Late period, negative tests

Just looking for a more recent source of information. The threads I’ve found are10+ years old. I’ve always had a 27 day cycle... exactly 27 days, always. My period is 4 days late but I’ve taken 5 tests and they were all negative. Has anyone had experience like this? Did they find they were pregnant or was there some other reason for a late / missed period.

I'm currently waiting but I continually got negative tests until CD39 with my first pregnancy

Age. Is a big factor too.
Circles change at the drop of a hat. And not just because of your age but your body. My circle since having lo has been such a pain, though after the first two 10 yes back it was always regular.

sauvignonblancplz · 09/11/2018 14:48

Yep I was day 42 before I got a positive, all negative and the positive test was super super faint , never got any darker.
Currently snuggled beside my snoozing 6 month old.
My previous two children I got BFP before period was even due & all boys . It can happen. Stay positive xx

Update: af arrived. Must just be a weird anomaly. I’m really interested in everyone else’s story though and whether a negative then a positive is a thing.

@loveshinealight, that one on the right looks positive to me!

I'm now on CD35 and had negative tests galore!! I was CD39 before I got a positive with my daughter.

I got this today but not convinced. Anyone used Sainsbury's tests before?

Late period, negative tests

Well for me, with DC1 I used to have 28 day cycles like clockwork and didn't get a positive until I was 5 days late. I didn't get a second of sickness or nausea in that pregnancy. With DC2 I didn't notice that my period was late and took a test of day 30 to get a strong positive. I had loads of nausea in that pregnancy but no sickness. With DC3 I got a faint positive 4 days before my period was due. I had loads of nausea and was sick in that pregnancy. Incidentally all were 2 weeks overdue and were induced, apart from the first who came at least 10 days overdue.

From my experience I don't think there is a direct link between when you get a positive when the baby is born. Fwiw I really think every pregnancy is different, so don't hold onto past experiences too much.

@dreamsofwaves sorry to hear that. This TTC isn’t simple is it!

@sarah2040 Hmm I haven’t ever taken the pill but wondering now if I didn’t ovulate this month. So much second guessing.

DreamsOfWaves · 08/11/2018 18:58

Thanks @Sarah2040 ... hopefully odds are some here will have success stories this month- fingers crossed!

edinbeezer · 08/11/2018 18:23

Exactly the same here! 5 days late and only negative tests. I did have a light two day bleed about 10 days after my last period so starting to think that was just a very early period. So frustrating!

Sarah2040 · 08/11/2018 18:22

@Dotty356, a couple of years ago I went on the progesterone pill. That can stop ovulation and that makes your period stop. That’s how I understood it anyway.

Sarah2040 · 08/11/2018 18:20

@DreamsOfWaves, that must have been tough for you. I totally agree that it’s torturous though. I just want it overwith or to know either way!

I was wondering if you don’t ovulate, do you still have af? May sound like a silly question. Just wondered if I didn’t ovulate so i missed a month.
I did think of the menopause too! But I’m 31. I think you just try and think of loads of reasons don’t you. I hope we get successful stories at the end of this.

DreamsOfWaves · 08/11/2018 18:09

Thank you so much for posting - I'm in exactly the same boat! AF was due on Monday (usually with a bit of spotting the day before) and absolutely nothing! I'm embarrassed to say i may have spent over £80 on POAS in the past week oops. I had a MC at the start of August and AF came around 6 weeks later then the next month was back to normal 28 dates. I guess it must just be the MC messing things up but it really is torture...wish AF would just hurrry up and come so i can get on with it!!

Sarah2040 · 08/11/2018 17:59

@Dotty356, I’m exactly the same. I can pin point it to the time of day and everything. I’m just never late. I started wondering about the menopause but at 30 that seems unlikely too!

@CAO30, thanks so much!

Dotty356 · 08/11/2018 17:38

I feel the same... like I am clutching at straws! I am just wondering what else could cause it to happen all of a sudden. I would get it if I was usually irregular, but nope.

CAO30 · 08/11/2018 17:38

@sarah2040 I'll let you know after today because I think I've taken like 15 at this point lol

Dotty356 · 08/11/2018 17:35

I usually spot before Af but nothing this time. I keep going the loo to check for af as I feel like it’s About to come and then nothing.

Sarah2040 · 08/11/2018 17:33

It’s very odd. I really want to know if it’s legitimate that 5 pregnancy tests could be negative and there could still be a chance of pregnancy... or am i just clutching at a straws.

I'm almost in the same boat. My cycle is usually only 21 days, and when I was supposed to start my period last week I started spotting instead. This last Sunday I had bright red spotting but the day after it went right back to brown. I took a test on a HCG strip on Monday and got a faint positive, but every test since then has been negative. I finally stopped spotting yesterday. I have an appointment at Planned Parenthood today and I'm going crazy. I just want to know what the heck is going on lol

Dotty356 · 08/11/2018 16:23

@sarah2040! Snap! I’m too anxious to take a clear blue just yet! I figure they are the hardest to get a result on! Interesting about the line being in the test section and not control! It’s so stressful! I have only being trying for 4 cycles.

Sarah2040 · 08/11/2018 16:08

Bababoo13, that’s interesting. We aren’t ttc but we did have a little ‘accident’ last month but I figured that I’d be long done with ovulation by that point.

OP posts:
Sarah2040 · 08/11/2018 16:06

Forgot to say, slightly weird.
Took 3 pound shop tests, they all came out negative. I took a Tesco one and that had a line in the positive window but no line in the control window. I then took a fancy clear blue one and that came out negative. I feel like I’ve tried out the full range!

OP posts:
Bababoo13 · 08/11/2018 16:05

I always get negatives for a couple of days after my period has been due when I have been pregnant. Hsve a 28 cycle but think I must ovulate later so this is the reason (or that is the conclusion I have come to)
