@stormtrooperjulian I'm feeling very impatient... took a lot to not POAS this morning despite being only 7dpo😱 had a bit of pinching too over the past few days, nothing major but just slightly uncomfortable. I was thinking about temping too but I don't wake up at the same time every morning so not sure it would work for me either😞

stormtrooperjulian · 09/01/2019 12:30

@Bettythecat OPKs can’t confirm that ovulation actually happened, you can have the hormone surge but not actually release the egg, so the temping confirms that it happened.

@KatBeCool you can have a temp dip before a big rise like @cupcakesandglitter said! You’re not out til AF arrives.

How are my cycle buddies @MrsAW2018 @Random2468 doing? I’m 7dpo now, had some cramping earlier today which is a bit early for me, seems to have mostly stopped now though, just a bit of pinching going on now.
I was thinking I might give temping a go next cycle. I’m a restless sleeper so it might not work for me but I guess there’s no harm in trying.

Hello all, hope you don't mind if I join in :)

Very new to all of this so looking for your words of wisdom, came off of the pill at the end of December (29th) as we want to start TTC but not really sure when I am due to ovulate of when AF is due. Was on Cerazette for years without any periods, and have not had a period or withdrawal bleed since coming off of it. Reading other forums here I know some people say you can be very fertile after coming off the pill so I have downloaded a couple of apps one said I was ovulating over the weekend (due to CM). We DTD Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun...probably being over hopeful but when is best to test if I'm not sure when AF should be due?

Thanks :D

MrsAW2018 · 09/01/2019 12:17

@cupcakesandglitter @Random2468 it's so rough, isn't it?! My dream last night was about being in labour and having my waters broken. Woke up feeling all disoriented thinking where's my baby😞😔 they're always so vivid as well. Horrible!

Random2468 · 09/01/2019 11:30

@MrsAW2018 I had this last night!! I was sooo sad when I woke up this morning non pregnant 😢

@Bettythecat Oh I'm so confused because I've read that the temp rise is the only thing that does actually confirm ovulation has occurred. You can get a false positive opk as your hormones can surge throughout your cycle but reach a certain level to then actually ovulate. Last cycle I had a positive opk but then didn't have temp rise till 2 weeks later and this must have been correct ovulation as AF came 12 days after this!
To add complication I have also read your temp rise can be a bit delayed... so realistically who knows when I actually ovulated in that 5 day window but we tried to do it lots so praying for a bfp this month!
It's all so confusing so I'd just say BD from positive opk onwards! And yes we did it lots from when we got the opk don't worry 😉

Oh and also with the bbt - it shouldn't be influenced by external factors such as temp of room etc as your body regulates that. If you do the bbt at same time each day without being unwell/jet lag/drinking it is actually very accurate. I've been charting since feb last year and it seems super accurate as I've been having irregularly odd long cycles and it's shown it's because I've been ovulating late in cycle

cupcakesandglitter · 09/01/2019 11:24

@Bettythecat you're right, there's no such thing as TMI anymore 😂 I suppose that's a plus! I think I'm going to get some next month, I've heard nothing but good things. Found this thread btw I'd maybe give this a read - seems there's nothing wrong with it every day! thoughts on dtd daily/more vs every other day during ovulation www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2986229-thoughts-on-dtd-daily-more-vs-every-other-day-during-ovulation

@MrsAW2018 ALL THE TIME!! I've dreamt everything - the birth, finding out im pg, having a newborn/toddler etc... it is horrible, especially when the dreams are so realistic :(

MrsAW2018 · 09/01/2019 11:15

Does anyone else dream about having a baby or being pregnant? I seem to dream about them both most nights and it's hard to wake up and realise that I don't have a baby or that I'm not pregnant😞😢

Bettythecat · 09/01/2019 11:09

@cupcakesandglitter- very good point! Think we will in that case...and maybe one more time tomorrow for luck 😂. Did another OPK this morning and even stronger than yesterday so don’t want to miss the boat. Am also trying the pre-seed lube this time round. He says it feels nice so that’s something if nothing else 🤷‍♀️ (Sorry TMI obviously but I think that ship has well and truly sailed for us all on here 😂). Feeling really anxious today as it’s our only “chance” this month and just know the TWW hits me hard. Come on BFP!!

cupcakesandglitter · 09/01/2019 10:59

@Bettythecat oh god, it is so difficult!! See the programme said that every other day throughout the whole month is better because that way you'll hit the fertile period (but actually I don't think you always will because you could DTD the day before you ovulate but what if they don't hang around and the egg is released the next evening?) - But they mentioned that there's nothing wrong with doing it every day, but the sperm may not have fully regenerated so there may not be enough good ones. That being said, there's no harm in you still DTD this evening if you've already done it today x

Bettythecat · 09/01/2019 10:42

@cupcakesandglitter did the programme say doing it every other day was best? I’d read somewhere that only makes a difference if the mans sperm count it low to start with? But maybe not! According to OPKs I am ovulating tomorrow so we did it last night and this morning and was considering tonight too but maybe that’s a bad idea?!

cupcakesandglitter · 09/01/2019 10:35

Sorry @KatBeCool forgot to add it's was @EltzBee that had the temp drop (how are you?!!) xx

cupcakesandglitter · 09/01/2019 10:32

@KatBeCool that's not necessarily a sign!! Remember one of the ladies on here had their temp drop and then shot up the next day and they had their BFP! You're not out until AF shows

I spent last night watching the Great Sperm Race on YouTube 😂 actually quite interesting to watch, never realised how much our bodies try and reject them 😂 poor sperm! DH has been super horny this month, I don't know why, but we've had sex at least once every day since the 4th... actually really enjoying it 😂 but then also don't know whether it's best to tell him to maybe only do ever other day? But then we are being relaxed this month 😩 decisions decisions....

KatBeCool · 09/01/2019 09:49

Temp dropped below cover line this morning 😭. That's always been a sign of the imminent bitch on her way to ruin my life.

Bettythecat · 09/01/2019 09:27

@Random2468 that’s happened to me before and I just put it down to other things. The temp in your house might be lower than your bed or you were particularly hot last night because of the temp in the bedroom or because you didn’t sleep as well as normal... I tend to take my temp readings with a bit of a pinch of salt because they just depend on so many different factors 😞 I would still take the high temp as your temp for today though and fx it’s a good sign 😘

Bettythecat · 09/01/2019 09:17

@Random2468 I thought OPKs were a more accurate sign of ovulation than temp rise as temp can be affected by so many different factors but an LH surge Can’t be wrong unless you have PCOS or similar which means you might have high levels anyway... is that not right? Did you still DTD when you got your positive OPK just in case? Obviously you can still get a surge and not ovulate at all though. Could you get a false positive on an OPK? So many questions sorry it’s such a minefield but also strangely fascinating!! 😂

Inthesky42 · 09/01/2019 09:15

Can I join the baby bus?!

Age: 34
TTC#1
Cycle: 6
CD: 21

Been feeling super tired. DTD lots around fertile window. Headaches and a bit dizzy. Thinking boobs getting a bit bigger.

Really hoping for some news this month, been getting a bit down everytime AF arrives! Fingers crossed for Sept baby!

Babytrain89 · 09/01/2019 08:10

@Katbecool I've never known anything like it. Even if I have a big meal, an hour later my stomach is actually rumbling. Insane!

@Gemmajen I used to get little tiny spots on my chest and shoulders for AF,but rarely a face break out. Yet round ovulation the last 2 months I've just had so many spots on my face! Glad I'm not the only one!

Random2468 · 09/01/2019 07:54

@Bettythecat I got a positive opk on day 13 this cycle and actually ovulated on day 17 (temp rise day 18 so felt like ages since the stick was positive!)

Any thoughts on this... bbt this morn 36.98 which for 6 dpo I was thrilled with... but I did think it was very high and I felt a bit hot so decided after I was up and doing things for a bit just to see if I had a fever (didn't feel unwell per se just so hot) and it was 36.1? I retook that 3 times and on a different thermometer and was all around 36.1-36.18! so why was my normal temp lower than my bbt?! I did wake at 3am and took temp 6.30am however the 3am wake up I literally just peeled my eyes to look at clock then went straight back to sleep without moving.. I'm confused!!

GemmaJen · 09/01/2019 04:29

@Babytrain89 yes to the bad skin at ovulation, I noticed the pattern when I started tracking, I only get spots around O, none with AF which I thought was odd.

KatBeCool · 09/01/2019 00:13

@Babytrain89 yes to crazy hunger! I want to eat again within thirty minutes of eating. It's insane.

cupcakesandglitter · 08/01/2019 22:27

@MrsH497 you may have ovulated a little later (or are about to!) my apps have never been right about my ov so don't go solely on that xx

Bettythecat · 08/01/2019 22:04

@TrashKitten10 yes they are fine just with the 5 temps- I think the app just needs to be able to spot a pattern to predict things but then again you would miss one day drops or rises either way which can sometimes indicate implantation or af being on the way.... in terms of the timing Natural Cycles also says that you can still measure if you get up 2 hours late or early so you could still test up to 8am on the weekends which might make it more palatable and would mean you wouldn’t need to get up at 6am. It’s having at least 2.5/3 hours sleep before you temp that’s most key I think. Xx

MrsH497 · 08/01/2019 22:03

Oddly my right boob is tender as well. Ignoring apps! There was me thinking OPKs didn't work and I didn't ovulate (dramatic!) x

sunshine1987 · 08/01/2019 22:00

@mrsh497 ahh in that case definitely ingnore the apps. They were getting my ovulation day completely wrong. I used to get ovulation pains and a lot of EWCM which was the way I knew x

MrsH497 · 08/01/2019 21:58

@sunshine1987 don't track as such hubby doesn't want us doing full on planning and tracking yet. It's only our second cycle of trying so I occasionally do OPKS.
Maybe the cramps were ovulation pains?
