waiting to TTC January- anyone else?

Oh that's funny fingers crossed a good age for TTC! At least as my birthday is in a few weeks the birthday prosecco will be well and truly out of the system by December! [grins]

Fraternal as well! My Mum also has twin brother. Was the same for my granny - no idea though they were children 3 and 4 so wonder if the pregnancy felt different. Love the idea of a knitting production line - brilliant!

Should be doing a bit of a health MOT probably myself though with a 30th birthday and Xmas coming up.. think may not happen

sheflies it only came up with my dentist as she asked why I’d booked in - any pain, issues etc - and I mentioned I’d read somewhere that the 6 months before trying was a good time to do a bit of a health MOT. So could be worth it? If you’re overdue a check up anyway and are anything like me it’s a good prod to book in

Oooh I haven't been to the dentist for a while. Wondering if I should book an appointment before the end of the year in case x rays are needed. Then I wonder if I will be tempting fate a bit and nothing may happen for ages!

(That said, my mum does like to joke that they’re identical when she (blonde, female, 5ft 5in) is introducing him (black hair, Male, 6ft 2in) to people 😂)

@becca3210 oh how funny, my mum’s a twin too! Slightly terrifying thought... I think I once read twins come down the dad’s side (although logically it’s more about the egg release than sperm??) - either way eek! I so admire my granny, she didn’t find out it was twins until a fortnight before having my mum and uncle - it was the 1950s and apparently it just hadn’t been picked up - all my great aunts were doing a knitting production line for the first few months apparently!

Becca what kind of twin? Identical aren’t passed down genetically but fraternal are.

Dolly I know that feeling! Not mentioning it to many people as I don’t need the pressure, but I want some close people to know just in case. Stocking up on conception vitamins for us both this week so we’re both full of goodness by January

@becca3210 I actually did tell my dentist that we were going to start TTC when I saw her earlier this month, she said she’d run some X-rays as it was a couple of years since I’d had them and might not be able to in 12 months time...

It was the first time I said it out loud to anyone other than DH and I think I grinned like a bit of an idiot!

Great lots of us in the same boat. I also would prefer Autumn/Winter baby for school reasons (am a primary teacher which is probably why!) though I know some people think I am a bit mad for even thinking that -probably including my August born husband :)

Interesting to hear some of you are waiting to avoid a summer (youngest in the year) baby, as this is one of our reasons too I'm 29 and have been married for three years, feels like the right time for us now!

Hi everyone. I'm 35 and will be stopping my pill in Jan. My husband is due to finish his PHD in at the end of August so can't realistically afford to go on maternity until PHD is done and he can start bringing in an income. I haven't found the waiting hard, quite the opposite- I feel somewhat terrified by how fast time is flying by and the fact we could be parents by next Christmas!

I’ve actually been amazed at the regularity of my cycle, 12 years on the pill and I barely had a period a year for about 6 of those. I’d sort of forgotten to worry about them, now my body is au naturalle they come like clockwork.

@DollyWilde no problem! It's not unusual for women off the pill to have a few months when cycles get less regular then they reset, for no obvious reason. I don't tend to get worried about irregular periods if not ttc until they're less than every 3m, or if wanting to ttc in the near future, or other symptoms.

Really disagree. I came off the pill in Jan and cycles were between 30 - 65 (!!) days until July, and have now settled into regular 33 days. I’m really pleased I came off a year ahead of trying as it definitely took half a year until cycles sorted themselves out (although I didn’t come off for that reason). I know some do fall pregnant in the first month after coming off (my mum did with me!) but we’re all different.

I’m half in! Have a final round job interview next week. If I get the job we’ll be waiting until July to start TTC but if I don’t get the job we’ll be starting in Jan I’m sort of excited either way though so it’s a nice way to plan it!

Hello everyone. We will be ttc number 3 after January. Breastfeeding number two and periods haven't returned yet. Haven't been using contraception since baby was born, so aware it could happen sooner. Guessing my periods will return when I go back to work but know it could take longer.

It's very difficult not to get over excited, I keep making plans for this Christmas and then thinking "eeeek! Next Christmas we might have two children to think about!".

maybe not, but if the pill effects your cycle (as it did for me) it can be helpful to come off it in advance to let your cycle settling before trying to track it

this is a really common misconception. The pill doesn't affect your cycle once you're off it. If your periods are irregular off the pill, that's your normal cycle, it was just masked once taking the pill. There's really no need to track cycles before TTC or once you start - it can be useful if struggling TTC though.

Probably the most useful reason to wait til Jan is to avoid a summer baby! Worrying about cycles is really not an issue now that we have accurate dating scans.

Hi all, Im also waiting til January! Helpfully, im predicted to ovulate the week we’re on holiday so that will hopefully work out well haha.
Came off the pill last month (first cycle pill free) with a view to getting my cycles back to their natural state. Have started taking pregnacare vitamins but trying not to get obsessed with tracking/symptoms etc.
Really excited for 2019!
