Hello all- hurrah, I am back inthe game! Sad to say I was actually happy when af arrived (when I was on an emergency job and had nothing with me....) last week as it means I can get back with Clomid and BDing. Have been in a lull since mc just waiting to start again, but seven weeks later....thunderbirds are go (more like thunderthighs!)

RE: side effects- if you don't have any, you are bloody lucky. I am satanic and weepy. Perfect for visiting MIL this weekend!!!

Role call please:

Hi babytalk - I'm about to start my first cycle of Clomid - just started the Provera bit today as I don't have periods, well, I do but very infrequently. I hope that I don't have any side-effects either, a friend turned into a screaming banshee when she was on CLomid - to the point where they have decided that, now they have a ds, they aren't going down that route again.

I also had an internal scan when I was being diagnosed. I found it to be more physically uncomfortable than a smear as the probe is quite big and they move it about a bit, but it was less embarassing somehow because, once the probe is in, the sonographer is looking at the screen - not up your wotsit!

Good luck with the scan and the Clomid

buttercupbabe · 30/07/2007 12:53

Hi babytalk. I'm on my 2nd cycle of clomid also 50mg. I've noticed that on the days I take the tablets I don't sleep very well - but that's the only side effect I've noticed. I had a scan last cycle. It's to basically check that you are producing follicles (and not too many). Mine was an internal scan - but I don't think everywhere neccesarily does internal ones. Good luck!

babytalk · 30/07/2007 12:26

Hi, I am new to this site. I am on my first round of taking clomid, I have been taking it for 4 days now, I am on 50mg, I have had no side effects. is this usual or have I all this to come to me?

I came off the pill a year ago and since my periods have been irregular and all over the place, longest cycle has 57 days!!! Have had blood tests done, I am ovulating, why no babies? my last cylce was 32days!

Have a pelvic scan in 10 days time, nervous as I don;t know what happens, can anyone help?

No-one I know has had any problems and all my mates are either pregnant or mothers! Hard to talk to them about it!

It would be good to hear from you!

(blush)

Hi ladies

Started taking Provera this morning so, the ball is truely rolling and I'm getting excited - but still trying to keep myself under control

Hope everyone is OK and keeping positive.

flosspot · 25/07/2007 17:30

Awen- hello- glad to hear you are well. Hope the summer goes OK for you and beanie.

All- hope you are well, and making what fun you can from the sucky weather. Told DH was seriously considering IVF last night as he has been away for nearly six weeks. I suck at not being pregnant!

Hi, can I join.

It took me 4 years and about 10 cycles of 100mg Clomid to get pregnant. I lost that baby at 13 weeks. A year later and another 6 months of 150mg Clomid plus one cycle of IUI and I conceived DS, now 1. We're starting to feel like it's time to try for another baby (are we nuts? this one still isn't sleeping through...) so not on Clomid yet, but expect I will be soon. I never had much in the way of side-effects, maybe a few hot flushes at night. But this time I'm stil breastfeeding so worried that will conflict with Clomid. If I can't do both I don't know what I'll do - DS really not ready to stop bfing (nor me). Anyway, will cross that bridge when I come to it. But I'm another Clomid success story, although I did need IUI as well the second time.

Not really monitored at all at the moment.....Attila would be appalled.

hi padfoot, when i first went on clomid for my first baby i had a consulatation with my gynae after two months but no scans (this was a private gynae). at first i was given 50mg dose of clomid. then bupa stopped covering me for treatment so after three months in total with my private gynae i went on the nhs. my nhs gynae upped the dose to 100mg and i was given follicular tracking after two months on clomid and i got pregnant that month.

when i next go on clomid (im waiting for my first appt with my gynae to come through the post) im definately going to make sure i go through follicular tracking. im so lucky becuase i saw my son literally when he was first conceived becuase i was having daily internal scans from day 12 for two weeks and the nurses told me to write that month off becuase my follicles werent getting smaller to indicate that i had ovulated but that was becuase i was pregnant.

BUTTERCUP: my london private gynae charged 180 a consulation and that never lasted more than 15ninsw. thank god bupa paid for the consulations. i cant remember how much scans were but they were expensive.

Padfoot · 16/07/2007 14:56

(nomoremagnolia here with a HP name)

hi ladies - can I ask you how well monitored you are on clomid? I have been given 6 months supply with no monitoring (as far as I'm aware), but have read that you should be monitored? I have to go to GP for a day 21 blood test in first cycle with clomid to show ov, but apart from that I've not been told anything else. I have been given the number for the women's health nurses if I want to ask anything but should I be worried about the lack of doctor (either gynae or GP) monitoring? Getting myself all worried about it now!

flosspot · 16/07/2007 14:39

Don' know what to suggest Ellabell, other than check with your consultant. That's very strange.....

Buttercup- know what you mean about being frustrated. I really feel I am gettine nowhere with my consulting team, and am planning on going to GP to get new referral. Quite frankly if you have only taken one dose of 50mg Clomid, I'd take 100 tomorrow, but that's just me. I'm frustrated and fed up and, crucially, not a doctor....maybe you should check with GP????

Hi all

Just starting my second cycle of clomid 50mg. I was prescribed it for a short luteal phase - I start bleeding after only 8 high temps. The first month made no difference and the gynae refuses to up my dosage as he said my progesterone levels were excellent. I'm now so cheesed off. He refuses to acknowledge my charts - despite the fact that they show a pattern that I always bleed 8 days past ovulating. Think we're going to go go down the route of going private. Can anyone tell me how much a private consultaion is?
I started on 50mg last night, I guess it's too late to up it to 100mg isn't it?

MamaMaiasaura · 16/07/2007 12:49

meant to take clomid once AF started, not before afaik.

ellabell · 16/07/2007 12:42

Yes! Meant to take days 3-7 of cycle started clomid then AF came on the following day

flosspot · 16/07/2007 08:47

Ellabell- what is it you need to know? Did you start clomid then get af?

OP posts:
MamaMaiasaura · 15/07/2007 22:17

flosspot.. can i very quietly say that is what happened with me

ellabell · 15/07/2007 18:14

Sorry to hijack thread but I have a clomid question. On cycle 1 (ttc number 3 both other two concived using clomid), had blood test on day 22 of cycle not ovulating, saw doc at hosp few days ago, he did not repeat bloods as have seen him before and knew my history. Anyway started me straight away on clomid and AF has arrived (meant to take tabs days 3-7 of cycle) now I'm confused!

flosspot · 15/07/2007 10:33

Hello all- deeply fed up. No sign of af, no sign of anything. Tried to wait for as long as poss then tested. BFN. Bugger.

And we were outbid on a house. Ad my mother is staying with me. Did I mention I was fed up?????

wizzywig · 13/07/2007 20:31

thanks kneazle for the info, i have kind of regular periods (sort of every 40/50 days) but i dont ovulate so i might ask my doc if provera would be good for me. clomid turned me into the incredible hulk so i dont think that taking any more hormones will make much difference!!

kneazlechick · 13/07/2007 12:29

Whoops - still got my Harry Potter name on!! This is tigerschick in disguise

kneazlechick · 13/07/2007 12:29

Hi wizzywig. Provera induces the hormone that makes you have a period. (sorry, brain a bit mushy so can't remember which one it is) You take it if you don't have regular periods because you have to take Clomid on the 2nd day of your cycle. So, for someone like me, who has about 3 periods a year, they give you provera to kick start your cycle. It can be used for lots of things, but that's why I've been given it. HTH

wizzywig · 13/07/2007 12:22

hi tigerschick! is provera the contraceptive injection or is it something else? what does it do? i might ask for it when i go to my gynaecologist.

tigerschick · 12/07/2007 17:01

Hi ladies. So glad I found this thread.

I've got 1 dd, 16 mo, who was conceived naturally but took +3yrs. So this time we decided to seek help and this morning I have been given 1 course of provera and 3 courses of clomifene. It's odd that I've only been given 1 provera as I have PCOS and so don't have regular periods, so if I don't catch this cycle I'll have to go back for another course of provera!

Ah well. I can't start for a couple of weeks but thought I'd register on this thread now and keep an eye on things here
