@Keyboard91 Aww what a lovely thing for him to say, bless him! Its things like looking at baby clothes that make things feel so real, like goodness we are actually trying. Sounds like a lovely day :) I definitely think the McDonald's bribery could work when I need to traipse DH around baby shops 😂

Random2468 · 30/12/2018 19:19

Well on the topic of cervix position.....!! Just wondering - I know it's meant to go high and open and soft with ovulation.. but what sort of time scales are we talking for these changes to occur? Because normally I ovulate on CD 20 but I'm expecting messed up cycles post MMC in October (this is only my 2nd cycle post) and today my cervix is high and soft on CD 12 (unsure open/closed as always feels same) but was thinking either that just happens this far in advance of ovulation (i.e 8 days before) or could it be that I'm going to ovulate early this month?! Sorry for this complete rambling that probably makes no sense at all! Whhhhy can't I just relax and leave it up to fate why am I constantly thinking about this stuff! Argh!

Jessikka · 30/12/2018 18:53

@cupcakesandglitter
Mine hasn't moved from high at all! I'm pretty sure it was high before my withdrawal bleed too so it hasn't moved. Though it's opened slightly and I finally started noticing a change in cm two days ago.
I'm staying to think mine just enjoys staying high... hmm I'm 6 foot tall so maybe my entire body just likes height?!?! who knows lol!

Keyboard91 · 30/12/2018 18:49

@TrashKitten10 haha! See I thought that would be a threat! And I thought my DP was reluctant! The deal was I got him a McDonald’s so I did and didn’t mention anymore baby stuff. We got home, sorted out a few bits etc and then we dtd as he had to go to work at 4pm. He said after it was perfect way to end a really romantic day together! I was shocked! All we did was buy some sale bits at dunelm, the mothercare trip and a weekly shop ha!

cupcakesandglitter · 30/12/2018 18:48

@Jessikka I'm the same as you - so my WFH days/travelling days have really different wake up times, so temping didn't work for me at all because my chart was all over the place!! I personally would recommend it because mine didn't show anything x

Just checked my cervix and it's suuuuper soft and high up. Don't know what's going on 😂 x

TrashKitten10 · 30/12/2018 18:42

@stormtrooperjulian Another house waiting for babies! Though I haven't gone as far as @Keyboard91 and bought anything, I have been fantasy nursery planning haha. DH just muttered about how he hopes I don't want the paint colour changing as he's only just painted that room. Next time he mutters, I'll tell him he should count himself lucky he's not being taken to mothercare and taught all about prams! Grin

Jessikka · 30/12/2018 18:39

@thosethreewords
I have read about charting my temps and for 4/5 days I believe I could do it - I'm fortunate enough to work from home 3 out of 4 days so I wake up around 7 and that's great, but Thursdays I'm Office Based and I wake up at 5am so I think it would throw my consistency off maybe? Plus I'm a lazy mare on a weekend lol!

I have bought some OPKs but I think I will wait until Af has been and I'm in an actual sync... because I don't know when I will really ovulate I don't know when to test for the surge if that makes sense.

thosethreewords · 30/12/2018 18:29

@Jessikka - ask away!!
To begin with, Ovia and FF will predict your FW based off the most common/ typical pattern of a [28 day] cycle. Everyone's cycle is unique to them though so it will adapt as you put in more information.
I've started charting only this month!
So I had the mirena coil out and charted from there. Out on the Monday, period on Wednesday and I ovulated CD12. I think FF predicted it would be on CD14. I used temps and OPKs to get a more accurate prediction.

The way to predict it would be to start OPKs (if you want to) to measure your luteinising hormone surge (12-72 hrs preceding ovulation).
You can also go off CM and cervix position to look at your most fertile window. (as I found it correlated well with OPKs, and later my temperature).
That may or may not have helped 😂

Jessikka · 30/12/2018 18:27

Hahahaha sorry guys - I really am tired.

Those are the same bloody dates essentially.

What on Earth was I thinking?

Apologies; I will double check in future!

Jessikka · 30/12/2018 18:22

Ladies I've see a few mentions of Fertility Friend so I am having a look at it now but I just have one Q if that's ok; though answer may be obvious but I'm claiming fatigue ha!

Obviously having only stopped the pill 2 weeks ago I'm not in my proper cycle but atm my "cycle" seems to be mimicking a 28 day cycle like it's been for years (on the pill)... so I have added my cycle as 28 and just reminding myself it may be off this month.

Ovia has my fertile window starting on the 4th Jan with Ov being 8th. My CM has definitely started to alter and i noticed my cervix has moved from closed to medium and is getting softer so I believe I'm headed in the correct direction....

However FF has my FW as starting the 3rd and Ov on the 6th. Which is only one week after withdrawal bleed whilst Ovia is 2.

Have you had this? sorry for the essay!

cupcakesandglitter · 30/12/2018 18:19

@starkid @DuchessofPemberley happy birthday!! X

Hey @stormtrooperjulian I'm good thanks 😊 still no AF, tested this morning and BFN as usual and another stupid indent in the plastic too 😂 I have one FRER left, I'm going to try and not use it tomorrow morning but easier said than done 😂

Hi @Jessikka and any other newbies I've missed! Xx

Ahh @KittieKath I think it can take a while for them to understand. My DH was the same but actually now he's getting that it doesn't just happen straightaway - he woke up this morning, looked at my BFN and then told me all these websites that recommend waiting a week after missed AF and all the stats etc etc... they just don't get it like we do!! Xx

@Keyboard91 glad you made the most of the sale, baby stuff is still quite expensive!! And neutrals are sensible anyway ;) xx

19Bee2 · 30/12/2018 18:03

@Jessikka You have a deal - healthy Jan it is (with more incentive this year than previous years!)

I have been the same today, @Keyboard91 I took advantage of a long car journey today to trap my husband into helping me make a '2019 to sort' list of the many places in our house that need work - basically all of them! I always feel this way at New Year but it feels SO good to sort through things.

KatBeCool · 30/12/2018 17:46

@Jessikka I'm with you, better nobody try to take away my chocolates and pastries, heads will fly. Welcome to the group.

stormtrooperjulian · 30/12/2018 17:45

Welcome @19bee2 and @ttc12019 and @Jessikka lots of newbies for ttc in 2019!

@FlapJackered that temp sounds like a good sign, fingers crossed it goes up tomorrow too!

@MrsLBear I’ve got the Clearblue one in my amazon basket now ready to order at the end of this cycle (am still holding out hope that this one works)

@DuchessofPemberley FRER indents are such a pain! When is your af due?

@TrashKitten10 @19Bee2 we bought a big house this year, just need to fill it with babies now! It needs so much work doing on it though, will be starting that it the new year.

@cupcakesandglitter hope you’re doing ok, have you tested again yet?

starkid · 30/12/2018 17:25

@DuchessofPemberley - Happy birthday Smile It's mine too, birthday twins!
Fx if you test in a couple of days time it may be a bfp.

I'm only 7dpo so definitely not tested! Going to test next Friday if AF hasn't turned up yet, as will be past my usual 11 day luteal phase :)

Keyboard91 · 30/12/2018 17:01

@TrashKitten10 definite bargain ... but they are now in a bag at the bottom of the stairs and I’m scared to look in the bag and put it away on my own (!)

@thosethreewords I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to buy a prom - even if it was a bargain! It’s not easy to hide so you don’t see it everyday....

Welcome @Jessikka :) we are a lovely group of ladies to support you through the ups and downs :) I take boots brand pregnancy vitamins and a vit D + calcium supplement as I don’t get enough calcium. I’ve switched from my old multivitamin because I’ve read you shouldn’t take a supplement with vitamin A in it. Tracking cycles on Ovia etc will be helpful. Track symptoms and cervical mucus. You can opk or temp in addition if you’d like. I have OPKs but haven’t used as I’m worried I’ll get too ‘we need to dtd NOW’ to my DP ha!

@19Bee2 everyone drinks over Christmas! Dry January might be a good one to get you back on the TTC low alcohol intake bus. Won’t be such a shock when you get your BFP and have to stop that way.

Glad it’s all sounding positive @MrsEG FX for you!

I’ve had a sudden urge to go through all my kitchen cupboards. Took me 90 minutes but the cupboards are all pretty and organised :) think I’m going to tackle our bedroom next. Everything is just TOO CLUTTERED!

Jessikka · 30/12/2018 16:50

@19Bee2 ahh alcohol isn't a major factor in my life! I can go a while without it very easily but if you try to take away my chocolates and takeaways I will break your fingersSmile ha!
I'm going to make an effort to try and forgo them in Jan as I just realised I've put on a stone over 7 months so I'm now out of my healthy weight so I need to keep an eye on that!
Perhaps we can both do our own versions of dry Jan hehe!

Though I am more than happy to give up wine atm; I was in a restaurant on 28th (10 days after stopping pull and day after withdrawal ended) and had two cocktails and one glass of red and was throwing it up Sad

I never normally react like that but that has made me scared now lol!

19Bee2 · 30/12/2018 16:46

HI @Jessikka I learnt so much from starting tracking my cycles. I did track on Clue before but found Fertility Friend useful not only for charing temps but tracking other symptoms and being able to see any patterns across a month really easily.

A worrying pattern over November and December has been how often I drink - rarely large amounts but frequent glasses especially during the festive season makes it so easy! I planned to cut right back when TCC anyway but think I may go whole god and do Dry January. Is anyone else doing it?

Jessikka · 30/12/2018 15:49

@thosethreewords I am currently taking folic acid every day so will look into the others! Thankyou!

thosethreewords · 30/12/2018 15:44

@Jessikka the great thing is you can choose to do as much or Little as you want to.
One thing is to start on vitamins now - multivitamins (e.g pregnacare either the preconception or pregnancy ones) but more specifically vitamin D and folic acid. Anything else is extra!
I decided to jump right in and chart with OPK and temp because I've been on contraception in one form or another for 15 years.

MrsLBear · 30/12/2018 15:42

@KittieKath that's really interesting. I get exactly the same every month but tbf I do get it all month round it just seems to be worse when af is here. Which is also why I know I'm out cos I've got it again more badly atm so she's round the corner. Where do you put the cream?
I see what you mean, it would kill you if you felt like you are responsible for something like that. I'm quite forgetful and if my routine changes I forget things for example I'm away atm and I've barely been taking my baby meds cos I'm not in my usual pattern.

@thosethreewords that's so funny my DH was the same really. I just tell him a few white lies so he doesn't ask me cos my mind is dangerous enough without him checking if I am. Thank you!

Welcome @Jessikka! Oh you will learn so much about your body that you didn't know. It's a minefield. And also tends me be different every month which of course is really helpful!!

Jessikka · 30/12/2018 15:29

@thosethreewords thankyou Smile
I'm currently in what I've nicknamed my "lost stage".
I took my last combined pill on 17th and had my withdrawal bleed a week later on Xmas Eve so because I haven't had my real AF yet I'm sort of just plodding along and learning! I've learnt SO MUCH from these forums in the past two weeks!
Currently trying to write down symptoms on Ovia so I can check back next month. I've had some aches and pains in my lower left pelvic area over last 24hrs and for some reason my vagina feels as though it's been pulsating today - that's been annoying! but it's all a learning a curve Smile

thosethreewords · 30/12/2018 15:23

@MrsLBear I've not temped before so this is a first for me! I'm just surprised by how much it has risen. I'm not so much hoping it means anything but maybe it does!
FX for your test tomorrow 🤞
@Keyboard91 aww! So cute! DH wants to order a pram in the sales but I've banned him. Bless. He keeps asking if I know if I'm pregnant yet!! I think he just assumes it will happen straight away... he should know better since he's a doctor!
@Jessikka welcome aboard! FX you get your BFP soon!!

Jessikka · 30/12/2018 14:24

Hello!

I'm new to this forum and have just started to try ttc #1 2 weeks ago; can I join you ladies :)

KittieKath · 30/12/2018 14:24

@mrslbear I am the queen of self-diagnosis and will pay for anything goggle suggests I may need... so take this info with a pinch of salt! But I noticed my skin was worse in the second half of my cycle (hormonal acne around my mouth and chin) and low progesterone can be cause of this. So from day 14 onwards I use the cream to boost my progesterone a little.

The luteal phase is when progesterone levels are highest, and when they drop this signals and triggers the start of AF. You have to be very careful not to stop using the cream if you are pregnant as it can bring on AF or early MC.

To be honest, i think I might stop using it as I don’t want to be dependent on it in case something like this happens again and I end up without it at a critical times. I have heard it can help beans to stick, but I read a lot of shit on the internet.

I was so upset yesterday, as my DP was cooking Christmas dinner for his side of the family. And he said I am already doing superstitious “rain dances” to try and have a baby, and that we should just try naturally for a few months and then if it doesn’t happen, try all my weird stuff and see a doctor then.... he thinks I am panicking a bit prematurely. But wow, I really want a baby!
