Anyone else fresh off the pill!?

Hi ladies!
As my DH and i habe decided to TTC I took the last pill in my packet on 17th December and had my breakthrough bleed start on the 22nd and end on the 26th. Now the wait begins to see whether my cycle snaps back to normal and of course whether I concieve! I had been on microgynon for circa 3 years.

Is anyone else in a similar position and entering 2019 pill free!? I thought this would be a good place to track and share our experiences as they happen!

Hi @bea179! Welcome to the chat 😄

PumpkinsMum18 · 30/12/2018 20:48

@MiaMoo I guess you take it when you come off contraception..... I might sound naive but how can you be off contraception and NOT be actively TTC? Or do you mean use the natural cycle technique etc until you are ready to TTC?

bea179 · 30/12/2018 20:46

Hi everyone can I join? Grin
I took my last Cerelle pill on 23rd Nov. Had a period last week, so TTC from now really. Have been taking Boots conception vitamins since October.
Hoping 2019 is our year!

peachypetite · 30/12/2018 20:45

I've been taking folic from Superdrug

Arewethereyet19 · 30/12/2018 20:28

@pumpkinsmum18 I have been taking folic acid and vitamin D too. I have an underactive thyroid so was worried that the pregnacare would interfere with my medication (some vitamins do) and my doctor told me folic acid and vitamin D are fine.

I started taking them as soon as I stopped taking my pill just in case I conceived quickly.

cindersrella · 30/12/2018 20:21

Apparently or should I say when I was trying for mine I read that you were best starting to take folic acid 3 months prior to trying for a baby... I started taking them with my first 3 months prior as I had miscarried my pregnancy before that was not planned..

With my second I started trying and taking folic acid at the same time.

MiaMoo007 · 30/12/2018 20:16

PumpkinsMum with folic acid, do you need to start taking it when you're actively TTC or as soon as you come off contraception?

whatsthecraic91 · 30/12/2018 19:06

I haven’t got any yet but I am planning on taking folic acid and vitamin D, I agree about the pregnacare ones they are a gimmick I think!!

PumpkinsMum18 · 30/12/2018 18:57

Are any of you taking any vitamins while TTC? I have bought some folic acid tablets as that’s reccomended by NHS to take during conception/early pregnancy.

I just got the Boots cheap ones as Pregnacare etc seemed very expensive for what it is!!

peaky297 · 30/12/2018 17:07

Arewethereyet19 ... glad I'm not the only one having the odd emotional.wobble! I do generally feel much happier though. It's like the clouds have lifted!

Peaky297 I cried today because I came home from shopping and DP told me he didn't like tacos haha it's definitely a roller coaster!

Ps. I have changed my username from hunny85 - sorry for any confusion! Ha

peaky297 · 29/12/2018 22:58

Hi ladies. Can I join? Hubby and I are planning to start TTC in Feb/March. Been on the pill 11years (!) So hoping all is ok when I stop (planning to finish mid Feb). I don't want to be pressured or stressed when trying but I'm also worried it will take agesss to get pregnant. Let's hope all goes well for us all! Smile

Username28 · 29/12/2018 22:16

Hey! I finished the pill at the beginning of October and I've got no idea what's going on! One cycle was 28 days and second was 55!! I hope they arnt always going to be this long it's sooo much waiting!
I'm on cd12 at the moment so doing opks (negative) and dtd, so could be another 2 week's of doing this :(
I'm using ovia but as I put in my regular cycles were 28 days at the beginning, it still says it will be that long again, but should I be aiming for an average between 28 days and 55 days?
So confusing! I don't think it helps that I've gained a ton of weight either, January will deffo be a detox month!

MrsP4 · 29/12/2018 20:52

Your periods will come don't worry I got my dates mixed up on my last post I'm on CD27 and AF arrived this afternoon so my last two cycles have been 27 days so I think that's my norm can't remember what they were before the pill as I was young but probably around the same.

peaky297 · 29/12/2018 19:51

Thanks for all your responses ladies... it's always nice to be able to speak to others who are in the same boat!
Totally agree with the whole feeling better thing... I used to have days where I would just feel enraged, anxious and irritated at everything for no reason, but I've felt much happier in the last week. That being said, I have felt a bit emotional today for no reason but it is probably due to the hormones settling down and I look forward to more of the happiness!!

@MrsP4 completely agree about feeling so much better being off my pill. My symptoms since coming off mine are very similar and still waiting for my 2nd period to get more of an idea of my cycle.

boodles101 · 29/12/2018 11:15

I am using an app called Ovia, taking period and any symptoms. I do use OPKs aswell due to my husband working alot. I got a positive on CD13 this month so I know when I should expect AF/BFP

MrsP4 · 29/12/2018 10:19

Hi just thought I'd jump on here, I stopped taking my pill at the end of September after my wedding, first cycle was 30 days second was 27 days and currently on my third on CD 28 took a test on Xmas day and yesterday and both were BFN, so just waiting now for AF to show, the first two cycles I had every symptom going and I think it was to do with hormones all over the place Sore/sensitive nipples was the worst one, I've been on the pill for 10 years 8 on microgynon 2 on dianette, and before I went on the pill I never had symptoms before AF just cramps when I was on that's it, but since being off I've noticed I get a few twinges a few days before AF, my skin has been amazing but it was anyway for the last two years being on dianette, I've noticed that I feel a hell of a lot better being off the pill, didn't realise whilst on it but It actually made me feel really low, moody and depressed, I'm on cycle 3 now and I know that I'm ovulating as I've been tracking usingOPKS but nothing has happened as of yet, I know everyone is different in regards to getting cycles back I still don't know how long my cycles are as one was 30 day and one 27, but also you don't need to have a period to ovulate so start using OPKS, I can't remember how long my cycles were before going on the pill as I was 16 and it was never something I used to take notice of back then 🙈

peachypetite · 29/12/2018 09:26

Are you using apps to track? I had just made a note of when my last period on the pill started on my phone.

boodles101 · 29/12/2018 09:25

I'm the same as hunny85 took my last pill in November, had breakthrough bleed then period came back 30 days later in December. It was a bit painful but other than that I've had no other symptoms or side effects of stopping.

Zoeox · 29/12/2018 07:29

Joining in with this. Took my last pill almost 5 weeks ago now, but as of yet no bleeding or anything. Feeling disappointed as just want to be normal and I'm getting neg tests so no it's not for that reason.

peachypetite · 28/12/2018 23:23

I've recently stopped taking mine and my skin is awful!

Hunny85 · 28/12/2018 23:19

@whatsthecraic91 I was exactly the same - the main things I have noticed was my period was a bit painful and my boobs where so tender - skin wise I have noticed no difference and weight wise has stayed pretty much the same too.

Obviously everyone is different but think I had more mood swings when I was on the pill than off it haha

VicT1984 · 28/12/2018 23:18

Hello!

I’m a fresh off the pill gal! TTC #3, been nearly 9 years since I’ve been pregnant!

Took my last pill (Cerazette) on the 20th December, DTD on that night, had a withdrawal bleed 24th to the 27th and now the wait until a real period comes but will resume DTD when hubby has got over the flu just in case I ovulate.
