@starkid @jessikka so glad you’re both talking about this! Just did my second OPK and was v confused as there was a faint line on yesterday’s (cd10) but really nothing there on today’s (cd11) - has bummed me out a bit. Good to know sometimes they do go blank and it’s not a dodgy one.

I always knew I had no patience but despite having a few nice things coming up I would happily fast forward the next few days to get to FW! Just want to feel like I’m doing something!

starkid · 08/05/2019 13:47

@Jessikka - That's good they're getting darker :)
To be fair, I have them where only the control line appear, I don't think it necessarily means it's defective if there's only 1 line.

Jessikka · 08/05/2019 13:29

Well, my day is improving.

Dodgy belly had passed meaning I can DTD tonight and my OPKs have started playing ball - maybe only some are dodgy! woohoo!

Also thought I would update you all on the at home fertility test from Forth With Life...well I tried to collect the blood but could get nowhere near enough via my finger despite having my husbands help in stabbing me and doing all the things it recommended. Have now got 3 rather sore pin pricks in my fingers and didn't manage to submit my test 😂🤦‍♀️. Also ended up being a very stressful start to a Tuesday morning especially as the whole process made me feel really light headed and sick to the point I had to lie down!! HOWEVER Forth with Life themselves have been sooo helpful and have been responding to my emails and have said I can upgrade to the at home blood test where someone takes it for you via a vein so all is not lost. I do have to wait until the beginning of next cycle though which is annoying. Also on a related note my husband did an at home fertility test that is apparently 93% accurate- anyone's husband done this or have any info about how accurate they are??

purplefig · 08/05/2019 12:08

Hey ladies!

I've been on and off this thread since last year. I hope you don't mind a part-timer like me rejoining? I feel like I use somewhere to vent!

I'm 28 and now on cycle 9. I never in a million years thought it would take this long! So naive. I got my period yesterday and had a big fat cry, then had a hot bath and nap on the sofa with the pets. Felt much better. Every time I get my period I think: I can't keep doing this. And then I realise: what's the alternative? So here's to another month.

Coincidentally,, it also was my first fertility acupuncture session yesterday evening. I didn't want to go, but it was actually amazing. It's so nice to speak with someone about the stress of TTC and it feels positive, like I'm doing something. Has anybody else tried acupuncture? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I really enjoyed the experience and like @Bettythecat , found it super relaxing. @starkid the needles are so tiny and honestly felt like nothing more than a slight pin prick. She also reassured me that in the grand scheme of things, 8 months is really not much at all and that it's very likely a result of stress (various life things going on).

So this month I'm going to start exercising again (the best way for me to process stress), stick with acupuncture and I'm also going to try temping for the firs time ever this month. I've ordered a thermometer and am going to download FF.

@Lozzlepop so sorry to hear about your MMC. That must be absolutely heartbreaking. I hope you're taking care of yourself and have some solid support around you.

Meenabeena · 08/05/2019 11:17

Hi everyone. Been away for a week and came back to find AF :( so it's back to TTC. Used ovulation sticks last month and I have 5 left from the pack. Honestly I can't be bothered anymore. I feel like I've read everything there is to read about the how and why. Now I just wanna pray and hope for the best :(

MrsEG · 08/05/2019 10:59

@Bettythecat Ha, my mind is the same! I’m being asked about a meeting in october and wondering how to get out of it as of COURSE I’ll be up the duff by then?! I’m 9DPO today, my right boob is really sore and I have a cold but that’s it! Not testing til Monday if AF doesnt show.

@Jessikka Oh bless you hope you feel better soon!

@LokiCat I know, I’m annoyed it’s annoyed me really as I know at 9DPO it means nothing really but I get so hopeful every morning to see my chart and it’s so shit to see it go down instead of up! FX it’ll start to climb tomorrow! Definitely try and leave early - I’ve done the same at work before! They must think I’m having some serious dental work done haha!!

LokiCat · 08/05/2019 09:45

Thanks @MrsEG @Dollywilde @Bettythecat - may have to try and escape early!! Hopefully DH is up for it, he's usually pretty grumpy before a night shift 😂 maybe some sexing will do him some good!

@MrsEG ah sorry it's got you down! Hopefully it doesn't mean much and you still get positive news. Got my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏽🤞🏽

@Dollywilde I've been doing that all week, especially as I've been so bloated because that was my first symptom last time. It's clearly just all the pasta I've eaten 🙈

@Jessikka my OPKs sometimes look like that. No wonder they're so cheap! If this isn't our cycle, I may switch to the digital ones.. The 'is it darker or not' malarkey is too stressful!
Sorry you're feeling sick! Fingers crossed you get better ready to start DTD!

Jessikka · 08/05/2019 09:33

It would probably help if I attached a picture whilst asking your advice wouldn't it 😫😂

Go back to sleep woman.

Hello Everyone 👋🏻

Congratulations to the BFPs further down the thread 💗 also so sorry to read that a few ladies are back with us. 💐

I'm having a bad week! First my batch of OPKs are bad and aren't detecting even the slightest bit of LH (usually there's a faint line) and they seem to be put together rubbish.
I can't remember if they usually look like this? They seem to be open at the bottom by the bit you dip?

Also I'm in my FW i think. I usually ovulate cd12/13 of a 25/26day cycle and that's tomorrow, but im sick and don't want to be jiggled around later 😂

Can we just fast forward this week please?

Bettythecat · 08/05/2019 09:17

@Dollywilde 😂😂😂 I know the feeling. I've been thinking the same even though I've literally just finished my period. TTC Sends us all mad!

@LokiCat looks positive to me too!!

@MrsEG probably yes but a bit hard to tell. Basically the project I am working on is either going to go ahead to a particular timeline or not. If it does then it will likely be manic but if it doesn't and I still go then it will be a lot more relaxed 🤷‍♀️. I am really cross with myself for not wanting to go as I know I should and should be pushing myself career wise too but my mind is elsewhere really now... 👶🏼. What CD are you now? Any symptoms? X

Dollywilde · 08/05/2019 09:03

*lower back.. ffs this phone hates me!

Dollywilde · 08/05/2019 09:03

@mirana love your description - so bloody true!

@lokicat only my first go with OPKs so I’m no expert, but looks positive to me Smile

I’ve officially gone mad - just caught myself symptom spotting (achey loser back). Then had to remind myself I haven’t even ovulated yet this cycle Blush 🙄😂

MrsEG · 08/05/2019 08:02

@LokiCat That was supposed to say last min ‘doctors appointment’ - stupid fat thumbs!

MrsEG · 08/05/2019 08:01

@Fivebyfive2 It could be the calm before the storm, I don’t think the sickness really kicks in until about 6-7 weeks! Really hope these next few weeks pass quickly for you to get you to the 12 week scan! Your booking in appt is on my birthday ha! It’s a very lucky day :)

@Bettythecat How annoying - I travel a lot with work and missed a full week / window in September last year. I was so irritated at the time but as you say it was actually nice to have a month off from it in the end! At least the pay off is a few days in NYC - would you get any downtime while there?

@dahlia123 I honestly don’t know - I don’t really get much EWCM (I’m heavily reliant on Preseed!!) but I think once you notice it, it’s time to get to it. FX for you and you’ve done all you can! Re: being open with your acupuncture lady - I feel the same with the counsellor I see, she had a MC too so it feels so nice to open up to her. I know that’s kinda her job... but it’s lovely! Such a weight off my shoulders afterwards.

@Mirana Ha! The movie montage thing is SO true!! I’m at 9DPO today so still far too early to test, yet still 5 solid days away from d-day. Time never moves quite so slow!!

@LokiCat I am absolutely hopeless with normal OPKs but I’d say that looks pretty positive! Could you try and leave work a bit early - book in a last min ‘doctors

Feeling a little disheartened this morning - my temps are heading in the wrong direction on my Ava at 9DPO. It’s not massive drops by any means but I think I’d be happier if they were heading the other way! Oh well, nothing I can do about it other than keep my 🤞🏻

LokiCat · 08/05/2019 07:03

Morning and welcome to the new ladies!

I haven't had a chance to catch up with the thread, sorry. Just wanted to ask whether you ladies think this is a positive OPK from this morning? Glow seems to say yes and I'll be ovulating tomorrow..
Last two days I've tested with fmu and it seems that's when I get my surge.. (the second photo is a comparison from yesterday morning and evening).

If so, I'll have to catch DH when I get back from work and before he leaves for his night shift.. so we'll have 30 minutes providing the trains behave 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Mirana · 08/05/2019 03:32

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

@MrsEG Kind of. We've been "long distance" since we met, although we've spent probably 75% of the time together. It's not the ideal time to try, "The Plan" was to start trying next summer, however our specialist really drummed in that time is of the essence and we can't really wait. Also my area would offer us IVF, his wouldn't, so we're trying to figure things out whilst in limbo. Super fun and definitely not stressful at all Grin Grin Grin The blessing of fairly regular cycles means that we can plan a month in advance when we'll see each other so fingers crossed. Unless I have a freak ovulation or just don't ovulate again, it's a fertility lottery right now lol.

Woken up and now can't get back to sleep. I'm only 3DPO now so in the utterly boring bit where nothing will start happening for another week. I hate this part of the 2WW??? I feel like at least when anticipating ovulation you're testing, charting, preparing. Around ovulation you get to dtd loads. 10DPO+ you get to start testing and symptom spotting. But what the hell are these 10 days between?? If life was a movie, these 10 days would be a quick 5 second scene transition with some kind of background jazz music.

dahlia123 · 07/05/2019 23:03

Hi @Lozzlepop - hoping there's a BFP not far off for you.

@PinkFizz19 - sorry to hear about your MC. Fingers crossed for you that your cycles settle quickly.

Hello @PippaPug @Hopefulmum2be @Mirana

Good luck to everyone, no matter which stick they are peeing on!

Re acupuncture - I'm having it and I do find it relaxing. It may also be due to being able to chat to someone impartial openly about fertility and fears -I feel i can be honest in a different way with the practitioner than with anyone in my life.

Having a timing issue around O too @Bettythecat

A question for all you ladies - I'm currently away from my partner until Sunday morning but due to ovulate in a couple of days (was hoping I'd be a bit delayed).
This morning (Tuesday) we DTD and I noticed EWCM in my pants this afternoon and evening (first time this cycle). I'd like to think we're still in with a chance this month but perhaps the action was too early, and we'll have missed the window by Sunday.
Anyone have any idea about how long it takes EWCM to get 'made' and then appear in pants?
(I'm adding that to a growing list of 'things I'd never have thought of before TTC')

Bettythecat · 07/05/2019 21:53

@orangeloo yes I'm trying to see it that way and just look forward to not having the dreaded TWW. I'm not pushing to go to NYC and so sort of leaving it to chance really! We might still hit ovulation day even if I go as I don't ovulate at the same time every month (obviously!) so let's see! 😊

orangeloo · 07/05/2019 21:50

@Bettythecat I had that in March we missed the whole fertile window due to working abroad at first I was very annoyed but then it was actually so nice to have a break from ttc but that depends how long you've been trying I guess. Just dtd whenever you can either side and what will be will be. I also don't OPK that month as I didn't want to add to disappointment if missing it.

Anyone heard any good things about reflexology for ttc?

Bettythecat · 07/05/2019 19:22

@Fivebyfive2 oh that's good- a reassuring level of symptoms but nothing too awful just yet! Totally agree on the scan front- I'll probably change my mind again when it happens for me- I think you've just got to go with what feels right for you at the time don't you 😊. I'm sure all will go perfectly with you this time round though 💜

Fivebyfive2 · 07/05/2019 19:08

@MrsEG, @bettythecat, I've had some queasy feelings, but no sickness, although that come later! Had my first 'taste' of that metalic/blood type taste in the mouth earlier, yuck!! Other than that all is OK. I'm on the boots pregnancy plus vitamins with the omega 3 capsule and have got the hang of taking them now, thankfully! It's definitely more real now! But I'm doing much better this time of distracting myself, so it's not constantly on my mind! @bettythecat, for me the early scan option just doesn't feel like it will really help, but that's just me, like @MrsEG says, it's so personal. I've surprised myself with the decision to be honest! Xx

Bettythecat · 07/05/2019 18:40

@Fivebyfive2 i think next time I'm pg I'll go for an early scan but will make sure they don't show me the screen- the yawning great black hole where a baby should have been is a sight I'll never forget! Have you had any symptoms yet? I know we were in a similar boat with them last time...

@orangeloo i know the feeling...I might have to go to New York with work Sunday until the following Saturday which will be CD 12-16 and DH is away this weekend on a stag so I am desperately hoping it gets cancelled. I should be wanting to go for my career but all I want to do is be at home so I don't miss my window!!

orangeloo · 07/05/2019 18:25

Hi ladies and welcome all the newbies.

I'm CD AF starting to trail off. I have bought seven seas trying for a baby - prev just taken Folic acid and vit d but they were on offer and willing to try anything now. I'm cycle 5 (6 including a non OPK month). Trying to get OH to go docs this month to ask for Sperm analysis but easier said than done. My GP said it's worth going for him due to family history and childhood illness. Anyone else almost dread the fertile week coming? I get nervous at the pressure to DTD at the right time.

Hope you all had a good weekend and first day back not too bad.

MrsEG · 07/05/2019 18:24

@Marleym28 It’s so difficult getting all the timings right with DTD some cycles. I’ll keep my FX for you this week anyway - you’re not out til AF shows x
