Just wondering if anyone here was in the same boat?

About to start TTC our first child together, we are late 30's and both have children from our previous marriages.

Congratulations!! That's great news - hope you have a very happy and healthy 9 months!

I tested on Sunday (9/10 dpo) and Monday and it was a negative so assuming I'm out this month and I haven't bothered testing today. I've had a bit of spotting so thinking AF will be here today and once it does I'll order some more preconception vitamins and OPKs - I just want to be sure a new cycle has started before I spend the money!

One good thing is I have at least a 12 day luteal phase which is better than the 9/10 days I had when TTC DS. Oh and I was thinking I might end up having to do a work trip to India which I was a bit worried about potentially doing while pregnant but it looks like we won't go now so that's a bit of a relief.

tisonlymeagain · 28/05/2019 10:53

Thought I'd come back to say that on Sunday I got my BFP on a FRER at 10dpo! Lines have got progressively darker. Safe to say we are over the moon but also a little shocked!

Have you tested yet @Starlight39?

Ha @Starlight39 yes I'm planning to test on Sunday and my DP won't be here either!

Hi everyone. Hope things are good with you @tisonlymeagain? Everything crossed for you this month! Glad your DP wasn't in pain and you were both able to soldier on. Yes, I think we're roughly at the same point.

I'm 6DPO today, not really having any particular symptoms. I'm knackered but I think that's just lack of sleep rather than anything significant!! DP is working away until Friday evening then also working Sunday so I think I'm going to test Sunday morning. I asked him if I find out I'm pg while he's working away did he want me to tell him over the phone. He said he'd rather know in person so we can at least have a hug about it! I don't really want to know and then have to keep it to myself so I'm going to attempt to restrict testing to when he's home.

tisonlymeagain · 19/05/2019 20:10

Hi @Starlight39 - we've just ignored it and carried on. He wasn't really in any pain so it didn't stop anything. Now 4dpo confirmed this month by OPKs and by charting my temperature. It came about 2 days earlier than last cycle but so glad that it did, as only been off the pill since March and so far seemed to have slipped into a good regular pattern. Will hold off testing as long as possible but I know I'll cave by mid-week. Only on cycle 2 and already starting to feel like it will never happen.

Sounds like we're roughly on the same track this month!

Sorry, @tisonlymeagain, I only just saw this!

That’s a pain on your DP’s UTI, hope he’s ok. Have you ov’d now? Hope it all worked out ok. And fingers crossed you’ll be pregnant in a few months time and won’t have to worry about what the antibiotics have done! I didn’t realise they affected sperm.

I ovulated on cd16, 2 days ago (handily my cycle days have coincided with the actual date this month!). Its strange as when I was TTC before with ex, I ov’d cd19-21 with only a 10 day luteal phase. I’m not sure if it’s taking vit b6 or the fact I’ve been off the pill for a few years this time (I had a copper coil). Anyway, timing was great and I got a nice strong opk and have had a decent temperature rise since. DP has some work on near home so it has worked out really well. Dp says he will get some baggier boxers if I’m not pregnant this month! Im not sure whether to get him some supplements or not to worry 🤔.

I read that saliva is bad for sperm so we have been avoiding oral sex over ovulation. Does anyone else avoid or is it silly to worry??

tisonlymeagain · 10/05/2019 11:14

How are you all doing ladies? Any news?

My AF arrived at 13dpo (could have OV'd earlier I guess) which was so disappointing. I had a cry and a wallow but picked myself up. Now we have a small spanner in the works here as DP has a bit of a UTI problem and now on antibiotics but still pushing forward. Bit stressful as the information means his swimmers might not be making out properly and then in a few months there's the risk the antibiotics will affect the sperm count and motility, but not mich we can do. CD9 and 7 days to OV for me, and I've started peeing on OPKs. There was line yesterday which surprised me as not a hint showed up until CD13 last cycle, so will keep up testing as don't want to miss it!

That's good that you gave it a good shot and feel positive about that and that it is a reasonable cycle after the pill. I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed for you! Do you have a date in mind for testing?

I'm not feeling too bothered about testing just now so I'm hoping that relaxed feeling lasts. I probably will end up testing at some point before AF - last month I took a million tests and was manically symptom spotting!

tisonlymeagain · 24/04/2019 12:51

Hi @Starlight39 - good to hear from you. Will you test before AF is due?

According to OPKs and Glow app, I ovulated on Friday, CD16 so I am 5dpo today and this 2WW is dragging! Not feeling positive that it will happen first try and am symptom-spotting like a maniac. We DTD a lot in the run-up and afterwards so felt like we gave it the best shot and I am looking for the positive that if AF does come (around 3rd May) then at least it was a decent cycle after coming off the pill in March.

How is everyone doing?

I think I worked out I actually must have ovulated on day 14/15 which is weird since previously (when last TTC 8 years ago) it was day 19/20! Anyway, that makes me 7 days ish post ov. It also means timing wasn't ideal (I think we DTD 2 days before ov) as DP was working away. Still, we're in with a chance and it does mean I'll be readier for it next month so I'm feeling pretty positive.

tisonlymeagain · 18/04/2019 08:59

That's pretty much what we've been doing, my app says I should OV tomorrow, so will have sex today but we've done it three days this week already!

Starlight39 · 18/04/2019 08:36

@tisonlymeagain good luck 😁😁!!

My opk yesterday was more pale so not sure why! Temp was a bit higher this morning but possibly because DS was in bed with me after a bad dream. So confusing but I’m trying not to worry, dp is back today so we will just have sex every day and hope for the best.

tisonlymeagain · 18/04/2019 07:56

My ClearBlue OPK has a solid smiley this morning Shock which means it's on!

OP posts:
tisonlymeagain · 17/04/2019 13:58

Sorry to hear that @alphabetti, but hoping for some good news for you very soon.

@Starlight39 Today's was a bit darker, the ClearBlue was negative but the basic OPK strip was a bit darker than it was yesterday afternoon, so fingers crossed things are going in the right direction!

OP posts:
Starlight39 · 17/04/2019 10:32

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, @alphabetti. Good luck! That sounds tricky with partner's ex. I think my ex might be a bit awkward but hopefully he'll surprise me!

@tisonlymeagain ah, that's a bit confusing! I think the luteneizing (sp?!) hormone that the OPK tests for peaks in the afternoons so that might be why the difference. Or less concentrated wee??! I tend to test just once a day at the same time so there's a direct comparison. I am also temping this month just to double check that I have ovulated as with OPKs, you can gear up to ov, giving a positive test but at the last minute your body decides not to and tries again a couple of days later. Or you can miss the surge and think you haven't when you actually have.

alphabetti · 16/04/2019 21:11

Myself and my partner are TTC. I have a DD and DS and my partner a DS. I’m 35 so feel the pressure of my age - there will be a big age gap as mine are 15 and 12yrs and my partners DS is 5. Started trying in August and conceived straight away but had an early miscarriage at 6wks. Starting to feel bit frustrated now but guess need to stay patient.

My children’s father is out of the picture (he hasn’t even seen them for 5yrs) so he won’t be an issue. Partners ex is not likely to take the news very well as she seems to have issues with everything but hopefully she will think it is a positive that her DS will have a sibling.

tisonlymeagain · 16/04/2019 20:22

Hmmm I just did another and got a much lighter one, questionable if there's even a line (see TTC after Cerazette thread, can't add any more pics£ now I'm not sure at all. Hopefully will start seeing some progress over the next few days

OP posts:
Starlight39 · 16/04/2019 18:08

@tisonlymeagain, I'd say that is your body gearing up for ovulation but will be a few days yet (that's based on me anyway!). Hope tomorrow's is a little darker for you.

My OPK yesterday was similar and I tend to get darker and darker test lines till one that is as dark as the control line (or part of it is as dark - sometimes the test line has a skinny dark strip and the rest of the line is paler).

tisonlymeagain · 16/04/2019 15:42

No @Starlight39 because I've been on the pill for a year but cycles prior to that were 28-35 days. However just done an OPK and this has come up. Doesn't mean I'm ovulating yet but I think it should mean that somethings happening?? I don't really know! Switching to the ClearBlue Digital ones tomorrow

Hi! Good luck @tisonlymeagain, hope the OPKs pick up ov soon! Do you know when you normally ovulate?

I'm CD14 today and normally ovulate CD19 which is Easter Sunday. My DS is with his Dad this weekend so plenty of opportunities for sex!

I went away with DS and DP over weekend and came back yesterday but he's now working away till Thursday evening then he's home so hopefully we should be covered as long as I don't ovulate earlier than usual. I'm doing OPKs (looks to be gearing up as I had a faint line yesterday) and temping.

tisonlymeagain · 16/04/2019 11:53

How are we all doing ladies? I am CD13 today and waiting to ovulate, no idea when but testing with OPKs daily and nada, not even a hint so far!

Hi @MissBridgetJones and welcome!

Yes @Starlight39 I am trying to remain positive as much as possible. We’ve decided to just give it until Xmas, if it’s meant to be it will be. I don’t want to drive myself crazy for years.

OP posts:
Starlight39 · 09/04/2019 15:08

@Mikeyjayne2018 glad it feels a little better as time passes. Yes, so true that the kids will be able to escape to their Dad's for some peace!

Hi @tisonlymeagain and fellow 39-er! I also have the anxiety a bit about how long it'll take. It's the 2 week wait that stresses me out most.

My DP works away a bit during the week so he may have to make a few emergency trips home which is also adds to the worry as it means a bit more work predicting ovulation etc.

Fingers crossed it'll happen really quickly for all of us and maybe we can all try and stay positive together.

MissBridgetJones · 09/04/2019 15:03

Please can I join too? We have been TTC for yonks, DP has 2 DC, I don't have any - his ex will not take it well I fear... his DD is keen, his DS couldn't care less Wink

Mikeyjayne2018 · 09/04/2019 14:17

@tisonlymeagain how lovely thank you. Wishing you so much luck too, I feel the same too about feeling like a may have a wait on my hands.
