Is it me or does number 2 seem to take longer to conceive?

Glad to hear you’ve got your scan date. You may well have had it all along. If an anecdote helps, my DDs godmother has high testosterone. It took her a year to get her DD1, she had to go on a very strict diet (in her case, more fat as her body fat levels were low) and she was ruthless with herself in terms of cutting out caffeine, alcohol etc and making sure she took time to herself to relax. She has just had twin boys and is delighted with her family of 3. It was tough for her, and it took longer than she’d hoped, but in her case it did all work out, and o hope very much it will for you too. Hopefully the scan will give you more information.

I know it gets addictive, I’m so glad my DH was out this morning so he didn’t see I’d got a parcel Blush. OPKs and a pregnancy test hidden behind the tins in the kitchen cupboard! Oh well, I made it to six months before caving!

Not quite sure where my fertile week will be this month. AF has been a bit all over the place this cycle. Late and light this month, spotting from 30th onwards, but I think not proper day 1 till the 3rd and it’s been very stop and start and heavy. That’s why I caved on the OPKs. Monday is either cd6 or cd10 depending on how I count it, so I’ll start testing then and wait and see.

Explorers10 · 06/04/2019 11:30

@crazychemist

Ive got my letter for scan on 7th may so not long to wait. I’m starting to feel more positive as clearly something worked the 1st time I got pregnant and I can’t see how things have changed massively since then. Maybe I have had this condition all along and not known about it. Seems a lot of people have got pregnant with pcos that’s if I have it so going to try and relax again and try next month plus cut out the carbs and exercise and try proceive vitamins. AF due on Thursday so got to wait another 3 weeks til fertile week.

Now you got the opks, you won’t go back to not testing as it gets addictive. I started using them 2nd cycle so you had more willpower than me! When is your fertile week?

How’s everyone doing this weekend? Hopefully you’re busy @Sassenach84 Grin. How are you getting on @Chipsfordinneragain? Feeling well?

I have caved and bought OPKs. I’d promised myself I wouldn’t do that till next month, and it seems particularly bonkers as several of you have had results that don’t make sense it seems Confused. Maybe it’ll help. I don’t feel like this’ll be my month, but maybe May will be lucky.

@Explorers10, any update on your situation? I hope your doctor is being helpful.

Chips4dinneragain · 03/04/2019 19:49

Totally explorers! Although probably wasn't noticeable as I'm generally a bit of a sleep deprived mess anyway.

Chips4dinneragain · 03/04/2019 19:48

Hmmm not sure about ovulating twice. That's interesting about your scan dates and OPKs, definitely questioning their value now!

Fingers crossed for a lucky cycle for you.

Explorers10 · 03/04/2019 19:47

@chipsfordinner bet you couldn’t concentrate at work!!!

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, when I conceived DD and had an early ultrasound where they measured the size and gave due date, the due date was about 4-5 days earlier than I had expected. I was told that ultrasound measurements are very accurate at that early on. But based on the OPK results at the time I had ovulated 4 days after the date on which conception supposedly happened...

sassenach84 · 03/04/2019 19:17

Wow that really is confusing but really intriguing at the same time. If you got a positive test on CD16 then conception must have happened on CD8 at the earliest, right? Because the test wouldn't pick it up otherwise.

Could you have ovulated twice? First when you were successful at conception and then again following the OPK results. Does that sort of thing happen?

None of it really matters as you got the best result possible but it's super interesting anyway Smile

Supposed to be entering my FW today. No sign of EWM but I'm not gonna wait for it now that all bets are off!

Chips4dinneragain · 03/04/2019 18:12

Well I DTD on CD6 and CD8, then not again until CD 12+13+14. If I got a positive pregnancy test on CD 16 (admittedly in the pm after a day at work where I didn't have a single drink) then I reckon the absolute latest I could have OVd would be CD10.

So that really begs the question how I got positive OPKs on CD12 and CD13? It would have been too early for it to detect hgc, but I guess my LH surge could have spanned CD10-CD13 and ovulated before my peak? I have read research that the average surge lasts 5 days, so I wonder if it is possible to ovulate at the start of the surge before it peaks (which might not show as a positive OPK)? makes me realise why Drs say don't rely on them!

sassenach84 · 03/04/2019 17:50

@Chips4dinneragain absolutely amazeballs! So happy for you! But what the heck :-O

So you OV'd and then also DTD a good 3-4 days before the positive OPKs then? And on a CD that was not your usual OV day? That's that crazy but really great!

Chips4dinneragain · 03/04/2019 17:39

Thank you explorers it is feeling pretty miraculous right now! obviously very early days, but enoying the moment non the less.

Explorers10 · 03/04/2019 17:12

@chips4dinneragain

OMG congratulations!! I’m so pleased for you!! Miracles do happen!

Cheers crazychemist guess I ovulated before I got those positive OPKs on Friday and Saturday then. Im CD17 today, so latest I could have ovulated is CD9. I guess this is a prime example of why you can't rely on OPKs, I thought I was fairly textbook and had it down - regular 2 days of positives around CD12 and testing twice a day from CD7, still slightly flummoxed.

crazychemist · 03/04/2019 14:13

Yaaaaaaaaay! Congrats @Chipsfordinneragain!

Chips4dinneragain · 03/04/2019 12:16

Sorry photo is crap, I'm at work so took the pic in the toilet! But its definitely there, definitely pink and came up within about a min.

Chips4dinneragain · 03/04/2019 12:14

Let us know once you've got your hands on a FRER! Fingers crossed x

Chips4dinneragain · 02/04/2019 19:09

Yes the dates are definitely out if it's positive. I just don't see how the dates can be any different, for lots of reasons I won't go into (as it will only further expose my batshittery).

Will update in the morning after having spent the whole night POAS

crazychemist · 02/04/2019 18:58

If it’s not wrong, you OVd earlier than Friday. HCG is what pregnancy tests detect, and the embryo doesn’t start to produce it until it detects implantation, which is almost never less than 7dpo, and commonly between 9&12 dpo.

So if it is positive, you OVd early and missed the LH surge, which can be as short as 8 hours.

Rather strange. I’ve got all my fingers crossed for you, but the dates don’t seem quite right.

sassenach84 · 02/04/2019 18:40

@Chips4dinneragain whaaaaattt!?!? This is exciting/confusing/weird! Any chance your last AF actually may not have been AF? DPO4 definitely wouldn't show but then those lines have colour to them too. I'm baffled

Chips4dinneragain · 02/04/2019 18:04

I mean it's either wrong or I'm more than 4dpo right chemist ?

No chance of a frer tonight, but will get one tomorrow morning if IC is still positive

Chips4dinneragain · 02/04/2019 18:02

Yeah that was my thought, but I got my first positive OPK on Friday morning, it wasn't quite positive the evening before so fairly sure I can't have ovulated earlier than Friday.

I've been TTC for a long time and never even had a sniff of an evap, so would be pretty bad luck to get two in one evening. The OPK is dark enough to be considered positive now (that pic was taken about 2 mins after I dipped the hpt).

Nothing for it but to wait until tomorrow I guess.

crazychemist · 02/04/2019 17:57

Ooooh, that’s interesting. Run out to a pharmacist and see if you can get a first response one and then try (and probably fail) to hold out for fmu tomorrow morning? However, if you are right about 4dpo then it can’t be a positive surely?
