Yammers thread 9!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Thank you @si1ver! I was hoping my days of having medical apparatus roaming around my uterus were over, but oh well! All worth it in the end I hope!
Fingers crossed we can get it all done before Xmas

Si1ver · 09/11/2018 07:44

It'll be a transvaginal scan @FairyAnn. They'll probably do an exterior scan first (full bladder needed) then you'll be allowed to scamper off to pee and it'll be dildocam time.

All the early scans really need to be transvaginal because they're measuring things in millimetres (follicles and the lining etc) but they like to make a show of trying an abdominal scan first. I got quite a shock at my seven week scan when I was trying to take my pants off and the sonographer said "abdominal is really enough at this point" 😂

FairyAnn · 09/11/2018 07:31

Hey ladies, welcome newcomers! 😊

Question for thos with IVF experience - I've got a scan next week, the one you have before they start you on your medications. Does anyone know what kind of scan it is? Is it ultrasound? Thanks in advance!

sophhhxo · 08/11/2018 23:29

Hey everyone!!

I hope it's okay for me to join (late to the party I know!!)

Just coming to the end of my TWW of cycle 35 😫

Just in the process of a hospital referral as I have PCOS and have been trying for a substantial amount of time now!

I'm looking forward to having some people to rant to and to tell me I'm being stupid overthinking my symptoms or testing early 🤦🏼‍♀️

Can't wait to get you know you all xx

MrsDash · 08/11/2018 21:35

Thanks @chooklass for the info.
Now I just need to persuade DH that acupuncture is a proper thing backed up with medical evidence in order to use our joint account...

Chooklass · 08/11/2018 20:02

@MrsDash I paid £45 tonight. It's more expensive for introductory session, think it's 35 for further sessions.

Welcome @kdd1980!

Thanks Mrs Dash, I'm feeling dreadful to be honest but am being well looked after thank you x

MrsDash · 08/11/2018 18:15

Btw @kdd1980 I hope you’re feeling okay and being looked after. I felt awful after my lap. Took me a couple of weeks to feel fully normal.

MrsDash · 08/11/2018 18:13

@chooklass that’s great to hear it sounds so positive. Do you mind me asking roughly how much a session costs? Just to get an idea.

@kdd1980 I’m a fellow endo sufferer, was diagnosed with a lap in sept. Fingers crossed for us both.

kdd1980 · 08/11/2018 18:03

Can I join? I'm on month 31 txt no2 (1 Mac last year at 12 weeks) and had a laparoscopy yesterday where they found and removed endometriosis! Fingers crossed that might do the trick!

Chooklass · 08/11/2018 17:59

So my acupuncture session was great! Lady was lovely and it was nice just to chat through it all. She's going to focus on stopping my spotting and cramps. Also suggested I try a few sessions of abdominal massage in between period and ovulation. Shame it's so pricy but think I'll try it for a few months and just not buy any new clothes (which I don't need anyway).

Keep calm @Pinkemi! (Easier said than done, I imagine) but you are pregnant - yay! Love a Yammer BFP - they have been few and far between recently.

@MrsDash welcome to the yam fam!

@Si1ver Might just pretend that I've got a severe bladder infection which I'm on antibiotics for so I can't drink or swim! And tell the group before we go in the whatsapp chat so they don't go.. yeah yeah!

like "Guys im telling you this now because I don't want you all thinking I'm pregnant when I'm not.. I wont be able to go to the spa and I wont be able to drink coz I have a severe bladder infection and the doctor told me NO WAY can i drink or swim due to my medication." Thus killing two birds with one stone! :) (Although thinking about it.. I'm not sure if my doctor friend is going.. this could be difficult! haha)

Right.. No more stressing or googling! I'm going to keep saying good morning to my belly... try and eat healthily and sensibly... start taking a brisk walk at lunch times... take another test on Saturday morning (I bought more clearblue digitals today because ive been using pink dye tests and I know they are more sensitive. Not sure if I should try this tomorrow... or wait... Hmm) and call the doctor on Monday to arrange my midwife appointment.. Oh and wait for my 7 week scan to come through the post.

Oh and i need to RELAX! haha Have I forgotten anything? haha

maddiie · 08/11/2018 17:22

Guyyys.. 7DPO.. just wiped and there's a little bit on pinky blood. No cramps or anything. Had sore boobs since ov which still hurt. My temp dipped this morning really low. Trying to stop myself getting excited cause I know I won't be.. but...

MrsDash · 08/11/2018 16:08

@chooklass thanks for the welcome. I’m sorry about your chemical too.
I’d be really interested to hear how you find acupuncture! I’ve heard good things but realise it’s probably not especially cheap so would like to find out more. Good idea to have something new to focus on.

Chooklass · 08/11/2018 15:45

Welcome @MrsDash - you're in good company here . Sorry about your chemical. I had one in June too.

I know what you mean about how you used to get excited about stuff like that! I've well and truly run out of new possible preg symptoms to be excited about! It's a really tough rollercoaster.

I'm just off to my first acupuncture session! Feels good to be trying something new this cycle!

MrsDash · 08/11/2018 15:35

Oops, didn’t mean to press post yet.

I’m feeling really sad and whilst DH and my family are really supportive I still feel quite low. Especially as my friends all seem to get pregnant really quickly and it makes me feel really rubbish and envious when I should be happy for them.

Sorry to be so negative... need some positives to focus on.

MrsDash · 08/11/2018 15:32

Hello ladies! Newbie to the Yam fam.

Long story short... been TTC 10 months, only had 5 proper cycles as first was 4 month! Second was a chemical pregnancy (June) but nothing since then. Was diagnosed with endometriosis in Sept but gynaecologist things it’s unlikely to be affecting my fertility as it’s on my bladder but she’s sending us for fertility checks anyway to get a better picture of the situation. That’ll happen next cycle.

Currently on 11dpo and got a tiny bit of pale pink Cm today. Used to get execited thinking it was implantation bleeding but now I know from experience that’s it means af is on its way and I’m feeling really down.

Si1ver · 08/11/2018 13:49

I drank a lot of glasses of sparkling water and passed them off as G&T or vodka soda. Works well if you insist you're on a low carb diet and that you stay out of rounds because "spirits are so expensive"

Pinkemi · 08/11/2018 13:31

Oh Crap.. I just remembered im going on a hen do in a couple of weeks time.. its a load of all school friends who will question why I am not drinking.. there is also a spa day package... I could get away with just hanging out at the rooftop pool (or say I have my period and don't go at all)... but how do i get away with not drinking?!

Si1ver · 08/11/2018 13:24

Well yes, in an ideal world you would serenely forget about it and sail forth in an unstressed world.

But you're human and you're going to worry and Google and test. Try and stick to the mantra "today I am pregnant" you can't change tomorrow and fretting although natural doesn't help.

Pinkemi · 08/11/2018 13:07

@Si1ver Thanks for this.. I will take a look!

The nursing team a the clinic basically told me to stop worrying about it over the weekend.. and to take another test on Saturday.. And to then call the GP on Monday and get myself booked in. Just kicking myself for not doing something about it sooner!

Just keep worrying that its not working.. you know?! I dont really have any symptoms apart from those which could be due to the progesterone pessaries: feeling tired, increased CM and bloating.

Other then a few boob twinges every now and then.. you wouldn't even know!

I think i need to step away from tests and google!!!!

Si1ver · 08/11/2018 12:49

It's hard isn't it? You worry about it working and then about the lines and then about the scans. About being sick and then not being sick and your boobs not hurting enough. I wish I could tell you it gets easier.

Maybe have a look at starting to follow a gestational diabetes diet now if you're worried, it's all about stabilising your blood sugar and apparently helps people lose weight too. But honestly, you're probably going to need to eat what you're able to in the first trimester so don't be too hard on yourself.

There's good resources here gestationaldiabetes.co.uk

Pinkemi · 08/11/2018 12:41

I was thinking i should do the same.. mainly coz im a little worried about how faint the lines are. But then.. i want to discuss with my midwife etc about monitoring my weight whilst pregnant.. doing something like slimming world.. coz im really worried about how heavy i am. (Have a BMI over 35 now. Sad ) dunno what to do!

Also its coming up to a really busy time at work (december) where they get funny about you having time off.. not sure how im gonna keep it a secret. Urgh!

Si1ver · 08/11/2018 12:34

@Pinkemi I waited until we'd seen a heartbeat on the 7 week scan. I didn't actually get discharged as such because of my follow up treatment being private in the UK rather than with the clinic.

Pinkemi · 08/11/2018 11:34

@Si1ver This may be a stupid question.. But i'm not really sure what I am doing. When did you book your first midwife appointment? Should I have done it by now? Or is this something you do once you have been discharged from the clinic at 7 weeks?

@Maddiie I'm sorry to hear this.. I know it's not great.. but what about in the disabled loos at the hospital? Confused
