I had a quick scan down the list but couldn't see who'd asked sorry toomuch I have got some ironing to do in a bit so might well end up watching tv then

Smug moment - I have got a week's worth of holiday packing into one of those weekend mini suitcases! Am refusing to take anything that is non-essential. (But have got 5 books!)

Fi - it was me asking about qualificaitons as I'm trying to decide what my second career post baby will be..

Nomore - happy tidying! You're very good - I'd be watching daytime telly if I was at home..

nomoremagnolia · 26/07/2007 14:05

ok fi I'm sorry for mentioning a bug. Don't think I could afford one anyway as even 2nd hand they're £££. (but you can pick up a loola for about 1/2 RRP or even less on ebay, so that's probably where I'll be going!) Re slings, I just thought it made sense to have your hands free if you had the sort of baby that wants to be carried rather than in a pram?

It wasn't actually me asking about qualifications, but I'm sure whoever it was (I can't rememnber either) won't mind!

Packing for my hols at the mo and also trying to tidy house as we've got friends coming to stay in it while we're away. They'll be sleeping in our room too so I can't even hide stuff in there! I could do with Hermione's beaded bag right now! (topical reference for any of you who've read HP7)

We had a baby bjorn sling for ds, and I found that even with that - which was very comfortable and meant that you were evenly balanced and not all the weight was on one shoulder etc, that I couldn't really carry him beyond about 4 months if I was going any distance - just too heavy. So it was back to the buggy which was a dream to push then. Now, its a bit more effort trying to get ds (tired after probably 2.5miles) up the hill back to the car.

BB - laptop - can sympathise. I ended up carrying laptop in simple slip-in case that only carried laptop, and having another case with any papers etc on the other shoulder. Less convenient, but only way to avoid the osteopath.

Fi - dog leads on buggy. We swore that we would never do this, our dog having been tied to a chair outside local shop (where she'd been tied before) while I went in to get a loaf. Part way through transaction heard a noise, looked round, dog on the otherside of busy main road (luckily, traffic stopped) with chair in pursuit, crossed another road (traffic stopped due to red light, but chair damaged car on way past), back over main road (still very slow due to initial shock), up towards our road, crossing another road, down our road.... Luckily for me, someone in a car saw what happened and followed her in a car, then, when she ran up a driveway (having passed ours a long way back), drove in to block it and catch her. (Dog shaken up but OK) We have been true to this and have never tied her to the buggy even when ds not in it. Problem is now that he wants to hold her lead and I'm not allowed to hold it or add a 2nd lead. Luckily dog quite well behaved and I can control her fairly well without use of lead, but insist that ds holding my hand if he's going to hold her lead, just in case!

Yes, it is a bit quiet here isn't it. I wonder where everyone has got to. I suppose that some lucky people may be on holiday of course.

BabyBratt · 25/07/2007 22:04

My DH thinks I am mad as I am sat her giggling at you Fi.

I take your advice, I have a bad back anyway from carrying my lap top I used to travel alot with my job and spent alot of time carrying laptops and files on and off planes.

It is really quiet in here lately.

fifilou · 25/07/2007 21:30

and bb yes- im watching big bro but having a break from it tonight xx

fifilou · 25/07/2007 21:29

richgt- thats it- you ladies are far too naughty. bugaboos- no
slings- no

right then, bugaboos are NOT practical and very expensive.

slings- so you spend 9 months carrying baby, get back ache, then strap baby to you again? derrrrrr! Bad backs, dangerous, silly.

nannyfi has spoken

(but of course its your desision!)

BabyBratt · 25/07/2007 21:27

Hello Ladies

I am sorry but is anyone watching Big Brother!!! how bad is Chanelle I've never seen anyone paddy like she does!!!!!!!!!!

I am on a buying trip in a couple of weeks to buy 30 wedding dresses, that is the positive side to my job.

A bride had her baby girl with her this morning and all her and my BP could talk about was being pregnant. The brides baby was a mistake (but a happy one!). Can I have a mistake like that as well.

I see those material slings all over Sheffield they do look really cute.

oh my god! i wrote mummy insterad of money.........babies on the brain syndrome?

fifilou · 25/07/2007 21:11

Hi ladies!

Just finished my packing for my daisies and im so excited!

I have a terrible back ache and am very tired, dh convinced im pg but i think its the 4 hours of swimming this week and long hours!

Nomore- my NNEB took 2 years, and my other courses were six month short courses. Im also in the middle of a degree in childhood and youth studies (its 6 years, and i just finished yr 3 and am awaiting my results!)

Working with children is completely knackering both physically and mentally but it is eqally rewarding and the best career choice i ever made!

Now then- as a proffesional buggy-know-it-all (ive driven the worst and the best) I must tell you all not to waste mummy on a bugaboo, they are useless....honestly!

My bosses just gave theirs away to one of my bf's because 1. they are generous and 2. i wouldnt want it!

I would recomend a maclaren and use a waste band walker to walk your dog ( i have one) you shouldnt ever tie a dog to a pushchair, even if its well behaved. Ive seen some awful accidents happen because of this.

ok lecture over..........any news?

Whtas this about treenie and a name change then?

is she hiding from us?

nomoremagnolia · 25/07/2007 19:08

Saw a lady today with a baby in a sling (just a piece of fabric tied round her) and she looked fab, so I think I might investigate that as an option. It looked really secure and the baby (about 6 months?) looked very happy in it too.
As for the bugaboo - what I like about it is that it faces either way, having your baby face you is good for their development as you can chat to them and they can see you. I also like that it is very manouverable (sp?) and that it comes with the carrycot for newborn. The other pushchair I really like which does all of the above is the loola. For two I love the Phil and Teds - I remember the first time I saw one and was really impressed, even though I wasn't remotely broody at the time. Think I was impressed by the concept and design more than anything!

Morning girlies!! I leave you alone one weekend and you all desert me

toomuchtimeonline · 24/07/2007 22:48

I was watching too she was orange!! And the poor girls who weren't eating!! Scary..

BabyBratt · 24/07/2007 22:19

I've not found her maybe she is trying to go cold turkey from MN.

I am watching some random programme on ITV1 with young girls who are obsessed with their looks etc. It is so very sad. Its called too much too young. There is a 15 year old girl who is obsessed with sunbeds and looking good. Does she not realise it makes your skin age???

toomuchtimeonline · 24/07/2007 21:31

Evening BB - no positive yet but I'm only cd11 and didn't get one till cd 15 last month. How about you? I'm sure one day misse will be ok - some people suggest every other day anyway to build up sperm. Sorry to hear you're down! It's hard hearing other peoples good news but you'll be in her position soon and you'll be able to fully enjoy it so try not to let it get you down! (Hugs)

P - you can buy cheep opks from accessiagnostics so that you can test for 2 weeks for about a tenner - give them a go if your periods are all over the plave.

Did anyone find Treenie?

BabyBratt · 24/07/2007 21:09

Hi Pixie I have been TTC for a while now and for the past 3 months I have been using the OPK's it is sad but quite exciting when you get a positive. But you generally only get 5 sticks so if your cycle is all over the place you might have to buy alot of sticks. Not sure how much you know but you ovulate on average 14 days before your AF.

Toomuch I am feeling better but I missed a valueable days bding. I am sure one day wont make a difference. Have you had a +ive OPK yet?

My business partner text me a picture of her 12 week scan, she has such a charmed life and gets everything she wants very easily. I just kept looking at the picture wishing it was my scan and thinking how amazing it must be.
To top it all off I am getting a cold sore which always happens when I am run down. For tonight I am going to be fed up but tomorrow I will be fine.

OOOhhhh I hope that is treenie's new name I am going to go a hunting for that name and ask her.

poppy75 · 24/07/2007 20:42

Hi Pixie04 - have used them inthe past but never got a positive, so started worrying and spoke to GP. Had blood tests which showed was ovulating with high levels so I must have used them incorrectly. Lots of other people seem to use them and it seems to help with learning about your cycle.

pixie04 · 24/07/2007 17:08

Hello Everyone!

I was wondering if any of you use ovulation tests and are they worth it? my cycles been all over the place for the past few months since I came off the pill but I don't want to scare DP off as its taking a bit of talking round to TTC.

toomuchtimeonline · 24/07/2007 15:40
