Although I love having a son, I'd also quite like a girl, just so I can call her Martha 😍

Kinsters · 06/04/2019 09:59

Aw they're really nice names Twittle! Waiting to ovulate is so boring... And I've got another cold. Sucks.

DartmoorDoughnut · 05/04/2019 12:35

@BettySwoll0cks yeah he’s done that in the past, “Mummy look you’ve got a baby in your tummy!” “No love I just have a big tummy because you two used to live in it 🤷🏻‍♀️😂” then go and sob quietly in a corner!

@TwittleBee we really struggled to think of names second time around as we’d used up all of our choices with DS1 as it took so long to get pregnant with him we didn’t think we’d get another chance to use the names we loved!

TwittleBee · 05/04/2019 12:30

I'm considering Roy Marcus James as that would Honor his 3 grandads and two uncles! But DH isn't sure.

Oh Dartmoor that really us a tricky one. Hope that he has had a lovely prediction there for you.

Betty ah hope that topic didn't linger too long. Bless kids, they haven't a clue.

I think I accidently set a work colleague off the other day. Told her I'm expecting another baby as she asked how many kids I had and she left so quick, literally "congratulations" and then walked away. Felt awful.

Bentley11 · 05/04/2019 12:18

Roy & Vincent go really nicely together @TwittleBee - could you perhaps use DHs name (or even a masculine version of your name)?
If not, I think William or Stanley would be lovely 💕

Aww bless him @DartmoorDoughnut - @BettySwoll0cks that would have set me off 😭😭

BettySwoll0cks · 05/04/2019 11:47

Awwww @Dartmoor - my DS's best friend's mum is pregnant and so he asked me the other day, completely out of the blue, "have you got a baby in your tummy, Mummy?" And I was like 🤮

DartmoorDoughnut · 05/04/2019 11:25

Eldest just asked me if I’m going to have another baby, said probably not as frankly he’s 4 and I don’t want to get into a discussion but he went into say that he hopes I do and he hopes it’s a girl and we’ll call her either Emily or Elizabeth ... let’s hope he’s right!

TwittleBee · 05/04/2019 10:41

Should add... interestingly my Dad is 1 of 4 brothers. They've gone on to having mainly boys. My Nan ended up finally having a girl when she remarried!

My step dad is one of 4 boys but they've all gone on to have only girls! His mum was desperate for a girl too so I guess at least she has a million granddaughters.

TwittleBee · 05/04/2019 10:39

Kin I'm not sure if he does really understand but we have included him in it all and when we ask if he is excited he nods his head. He doesn't talk yet so communication isn't always great.

Name ideas... We have Settled on Roy. Think it goes well with our Son's name, Vincent. Stuck on middle names though for this one. Vincent has a middle name after my grandad so I suggested we did the same for DH's grandad but he isn't keen as him and his brother already Honor their grandads.

tigsyboo · 05/04/2019 09:58

There's no kids on my side. Sister hasn't had any and got no other close family
My mum has a sister and I have a sister tho.... 🤔

Bentley11 · 05/04/2019 09:56

X post @BettySwoll0cks - looks like you'll be having another DS too then! Grin

Bentley11 · 05/04/2019 09:56

@tigsyboo how interesting... what about your side?

@Kinsters I felt exactly the same. I would absolutely love to have a DD & always felt I wouldn't really know what to "do" with a DS... but spending time with my nephews has really changed that.

Have you seen this this morning? Hats off to Hilaria for being so open.

BettySwoll0cks · 05/04/2019 09:54

Ps boys are the best!!

BettySwoll0cks · 05/04/2019 09:54

My MIL is pretty much the only female in the family. She has 2 brothers, she had 3 sons. Of the 3 sons they have 5 kids, 4 are boys!!

Kinsters · 05/04/2019 09:16

I think I'll be having boys Bentley! I think you'll have boys too Tigsy!!

When I was younger I really really wanted girls but spending time with my husbands very male family has changed that and now I don't have a preference.

tigsyboo · 05/04/2019 08:51

This is interesting.... DH's parents have 7 grandsons!! Not one of DH or his brother or sister has had a girl!!

Bentley11 · 05/04/2019 08:42

Love reading about stuff like this... my cousins & siblings are equally split too... however -
DH has an elder DSis, then a DB then him.
Interestingly that pattern has continued as both SIL & BIL have had an elder DD followed by a younger DS.
My DM is convinced that she can't carry boys - she had an mc before me, after me & after my sister, all which were "different pregnancies" & she believes to have been boys.
I really think based on this we'll have a DD first & wouldn't be surprised if we didn't have a DS at all.

It sounds like you'll be having boys @Kinsters!

Huge, huge congrats on your little boy @TwittleBee. Have you any name ideas yet?

Kinsters · 05/04/2019 07:18

Or maybe not - I have no idea when kids start caring about things like siblings!

Kinsters · 05/04/2019 07:17

Yes Twittle it's really interesting! I haven't read anything about women and miscarriages of particular sexes but my DH said that he read male foetuses were more likely to be miscarried so it stands to reason that XY sperm dominant men's partners are more likely to have miscarriages (though I'd imagine the figures are not super significant).

Your DS will be so excited!

TwittleBee · 05/04/2019 06:27

Thank you DartmoorDoughnut and Kin

Yeah I looked into that too Kin - I saw a post with someone asking about it over a FB group as her partner has only ever had girls and he has a lot of sisters. Everyone was laughing at her about it saying it was just 50:50. But it got me thinking so headed onto Google Scholar and yeah sure enough there appears to be 3 types of men, those who have better XY sperm, those with better XX and those who are about equal. Also other research, did show once you have 2 of the same sex then your chances of having a 3rd the same sex again are dramatically increased and I guess that because your partner is likely to have better sperm of one sex.

Did see some where that it looks like some women are more likely to be successful in carrying one sex over the other. But I never got round to looking into the research for that or where that came from. Mainly because I can't bring myself looking too deeply into reasons behind MCs.

Kinsters · 05/04/2019 02:48

Interestingly my DH was looking into heritability of sex and found that men can have a genetic propensity to produce male or female sperm. I'll be interested to see what we have (if it happens!) because DH's family is so male heavy - of him, siblings and cousins 10 boys and only 2 girls. Me, my siblings and cousins are split exactly 4 girls 4 boys.

Kinsters · 05/04/2019 01:41

Ah sorry it doesn't look good Bentley Sad.

Congratulations Twittle! That's lovely. I think everyone here's got only boys right? I can't remember anyone mentioning having a daughter?

DartmoorDoughnut · 04/04/2019 19:33

@TwittleBee fantastic news! We have two boys (so far 🤞) and I love it

TwittleBee · 04/04/2019 18:09

Oh Bentley that is just so fucking shit again. Also so shit on the house situation too!!! Why do people do that?

Ah so glad that he booked you guys in for another scan tigsy that is so sweet of him!

So had my scan! We are having another boy!

DartmoorDoughnut · 04/04/2019 16:56

@tigsyboo oh what a darling your DH is, so glad everything is ok with you and @edidxb Grin

@Bentley11 oh that sucks Sad sometimes I wish I was back in the early days of TTC before DS1 as I had no idea about POAS or MN so although it was a horrendous 3 and a bit years I wasn’t driving myself nuts every month with the TWW. Knowledge is power with charting and ovulating but it can drive you insane too.
