenagers we were amazed/horrified they were still having sex. We presumed you stopped at 30.

Wow that’s amazing at 49! There’s still hope for me then!(47) It will however have to be ivf again for us, Praying for 5th time lucky!

I conceived at 42 accidently after a night on the gin. I conceived again at 44, this time planned, and I took ubiquinol and other multi vits. I got lucky after 3 months.

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 29/04/2019 18:44

First born at 39
Second at 41
Third at 42

All lovely surprises!

SuperNoodly · 29/04/2019 18:40

I have a good friend who conceived her only child at 42 (she conceived previously at 41 but had a miscarriage).

My grandmother had babies at 40, 42 & 44.

fourstepsforward · 29/04/2019 18:39

Yes, I conceived my second at 42.

Hadalifeonce · 29/04/2019 18:36

DS born at 42, DD at 44 both naturally also conceived in between, but miscarried.

Yika · 29/04/2019 18:33

Conceived my first and only very easily at 43 (first month of trying). Went on to have an easy pregnancy and birth too. Good luck.

ArkAtEe · 29/04/2019 18:10

My mum did, it was accidental though. But it probably helped that there was no stress of ttc, so take it easy and best of luck!

trestletable · 29/04/2019 18:03

Thanks for the positive stories

My mum had 3 of my siblings at 40, 44 and 48. All conceived naturally and no complications. I'm 39 and have a one year old conceived naturally, we weren't even trying.

spicypickle · 28/04/2019 09:26

@trestletable Hey my mum did once at 42 and again at 44 my siblings are 5 and 3 now x

Nat6999 · 28/04/2019 04:28

I did at 44, but sadly had a MC. New partner, had not used contraception for 3 years due to my fertility issues & was pregnant within 10 weeks of starting new relationship, but lost my baby at 16 weeks.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 28/04/2019 03:30

My mum with me. She was 44 when I was born.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/04/2019 03:26

My great grandmother conceived naturally at 49, so yes, it's very possible.

ClinkyMonkey · 28/04/2019 03:18

DS1 conceived when I was 40, born when I was 41.
Had an ectopic pregnancy at 42.
DS2 conceived when I was 44, born when I was 45.

So, yes, very possible indeed🙂

Raggerty54 · 28/04/2019 02:48

Good luck op! I know many who have conceived after 40!

midsummabreak · 28/04/2019 02:46

Fourth child at 40, and my sister had her first child at 42

DramaAlpaca · 28/04/2019 02:45

Not me, but several friends & relatives successfully chose to start their families in their early to mid 40s. Go for it, you've nothing to lose.

Littlebearcat · 28/04/2019 02:42

Yes first child at 41. I took pregnacare vitamins. Good luck op

RockinHippy · 28/04/2019 02:37

Conceived 1st & only naturally 3 weeks after coming off the pill at 41+

PetraRabbit · 27/04/2019 19:38

Conceived my nearly 2 year old when I was 41. Great pregnancy, perfect baby. Conceived again (within 1 month of TTC) and sadly had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. Took longer to conceive again (best part of a year) but am currently 8 weeks and very close to my 44th birthday. It's nerve-wracking when time is against you but one of the biggest reasons you don't hear much of pregnancy in early to mid 40s is that most women do not want to be pregnant at this age! Your chances are reasonable. But without time to waste if you're serious you need to start taking folic acid, vitamin D and Ubiquinol for egg quality, and spend as much on fertility accupuncture and fertility reflexology as you can afford. Good luck!
