Cleo, the only thing that was different was that I was incredibly stressed out and tired! Probably the most I have been ever, house/kitchen extension needing to be finished before Christmas, DS's 2nd Birthday coming up/Christmas and the most busy time at work for a long while (working evenings and weekends). Oh and my DS had croup and then a viral infection!! That's why I was so shocked, I thought there would be now way my body would think of letting me get pregnant in that state.
I am really terrible at remembering to take any supplements as well, so was very on and off with my Ubiquinol and had only managed to take 2 DHEA tablets the month before and then forgot so was going to start again in the new year.
It really is a miracle, and I won't quite believe it until much later I think. I had an ectopic back in 2014 at 10 weeks, and although this one is definitely in the right place I am trying to not get too carried away just yet as there is still a possibility that it will not work out.

@SparrowSG I am very happy that you are 43! It shows it’s possible, thank you x

Cleozeta · 09/01/2019 11:29

Congrats sparrow!! Did you do anything different that cycle?

SparrowSG · 09/01/2019 11:21

of course not Rose, I am the same as you, 43. Will be 44 in April Smile

Rose68 · 09/01/2019 11:09

Oh that’s lovely news @SparrowSG, would you mind if I asked how old you are? x

olivia12 · 09/01/2019 10:59

Thank you little mimosa and Booseys!
I think I’ll switch to lemon and ginger tea for now! Just to be on the safe side.
Great news SparrowSG 💕!!!!

CritterTamer · 09/01/2019 10:58

Congratulations @SparrowSG 😃

CritterTamer · 09/01/2019 10:57

Hi all - thanks for the handhold this morning! Doctor was very nice and helpful. I have a chest and sinus infection, and my throat is so raw because of the infections she said its damaged from the vomiting which is almost certainly where all the blood came from, but to keep an eye out for any more and head straight back if it gets worse.

She was very reassuring and said that although I feel like death, the placenta is very good at filtering out the germs so babies should not be feeling any ill effects unless temperature goes very high, so to keep an eye on that. Home now with a box of antibiotics and a sick note for another week off work. She said honey was fine for pregnant women as far as she knew, but not for babies under 1!

olivia12 · 09/01/2019 10:45

@karigan195 how come peppermint and liquorice aren’t good? It’s my favourite tea 😫😫
Critter: hope you are feeling better soon 💐

SparrowSG · 09/01/2019 10:44

Hi all,

I haven't posted for a looong time (since my last IVF treatment failed in June last year), mainly as I've had nothing new to share, but I have been following all the news.
However, somehow, amazingly, I've managed to fall pregnant Shock, which will be the first time I've ever managed it in nearly 5 years! It's still early days, at nearly 8 weeks, but I have had HCG tests and an early scan last week and all looks good so far. So I am keeping everything crossed that it continues this way.
Just wanted to share with you all as I know, from reading this thread myself, that it can give hope that it can happen. Although I never thought I would manage it without help again and I had even emailed my IVF doctor to book my next treatment in the day before I got my BFP!

Wishing you all much baby dust for the New Year Star

Rose68 · 09/01/2019 10:19

Cleo, yes it was my acupuncturist that said that. I think he might have too much of a conscience for his own good, I.e. making money out of people desperate for something that’s never going to happen.

Cleozeta · 09/01/2019 09:54

Critter - hope you are ok. It's probably related to the vomiting & cold.

Rose - was that you accupuncturist that told you stop going after 2 months? Thats odd! Doesn't he want your money?!

Systemwwr - I am perimenopausal, have been for a while now, managed to conceive twice last year but they didn't stick.

CritterTamer · 09/01/2019 09:48

Ah well, I don't think the honey can be causing any more harm than all the bugs currently inside me trying to finish me off!

I tried the head over bowl if steaming water thing two days ago. I put some Vicks in it and the first inhale smell/taste instantly made me vomit. Maybe I'll try again without the Vicks!

ZoeRoma · 09/01/2019 09:46

Btw, I would also always say to ladies who accidentally eat/drink something that they didn't realize might cause problems: Don't worry! Chances are it hasn't done any harm. Obviously, it's best to avoid things once you're aware of it, but even in the case of risky foods, the chances of you causing any harm to your baby are small. Mention it to your midwife, who will most likely reassure you, and then move on :)

ZoeRoma · 09/01/2019 09:44

I believe that only pasteurized honey is safe for pregnant women. Sites in the UK and US don't tend to specify, since most honey in those countries is pasteurized. Here in Italy, unpasteurized is quite common, and we switched brands when I fell pregnant, since our normal brand was unpasteurized.

The advice here for babies is no honey for babies until they're a year old.

Karigan195 · 09/01/2019 09:36

Well that’s changed! Last time it was all ‘don’t eat honey’ as it can cause botulism.

Sorry! Should have checked the update but the guidance was pretty clear last time I was pregnant!

Rose68 · 09/01/2019 09:30

Let us know what the doctor says, coughing up blood doesn’t sound good 😞

Rose68 · 09/01/2019 09:29

Critter don’t worry, honey is fine while you are pregnant, just don’t feed it to your babies until they are 2 x

CritterTamer · 09/01/2019 09:21

Oh no! I've been guzzling down hot honey and lemon like it's going out of fashion - pharmacist said that was all he could recommend.

Currently sat waiting for an appointment with the emergency doctor after a load more vomiting this morning and the coughing up a lot of fresh blood. Not sure if it's chest infection or whether all the vomiting has torn my throat but if was pretty scary 😳

systemwwr · 09/01/2019 09:14

Is anyone TTC or already conceived in peri menopause?

Karigan195 · 09/01/2019 09:10

She can’t have honey Chat as it can contain bacteria’s not good for the baby. And you need to be careful with oils too as some aren’t good either. It’s weird what you can and can’t have. Found out yesterday peppermint and liquorice tea is bad too!

Chatbash72 · 09/01/2019 09:07

@CritterTamer honey and lemon and there are some good oils that you can hot steam with, fab for sinuses
@Letsdothis43 af over!!! Dh and I back at it.. we tend to dtd every other day for fun rather than to catch ov time.. enjoying contraceptive free time. Still taking the supplements and bits but trying to get the diary full for this year and cracking on with diy stuff.. hope all good with you?
Baby dust to all nearly on a new spring babies thread.. 💕💕💕

Rose68 · 09/01/2019 08:18

I did think 2 months (probably reduced to 1) doesn’t seem a very long time to try!

Rose68 · 09/01/2019 08:15

My acupuncturist seems to suggest the beginning of your cycle and before ov are good times to go. He was talking yesterday about the child I’m going to have as if it were a done deal.
But last week he said if it doesn’t happen this month or next then to stop going (DH is likely away next month), so I’m losing all hope.

Cleozeta · 09/01/2019 08:10

Haha thanks rose Grin crampy is a bit crappy to be fair haha
