Hoping I can offer some hope, in that I had my first DS at 42, conceived naturally (after a MMC a few months before) - didn't plan to leave it so late, just met my husband late in life. In the end, pregnancy was absolutely fine and though birth ended up in a c-section it wasn't the horror story we might all be led to believe! I'm now 44 and we're now trying for number 2, although I'm really scared about it, feel like we're really chancing our arm having been so lucky first time around

Thanka critter! I found some spray today in H & B. Going to start that today. Do you know if there is a difference between vit d & vit d3?
Just need to decide weather to start dhea today. Scared as don't want it to affect my cycle in anyway other than good

@Orchid222 - IIRC it was Zita West’s books where I first learned about it - she has quite a lot to say on the subject. I did some further research and found a fair bit of Info on it and the gist seemed to be (hopefully I’m remembering this right) that whilst vitamin D in a multi bit capsule is better than none, the problem with it is that naturally vitamin D is not supposed to pass through your stomach - it’s manufactured in the skin through the action of sunlight and stomach acids damage it. A liquid spray into the mouth will mean it’s almost instantly absorbed through the mucous membranes of the mouth and does not have to pass through the stomach. Hope this makes sense!

@Ladylorax welcome. Vitamin D is very important for egg quality and fertility in general. Deficiencies are also associated with miscarriage. Most people in the UK are deficient to some degree or other due to the lack of sunlight here and most normal multi-vitamins won’t contain enough to make a real difference to fertility. Also the vitamin D in a capsule is not as effective as the vitamin D your body should make naturally from sunlight - this is why sprays are better.

@Cleozeta - yes vitamin D spray is better than capsules - you spray it directly onto your tongue once per day. The Zita West store sells it.

Does anyone else ever get brown spotting before period? I've never had it before, but having it this cycle. Worried it's low progesterone thats why I'd like to start on the dhea

@Snowie3 I think I can see it. I did a FRER not using FMU and got a similar line. I'm now almost 5 weeks. Fingers crossed x

Hi ladies, period due today and just done a FRER, there is a faint line.

Does anyone know how important it is to use first morning pee? I did the test not long afterwards and so not sure if I'm just kidding myself or if it really matters.

I can try to post the picture, it's so faint so not very hopeful.

Ubiquinol is widely available, you can go somewhere like holland & barret or just get it online (cheaper!)
I've read recently that extra vit d is good, but not started it yet personally.

Helbelle - I've had the same. 2 mc since trying, but I have also been diagnosed as perimenopausal, so doing TCM which has helped (although not sure it did much this cycle as af 2 days early!)

Ladies who take dhea or have been to a clinic - I am really keen to start dhea but have my fertility check on 14th dec, should I hold off until after that? Would it affect anything? Or do you think its ok to just start now?

Thanks. I will look into those things. I've had 2 miscarriages- one before DD and one after. Each time I've managed to get pregnant on the 2nd cycle, but I don't seem to be able to hang onto the pregnancies that easily.

Sorry - another question. I've been taking multivitamin, not vitamin d on its own... should I be taking extra vitamin d?

Vit d spray? I was just about to go out and purchase vit d capsules today - would you say spray is better? What do you do with that?

Welcome Helbelle, for egg quality as well as ubiquinol I would recommend vit D spay, higher protein diet and fertility yoga. These things worked for me!

Loopy - a few of us have had cycles like that, thankfully it does seem to pass. The good news is if it is perimenopause, it could go on for years and has not much impact on your ability to conceive.

Welcome helbelle. For egg quality the most recommended thing is ubiquinol. (Expensive but apparently worth it)
