Pregnant after vascetomy?

ExH had this done 6 years ago and for 3 years we were together. No contraception and it was fine.

We separated for 3 years after that and we had no sexual contact.

We started sleeping together again recently and my period is 5 days late.

I've felt like it was starting for a week now but nothing.

Is it possible?I feel like I'm being silly but am still worried

The emu made me 🤣lol

WishingIDidnot · 08/12/2018 18:17

Ostrich. Not emu 😂😂

WishingIDidnot · 08/12/2018 18:16

I already said I'm late from when I'm due. I don't really want to test.

I'm hoping I'll just start. Yes I'm being an emu but from what I've read it's unlikely I will be Pg.

Although before his vascetomy I got pregnant my first cycle of trying with all my children.

Have you been stressed? You might be more stressed about what’s happening with him now than you realise.

I’ve missed the odd one from time to time, it’s generally been stress.

Fingers crossed that’s all it is.

physicskate · 08/12/2018 18:03

To be fair, I used to teach reproduction and didn't know about static luteal phase length until I started ttc myself... wouldn't call it common knowledge exactly! And I didn't know you could track when ovulation happens and this determine exactly when af would come, even though my cycles were generally a bit wonky...

But maybe I'm just dumb??

Thesearmsofmine · 08/12/2018 18:00

No need to be nasty is there Tiredteacherlass

Isadora2007 · 08/12/2018 17:58

I don’t know how you can wait it out. Test!!!!

Tiredteacherlass · 08/12/2018 17:56

Fab... so you'll know when you ovulated and then know which day your period will start. Get a test then.

Oh and no need to be snarky...i mean I didn't point out that unprotected sex with a man is as unwise idea.... he might have had a vasectomy but you don't know if he's picked up a nasty little std in the last 3 years. All the best.

WishingIDidnot · 08/12/2018 12:49

Only on Mumsnet could a woman be told she doesn't know her own bodily cycle.

OP posts:
Thesearmsofmine · 08/12/2018 12:45

All women are different, some have periods like clockwork, others may have more variation. I know when my period is due, sometimes it might be one or two days over but any longer than that I would consider myself as being late. I don’t see the need for questioning OP on this.

OP you just need to do a test and then you will know and can either saw phew(most likely) or make a decision on how to proceed. And make your DP have his tests!

dementedpixie · 08/12/2018 12:38

My cycle is around 25 days but in June it was 51 days for no reason.

WishingIDidnot · 08/12/2018 12:36

I am a mother of 3 children and I am well aware how my cycle works and when my period is due, although I am not TTC I do recognise my ewcm and ovulation pains and I know my luteal phase times thank you. Hmm

Tiredteacherlass · 08/12/2018 12:14

You do realise that cycles can vary in length surely? You can ovulate later when then knocks on the rest of the cycle

WishingIDidnot · 08/12/2018 11:59

We had 3 years of unprotected sex with no issue.

How do I know I'm late? Because I'm an adult woman and I know the date my period is due each month Confused

Tiredteacherlass · 08/12/2018 11:23

How do you know you are late... are you tracking ovulation?

DrDreReturns · 08/12/2018 11:17

Yep I was tested three times after my vasectomy before I got the all clear. Though I guess you were having unprotected sex with him before you split up so it's still a bit of a mystery.

Thesearmsofmine · 08/12/2018 10:25

Why on earth didn’t he get tested after? When you have a vasectomy they tell you to use contraception until you have been tested.

When my DH was tested the first time his sperm count was still too high and he had to go back again six months later, it was made very clear to us that we must use contraception until he had been given the all clear.

WishingIDidnot · 07/12/2018 23:27

Not really. I don't want to test so it won't feel like a wait. I want AF to turn up!
I thought all this shite was behind me

Starlight456 · 07/12/2018 23:25

Will be a long weekend . I would trst

WishingIDidnot · 07/12/2018 23:23

I'm going to give it a few more days. If not on by Monday I will test.

OP posts:
WishingIDidnot · 07/12/2018 23:22

He never got tested.

I assumed because we had 3 years with no issues it was ok.

I've not slept with any other men, ever Blush

Have you been unwell or anything recently? That can throw your periods out of whack. But yes, only real way to know is do a test.

FannyAndMoonFace · 07/12/2018 21:31

I suppose you'll need to test to know for sure! Good luck OP.
