@MyHeart

I think you’d rather have a baby than wine! Have some chocolate instead?

Do you have any help with your DD?

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 04/05/2019 18:52

Hi all.

Pain seems to have gone but I also feel like I'm analysing every twinge and not sure what I feel anymore.

My toddler has chosen this week to fully drop her nap. She is a nightmare come 3pm and I have really struggled today. Bedtime has been hideous (she is now falling asleep 6.30-6.30 which is nice) and I have lost my temper and shouted twice. Feel terrible. I'm a horrible mum and don't even deserve one child let alone anymore and if I end up tubeless and infertile I feel like it is my punishment.

Feel very stressed and tearful and all I want is a glass of wine but can't Sad

Lilimum6 · 04/05/2019 14:28

Just catching up but omg how many bfps!!!
Congrats ladies xx

AliceRR · 04/05/2019 09:38

@moompeace Feeling warm might not just be down to ov. Fingers crossed you have not ov yet but maybe dtd just in case

Hope everyone else is ok and has something nice planned for the bank hol even if it’s just a day to watch Netflix and eat chocolate / drink wine

I’m supposed to be going to a family gathering shortly but really not in the mood!

@Catconfusion That’s shocking. I’m so sorry you went though that.

Daisyboo70 · 04/05/2019 07:52

NHS Ivf clinics will usually see ladies over 35 after 6 months of trying. I was lucky and got seen quickly as I was 40 at the time. I was only aloud 1 cycle. Unfortunately didn't implant. I'm 43 next month.

strawberrye · 04/05/2019 07:47

Thanks @VenusStarr

@KnitKitty yes I'm finding things quite hard. I had hoped that once we got my thyroid sorted we would conceive more quickly - you hear loads of stories about people who get their hypothyroidism treated and then bam they conceive within a cycle or 2. My thyroid has been perfect for conception since January, and I've been going for acupuncture for 3 months yet nothing. Plus everything I read about recurrent chemicals seem to be related to hyperfertility - we clearly aren't hyperfertile as we're not getting pregnant most cycles. I just don't know what's wrong and feel so frustrated with it because in young and fit and healthy otherwise. Have you got started on your new medication? How are you finding it? Will they check the prolactin is coming down?

@Mistymeow I know I'll probably feel a bit better in the new cycle but I feel this process is grinding me down. So many people have said to me that years ago my pregnancies wouldn't have even been recognised, so it makes me wonder if infertility and recurrent miscarriage are a continuum and I'm somewhere in the middle which medicine doesn't recognise at the moment. I know a loss is a loss but if they aren't seen as that by some specialists then surely the fact we've been trying so long without success indicates something is wrong? How are you getting on?

Laney79 · 04/05/2019 07:30

@Catconfusion thanks, I'm feeling ok...obviously nervous, but trying to stay positive. Will do a non frer test tomorrow too just to check progression.

I'd definitely contact the ccg. At our age they should see you sooner. The wording on my ccgs ivf criteria is shockingly bad...check it out:

"Infertility can be defined as the failure to conceive after regular unprotected sexual intercourse for a period of 2 years in the absence of known reproductive pathology”.

So you'd assume that as I had conceived twice in a year I was ineligible -that's what my GP thought, as did I...it then goes on to say: "an earlier referral for specialist consultation to discuss the options for attempting conception, further assessment and appropriate treatment should be made where:
 the woman is aged 36 years or over
 there is a known clinical cause of infertility or a history of predisposing factors for infertility"

But that is so woolly and open to interpretation that no on really knows how much earlier that referral should be. And it doesn't make clear that miscarriages are part of infertility. I thought as we'd conceived we weren't eligible, but the person I spoke to at the ccg said that wasn't the case at all (I did tell her I felt I was being punished for having mcs-was a bit upset!)

Nice guidance says you should be referred after a year, or sooner if over 36. Sadly I think it's a case of gathering the knowledge for yourself, and then asking the gp to do as you ask based on the research you've done. To be fair to a GP they generally aren't fertility Specialists and often are under strict orders not to refer outside of criteria. And when the criteria is badly worded.,..well you see the problem.

In our case, the private consult made a huge difference - basically as we did that it helped us get our nhs ivf case fast tracked - the consultant has been pushing through tests and appts to get us treatment before my birthday (which I obv don't need now-feel a bit bad but hey he told us to keep trying!) which was a huge help.

Sadly the one thing I've learnt through this, and my day job is that the nhs system is pretty broken, the care generally is very good, but referral and access to that care is poor. You have to chase things up and fight for what you need. Even with the private consult I still had to sort my referral being cancelled, my oh SA referral being returned saying it needed to be in my name, and I'm still waiting on AMH results so will have to chase those (still wanna know what it was!)

You have to be on it, it's a bit survival of the fittest (some may say most annoying/tenacious!) in my experience. Xxx

Thanks @Daisyboo70 and I've just realised you have good news too. Congratulations! What cycle day did you get your bfp? I'd have thought it would show 11 dpo on an FRER but I will test again if no AF.

I'm so sorry for your loss and that you had to fight for a diagnosis of mmc. I too had a nightmare. I woke up to spotting at 10 weeks with a little cramping. The midwife wouldn't send me for a scan and said we'd be taking up the space of someone having an emergency if we went to EPU. We had to pay and find out no heartbeat in one of those Window to the Womb clinics full of people getting 3D scans. I had an ERPC at 12 weeks and was projectile vomiting with hypermesis right up until the surgery. It's honestly the most traumatic experience of my life. Then we conceived again a few weeks after with a chemical pregnancy.

Your result gives me hope that we can conceive again and get those lovely strong lines you have. I wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy! Xx

Daisyboo70 · 04/05/2019 07:06

Morning ladies @catconfusion your not out until af arrives. I had a mmc during end of feb early march. I just knew but it took a week for medical professionals to believe me.

Catconfusion · 04/05/2019 06:39

Hello everyone else and sorry I've not been great at catching up or mentioning everyone. I hope you're all ok. I just got a bfn at 12 dpo so my cycle after my back to back mmc and mc has probably been unsuccessful. I'm ok though as it's been a marathon with O on day 36 also not being able to time dtd well due to DHs SA being on the same day, typical! I'm still getting some pelvic pain which feels like it could be related to the ERPC so staying positive and letting my body heal is a good thing. Xx

Catconfusion · 04/05/2019 06:35

I'm so sorry @frillyfarmer your last few posts have given me a lump in my throat, just appreciating my devastating it is to go through another loss. I do hope you're able to rest up and recover as well as you can. Love you you and DH! Xx

Catconfusion · 04/05/2019 06:34

Massive congratulations to you @Bluebelltulip and @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue I have my fingers crossed all is ok and any anxieties pass. Xx

Catconfusion · 04/05/2019 06:32

Thank you so much @InDreamland it's really helpful to hear your views in hindsight. I have a feeling we'll feel the same if it carries on like this. Don't get me wrong, the nhs were great with treatment during my mmc and mc as very traumatic but the diagnostic stuff seems rubbish.

How are you feeling at the moment? Xx

Catconfusion · 04/05/2019 06:29

@Laney79 thank you so much for replying. How are you feeling mama? I'm so pleased for you!

I might do what you did and speak to someone in our ccg. I can't believe how clueless the gp was.

He said we haven't been trying long enough for a referral and we're soon 40 so by the time we have too old. It just doesn't seem fair. It's 7 months since we stopped using contraception. Probably by the time we see someone we'll have been trying long enough. Guess we'll be too old though.

Probably best to go private. Maybe get the FSH and LH done on cd 3 (still can't believe I told the gp when they needed to be done) then go from there. Hopefully DHs SA will turn up too if it's not loss. I can't believe how stressful this is! Xx

AliceRR · 03/05/2019 22:40

@Avf88 I also had a friend who had her baby a few weeks after me. All along we were looking forward to mat leave together and then kill my baby died at nearly 40 weeks. I saw her a couple of weeks after when she was about 39 weeks and then I actually had her over at my house with her baby a few weeks ago. I found it ok. I didn’t get too involved with the baby but I did hold her etc and I didn’t get that emotional about it. Everyone is different though and I know I feel better some days than others so just be kind to yourself x

TinyPaws · 03/05/2019 22:36

@InDreamland @Laney79 I took 2 3000IU sprays of vitamin D per day. I used the BetterYou one, I figured absorbing it through my cheek might be better as I had been taking tablets but my levels were still a bit low. I also got plenty of sunshine and if there was little/no sunshine I used a tanning bed once per week.

InDreamland · 03/05/2019 22:17

So sorry ladies, this thread had moved so fast the past couple of days I've struggled to keep up properly with everyone, so apologies to those I've missed off my last couple of posts.

@bluebelltulip congratulations! Glad it's a stronger line today. Fx for a sticky bean.

@Frillyfarmer so sorry you're going through all this shit. You did the right thing cancelling lunch with your friend. You need to do what's right for you and protect your feelings at the moment. Flowers

Taken our last antibiotics. Hopefully that helps or chances of a BFP without another MC. I can't take a 3rd MC but need that BFP first. Looking forward to my next acupuncture session tomorrow.

@Laney79 I hope I have some of your luck.

@TinyPaws I've been taking vitamin D tablets since MC#1 in July. What did you do to increase your levels?

@Mistymeow how are you?

@KnitKitty I'd be really interested to know if you think acupuncture has really helped with fertility. Good that it's made your cycles more clock work.

@AliceRR you're not ranty at all but guess we all understand here about mc/ baby loss being so secret and misunderstood.

@Catconfusion after my experiences with the NHS fertility clinics over the past 5 years I'd say if you can afford it then go private for testing. The money we've spent has been worth every penny for all the additional knowledge we now have. I regret not going private 3 or 4 years ago.

@ale2992 fx for this cycle! Will you be testing early or holding out until AF is due?

Avf88 · 03/05/2019 22:11

@Bluebelltulip I’ve just found out my friend is due a few weeks after what would have been my due date, it makes me glad to read your view, I’m terrified it’s going to be awful.

And everyone else who’s mentioned it’s not talked about enough, I’m so glad (not the right word but you know what I mean) for the internet! I have one friend who’s been through a similar thing but she’s in another country...

Can feel AF on its way so soon be time to try again

Laney79 · 03/05/2019 21:08

Thanks everyone - trying to stay positive but obviously worried after my previous two losses. I'm due to see the fertility consultant on weds to discuss the ivf and I'm hoping they'll still let me see him. Partly to get our test results, but also to ask about anything I can do, and wether I should be tested for hormone levels as mine were so out of whack pre-conception. Gotta protect this little one.

Thanks @Mistymeow - glad you held the hope I couldn't! Xxx

@Daisyboo70 your tests look good lovely. Congratulations!

Pleased to hear you got a better result this morning @Bluebelltulip - I'm terrified too!

@TinyPaws what did you differently with vitamin D? Great level!

@frillyfarmer I don't blame you for cancelling lovely. It's awful and very unfair. I'd be angry too, and yes push -you have to do what's right for you.

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue Did you speak to the epau? I hope the pain eased off and all is ok

@AliceRR That experience sounds really tough -I really feel for you. you are right about MCs not being discussed enough. I hate that our little ones are seen as something to be kept secret by some people.

@InDreamland I've no idea if it's helped me but I've had three sessions of acupuncture and I started it this cycle. So it could be a factor?

@Catconfusion I'd be narked too by the gp with that response. I know where I am that gps can't order an AMH test-only consultants. If I was you I'd ask to be referred to a fertility specialist. I discovered that here you can be referred for investigation without having to be on the pathway for treatment like ivf-but the gps don't know that! If you get no luck you could pay and get an AMH done privately (I think it's about £50-75) or pay to see a specialist privately. In all honesty the £200 I spent on my private consultation was worth the money. Xxx

Bluebelltulip · 03/05/2019 20:33

@AliceRR I agree it's not talked about enough so people find it shocking. I'm fairly comfortable talking about DD in conversation but some people seem to ignore it. I've also had the dilemma of whether to lie or not, I think it depends on which I can cope with at the time.

Some of you may remember that I have a friend which was due 2 weeks after me, I met her little boy for the first time today. I didn't cry but did find it very hard. I'm glad I have now met him though.

ale2992 · 03/05/2019 19:50

5dpo and I've started symptom spotting! I've had pains/cramping in either sides, exhausted and sore boobs

frillyfarmer · 03/05/2019 19:43

Oh @AliceRR that sounds so so hard. I've started being so blunt when people ask me about plans for another one, I always tell them straight and the awkward afterwards is absolutely all theirs. It has cracked me a couple of times though so I can't imagine how you must feel. I have no advice other than people are thoughtless sometimes.

I'm mad with the world today. Half of my head is just so fucking angry I've lost another bean, another set of dates, another future. The other half wants to crack on and get going again.

I'm 29 and I have a child conceived naturally and easily - my GP's response to tests yesterday. The irrational part of my is concerned about secondary infertility or just being lucky the first time round but if my GP says I don't need tests, do I accept that for now or push?

Love to you all on this thread. In between all my recently birthed or knocked up friends, I don't have many people who understand what I'm going through. To make it slightly worst my solid as a rock DH is really in bits this time round.

Russkispy · 03/05/2019 18:37

@frillyfarmer so sorry you're going through this shit! Sending big hugs.
@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue hope it's not ectopic! Did you get through to EPU?
