hi ladies from the old TTC thread, time to start a new one you think? Its gone way past 500!

Right.go on then, a little bit of magic is fun!

am off to Glasto this weds, and aparantly its good luck to run around the stone circle 3 times.

I'm doing it once for myself and some of my TTC buddies, but if you fancy a little of the glasto luck your way... pop your name here!

(its only a bit of fun!)

Hi folks! Back from hols - sorry I stoped posting - my mobile stopped working once the thread got too big - missed you all lots!

Am going to catch up now and post in a bit!

As update - I'm in the 2ww after lots of bding on hols but not sure when AF due as it's my first month off the pill..

Treenie · 09/07/2007 13:22

Hi ladies
been away for a while as the waiting is driving me up the ruddy wall!
Before we get on to diet can I ask a ttc question please.
If you have crampy pains all day and then get af at 8pm is that CD1 or is the next day CD1? Trying to figure out whether I'm on CD34 or CD35?
Would love it to be CD35 cause that makes af a day late according to previous time I came off the pill. But I have to be realistic.
On Friday, 10 DPO, I got some really sharp pains that lasted only a few mins which I'm hoping very implantation pains. What do you reckon? Did I test yesterday which was neg so not testing again until Wed if AF hasn't shown up by then. Think it may still be too early.
Also had achy boobs so praying this is it!
What do we think ladies? Any advice?

Now weight. I'm 5'8' and 9st 4lbs so I think I'm OK for my height.
Pink Martini what I think you should eat a little of what you like whenever you want it. Don't deprive yourself or you'll end up eating more of it. What I do is eat loads of fruit and veg and brown rice, mulitgrain bread etc - all low GI stuff - do you know what I mean by that? And then have a little bit of what I fancy - chocolate etc.
Have you worked out your BMI? That will give you a better idea of your height/weight ratio. I'm sure it's not nearly as bad as you think it is.
Also are you excercising? I swear by yoga.
And please don't do anything like the atkins when you are ttc cause it's really not good for you - especially now when your body needs to be more balanced than ever.
Oh I really do hope I don't sound to preachy! Just want to help but have a tendency to be bossy!
x

mistlethrush · 09/07/2007 12:04

Hi PinkM - its a bit quiet here today isn't it?

I'm also trying to lose weight - friend and I who both used to go to WeightWatchers and did quite well but don't have time and don't want to spend that much just getting weighed, have decided to club together to do a 'how much have you lost this week' once a week, so that should help.

I find that I just have to do low fat, v little cheese and make sure that I don't have too many carbs. Mind you, I can go quite happily on only 5 pieces of fruit a day (once I get myself into the right frame of mind and don't have too many temptations and need to be busy at work) and feel great on it, so I think that I can really get by on very little, which makes it quite difficult to lose anything on a more 'normal' and long-term regime. Going to give it a good go though.

My most sucessful 2 weeks on WW was when I used most of my 'points' on alchohol and said sod it to most food. Trouble is that that's not v good for TTC either! (Hasten to add, not an alcolholic - just a bad 2 weeks!)

PinkMartini · 09/07/2007 11:25

There's been so much to catch up on but it seems like you've all been Hut-worthily depressed while I've been away.
Sorry to hear it's getting to you.

I'm CD 22 today (cycle usually about 26 days, so will have to wait and see..)

gilly you must be in full packing mode for the big move - hope it's all going well. I do love the excitement of moving house and am feeling a bit "stuck in a rut" with our place at the moment - need to decorate or something as I don't think moving is the way forward, sadly.

nomore good luck today, that was quick to get it through on friday and have the appt on monday!

ready how do you do it, keeping this thread going through hell and high water?! I lol'ed at you having an email for Treenie in "drafts" - i do that ALL the time!

Treenie I know what you mean about looking at nursery stuff - I'm somehow on all the mailing lists for Urchin, GLTC, Little White Company etc (must be from buying presents for nieces) and have to stop myself from drifting off into reveries about how to decorate.

Fifi have you booked your smear yet?

everyone else hello and sorry, but I can't keep up with it all.

My question for today. Are you at your ideal weight? If not are you doing something about it?

I ate/drank far too much on hols and am all time highest weight ever .
I was folllowing a great diet at the beginning of the year but it was high protein and worked well to begin with but (sorry TMI warning) the constipation got too much to deal with.

And I also read that you shouldn't TTC while following it.

What I should just do is give up sugar and salty snacks (well all snacks really) and cut down on the booze - we don't really drink at home unless we have people round but we make up for it when we're out.

Advice anyone?

mistlethrush · 09/07/2007 09:38

Morning all - after usual weekend away from Mumsnet due to over work at home. Too many concerts, too much rain! Sureal moment was ds on potty at the back of a gazebo with guitarist and violinst playing away in front of us and lots of other people still sitting out on picnic chairs under umbrellas, probably wondering what ds and me up to in the back-ground...

The delights you've got to look forward to!

Ikea - definitely think that the animial one is suitable for those of you that (like me) didn't want to know whether m or f beforehand. Fi needs the hocus pocus one - but I think that only came in larger sizes, so you'll have to wait for that one Fi... The trouble is, some of the others rather depend on whether m or f - whilst you can have a yellow theme for either, pastel blue or pastel pink is a bit of a problem! I think that it is sometimes good to look at that sort of thing and have it as a positive thing - that's what I will get when (rather than if)...

Congratulations Gilly! Hope things go smoothly with move down. You might find the move in jobs is just what you need (it certainly worked for me).

Nomore - hope all goes well, let us know.

BabyBratt · 09/07/2007 09:16

Good luck this morning nomore

PinkMartini · 07/07/2007 15:10

Hi everyone. Posting quickly to say hello - I am back from holiday, where we relaxed, enjoyed the sunshine and had a bit of bding fun. Am on my 2ww now, so we'll see how successful it was! Off to read the thread properly.

BabyBratt · 07/07/2007 14:59

Nomore, good luck with your appointment I will keep everything crossed.

Ready I know I am only on my 8 cycle but I know how hard it is to keep positive. I too believe everything happens for a reason it keeps me going. Any time you need a bit of optimism you are welcome to share mine.

Hi Treenie hope you are well, have you discovered the Fertility Friend website, it helps you chart everything and works dates out etc. I am little bit of a late developer so I've only just discovered this.

Hi Kensgirl and everyone else.

Anyone got any good news to report? Any more News Fi

kensgirl · 07/07/2007 10:34

Hi ladies

Just popping in to say hello!

Congratulations, Gilly!I know it must be very bittersweet for you, but a masters is an incredible achievement - well done you! heres hoping it is the start if many succsses, with another bfp being a huge part of that.

Hi, Ready. Sorry you are in need of optimism. i'm not sure I can offer you much, but I can offer a hug. It will happen one day, just the ftc is torture I know. at least you have the ball rolling now, and it can only take you a step nearer to holding your own baby, come hell or high water. Thinking of you x

Good luck on Monday, Nomore. I'll be keeping almost everything crossed for you, as Monday wil be cd 7 for me, and time to climb on the rollercoaster of ttc again...

Hello to everyone else

Ready · 06/07/2007 19:20

Ladies - Hope everyone is feeling good? Plenty of optimism? I have none, so I am looking to borrow some.

Gilly - Exciting times for you huh, congrats on the distinction. I understand it is tinged with sadness, and I am so sorry for that. Good luck with your new job, and life in the capital - I hope you'll love it! I have been to the GP and had a few tests, all good so far, and I have my referral appointment in a few weeks, so the ball is rolling. Time will tell.

Nomore - You are in my "drafts"

Treenie - I hope that you don't have to wait 11 months, chick! I think maybe things happen in life for a reason, and there is a lot going on in my life at the moment, that wouldn't really be conducive to late pregnancy or early motherhood - so perhaps it was a good thing that I have yet to conceive. If that makes sense? Very sweet of you to say nice things about me

fifilou any news chick??

Everyone else...

nomoremagnolia · 06/07/2007 09:09

Morning all
Gilly - congrats on the distinction! (When I was about 10 I got a grade 1 music theory with distiction, except I kept telling everyone it was with extinction as I'd recently learnt about endangered animals and kept getting confused!)
Ready - good to see you back
BB - the jealousy thing is quite irrational, it comes and goes as it likes. I missed my lunch hour at work the other week because a colleague's pg daughter came into have lunch with her and I couldn't bear to be around her (I actually felt really angry and almost violent towards her, which scared me ), but then a week or two later I found I didn't feel like that anymore (which was a relief!)

News from me - got my referral apponitment through - for Monday morning! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Good Evening Ladies

I am not sure how I coped before I started posting on here.

Anyway I decided after the mention of Ikea that I would take a wander around Ikea, they have just opened a new one near me. I wandered around the Children's bedroom bit. I looked at all these pregnant ladies but it suprised me I did not get down. In a weird way it gave me hope. I even decorated the baby room, in my head of course. I know I am sad but whatever gets me through.

The great thing about these threads is there is always someone just to pull you up. I cannot thank you all enough

I found this link on another thread. It is a list of things to do whilst on our two week wait

www.bellybelly.com.au/articles/conception/two-week-wait-activity-list

Im around CD 20 and dying to know one way or the other. I keep promising myself I will not test until I am a day late!!!! should we take bets on whether I make it!!

Treenie · 05/07/2007 18:03

Thanks Ready. That is really helpful. I think I'll go with your idea cause I want it to be CD 31 - means I'm closer to my CD34 deadline!

I really feel for you Ready. I can't imagine how hard it must be to feel this way for 11 months. This is our 1st month ttc and I'm going round the bend.

If it makes you feel any better (well not better but cheers you up for a mo) you were my insperation to start posting on here. About six months ago I startd to 'lurk' and read this ttc no1 thread and it was your optimism and positivity that made me want to keep reading.
I know it's very hard for you to maintain that at the mo, but hopefully you'll be back to your usual sunny self on the preggy threads soon. Have every thing crossed for you my dear.
x

Ready · 05/07/2007 17:57

Treenie, not positive at the moment, trying to be though. In answer to your question, for me, I would count it as CD1 even if it was 8pm, so long as it was full flow, and not just spotting. But that is just me, and not necessarily correct. I am sure I read somewhere that if the bleeding doesn't start before midday then it should be counted as CD1 the following day. Sorry I haven't been more helpful

Treenie · 05/07/2007 17:52

Hi Ready
how are you? Keeping positive I hope?

I have a question for anyone really. If af (well withdrawl bleed after coming off pill) starts (ie the bleeding) in the evening at 8pm but you've been having cramps etc all day to you count that as the day it arrived?
Or should it be the following day cause it's late in the evening? Trying to work out if I am on CD30 or CD31?

Thanks guys
x

Ready · 05/07/2007 17:16

Hey ladies!! I am absolutely loving seeing the clearbluefairyjunior... I always knew that the CBF needed some help with all the early testers out there.

So how is everyone?

Kensgirl big hugs chick, I am sorry you feel down, but I totally understand that "barren" feeling. Here I am cycle 11 and it is tiresome waiting - but we have to try to stay positive - the best things come to those who wait!

nomore - I haven't forgotten you sweets, reply to follow soon. How are you doing?

Everyone else. Hope all is well?

clearbluefairyjunior · 05/07/2007 16:50

Just checking up on you all
I hope there's no early testing going on... (you know who you are, you naughty scamps!)

nomoremagnolia · 05/07/2007 15:05

Come on then MT - spill the beans on what bedding you thought suited us all? I wonder if you got us right?

mistlethrush · 05/07/2007 12:12

Treenie - so you're going to find out are you? Which do you want - I definitely wanted a girl at one stage - but by the time I was pregnant I was just relieved that there was a baby - and didn't care which, then towards the end I actually came round to thinking that a boy might be quite nice as we already have 2 nieces... and a boy's name was easier.

We decided that we didn't want to know. The nursery was decorated a lovely yellow with blue curtains with animals on that would have been fine for either sex. Just have quite an animal theme going on which is OK by DS!

It was nice looking at all the small furniture and pale colours of bedding and deciding which ones would suit you all. Of course, if we do eventually manage to get #2, they will have hand-me-downs - if its a girl it will still be dressed in blue and in dungarees quite a lot of the time!

BB - being broody is not a problem and sometimes even helps, so you never know. I know someone who relied on rhythm method very reliably, then went to see a friend with a new baby, got v broody and got pregnant on a day that would normally have been 3 days safe.

Top tip - if you do find yourself picking up 'bargains' in sales for when it finally happens, don't get too many small sizes - ds was in 3-6month clothes by 4wks and never fitted into 'newborn' size.

Treenie · 05/07/2007 11:19

BB I will not have this negative chat from you lady! It will happen - if you stop believing that you'll really get yourself down. And can I tell you that I have read loads of 2WW diaries on line and scoured the internet and spoken to friends and loads of them had no symptoms at all for weeks after BFP - no symptoms at this stage means bugger all. Hope that helps!

Mistelthrush I love Ikea! Love the pretty white furniture. My plan is to have that and then accessories with blue or pink depending what 20 week scan says. Also want a nursing chair in lovely gingham fabic for the corner of the room opposite the window so the two of us can sit and snuggle up and look out at everything. Bloody hell I'm talking like I am up the duff already! Mad Treenie!

Do have a strange dull achy pain that is coming and going today and lower back pain but don't know what the heck that means - prob af on the way. Also have niggles in my boobs - just slight twinges.
This is CD 29 for me and about 8DPO - don't even get af before CD 31 so here's hoping it's OV pains.

How is everyone today?

BabyBratt · 05/07/2007 09:16

Hi Ladies

Treenie, I have no symptoms not even the ones I normally get so I am not holding out much hope.

Kensgirl I have no words that will help you, but I have been trying for 8 months and I am really starting to believe this will never happen. I live between this thread and the Hut. All I can say is your not alone.

I love some of the ikea furniture for babies and children. I found myself daydreaming about decorating a nursery. I also found a really cute baby grow bag the other day.

We are looking after DH nephew in a couple of weeks and I love having him but he makes me broody.

mistlethrush · 04/07/2007 22:32

Kensgirl ((((hugs))) Been there, done that, got the T shirt(s), loyalty card, know all the staff by name.... Now look at me! (I know that I'm here and not pg and really wanting to be, but at least I've got ds, and at one stage I really didn't believe that that was possible.)

Look on the bright side - you only needed follow-ups, not chemo -and I wasn't allowed even to consider trying for a year after treatment stopped. And chemo was crap - which is partly why dh has got cold feet - it was 6 months of hell for him to as I was mostly good for nothing.

It can happen for you (although nothing is certain in this world). As Treenie says, you can always consider IVF etc (we got to the top of the NHS list twice). We had already decided that we would try to adopt if molar pregnancy came back (which, I think, is another reason that we are not 'going' for it this time as much as we might).

So, please get reassurance from me that its not impossible and don't get too down. I found accupuncture v good for helping with mood swings too. Worth considering?

On a lighter note I've been to IKEA today and chosen cot bedding for everyone here - happy thing to do, please excuse me! Probably missed the mark somewhat here and there, but its nice imagining. Fi - there is a 'hocus pocus' range for children that might tie in a bit with Glastonbury... I'm afraid they didn't do a 'mud' range!

I'm feeling a lot less stressed since accupuncture on Tuesday (having the day off today might have had something to do with it, although going round IKEA is perhaps not themost restful thing to do...)

Treenie · 04/07/2007 18:29

Oh Kensgirl I'm so sorry you feel so down. Don't know what to say my dear. Don't want to give you all the old 'it'll happen one day' platitudes. The only thing I will say, which I've said to others who have been ttcing for a while is that there is always help out there. I know it's the last thing you want but IVF etc are there if you need them so don't give up hope. So far you've only tried the natural route (I think?) so that's just one avenue and there are others. This door is most def not shut!
Hope that helps - big hug
x
