Hi,

I'm on my 16th month of TTC 3rd baby. We have decided to try SMEP this month. I'm on CD11.
Anyone else tried this plan?

I definitely think they’re worth it. My app was predicting ovulation at CD 18 but my positive opk was usually 2 days later

KristieP2018 · 15/02/2019 15:07

I use digital opks and got a peak on the 31jan this cycle which was cd 11. Ones in the past have been around cd 12-13

MrsS2015 · 15/02/2019 14:42

@kirstieP2018 are you using ovulation tests?

Louise392 · 15/02/2019 14:33

@kirstieP2018 that is what the site i read said. Here spermmeetseggplan.com/smep-step-by-step/
That is what i used, although i dtd every other day over the ovulation days too as ive read it says that sperm is more concentrated after a couple days.

KristieP2018 · 15/02/2019 14:27

Do you always start it on cd 8? This last cycle was only 25 days instead of my usually 27-29. I still think I ovulated around cd 12 though.

MrsS2015 · 15/02/2019 14:09

@Louise392 Yeah the 2ww does drag. 12 DPO for me was the day af was due - I have around 32 day cycles and ovulated at CD 20.

No I didn’t do temping. Just ovulation tests and tracking my periods.

Louise392 · 15/02/2019 13:52

Feels like i am never going to be 12 dpo lol dragging so much!
Ovia app says to test 2 days before my af is due so that is when i am aiming to test if i can wait that long.

Did you do temping too? I have not at all but wondered if i should next month if the witch shows up @mrsS2015

MrsS2015 · 15/02/2019 11:39

I tested at 12 DPO and got the faintest line. But i wasn’t sure if it was a just a duff test so I waited a couple more days and got a definite positive on 14 DPO.

Louise392 · 15/02/2019 11:30

Thanks, What DPO did you find out on @mrss2015?

MrsS2015 · 15/02/2019 09:41

I didn’t get any cramping. But I usually have sore breasts for around a week before I get my period. This time, I had sore breasts for about 3 days and then the pain stopped.
I also started getting random heart palpitations in the last 6 days or so. Not many but I never usually get them so that was odd for me.

Fingers crossed for you @Louise392

Louise392 · 14/02/2019 20:50

I have done SMEP this month for the first time, hopeing that it works for us, glad to have a rest from DTD during the 2ww as we DTD every other day from 2 days after my period finished in January then as much as possible my fertile week.

Currently 5dpo and having cramps, last night were bad like period pains, heartburn, cm changing daily from wet to dry to creamy.

Really hope it worked this month. Defo give it a try @prayingfora2019bubba

sazzle3 · 14/02/2019 20:35

We tried the smep and it didnt work for us. We have been ttc#4 for 2 n half years now with nothing. We have now been refered to our local hospital to find out why when we already have 3 xx

Chanel05 · 14/02/2019 18:10

I did it for a couple of months and it didn’t work for me. I didn’t ovulate until cd18 on both occasions and had +opks cd17 so ended up dtd 4 days in a row which was hard going!

hcopp · 14/02/2019 17:23

And then I realise I can't spell, and am wrong anyway. Oh well.

hcopp · 14/02/2019 17:22

'Spem' also means 'Hope' in Latin, which is nice 😊

MrsS2015 · 14/02/2019 15:23

Good luck @Cinnamonhazelnut!

Cinnamonhazelnut · 14/02/2019 14:57

I've never heard of this.... but I'll give anything a shot now. Seems like it works. Thanks :)

MrsS2015 · 14/02/2019 13:27

Hi ladies.

First time posting on here.
We started ttc baby #1 in September 2018 just using ovulation sticks and the flo app.

@Prayingfora2019bubba we decided to use the SMEP plan this cycle and got our bfp yesterday.
It’s definitely worth trying. Good luck!

X

Prayingfora2019bubba · 09/01/2019 08:30

Congratulations @magpie24 😊 it will be a shock having to do night feeds after nearly 7 years lol!

Good luck to other ladies starting the plan! Let keep us all updated 👍 xx

This is new to me. I've just read up on it. If I don't get my bfp this month I'm going to give it a go next month! Thanks

Kinsters · 09/01/2019 02:15

We sort of did it this month and ended up dtd at least every other day since Christmas eve as I ovulated late (only confirmed with a clear temp rise this morning). Knackered by the end.

magpie24 · 09/01/2019 02:09

Worked for me. As other posters have said it is hard work but worth it. Currently breastfeeding a seven week old DD who was a result of SMEP success

Prayingfora2019bubba · 08/01/2019 21:58

It's really hard to know how many times to DTD. At the moment I have done on CD8 & CD10. I'm CD11 today with high ovulation test so hoping tomorrow is my Peak so will DTD 3 days in a row and have a break for 1 day. Least I can say I tried it even if it doesn't work. I'm defiantly ready to ovulate as getting sharp pains in my right ovary today 👍 x

ShortandSweet96 · 08/01/2019 21:39

I think I've been doing this, this month without realising it as as thing. Now I'm excited! I was only saying to my OH earlier we need to DTD tonight, not the 9th, DTD 10th, 11th(ovulation day) and 12th.

I did read that DTD every day can lower sperm count though?! Makes me a little reluctant but we've been consistent as we can be this month so I'm really hoping for a BFP!

PumpkinsMum18 · 08/01/2019 21:30

@mass22 I am guessing it means Cycle Day 8 as in the 8th day is your cycle - correct me if I’m wrong!
