Help me! Am I pregnant again after D&C?

Hello,

I had a D&C following a miscarriage in March. I have been so low about it all thinking I could never conceive again etc.
Three weeks after the D&C I had negative pregnancy tests (though I didn’t ever have any blood tests).

We started trying again immediately after I stopped bleeding and I had two days peak fertility with Digital OPK on 6th & 7th April (flashing on 5th)

I have not had a period yet. I thought i might be due this weekend, but understand things can be thrown off for a few cycles after the miscarriage.

Anyway. I ordered some sensitive tests from Amazon, just to have in stock, but as I am a glutton for punishment and I thought I’d just do a quick one now. Got this “line” is it a Line?! Or is it my hormones messed up from D&C? Please help I am shaking!

So sorry to hear everything you have been through, losing a baby is the most awful thing. If it's an conciliation I think you can't give up hope yet. I had a d&c last May, periods were all over the place for a while got pregnant again in December and was spotting and lost that baby too, but then in February although I had some brown spotting again I am just over 11 weeks pregnant and I had a scan today and all is well. The brown spotting could just be some old blood left over from the d&c so please try not to worry too much and I hope it works out for you xx

Don't give up hope. I lost a pregnancy (twins at 9 weeks) I had to have a d + c and got pregnant a month after. I took test and there was a line! I too was thinking it must be left over hormones, the gp said I wasn't pregnant and it was left over hormones. I was told to wait

I started to get quite bad pain so knew something was up, was sent to a and e and given tests. They confirmed it looked like I was pregnant but pain possibly indicated an ectopic. Had a scan a few days later. I had extremely high hormones (hcg more than doubling) but nothing could be seen in scan. We all thought it was ectopic. Assumed pregnancy was in the tube.

Went back for another scan and it was twins again! They are sleeping in cots next to me as I type. Apparently very common after a d+c.

I hope things work out for you. It's a tough time. I'll never forget my loss and the operation and all the sadness it brings. It is such a challenging time

Ideally they will do a repeat blood test to see how your HCG levels are rising.

Hope you feel better soon & that everything works out for you.

VenusStarr · 18/04/2019 21:28

Have you got a follow up for your bloods planned? Hope you can get some rest x

I hope everything works out for you. Flowers

I've posted this link loads of times about hcg levels. It shows huge variance in levels between people.

Thanks for all your good wishes.

So the doctor did some blood tests which showed HCG 96 and Progesterone 37.

I’m afraid that doesn’t mean too much to me, but I told him I had very bad cramps and backache with some brown bleeding. He said it was now just a waiting game.

I’ve been lying in bed most of the afternoon and am running a bit of a temperature. Just can’t bear it all!

Thank you Venus and Russell. I am on my way to the consultant I saw for D&C last time. I have cramps. I just have a horrible feeling this is another loss for me...

Giving you a handhold @Marmitepeanutbutterandhoney, do you have cramps as well? Take some time to look after yourself. Keeping my fingers crossed that this will have a good outcome for you xx ❤️

Russell19 · 18/04/2019 09:10

Oh OP, I really feel for you. Now is the time to ring EPU maybe? Think you'd be too early for a scan but they can do bloods?? Could it be old blood? People do have bleeds and everything turns out ok....fingers crossed for you xx

Marmitepeanutbutterandhoney · 18/04/2019 09:03

I don’t think it is good news. I’m spotting this morning. I feel devastated Sad

I was told the same thing after a mc, but I think it's a standard line so we don't get our hopes up. I was exhausted from the process so I just went for blood tests and said 'fine, whatever you say'. They got back to me a fortnight later to say I was probably about 20 weeks gone, by the hormone levels they saw.

VenusStarr · 17/04/2019 17:17

Thank you @Marmitepeanutbutterandhoney really hope this has good news for you 🍀

You can’t do anything, except take good care of yourself physically and mentally.
Be kind to yourself, it’s a long journey.
Oh, and congratulations!!

FirstTimeMama91 · 17/04/2019 14:30

@Marmitepeanutbutterandhoney congratulations to you!! I haven't a clue when you're due date would be sorry I'm not much help lol.
When did you MC if you don't mind me asking? I started had MC 2 weeks ago on Friday. I did a few OPKs this week but they were very strong. Today's was a darker line. Going to dtd every day this week I think lol. We conceived 1st cycle and I lay with legs up after baby dance lol dunno if that helped but I'll be doing it every time from now on!
Good luck to everyone! I can't wait to get a bfpThanksThanksThanks

ABC1234DEF · 17/04/2019 11:06

Due date would be around 38 weeks from ovulation (working on the assumption of a 28 day cycle) although due date will change at a 12 week scan anyway

Hope everything goes well this time round for you, you must be in knots

Marmitepeanutbutterandhoney · 17/04/2019 10:50

Venus - I forgot to say, sorry for your loss. It really is horrible. Flowers

Thank you so much for your thoughts everyone.

Can anyone help me work out exactly how far along I am, or is that impossible given the circumstances?

Obviously I don’t know my last period date, as I was pregnant last month. The one before was 7th February.

All I know is that the OPK said peak on 7th April, but obviously don’t know if that is exactly when I ovulated. Not sure that even helps?

The first response is clear as day! I know it's easier said than done but try not to panic xx

Congratulations!! Xxx

VenusStarr · 17/04/2019 10:32

I wouldn't do any more tests now. That frer is very positive.

Without meaning to be negative, my recent experience of testing gave reassurance when it shouldn't have (missed miscarriage). So I'd see if the GP will refer you to epu for a scan when you're 7-8 weeks. Good luck 🍀
