Hi @Floofsquidge - how are you doing?

I have to admit that since reading that leaflet my clinic gave me with those figures on it I’ve been too scared to do any kind of research into MC rates - I just try to take each day as it comes and tell myself I have a 50/50 chance of the working out!

Floofsquidge · 03/12/2018 21:47

@CritterTamer I'm not going to admit to how many times I've been on the site below over the last 3 months...! But it breaks it down by risk % per day, and can be personalised by age.

datayze.com/miscarriage-chart.php

CritterTamer · 03/12/2018 21:34

@Cleozeta - MC rate for over 40s is 51% i was told by my clinic. 80% for over 45s 😢

lii222 · 03/12/2018 19:00

Also sending a hug to you all going through this too. I keep trying to tell myself the only way is forward and I just have to be ready to deal with what comes because that’s what it takes, especially at this age.

lii222 · 03/12/2018 18:58

Yes, MMCs are totally awful. With my first they were never able to find a thing wrong with him or me. My life changed in a moment and I’ve never been the same person since. The second never really got going and I’ve not heard about this last one yet. I know it happens and just can’t always be explained. Ugh.
Going through all of this has made it hard to get my hopes up with each pregnancy. I’ve tried to just enjoy the moments I HAVE had with them and it also helps to hold the beautiful three I’m so fortunate to have already when the longing for one more gets very strong. The grief comes in waves.

Orchid222 · 03/12/2018 18:34

Welcome Lii222 and Mahotsukai and sorry about your mc's. As a group here we've had so many of them :( hopefully we'll all have better luck next time.

Yeah it is shit presh. I heard a heartbeat too, at 6+4, and I thought chances of mc after hearing hb were really low, so it was extra harsh. Also I'd just been diagnosed with high FSH and early perimenopause, so I thought it was my miricle baby.
Not to be.
But 1% is so false. From people on here and people I know in rl who have had them, I'd say it's more 25% or more

Presh12345 · 03/12/2018 14:33

MMC's are just shit. I had mine in June 2017 and nothing since. I was so excited to hear the heart at 5 weeks 4 days. I was back for another scan at 9w 4 d as I was being monitored closely....older and history of DVT. To be so excited about going in to see and hear baby to being told there is no heartbeat is crap. So so crap.

Cleozeta · 03/12/2018 14:06

People say chance of mmc is 1% (I read that in many places before I had mine) what a pile of crap!!

Rose68 · 03/12/2018 11:10

@mahotsukai, thank you. I am also so sorry to hear of yours, your situation does sound a little complicated at the moment, but fingers crossed it works out for you.
@lii222 welcome and also I’m so sorry to hear of your mmc’s. It seems so many of us are in the same boat with these mmc’s.

mahotsukai · 03/12/2018 09:39

Thank you for the messages.
This is my first time posting anywhere so its really nice to have a response :)

Hi @Rose68 I'm really sorry to hear about your MMC. Hopefully we will have good news stories to share sometime too xx

@Cleozeta Sorry to hear about your MMC in May. I'm also going to join the mission to improve egg quality. It sounds like lots of great info being shared here, so I'll start reading back. I need to check all my info again properly (I was keeping notes and using an app but not charting) but I think my LP hovers around 8-10 days.

@Helbelle75 I just wanted to say hi and that reading your first post on this really resonated with me, and that's why I joined!

@Iii222 I'm so sorry to hear about your MMC. I know what you mean about the feeling of a miracle and then to have it taken away. I'm hoping that there is another chance for everyone. Good luck.

My DD is desperate to be a sister, and has been for about 2 years now. It's very hard to manage when I'm hiding being so desperate myself! Role playing her ideal family can be quite emotional sometimes! She doesn't have any cousins (and no prospect of any either) and my family live in another country, and my partner's family are also overseas. My partner and I separated a year ago, but he has been cooperative with TTC number 2 (for me and DD) which I really appreciate, but also means that we are limited on DTD and I'm not sure how long he is prepared to go on for. (I am wondering whether considering IUI or similar might help our chances). It all feels very precarious.

I am still BF my DD and decided a while ago that I wouldn't wean her in order to conceive. It was a difficult decision, but it would have been very difficult to wean her, and with no guarantees of a baby to follow, so I decided to prioritise the needs of the child I do have, and allow us both to enjoy this precious time together.

I'm going to read back over the thread and start studying while I wait to see what my cycle does when it returns. Thanks everyone.

Presh12345 · 03/12/2018 08:24

So had my scan this morning. Have one big one on the right at 19 and one big one on left at 18.5 plus a few smaller ones at 16,14 and 10.
Iui Wednesday morning. Said my bloods all came back really good from Saturday so fingers crossed everything is good to go this time.
Hope everyone is well. How lovely would it be for some Christmas surprises xx

lii222 · 03/12/2018 07:02

I’d like to join as well; I had a MMC at 10 weeks just after turning 44 about a month ago. We have three older children and have had two previous MMCs over the past two years (those were both FET cycles which we lost at 15 and 9 weeks). This last one was a natural surprise though, and thus was especially hard to lose because it felt like a miracle that was then taken away. We’d really love just one more to love. Hoping that since it happened once on its own that I may not be completely out of chances.

Cleozeta · 02/12/2018 23:43

Welcome mahotsukai. Sorry to hear you had a mmc, I had one too at 10 weeks in May. Trying everything now to improve egg quality. Can I ask how long your LP is?

Rose68 · 02/12/2018 23:39

Welcome @mahotsukai, I am also 43 and just had a mmc at 8 weeks, but there are some with good news stories on here. xxx

mahotsukai · 02/12/2018 22:54

Hi,
Can I join?
I’m 43, TTC #2. Had DD at 38.
Just had MMC at 12 weeks, after TTC 2 years. My ovarian reserve is average, short LP, some indication of low progesterone later in cycle.
Feeling in need of good news stories, and some information to help me boost my chances in the months ahead.
Thanks!

Cleozeta · 02/12/2018 21:16

Fingers crossed for you mimosa!

Boosey - mine was 3 days early this cycle too. No idea why!

Russkispy · 02/12/2018 19:04

@Orchid222 thank you! Injections finished today and done trigger earlier. tomorrow is rest day and needle free! Thank god! All set for EC on Tuesday first thing in the morning. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

BooseysMom · 02/12/2018 14:40

Little & Chat..thank you for your msg's. It's a bad AF this month but don't think i can put it down to a chemical as 3 days early.

Fingers crossed for you Little. We only managed twice which is poor I know!
My DH's bro and sister-in-law had their 1st a couple days ago. IVF 2nd attempt and they've got a beautiful baby boy in time for Xmas!

Orchid222 · 02/12/2018 11:38

Thanks Mimosa and good luck to you! Fingers crossed AF doesn't show, keep us posted. Btw, I can't remember everyone's name lately either, there are so many of us now! Nice to see of course but difficult on a 40+ yo brain lol.
Hmm-I think you were looking to do IVF abroad this month, are you going ahead with it or waiting until Jan because of Christmas closure?

OP posts:
littlemimosa · 02/12/2018 10:42

Orchid - it most certainly would. Good luck to you and Presh and Russ and any others (I can’t recall everyone’s name lately) going through treatments.

Booseys and Helle so sorry AF arrived xx

AFM I’m about 14dpo but not testing yet as my luteal phase is often up to 16 days so it means nothing. We had loads of sex this month so of course I’m getting my hopes up! Hmmm.

Orchid222 · 02/12/2018 10:32

Good luck on Tuesday Russkispy! I'll be about a week behind you.
Cleo amen to that! Hopefully there'll be bfp's from those of us doing IVFs and IUIs but also from those trying naturally. Just imagine getting one in Dec, it'd be the best Xmas present ever!
