Yammers thread 9!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

@Si1ver Sad Mine rised for 3410 to 5106 in 48 hours. The nurse said that was a 49% increase and that the lowest ever seen in a successful pregnancy was 52% and that she "doubts I'm setting a new record" going back today for more but they all told me not to get my hopes up. I'm 5+5 I think.

Si1ver · 26/11/2018 08:03

That sounds hideous @maddiie. I don't want to give false hope, but please remember that it's not necessarily every 48 hours that the HCG doubles. It can take a little longer than that in some women. Keep resting up. Keep hydrated.

How far along are you now?

maddiie · 26/11/2018 07:31

Thanks all

@Si1ver Essentially just waiting for the miscarriage to start. Apparently with my hcg levels not doubling it's just a matter of time. I feel so disgusting because my body feels so pregnant, it is pregnant, but for how long? If this is really going to end I just want it to hurry up and start miscarrying because every pregnancy symptom I have just makes me want to scream. Sad

strawberrye · 26/11/2018 06:41

@Boboelephant hello again! Sorry to hear AF got you this month. I will be keeping everything crossed for you and hope Murphy's law kicks in and you're pregnant just before starting IVF.

@maddiie how are things today?

Boboelephant · 25/11/2018 16:49

@Maddiie sorry i didn't mean to skip you. I have everything crossed for you that you have a determined little bean in there and that everything will be fine.

Boboelephant · 25/11/2018 16:47

Hi all, hoping I can join you. I've been ttc #2 for over 2 years now. Had an ectopic pregnancy which ruptured Nov 2016 and they seem to have removed my fertility along with my tube. I got pregnant again after trying for 11 months and then found out at a 9 week scan that there was no heartbeat. It's now been 12 months since the ERPC and not a bloody whiff. So many people have had pregnancies, babies and first birthdays and I'm still not pregnant. Feels like a huge kick in the teeth. We are now due to start IVF in Jan. Been reading through your whole thread and feel like I could have written some of your posts. I'm so sorry you're all on this tough journey too.

I've also been on the TTC after pregnancy loss thread for a year and agree with @strawberrye. Whilst I'm so happy for people getting their happy endings it's really hard to constantly be the old cheese left behind. @strawberrye I haven't checked that thread for a few weeks- I'm so so sorry to hear that you've had another loss. Sending hugs hugs.
@Pinkemi congratulations! Loved hearing a positive IVF story.
@Booksandbaths1 I'm so sorry it didn't work for you and that you're going through such tough times.
Sorry for everyone who's out this month. I'm just at the end of my period and it all starts again. Last natural cycle so I'm sure I'll be even more crazy than usual guzzling down all my Google supported tablets and potions! 🤦‍♀️

Si1ver · 25/11/2018 08:48

@maddiie I'm so sorry my lovely. I'm keeping everything crossed for you that it turns out the doctors are wrong.

I do know how devastating being told that is. My only natural bfp was after 18 months of trying and I was completely broken when it went wrong. Keep talking to us. Don't ever feel that you can't post.

strawberrye · 25/11/2018 07:21

@LimpLettice thank you, I'm feeling like I'm in a dark place at the moment. Went Christmas shopping yesterday and it suddenly struck me that I should have a 2 month old baby now, or be looking forward to a boxing day due date, or planning to tell our families our news. Then thinking how many Christmases will I be wistfully looking at other people's children wondering whether I'll ever have my own? I normally love Christmas and just don't feel excited about it at all this year.

@auroracase I think you are very much entitled to rant, that seems odd that they wouldn't even do the basic bloods for you? Maybe they were trying to be kind and have some personal experience of the investigation and referral process for infertility taking a long time and then being unsuccessful and blaming it on age? But certainly doesn't sound like they expressed that in a sensitive or appropriate way!

@maddiie I'm so sorry you are in this situation, you must be distraught. Post whatever you like on here and keep us updated. Keeping you in my thoughts and hoping your doctor is wrong Flowers

maddiie · 24/11/2018 22:35

@Si1ver Nearly 2 years of trying I get my first BFP and not even a week later a doctor tells me to not get my hopes up and prepare for the worst Sad it's all just cruel. Holding on to a slither of hope but I'm heartbroken.

Si1ver · 24/11/2018 22:30

Are you ok @maddiie?

maddiie · 24/11/2018 20:03

Sorry.. shouldn't of posted that. So emotional tonight. Sorry.

maddiie · 24/11/2018 19:37

Hi all,

Still reading this thread and thinking of you all.

Unfortunately looks like I may be joining you all again shortly.

Hope there's more BFPs and positive outcomes for everyone soon. This thread got me through some tough moments.

auroracase · 24/11/2018 18:46

Hey all,
First time post on this thread. I just wanted to have a rant about my GP. DH and I have been TTC for nearly 18 months, with one early mc after 12 months. I asked to get some of the basic tests done to check our fertility and was told if having a baby at my age was a priority we should go straight to a private clinic and have ivf. I’m 34! I know I don’t have the fertility of a 24 year old but seriously?! In the end, I convinced him to order the bloods but I realised I’m still pissed off so blehhhhh. Rant over!

LimpLettice · 24/11/2018 16:16

I was so negative Strawberrye, literally like a stroppy child, and the 4th bfp arrived the night before I went wedding dress shopping, I just cried and panicked. I did hesitate posting that, Yammers being excellent at stroppy, but god I wish I'd known it wouldn't all go to shit again, I'd have saved myself some really dark thoughts. It may be you need more than the aspirin, and you're right, you very much have time on your side. I've caught myself saying this week I wouldn't rule out number 3, as if the last 18 mos haven't been hellish and dreadful, and as if my next birthday isn't forty bloody two. Anyway I'm rambling on but the main point is that there is light there, all you can do now is one day at a time, and you're very much not alone in this thread.

strawberrye · 24/11/2018 15:58

Thanks @LimpLettuce, and thank you for sharing your experience with me, its comforting to know that you got there in the end with your DS.

I'm only 27 which is good one the one hand as it means I've got lots of time - but also a bit of a kick in the guts on the other because it feels like even worse luck when I'm young, otherwise healthy and lead a healthy lifestyle. I started low dose aspirin at BFP this time as I have had 1 borderline positive test for APS, waiting for the second test, unfortunately no difference though. Will just have to wait and see what RMC says.

Thanks again for your kind words, and congratulations on the birth of your DS.

LimpLettice · 24/11/2018 15:36

I'm sorry to hear this Strawberrye, and have been exactly where you are in the last 18 months. I actually got pregnant with DS a week exactly after my third loss at 7 weeks and my recurrent loss appointment came through as I hit 12 weeks. It's totally shit and the third time really made me feel hopeless. I know everyone tritely says to be kind to yourself but it's so true. Just because it's early, those recurrent losses are no less painful for those of us ttc. Hugs.

I don't know your stats, sorry, but I'm 41, and GP was very encouraged by the fact that I fell pregnant easily. I did start low dose aspirin as soon as I got that bfp, and my consultant kept me on it til 36 weeks, anecdotally I'd heard positive things. I hope your appointment comes quickly and is helpful.

ImpatientMammy · 24/11/2018 10:44

Sorry for your loss strawberry Thanks

Hope everyone's doing ok? I'm sorry I've not really had a chance to catch properly and had no internet while we where away. I ovulated earlier than usual this cycle I'm now 6dpo feeling twinges on the right hand side which I'm sure is 100% unrelated but I'm feeling better about this cycle than last 🤞 x

Si1ver · 24/11/2018 08:56

That's shit @strawberrye, I hope the recurring miscarriage clinic can help you out.

Hope you're as ok as you can be at the moment.

strawberrye · 24/11/2018 08:14

Morning yam fam. So I got a BFP last weekend when I was late for AF but unfortunately it got progressively fainter and I started spotting yesterday, woken up with worse than AF type cramps today. So this is loss #3 for me. All of them have been before 6 weeks. Have an appointment on Tuesday with GP to ask to change the infertility referral to a recurrent miscarriage referral. What a bag of shite.

Owlpatrol · 23/11/2018 20:20

@JustLikeTheySaid sorry fp came Flowers

Owlpatrol · 23/11/2018 20:19

Hey yam fam how is everyone? Currently cycle day 9 over here.....sitting waiting. Enjoying my "month off" but not really not trying as planning to dtd lots but not doing opks this week Smile really excited about this month as letting my hair down eating what I want and drinking and having fun!!

Aph413 · 23/11/2018 09:05

It's been more than a year of trying now my cycles are still irregular 60-140 days compared to 29 pre mirena. And I just can't bring myself to go to the doctors. I'm sure they're just going to tell me I'm too fat and come back when I've lost weight.
Plus there's the feeling of just not wanting to be tols I've got something wrong with me, or worse that I haven't there's just nothing they can do.
Need to sort myself out

JustLikeTheySaid · 22/11/2018 18:09

Having said my period has come it appears my body is having a weird brown discharge but no period month.

Which is exactly what happened last time I was taking pregnacare tablets - so I stopped and my cycle went back to normal - but my doctor told me there was absolutely no way they could have an effect on my cycle and GUESS WHAT! Apparently they do!

Would stop taking them again except I haven't got pregnant without them either so hey, maybe they are worth a shot! Even if I basically don't have periods on them. Fucks sake.

ivf2019 · 22/11/2018 15:29

FP got me here too. Arrived yesterday morning, in line with a horrendous hangover after drinking myself stupid to deal with arrival of new nephew. I didn't know it was possible to be so happy and so sad at the same time.

Sorry that FP is here for you too Just & Teacher. It really is so shit and it's such an in-your-face horrible reminder. I hope you can have some wine and chocolate and a good screaming rant this evening. On the fence between having a mega "throw everything at it" month (haven't done OPKs or temp in a while in an effort to be "relaxed" eye roll) or just give up and get back on the pill while.

JustLikeTheySaid · 22/11/2018 12:48

I've just come on my period today too. Sat in my classroom crying my eyes out. Need to pull myself together before the kids come back.

It's so hard to keep going. I'm not sure what the answer is. I almost think it might be easier to give up than live with the hope every month.

Where are you at with tests/treatment?
