Yammers thread 9!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Does anyone ever just feel like giving up?
Have been really trying to stay positive but I’m not sure I have the mental will-power for the constant rollercoaster of this anymore 😢
Yet another AF so really struggling today. Is it just me?

Si1ver · 21/11/2018 15:00

I can't imagine how shit you must feel, going through all of that. The hormones aren't going to be helping you either. You must be feeling completely wrung out.

We had one embryo tested, our clinic did it as standard. I never got the point of testing one embryo rather than all of them. The odds are that you'll test one that's fine.

It was our clinc who said 3 transfers rather than 3 full rounds, but that might have been a lost in translation moment.

Booksandbaths1 · 21/11/2018 14:45

Thanks Si1ver. We didn't do any genetic testing - did you? I'm 34 so I guess they feel it's not necessary yet. I'm not sure on the 80% stat as I've researched and it's not that high. Certainly not for 3 transfers anyway but maybe for 3 complete cycles. It feels rubbish tbh, all that effort for not even a hint of bfp. Just my fucking period arriving early 😔 Kinda losing faith in this ever working for us.

Si1ver · 21/11/2018 13:50

I'm so pleased you have some frozen embryo. I know it's got to be incredibly hard to see a bright side at the moment, but your odds of it working increase with every transfer. With three separate transfers it goes up to about 80%. Did your frozen embryos get genetic testing as well?

Now's the time to be kind to yourself, wallow in misery, maybe have a holiday if you can.

Booksandbaths1 · 21/11/2018 13:42

Thanks guys, my DH is being amazingly supportive though it is upsetting for him too. We didn't tell close family due to the stuff they've got going on. My sister's in hospital really not well so I didn't want to burden my mum. We got a few embryos frozen so that's the tiny silver lining. Though it's hard to feel positive - if this transfer didn't work, why should any other. I was so hoping for a bit of luck after a shit few months but it wasn't to be sadly.

ivf2019 · 21/11/2018 13:10

Oh Books that's unbelievably shit, so sorry. I hope you have some good IRL support around you too?

LimpLettice · 21/11/2018 11:50

Booksand that's truly shit, I'm sorry.

Si1ver · 21/11/2018 09:53

I'm so sorry @Booksandbaths1, please be kind to yourself.

Chooklass · 21/11/2018 09:22

@Booksandbaths1 I'm so sorry Thanks. I can't imagine how you are feeling. We're here if you need to rant and rage xx

Oh Booksandbaths1 I’m so sorry to hear that. Flowers

Booksandbaths1 · 21/11/2018 09:08

Well yammers, sadly I'm back. Has been a hellish few weeks with family death and illness and my ivf cycle in amongst it all. Stressful to say the least. Got my period last night, 8 days after my 5 day embryo transfer - so didn't make it close to test day. I'm devastated to say the least. All that time, effort, hope and money for nothing. Feeling at a new ttc low today.

Chooklass · 21/11/2018 07:44

Hi @FlapJackered - welcome!

Hi - can I please join you lovely ladies?

I am 30 and have been ttc for 9 months now. I have long and irregular cycles. Currently cd22 3dpo.

Has anyone tried Soy Isoflavones? I have been reading good things about them so might give them a whirl next cycle.

I actually am ok this time. I think it’s been a long and difficult time coming for her so it’s great.

Hope you’re ok too. Love and gin to you.

ivf2019 · 20/11/2018 13:12

Oh god Sparkwood it seems to be the time of year for them. Hope you're okay.

My SIL just had the baby so I am an Auntie for the first time. Have been uncontrollably sobbing for about an hour and have to keep going to the toilets to sort myself out! So, so, so happy but also sad. Feels weird.

SparkwoodAnd21 · 20/11/2018 10:47

Aaaand another baby bomb. My boss just said ‘I’m having a baby’ and rushed off to a meeting. I’m a bit bitter but actually pleased too, because she’s great and also she’s got to be about my age so it gives me a bit of (pointless) hope.

Chooklass · 19/11/2018 21:07

Oh yeh, and @JustLikeTheySaid I seem to feel better when I don't test. It's really tough some months and I still do occasionally but I find the failure of a bfn worse than fp for some reason.

OP posts:
Chooklass · 19/11/2018 21:04

@JustLikeTheySaid I know how you feel, it really is exhausting. When I start to feel like that a lot I try a new hobby or fitness class or something to take my mind off it. Was just thinking tonight that in my hour-long yoga class I didn't think about TTC or work at all! Amazing! Did me the world of good after today's baby bomb. X

JustLikeTheySaid · 19/11/2018 18:57

BFN for me this morning at 10DPO so that's me out.

Might have to give up for a bit. I'm exhausted with the emotion of constantly failing.

LimpLettice · 19/11/2018 17:36

I did wonder! Thank you Smile

ivf2019 · 19/11/2018 13:22

Chooklass urgh feel your pain! There are 4 in my office too, but one is going on Mat Leave tomorrow so at least it'll go down. Wine/chocolate for you tonight?

Spark oh good luck with acupuncture! I loved it and definitely think it helped regulate/shorten my cycles. My experience was similar to Chooklass's, but at certain points in my cycle I also had needles in my lower tummy (just below your knicker line), although most were in legs/feet. If nothing else I found it really relaxing, so hope you enjoy it.

My SIL has just gone into labour so I'll have a nephew in the next few days which is exciting but I'm also now sitting at my desk feeling sorry for myself because I really hoped I might be pregnant by the time she had him.

Chooklass · 19/11/2018 12:17

@ivf2019 Yes, I'll see her at work every day! Now I have 3 colleagues due in spring! Fml!

@SparkwoodAnd21 I've only had 2 acupuncture sessions so far but really like it. My first appointment was 1hr, she spent 1st 30 mins chatting about my cycles, health, diet etc then stuck pins in me, then left me to chill out for 20 mins. I had pins in my hands and lower legs, and one between my eyebrows (that's the only one which stung a little). My 2nd appt was 30 mins and she just stuck pins in straight away and left me.

I've always ov'd on day 12 but this month I've just ov'd on day 14. Interested to see how the next 2 wks pan out as she said she was going to focus on stopping my spotting! Annoyingly still not got letter from consultant about progesterone so will have to wait another cycle to start that now (as just to take from ov to fp).

Congratulations Maddiie!

The ‘congratulations’ upthread for @Limplettice from Forky was actually me. One of my other names.

Also had a baby bomb last week, from a friend who was adamant she didn’t want children. Sent me on a bit of a misery spiral. I’ve got my first acupuncture this week though. Those that have had it, tell me more about it, how was it?

Pinkemi · 19/11/2018 11:29

omg @maddiie Congrats!!

I also had a baby bomb at the weekend.. and felt annoyed by it.. I honestly don't know why! I think its because the lady is just so.. smug? (Sorry i know i sound like a bad person now.) haha

Anyway I am really happy for you maddiie!

Not a lot to report here.. ive got a horrible cough again.. so am working from home waiting for a doctors appointment.
