We’re almost at the limit on thread no.8 so I thought I’d start a new one before that one fills up

@cupcakesandglitter @MrsLBear @MrsEG @Crossfitgirl @MrsR16 @FlapJackered @stormtrooperjulian @DuchessofPemberley thank you, I’m really pleased with the penguins! The royal icing is done and drying (gone for thick ‘snow style’) so will take a pic once it’s all finished this week! They weren’t too difficult to make from fondant, just needed some patience! Headphones were on and was good to focus on something creative :D

@DuchessofPemberley I get up at different times too, depending if I’m working from home when I take advantage of the extra time in bed, or if I’m heading in to the office etc. I have CFS which is largely under control thankfully, but I do make sure if I know I’ve ‘overdone’ it that I give myself the rest and recovery time sooner to prevent the payback. The Fertility Friend app recommends not ‘correcting’ the data though. As long as you do it first thing when you wake up you should still be able to spot a trend along with your other observations :)

@MrsAW2018 sorry to hear about the BFN, when is AF due? We’ve been trying since our wedding in June too so totally get how frustrating it is. Sending virtual hugs.

@DayDreamer1707 sorry to hear, keep looking after yourself. A friend had a MC when they were trying for their second, and they had one cycle then conceived again the 2nd month and went on to have a healthy 9 months. They are lucky though in that they seem to think about getting pregnant and it just happens!!

AF is due for me Saturday, currently on CD7. No differences compared to every other month on the TWW except for really sore nipples for a while yesterday, almost like being stabbed! Sometimes get sensitive boobs so expect its just my hormones making that worse than normal because it can…! This is the 6th ‘proper’ cycle, 7 if I include the first few weeks off the pill before first real period.

MrsEG · 17/12/2018 11:28

@MrsAW2018 Oh my god, if I could get the £ back I’ve spent on FRERs this year I’d be bloody rich..... I am due AF either Xmas day or Boxing Day, I’m gonna test Xmas day morning just so I know if I can get pissed or not!!! Our family know we are trying as they knew about our MC in October so we could just tell them if it was good news, rather than everyone raising eyebrows if I refuse the Prosecco!

MrsAW2018 · 17/12/2018 11:22

@MrsEG I'm onto my last FRER now! They're so expensive 🤦🏼‍♀️! Ooh good luck! When are you planning to test?

MrsEG · 17/12/2018 11:16

@MrsAW2018 See if it comes tomorrow and if not I would test again. You’re not out just yet :) I am still in my 2WW, 5dpo now and counting down the days! Keeping myself busy with Xmas prep to take my mind off it all :)

@DayDreamer1707 To be honest, I’m never really sure what smears are checking for outside of cervical cancer cells. If AF/your cycle is all over the place maybe worth chatting to your GP for some help? I would definitely stick with the OPKs too to give you some help in understanding what’s going on in there!

MrsAW2018 · 17/12/2018 10:57

@MrsEG thanks lovely. AF was due over the weekend so god knows why it hasn't come yet. One of the apps say it might come tomorrow but according to my LP it should have been over the weekend. How are you getting on? X

@DayDreamer1707 it's horrible isn't it😞 got my fingers crossed that we all get our BFPs in 2019! X

DayDreamer1707 · 17/12/2018 10:50

@MrsEG I think my cycles are pretty all over the place to be fair even before my MC. Not really sure what to do. If I had any issues they would of noticed when I've been for scans and smears right? I've seen that you can ovulate quite early so just have to see x.

@MrsAW2018 it's horrible when you see the BFN. FX we get lucky over Christmas x

TTC FIRST BABY - THREAD NO. 9
MrsEG · 17/12/2018 10:45

@stormtrooperjulian Will keep my FX for you. Has AF arrived yet?

@MrsAW2018 So sorry to hear about your BFN. Is AF definitely due/late? It’s really hard - we started trying June too, and so badly wanted to be pg before the end of the year. But January is another month! I will keep everything crossed for you, and hope you have a lovely xmas to try and take your mind off it.

@DayDreamer1707 So sorry hun. I really hope your body settles down soon and that you get that BFP quickly in the new year.

00kitty · 17/12/2018 09:58

Anyone else feel anxious, I think a baby is what I want (have 1 child age 12 - so very much starting again and obvs I'm 12 yes older) but one minute I feel desperate for it to happen and now I feel panicked that I might have conceived. I end up in a mess as don't know what's for the best.
In a loving relationship but he is older he is supportive either way but I know if I wasn't wanting one he certainly wouldn't be pushing for a newborn. Felt dilemma when I was pregnant last time so much so I didn't know what to do, lacked maternal instinct was skint and bad relationship (loved her immediately when she arrived) but now £ and stability and loving home not an issue yet seem to have same fear/anxiety - what if I get sick, what if baby unhealthy, what if I don't enjoy being a mother, signing up for another extra 12/13 yrs of parenthood, going back to work/childcare, effect on partner. I'm driving myself to despair to the point now not sure if to go out to get emergency contraception

MrsAW2018 · 17/12/2018 09:52

Sorry for the double post but think I'm out this month. Just did the FRER and it's a bfn. Devastated to be honest, really thought I'd be pregnant by Christmas (we started trying in June). Just want AF to arrive now so we can move on to cycle 7.

MrsAW2018 · 17/12/2018 09:26

Thanks @MrsLBear! My DH is generally quite good with it all but I feel like he's getting tired with me going on about it all the time. It's all I think about!

Just done an IC and it's a bfn... do I waste a FRER? 😩😢 it was bfn on Friday... do you think the results could have changed between then and now?

DayDreamer1707 · 17/12/2018 08:22

@MrsEG @FlapJackered @DuchessofPemberley I didn't think I was pregnant but was difficult actually seeing the BFN, especially as I should be pregnant at Christmas. I was told that i could try again as soon as I was told I can try again as soon as I had my first AF. Just got to give it more time I suppose. Just more annoyed that I may be ovulating so early too as that can't be good x

DuchessofPemberley · 17/12/2018 07:43

Work has been crazy so I haven’t been posting much, though I have been reading.

@Eltzbee I love the penguins! I wish I was that talented.

@Daydreamer1707 sorry to hear about the bfn. It can take a while to level out after a MC. Be kind to yourself xxx

Everything is going ok. My temperature charting is having mixed results. I need to get up at different times in the morning depending on how my medical condition is, so my Fertility Friend app is giving out to me for not doing it at the same time every day. Apparently my graph is more jagged than most people’s because of this but it can’t be helped. I haven’t ovulated yet so I’m hoping there’ll be a distinct difference in my chart despite the fluctuations.

I’m finding things ok at the minute, but this part of my cycle - after AF but before the TWW - is always the calm before the emotional storm. I’m hoping Christmas is a good distraction from it this month.

FlapJackered · 17/12/2018 07:39

@DayDreamer1707 I am sorry hun. At least you know now though. X

MrsEG · 17/12/2018 07:12

@DayDreamer1707 Sorry to hear that. It can take your body a little while to recover. Could you maybe go and chat to your GP just to answer any questions you have? My GP was brilliant after my MC. Big hugs to you Flowers

DayDreamer1707 · 17/12/2018 06:51

Morning ladies. Just done another cheap test and it's a BFN so my body is clearly still just messed up from the MC. Thinking I'm out this month already x

stormtrooperjulian · 16/12/2018 21:10

@EltzBee I love the penguins!

@MrsEG I’ll test again towards the end of the week if AF doesn’t show up. I’m pretty sure it’s just my body messing me around though.

@MrsLBear dtd today should cover you for the next couple of days anyway. I read that it’s better to have the sperm already waiting up there ready for ovulation so you should be good there if it happens in the next couple of days

@FlapJackered don’t push it if you’re not feeing it today, I think doctors recommend every 2-3 days so don’t worry about missing a day

@MrsLBear I use the one step cheapies, I wasn’t particularly rigorous with the testing this month so I’m not surprised I didn’t catch it really.
My boobs have started hurting today which is something that usually happens before af but I also have sore nipples, which I don’t usually get. I also just had (this is tmi and gross btw!) loads of yellow tinged ewcm, which is a bit random. Why can’t there just be a consistent pattern so we know what to expect Confused

Welcome back @MrsAW2018 👋🏼
Glad to hear you had a nice time and away from the TTC madness (well as much as humanly possible cos it really is ridiculously addictive)
Fx for you tomorrow!!!!!
Oh men are useless with stuff like this. I've taken the mute approach and literally don't tell my DH anything.
Ah that is the worst. I keep seeing people I went to school with announcing pregnancies on fb and it's a killer. Wanna block them all! (Not bitter or anything 👀👀👀)

MrsLBear · 16/12/2018 20:58

@FlapJackered that sounds so interesting! So many successes with it and quick ones too! Yes defs let me know how you get on!! I am 100% gonna look into getting some.
Well I'm just worried cos I O late that my LP is too short. Plus I've read it can affect the egg/lining. But who knows!
Really think that's the way to go sometimes. Go with the flow - which I know is so hard to do! And farrrrr easier said than done.

MrsAW2018 · 16/12/2018 20:54

Evening ladies, hope you've all had a lovely weekend.
We've just got back from our lovely weekend away in Scotland. I didn't take the HPTs with me in the end, I just wanted a weekend away to not think about it (ha like that was possible). I half expected my period to arrive yesterday or today (based on the 12 day LP I've had for the last few cycles) but it hasn't come🤔. So I'll be testing again tomorrow morning if it doesn't come during the night. My DH thought that The FRER I had that I was sure was an evap was a Bfn with no line anyway. I'm sure he's getting sick of me tbh with all this TTC malarkey tbh. One of my school friends (not friends with her anymore though) had a baby yesterday and it hurt so much because I always thought that I would be the first one out of my friendship group from school to have a baby😞. TTC sucks sometimes!!!

FlapJackered · 16/12/2018 20:46

@MrsLBear wise words! I think you're right, I might just see what happens and see if the mood changes!
They are Soy Isoflavones - I found this thread which is really encouraging - https://community.babycentre.co.uk/post/a12154345/bfpswithhsoyisoflavones.?cpg=1&csi=2066074503&pd=-6
but I have also seen people complain about them too, but I suppose you will get positives and negatives with most things.
I don't think ovulating late is terrible but I do wonder if it might mean there is a slight imbalance in hormones which this could help with. I will report back in January!

MrsLBear · 16/12/2018 20:27

@FlapJackered what are these pills called your talking about? I tried reading down but couldn't see the original post. They sound like something I can benefit from me - ovulating so late.
Have you read anywhere that it's detrimental to ovulate as late as we both seem to do?

MrsLBear · 16/12/2018 20:25

@stormtrooperjulian that's a good sign then! Have you had any af symptoms or anything? What OPKs do you use? It seems it can be missed so easily (o day I mean) it might be that you just missed it. This is the first month I've caught it - I had no luck previous months am cos it seems that if you are a day late sometimes you can completely miss it. Thanks bodies for being really easy to read.........

@FlapJackered I really think pushing to DTD when you don't really want to is (well for me) a massive fail. We did that the other week (ironically no where near o day so there was no need) and it was shit and made me feel shit too. Defeated the whole point of even DTD. We tried to DTD eod but as it got too much we decided to chill and just do it when we actually wanted to and the next night we just naturally did it and it was so much better - physically and mentally anyway. Everyone is different though and I do think it's got a lot to do with your partner too. Some men can be up and ready to go (no pun intended) at every opportunity. My DH hasn't got a crazy rabbit sex drive and I was always thankful he didn't until we started TTC. Also having done it Friday you're still in for a very good chance and tomorrow is another day. I just think do what your body says not what your chart says.
I'm gonna stop rambling now, excuse the essay.

FlapJackered · 16/12/2018 20:07

@Crossfitgirl Happy Birthday!!! 🎂🎉
That is funny about the temping thing. Well hopefully we will have it covered if we Dtd every other day. Although we are due to Dtd tonight and I am just not feeling it at the moment, and in the interest of keeping it chilled I'm not sure what to do about that as I don't want it to feel clinical this month. 🤷🏼‍♀️ tricky one!!
Here is the recipe for the tagine if you're interested!

@MrsEG well done on keeping it chilled! We have done well so far but now we know it is likely to be fertile time I think neither of us are in the mood! Not sure how to proceed now as I don't want it to feel forced and get stressful this month!

@cupcakesandglitter they are pills that encourage an increase in oestrogen I think! So can help mature and increase viable eggs is my understanding! There are amazing success stories using them. You take them at the beginning of the cycle. Most people say it brings ovulation forward a bit which would be good for me as I ov quite late. There have been a few threads with people saying it messed up their cycle but I asked my GP and she didn't seem worried, so I will give it a go! I can be the guinea pig for the thread!

@MrsLBear they are so good aren't they and so easy to make! Love Jamie!

@EltzBee those are amazing!!! I am making penguins for mine too but those are so cute!!

Crossfitgirl · 16/12/2018 19:54

Thanks @mrsr16 :-)
@mrsLbear ahh sounds like you've got it covered :-) I think I'll be just over 7 weeks at Chrismas, I can't believe how well it was timed. I homestly thought it would be next year or later... Fertility clinic appt would have been on the 31st!

MrsLBear · 16/12/2018 19:34

Haha my DH is the same @cupcakesandglitter @MrsR16 he literally has his hands over his eyes the whole time. I'm like oh man up will you 😂😂
There's gotta be a new season of it soon as well! I watched one of the first episodes the other day actually and OMG it looked so budget!! It's got so much better.

Happy birthday @Crossfitgirl! Hope you've had an amazing day!
Well we DTD today (sorry for tmi but I laid there with a pillow under my backside for a good while) but unfortunately I've got a 12 hour shift tomorrow so it's out of the question and then will hopefully DTD again Tuesday but tbf I feel like I'm so close to O as I can feel twinges etc etc. I really wanted to SMEP this month but I've settled for eod instead. Also love the idea of giving everyone those cards for Xmas. Will be such an amazing moment. Enjoy every second of it!!! Perfect timing or what. How far along will you be on Xmas day?
