TTC after pregnancy loss - Thread 29 - huddle up and bring on the BFP's!

Sorry I've been quite ladies.

I'm after some advice.
So I got my first positive opk at about 6pm on cd10 but didn't dtd until 2am cd11 and no dtd before cd10 am I still in with a chance or am I grasping at straws. I'm bummed coz I've waited months to ttc and the first real chance and I could have missed it arhhhh if I could kick my own butt

Feel like it's hugs needed all around!

My AF is so light this cycle, hardly any of those clotty bits either which I normally get and since mc I'd been getting more clots but this one is just lighter and less clotty bits. What is my body doing? CD4 and should be more than this. Think I need to try that positive visualising thing @nirupa suggested. Is there any technique to it?

@moonpeace I will join you on the wine, CD5 here and nothing like Amy normal period.

@moonpeace My employer has offered us counselling for me and my DH and our first appointment is on Monday 8th. We’ve also been to a Sands support group and plan to go to the next one (they are monthly)

@Bluebelltulip I’ve replied to your PM but re ovulation I think it might just take time for our cycles to regulate themselves.

Bleugh, spoke too soon. Deluge of AF this morning, not so much in a pad but every time I go to the loo.

I'm feeling quite faint today as well but I don't really know why.

@laney79 our bodies really like to confuse us. Hope your cycles settle down. Mine was short last month and now this month looks like ov on cd10 so on track for another short cycle. Does anyone know how short they need to be to cause a problem?

@raincart2017 I don’t believe your recent miscarriage will affect your ivf funding. I have had two now and the fertility clinic told me it will not affect our status and we will be put back on the waiting list (as we haven’t had a live birth). But best to double check, as we have a diagnosed condition so I’m not sure if it’s different if you are unexplained. I hope you get some answers soon.
@aliceRR so sorry you have to deal with all of that after what you’ve been through. People just don’t think. A friend sent us an email with pictures of her new baby boy, two weeks after our second loss. She didn’t know about the second one to be fair but it still hurt a bit. I shrug it off, because it’s not my baby after all.
@laney79 I also went through this, the early ovulation. Such a bore. The cycle I got an early positive LH I didn’t ovulate and had a weird period at day 14. But the cycle after that everything settled down and became regular. Your body might gear up but have a second surge later (as the egg won’t be mature enough so early in your cycle). So keep tracking bbt. Do you ever do accupuncture or does it not suit because of your medical phobia? Have you considered alternative treatments? My wacky cycles were due to stress I think and if it happens to me again I will focus on techniques to alleviate stress/worry.

@Laney79 That does seem very early to be ovulating, keep in mind it is possible (although not normal) to have a LH surge but not actually ovulate.

I'd also be tempted to repeat the test in case it was a duff OPK.

Did you have a normal period and a negative pregnancy test last cycle? If not, it might be worth doing a pregnancy test, just to be sure it's LH and not hCG that's been detected.

@frillyfarmer @InDreamland People can be really insensitive. What’s annoying me slightly is when people ask me whether my friend (who was due about three weeks after my baby and now has a health 2 week old) has had her baby. I do plan to see my friend and her baby but my family and friends asking about her baby less than six weeks after my little girl died just seems insensitive. Then they ask what she had (a girl, like my DC) and they ask what she’s named her... My Mum asked me earlier when I’m seeing her as she’d like to see the baby 🙄 It doesn’t bother me massively but it does bother me a bit at the time.

And the number of people who have told me not to worry as I’ll have another baby - well (a) I might not (we all know not to take that for granted) and (b) even if I do have another child they won’t replace my baby girl. I’ve even had people tell me she’ll “come back” 🙄

I know I’m a bit irritable anyway

@Bluebelltulip Hope you don’t have to wait too long for results and they bring you some comfort. I haven’t had an appointment through yet but I imagine I’ll be anxious nearer the time.

@Raincart2017 - it's so tough, I'm sorry. I think the worst part of it (for me) is that I love my friends and I want to be happy for them but I feel so bitter every time I hear another announcement. I think for me, my friends think that because I have one, it's somehow OK.

I'm a bit down again tonight, bogged down in work, left the house before DS woke and came home two hours after he went down for the night. I'm beginning to think my career is putting an unnecessary stress on me.

Not sure if I said in the last thread but last year around the 12 months of trying point my doctor put me and DH through all of the tests, including ultrasound and a horrid procedure called the HSG to check the fallopian tubes! Only thing they found was a very slightly over active thyroid but after my 3rd blood test to check this, my thyroid decided to go back to normal! We then got to meet a fertility specialist last November who has put us down as unexplained fertility and to be eligible for fertility I have to get my BMI below 30 which I have been trying to do but with the MC it affected the weight loss.

We now have a follow up appointment in 7 weeks where I need to lose 1.5 stone to tick a box then maintain the weight loss for 6 months to be able to get IVF before I'm 35 in 2020 if we don't conceive naturally before this.

Sorry for in depth message but I was wondering if anyone has had NHS IVF and are you aware if my MC would now effect me going through IVF in the future?

Thank you ladies! We already have a DD of 21 months. I'm absolutely pooping myself but will deal with it if/when it comes to it. My clinic told me to have a scan on 17/04 and it's my birthday! So I'll shift the scan to the day after as got visitors then. Very anxious waiting time till then to find out if it's a singleton or indeed twins.

@raincart2017 I totally understand. We have also been trying a long time as we have male factor infertility, with two heartbreaking mmc to show for it. We have watched all our friends fall pregnant easily and sail through their pregnancies. It is unfair. You do think “why are we having all the heartache”? Your reaction is completely normal and understandable. We’ve all been there. I too feel positive but sometimes I just want to sob. For the lives I lost and never met, and the sorrow of being alone in our experience. Allow the tears, it will get easier.
@strawberrye thanks for the info! Looks like I’ve already had a lot of the tests (just spoke to doctor today) but we are going to repeat the thyroid one and some of the other tests that were requested for the ivf. We are being referred on the nhs to Dr. Shehata- his is our local clinic fortunately. The referral was made a few days ago so hopefully won’t be too long. How are you?

Hello, just checking in fashionably late to the new thread. I'm on holiday so haven't been checking mumsnet much.

I'm Tiny, now 33 years (had a birthday since the last thread, never really minded getting older before but now I hate it). I have a same sex partner so have been TTC with donor sperm through self-funded fertility treatment.
IUI 1 - BFN
IUI 2 - missed miscarriage at 10 weeks (but baby measured 6) in April 2018
IUI 3 - chemical pregnancy at 4 weeks in July 2018
IVF 1 - chemical pregnancy at 5 weeks in December 2018, 1 embryo in freezer

I requested prednisolone for the FET, currently still waiting (!) to hear my clinic's decision on this (yes it is taking ages and yes I have been chasing!). Also awaiting RMC follow up appointment. If we don't get the answer I want regarding prednisolone, I will be looking to change clinic to one more open to this. I'm not very happy with our current clinic, but moving clinics would be logistically tricky so hoping they'll come around.

Currently having a bit of time out on holiday. My body might be rubbish at keeping babies alive but it's quite good at hurtling down mountains at high speed with bits of wood/fiberglass/metal strapped to it's feet! Been doing yoga every day after hitting the slopes too!

@Mistymeow my local RMC sent me blood forms and ultrasound appt through the posts with an instruction to wait 8 weeks post miscarriage. The secretary looked out for the results and rang to book me an appointment once they were all through. I think it is pretty normal that of all results are clear, to discharge you at first appt and tell you to keep trying.

So last night after 6 weeks since I MC I broke down in floods of tears! I've been feeling so positive about knowing we can actually get pregnant but now having to try again but no that changed last night when a friend of ours announced she's pregnant this was the same friend who was adamant they were planning on trying for a couple of years as they only get married last August. I'm happy for them and I know people change their minds but I want expecting to hear that and now feeling like seriously when is it my turn! We've been trying for 17 months with 1 MC! Feel like screaming!!!!

1 MC 12/2/19 @ 11+6 beans passed about 7w 😢 Now TTC again impatiently as cycle all over. My app said ovulation yesterday OPK yesterday and today negative. Don't know if I haven't ovulated yet or if I missed it. Today's line was lighter than yesterdays. I believe I had my first post MC period on 12/3/19 which lasted a whole week. Next due 9/4/19 but probably won't happen on time. I've had intermittent spotting since MC bleed stopped after 2w and 2d and again since last 'period'. Confused. Frustrated. You name it. I just want our baby 😢 xx

Hi @Mistymeow I was referred to my local RMC and my GP kindly did some of the blood tests needed prior to me being seen because the wait for an appointment was 3 months. It meant the RMC consultant could review those results, did a pelvic ultrasound the same day as my appointment but wouldn't do any further investigations and discharged me the same day. I would recommend getting some basic ones done first - like your thyroid - if you can, as thats when my hypothyroidism was diagnosed, and it takes at least a couple of months for the treatment to take effect and for it to be safe to try again with TTC. Good luck with your referral - are you seeing Dr Shehata privately or on the NHS?

@russkispy I did wonder about twins! So glad it’s all going well so far.
@moonpeace @bluebelltulip it’s really hard. I describe it as having a little grey cloud following me around. One day it will lift.
@frillyfarmer it can be lighter after miscarriage, or heavier! It seems to vary woman to woman. It’s good that you have af so you can start again, sounds like things are moving in the right direction.

For those of you who have been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic on the nhs, did you have any tests in advance of the appointment via your gp so the specialist can review them at the appointment? How long did you wait for one? I’m being referred to Dr Shehata at St Helier. I hope they will accept me (had two mmc not three, but infertility is making trying for a third difficult).

Just got my second HCG bloods since Monday. Massive rise! HCG is 2241! Twins? I'm freaking out! Just asked my clinic, and she said maybe! Omg! 😱😱😅

@ale2992 it's hard to symptom spot no matter how much we say we won't do it we still do.

@moonpeace I'm finding not seeing my future as planned hard too. Tomorrow is DD's last full day at nursery as she's dropping to mornings which was planned to reduce costs but still give me time with the baby.

Has anyone used cervical mucus to track ovulation? I was thinking of trying it when TTC dc2 but conceived without it.
